My wife just started watching "The Great British Baking Show." It's amazing what some of those people can do in a short amount of time #flipclass#flipclasschat
I am not full mastery but because #flipclass allows so much flexibility and tech allows for asynchronous completion it allows me to be more flexible with students and seek their success rather than my ease of record keeping and grading #flipclasschat

If you are a math teacher in the JH or HS teacherthen Deltamath is worth a big look. I am also looking at it for my developmental math at the local college. #flipclass#flipclasschat

I am a big fan of using a few tools well in my #flipclass so for a tool to make the regular rotation it has to be good.. There are some tools that get specialized use, but sometimes we can "tech" students to death #flipclass#flipclasschat
Google is a game changer. it is amazing that the basic pieces of what comprise Googledu have existed, but it is the integration and common platform along with internet availability that has exploded the usability. #flipclass#flipclasschat
Because my school is very traditional and because full mastery requires so much upfront prep (working my way there) I start by being very flexible on dates and times. My goal is for Ss to do the work and master the goals. #flipclass#flipclasschat
additionally, as a math department we have instituted a reassessment p[olicy department wide that centers around the cycle of assess-reinstruct-conference-reassess. while this mastery cycle is limited to once around in most all cases this is enough #flipclasschat#flipclass
How do you combat the tendency to take advantage of flexible deadlines?
I use the formative quizzes as entrance tickets for summative assessments. I give feedback on productivity and accountability on DBQs & research projects but doesn’t impact the grade #flipclasschat#flipclass
I find that because of my Ss community expectation of traditional dates and penalties, a conversation with students who are abusing the flexibility is effective. priviledge vs right convo #flipclass#flipclasschat

@trgriffin1 I also have "set in Stone" test days Ss must be ready for...which I of course adjust on an individual Student basis using professional judgement. #flipclass#flipclasschat I am also limiting further the reassessment policy for blatant unpreparedness
Students need structure, the slides work like a "book" for those that can't see beyond the "book" Ss also need pacing and organization guidance, but as with all EDU the power of convo and relationship provides great flexibility.
I inevitably have a team or two in each project cycle the same way, and eventually I simply give them a date and clarify there will be no extension. As teachers we are to be flexible but we have a duty to provide accountability #flipclass#flipclasschat
