A1: Sadly, "data drives instruction" often means "subjective grades and meaningless assignment 'grit' determine student success." Instead, we need to frame assessment as reflective experiences - where students gauge their own learning/goals/outcomes. #EduAR

A1: Formative Assessments are used as learning checks, the purpose is for feedback, determining how to proceed, and to help set goals. Summarize determines what has been learned over the course and is meant to be more final. #EduAR
A1: Formative assessments are short and quick, used to determine whether I need to reteachusing a different strategy. Summative is used to measure mastery and is more comprehensive. #EduAR
A1🍉 I use my formatives to evaluate where we are and where we need to go together be successful later on in the summatives .. and the formatives are shorter and quicker and often much more fun! 💚🍉 #eduAR

A1: Goals of each r diffrnt.: FORMATIVE-monitor st lrning, provide ongoing feedbk target areas need wk-help us recog. where ss r struggling & address problems immedtly. SUMMATIVE: eval. ss learning @ the end of an instr. unit - comparing it vs some standard or benchmark. #EduAR
A2 Common assessments show where a student is in the midst of a unit. Whether it’s a midpoint or other assessment, common assessments show what a student knows by the standards and how they’re able to apply them on questions. #eduAR
A2 Although standardization will increase traditional student outcomes (e.g. test scores), the assumption is that all students will be delivered the same knowledge/skills. While well-intentioned, why develop assessment even further away from student voice? #EduAR
A2: When CFAs are created in PLCs and scaffold level of difficulty, not only do you know if they “got it” but to what depth of knowledge they understood the standard. Instrumental in making decisions! #eduAR
A2: Common assessments level the playing field from classroom to classroom and school to school within a district. It helps to ensure students are being assessed on the same standards. #EduAR
A1. The formative assessments allow you to tweek your lessons according to what the Ss needs are in the classroomand where we neede to be and the summative assessment is longer over more material a summary of learning.#eduar
Common Assessments promote consistency in expectations to both students and teachers. Teachers become actively engaged in the responsibility of all students. #EduAR

Common assessments open doors to deeper PLC conversations- What is working? What's not? Why? Please, share what strategies you used to get higher scores etc. In a trusting community, CA help team members bond and collaborate even more. We're in this together! for all kids! #eduAR
Definitely student voice should be included!! I believe as we become better about creating and using common assessments we will see more student voice included. Great point!! #EduAR

A2. A common assessment allows one check progress learning poingts of where a Ss is at any point in the learning game! They make sure that curriculum material which is standard is being taught and is a checkpt for this! #eduar

A3 Common assessments can show who’s teaching a standard really well and can assist in how to teach and strategize a certain standard too. It’s a great reflective piece too. #eduAR
A3: Analyzing student work not only paints a picture of what Ss know but also common misconceptions and class-wide errors. This is pivotal in personalizing instruction and evaluating quality of instruction! #eduAR
A3 Common assessments along with watching each other teach is where real growth can happen. We need to watch each other in action! Talk about how our practice impacts student learning- #eduAR
A3. Common Summative Assessments can inform the practice of individual T by letting them know if they haven't covered any standards in the required curriculum that they missed or should have covered! #eduar

A2: Powerful tool in teachers collaborating to see what Ss got and what they didn't. Ts can reteach with a possibly more effective approach that another T used. #eduAR
Q3: when you're using common assessments it allows you to share teaching strategies, listen to each other, and learn from the students, your fellow teachers, and your own experiences! #eduAR

My goal this coming year is to have a student planning community that will meet with my planning partner and I to help us design the learning- adding student voice and choice to the process 🧡✏️☀️#eduAR

Agree! It's all the little things that you pick up when you go into someone else's room that can make a big difference! Borrow the brilliance of your colleagues! #eduar
A2 students in this way will have a voice in formative assessments - possibly a choice on some summative options as well - not the district CCA that all schools take ☀️😀💛✏️#eduAR
Hello #EduAR! While you’re on the topic of the 4 Questions of PLC, I want to share some slides from our @ArkansasEd Summer Presentation that tell Success stories from 1st year of PLC Pilot with @SolutionTree. This one is from @psd_wolves
*Ensuring students have access to the same essential curriculum, *Teachers are using common pacing, *Assessment of student work uses the same criteria. #EduAR
A3: Common Asmnts give team the power of "and" -Yes, tchrs have data but itʻs Applying new lrning, Listening 2 each otherʻs ideas, knowing Advntge of observing otherʻs, Addressing gaps in lrning, Assuring ss can apply-itʻs the AND "now what do we do to know that they know?" #EduAr
Thank you for sharing @JohnnyKey_AR! I have heard nothing but great things about the pilot! Looking forward to seeing where round 2 takes us as a state! #EduAR

Thank you so much @JohnnyKey_AR for joining us tonight!! What an honor! I love this so much - PLCs are not programs to purchase or groups to schedule when you can - it truly is a Way of Life in a school environment! #EduAR

Teaching students the different level of question depth empowers them to write standards aligned questions. As a teacher they wrote the questions for the assessment! #LetStudentsSpeakhttps://t.co/G8FnophgoU
A4 equity ... oh equity .... the common assessments administered in individual ways that meet student needs give valuable feedback that can be a Piece of the data- I think mixed with many other pieces to aid in getting a good collection of evidence of learning 📚#EduAR

A5 in a PLC community - it is not wash, rinse, repeat —it’s more like Wash, muddify, rinse, splash in puddles, bathe, wash in the mud, rinse .. Ooops rinse again .. because we are Listening to kids, using their authentic data, and adjusting our teaching to their learning #eduAR

Equity isn't the word I think of with "common" assessments. Equity refers to what's fair for each student, whereas a common assessment is for the group. But the gain from this type of assessment is priceless information which will be used to Plan for the individual! #eduAR
A6: This means all Ts should have be heard, but can't be better than the "weakest" one. We must be a team within the school looking for everyone to improve. We can't hide our best tools for ourselves. #eduAR
A6: All Students are our students. We are only as strong collectively as our weakest member. The power lies in transparency, accountability and collaboration intertwined with positive intent and the vulnerability to learn! #Eduar

A6: If educators don’t share than only some students will get the good stuff. And that’s not fair!
Sharing is caring...caring for every student. Not just yours. #eduAR
A6 When educators work together and collaborate for student success, the student is the center and benefits the most. With that said, collaboration for student success should happen to provide students with the best always. #EduAR

Q5: in a PLC you determine the essential skill that needs to be taught and then proceed, it's different than going down a list of SLEs and teaching. #eduAR
A6 my brain went straight to we are better when we collaborate. The smartest person in the room is the room - @gcouros together, we do more- are more #EduAR I was asked to explain this image today - BRB

It's hard to change from the traditional, year-to-year favorite lessons...the PLC process opens classroom doors literally and figuratively. We must be willing to continually learn from each other growing as educators for the benefit of ALL students!! #eduAR
