Happy Fri ! Topic: What is your favorite co-teaching strategy (or way to work w/ teammates)? - https://t.co/jafXZylQoE
Didn't spend much time with animals tonight as I was driving Clare around for hair, makeup etc before formal
Thanks! I have those or a crazy pair of converse
Goid morning Chris. I wish I had your energy!!
Good morning Lori from central Ohio Happy Friday!
However tomorrow is teh Berwick Show
Three animals entered and a fleece.
I need this weekend bad. Im behind and stressed.
Makes for an awesome day...week...month! 😊👍👏
Good morning,! Ben from NC here. My PC ran out of juice, so I'm trying to do this on an iPad sans TweetDeck...aaugh!
She didn't sound that sweet when she was complaining about wind getting in her hair
Good Morning! Stacey from NJ....lurking and thinking today.
I like the topic!I really enjoy co-teaching but there is a catch. 4 me it has to be w/ a T I mesh with otherwise it isn't successful
Good morning everyone from ATL.
In teh case of this boy it's just nice he has a favourite anything
Good morning friends! Let's get this Friday started!
Ellen from North Carolina Good morning most awesome educators!
Thanks. I'll send your class pics
I dont have a great deal of experience with Co-teaching. Ive seen it a bunch. Personalities are important to consider.
open safari and get in tweet deck from there....it's what i do :)
Working with other teachers ... sometimes Admin needs to push us off our islands ... upper grades sometimes too focused on own world
The will appreciate it. Thanks you!
As a former Sp Ed teacher, this is neat & dear to my heart. 1st & foremost, Ts need to volunteer. Forced partnerships do not work.
Such a good morning from Kansas!
Good morning, Friends. Veronica from wind-whipped NJ.
Thanks for the kinds words, Connie!
sounds like a nice way to start the weekend!
exactly, understand what each brings to the table, but with common goal https://t.co/s0UbDA4LSD
I like the topic!I really enjoy co-teaching but there is a catch. 4 me it has to be w/ a T I mesh with otherwise it isn't successful
I love a station modeling day. Divide the class into 2, Erb takes 1/2, I take the others. Helps with ADHD
Is there a love button on this?
Good morning! Christina from MD here.
Enjoyed co-teaching the most when their was time in advance to plan & it truly was both guiding Ss, almost like dual-anchors
good morning everybody! It's Cleteus from Norfolk Virginia.
exactly. but how often does that happen?
Totally agree Manny. For the magic of co-teaching to happen the T's have to trust eachother & be willing to be vulnerable.
I love working with other Teacher, but only if they really want to ... I like to be excited about teaching.
Co-teachers need to have a good ebb & flow between them; that comes from taking time to collaborate and plan
Interesting to hear people as I do not do a lot of co-teaching
We used to divide topics amongst us and be experts...
I believe most successes are simply an effort of being present/ purposeful/prepared. F2Fs are quick-Own it. https://t.co/pu8rcNSsMl
there should be. In my opinion a major mistake to force it!
We rotate 4 social studies and science sometimes. Winter holidays, African Americans, Women's history, animal habitats, presidents.
Favourites...Co-planning and co-teaching...also love collaborative inquiry (prof learning)..we study the student learning experience.
Lucky to co-teach 2 blocks w awesome partner. That's the strategy. We "co" teach and we are "partners."
Can vary the Co teaching models - team teaching is our primary model. In the upper grades, content may dictate a different model
Good morning from windy Va
When I was a special Ed inclusion teacher, I wanted to do more teaching but the schedule was tough as I had many classrooms.
Good morning and great topic today, ! Happy Friday!
yes. Co-planning time is very difficult to schedule.
Educate/model first so Ts know what a true team teaching partnership entails. The planning, instruction and assessment, all shared.
once when ICS Ts, main Ts started off every convo in class with Mr. Fieldman & I, What we expect, set expectations we aS equals
Don't have much exp. with co-tch but I imagine communication, planning and be sure you each have a voice
We break students into different MTSS groups. They're varied by academic competence.
thanks for the kind words.
Been there...can relate! 😊
I co-taught for several years. You're right personalities have to mesh.
I've seen this in upper grades as well. My suggestion is to not wait for admin to intervene-go for it! https://t.co/11uP7cd7c0
Working with other teachers ... sometimes Admin needs to push us off our islands ... upper grades sometimes too focused on own world
Currently co-teaching a math/US History project: geometry of architecture using UVA as a model for Ss to design a new campus.
Good morning and happy Friday
How did co planning work for you?
yes & often Gen. Ed Ts see us as "assistants" :( https://t.co/Uj2HOoQun4
When I was a special Ed inclusion teacher, I wanted to do more teaching but the schedule was tough as I had many classrooms.
I agree. Had a very tough year once with someone who didn't have the same view of Ss as I did. Horrible year.
a book by Katherine Applegate that I read aloud to my Ss
Good morning, friends! Steve from NJ checking in
Enjoy planning and sharing ideas with teaming partners. The reflection process is always great with a colleague.
I've found that all teaching is co-teaching whether it's our assignment or not. Working together is always best for our Ss.
As a school we have to do a grade level STEAM project every quarter ... valuable learning opp for kids and teachers
My friend Debbie Wolinsky is a master in this: many observers can't tell who the special needs Ss are, or which T is which!
Morning! Reporting from MD, on treadmill - a little late.
Good morning, ! Plan together. Talk. Share. Coord your roles & responsibilities so Ss see both Ts as real Ts https://t.co/nsstzmNfmS
Happy Fri ! Topic: What is your favorite co-teaching strategy (or way to work w/ teammates)? - https://t.co/jafXZylQoE
Part of my daily work these days due to my role...must build trust, respect first...very rewarding (at least for me😊).
we're setting ourself up for failure without!
I taught on Yr 9 campus where we worked as team to cover everything. Each championed one idea and Ss could work with anyone
Good morning! Checking in from the treadmill.
How can we expect kids to be collaborators if they never see their teachers be collaborators?
I read it to 3rd. but I would say more of a 4 - 7 th grade book.
Mic drop !!!! https://t.co/egohUDjYmc
How can we expect kids to be collaborators if they never see their teachers be collaborators?
I personally love our bi-weekly collaboration with colleagues!
When I co-taught we had no common planning time. So i'd plan very early and take it to her to modify. Thats not co planning though.
So agree! Don't wait- create your own path!
For me co-planning w/ a collaborating T is fun-giant brainstorming session. But again trust is essential
As the librarian, the majority of my teaching is co-teaching & I wouldn't want it any other way. It does require good choreography
Issues I had with coteaching included spec Ed teacher wanted to let students do only work they already knew not new learning
I like collaborating on a theme; last year it was Globalize 13- human trafficking; right now Forgotten https://t.co/QaWVwU8N2x
I think there needs to be real time dedicated to it. We are all so busy
no, but a good compromise, sounds like there was cooperation https://t.co/PO3GbzZNaf
When I co-taught we had no common planning time. So i'd plan very early and take it to her to modify. Thats not co planning though.
Regardless of the chosen model, it is successful when Ss see 2 equal teachers & both are just as important in the class!
I love it when Ts plan together across subject areas: so enriching for Ss -but it's true: some personalities clash & make it hard.
I would plan 1st then bring it to her. it worked but wasnt co planning.
Both Ts need to have a voice in the planning. SpEd T should not just defer to GenEd T, but it doesn't always work that that
I've experienced that too - can be tough to negotiate
yes, but many teachers will NOT do this unless Admin forces them to ... see a lot of kicking and screaming when pushed
A true 'partnership' is key...respect, trust, open-to-learning stance and asset stance are important.
Love this my friend. Thanks for sharing:)
Good Morning - Melissa from CT! Happy Friday!
I don't have a co-teaching model, but I do have an in-class resource teacher. Different work model.
That's the one thing that I love most about the movement...the collaboration and articulation.
Hi all! Think my iPad is on it's last legs. It's struggling to open Twitter!
good morning, sir! Happy to see you
Totally agree. There was an exhilaration in planning when I was on a fully-functioning interdisciplinary team https://t.co/HHjALcAB4G
For me co-planning w/ a collaborating T is fun-giant brainstorming session. But again trust is essential
you'll just have to walk faster on that thing then :)
Great way of looking at this topic! Collaboration is the way to go!
Yes! And when you're excited Dennis it is likely to rub off on others. Sharing your enthusiasm is key!
she was great. it worked out well.
I have co-taught as Reg. Ed teacher AND I've been the Sped Teacher. The latter can be more difficult unless you've got good rapport
Late to . Had such a great day at school yesterday but now tired. Great topic here.
This sounds ideal! https://t.co/6WT5iu8937
I taught on Yr 9 campus where we worked as team to cover everything. Each championed one idea and Ss could work with anyone
so very true, good ICS classes have both Ts working with all Ss as needed ! https://t.co/obeP5xI0wy
Both Ts need to have a voice in the planning. SpEd T should not just defer to GenEd T, but it doesn't always work that that
Thank you Ellen. Such an important messages to keep in mind.
That's it! Ss shouldn't be able to distinguish between them!! https://t.co/EC9h8WCHOq
Regardless of the chosen model, it is successful when Ss see 2 equal teachers & both are just as important in the class!
Absolutely! It just as important that Ss see us on the same page...united front.
Years ago, the sped T and I did amazing things in the classroom. Reader's theater. It was fabulous
I like a couple things: one lead/one support and I love true co-Ting and finishing each other's thoughts. The last is treasured.
Trusting that the other person can AdLib takes time and effort... And the ability to give ⬆control.. the hardest part of coteaching
agreed; kids love to be aware of Ts who work together
Something magical happens when collaborative teachers come together and create ... mutual inspiration and excitement. Kids benefit
Absolutely. There can't be any "your kids" or "my kids." They are all "our kids."
My neighbor teacher is that for me. Really blessed to have worked with her for so many years.
Bo that isn't co planning at all. https://t.co/ARl3sokNjE
I would plan 1st then bring it to her. it worked but wasnt co planning.
excellent! That way provides an opportunity for every teacher to collaborate every quarter. Wish my school had that.
IMO it really has to be a collaborative effort. But again it doesn't always work that way if Ts don't mesh
I feel like more Ts in my district would collaborate if they had common planning time
It was a simpler time back then.
This is so true! We often behave just like (or worse than) our Ss Lol. https://t.co/iBx6vVAx0l
How can we expect kids to be collaborators if they never see their teachers be collaborators?
Co-teaching success starts with a solid level of trust and respect for each other. Start here: https://t.co/NEZSJvWRmg .
so nice to see Ts collaborating after all we are all there for the Ss, right? https://t.co/GTmU8HeZid
My neighbor teacher is that for me. Really blessed to have worked with her for so many years.
don't forget being nerds for your subject
Tech has made it easier to collaborate even if it's not f2f. Shared documents are great!
its my understanding that its crazy hard to put that in a schedule. they do it when they can.
Hi Melissa! 'Better together' truly fits, as long as we have an open-to-learning stance & willingness to collaborate.
Good Morning, ! I think there are diff. models of co-teaching.. Ts learn so much about their Ss when they share the stage.
Yes, no one should be able to tell the diff if you're doing it right https://t.co/svzI2FVuJE
My friend Debbie Wolinsky is a master in this: many observers can't tell who the special needs Ss are, or which T is which!
Well collab means we want to help each other grow!
I have a co-T for math, who is fabulous. We don't have any planning time together, & she doesn't get to stay for whole lesson.
it is tough as some Ts don't like it ... but they are coming around. pushed out of comfort zone.
We have coteaching in our pbl courses. . Tech teacher plus a core content teacher for each section. Tech tchr is the constant.
At my school, SpEd Ts are in all weekly collaborative planning meetings. Co-teaching is alive and thriving! https://t.co/CPA0QPYj6i
Both Ts need to have a voice in the planning. SpEd T should not just defer to GenEd T, but it doesn't always work that that
Amazing program. So proud of what they do there, keep ss engaged at a time when school is lowest priority
plan. Talk. Share. Excellent! Three things that we need to model and live with our Ss every day!
true. but she made amazing modifications.
Too funny. I was trying to explain lurking to one of my tutoring S yesterday. That it's not a bad thing on Twitter:)
Not at all. Though I listened to a podcast recently where 's was the suggested method. I was surprised!
Also, we're invested in truly making a difference, and not getting stuck in a "rut"....
sounds like a great place !!! https://t.co/HXwXd3zTaQ

Try starting 1 T at a time. Pick the 1 who seems to resist least. It may be a slow go but baby steps are OK.
We used to call it integrated projects before became the buzzword.
We don't have co-teaching in my district - budget cuts - sometimes I think it would be awesome concept
There's no back then. we lived it so it's now.
Have a great day all! And a super weekend!
Really? We liked to throw our ideas out together as a team
Is there a web site I can visit for more info. I'd like to look into this..
When we were able to meet, it was nice already having a framework.
I do however constantly connect - plan and ask questions - to every teacher I can!
I agree. Many sp ed Ts are not treated same as gen Ed, and sped have a much harder job, imho.
So true! I'm convinced that T-to-T collaboration is the secret sauce (much underutilized) of great education!
I sure think it is! All Ts have a voice and together, we have a beautiful choir.
One of our friends at the Nature Study Center in Oceanside ~ Great photo, Kyle S., ! Happy Day :)! https://t.co/6qdFtiUAgm
oh my goodness, if I could accurately convey my anticipation as I scrolled down... you created great tension
In our schl, entire bldg has common planning time before kids arrive. We do so much collaborating then. https://t.co/nh8rhbIF0l
I feel like more Ts in my district would collaborate if they had common planning time
Good morning friends! Running behind this morning, but wanted to say hi and have a great weekend!
so true. It is a delicate dance. However when every1 is dancing 2 the same tune it does create many opportunities!
Agreed, so we need to build in times to allow this to happen - maybe replace a few teacher meetings
so happy for you love the analogy !! https://t.co/7UyCkypfQU
I sure think it is! All Ts have a voice and together, we have a beautiful choir.
Your way is how I prefer to do lesson planning.
the gift of time is one of the most valuable an A can give coTs
We took courses on co- teaching to help us work through. Not every teacher works well with this model though.
I just laughed out loud!! Yes-being geeky about your subject helps. I get excited about crazy things! https://t.co/SCQs4ZBTyn
don't forget being nerds for your subject
I try really hard - most of the success grows out of having colleagues willing to try a new model
back at ya !! https://t.co/CcEu0hemFh
Good morning friends! Running behind this morning, but wanted to say hi and have a great weekend!
we are our own best resource.
That's great. What a great model of a positive school culture!
Bingo...trust is key. Hope you both have a beautiful weekend:)
I have done it this way for planning workshops, but rarely for classroom lessons.
. I can relate. In that situation, you have to do what you have to do. Plan, meet later. Same here. https://t.co/pVaPtsJOgG
When I co-taught we had no common planning time. So i'd plan very early and take it to her to modify. Thats not co planning though.
