Tonight's #G2Great chat is -
Creating a Conversational Thread: Engaged Reading, Writing, and Talking Across the Curriculum.
We are so excited to have you here!
Welcome to #G2Great tonight friends. We are so excited t0 talk about this very important topic tonight. We are so grateful to each of you for making this engaging reading, writing and talking conversational thread a reality! ❤️
@franmcveigh@hayhurst3@brennanamy
Pam from NJ... I am not able to chat the whole time tonight (unfortunately) but when I saw that @LRobbTeacher was co-hosting and the topic of conversation was conversation- I knew I needed to jump on for at least a few min! #g2great
Hello #G2Great Glad to join in the conversation. Faige substitute teacher in Los Angeles. Today and tomorrow with 3s. Next week 1st grade. I get around and have great conversations with the little ones!
A1: #G2Great We must think it before we can say it. We must say it before we can write it. This is applicable to all content areas, and life in general.

A1. WHY? In order for students to be skilled at Reading, Writing, Talking and Thinking and to be ready to meet the demands of the future . . . It has to be cumulative across the entire day. All day. Every day. PK - 12.
#G2Great
Hello #G2Great Glad to join in the conversation. Faige substitute teacher in Los Angeles. Today and tomorrow with 3s. Next week 1st grade. I get around and have great conversations with the little ones!
A1 My "why" is wrapped up in the knowing that literacy is like water it flows all around us. By actively creating conversational threads we are casting our nets into intellectual waterways assessing Ss' understanding.#G2Great@DrMaryHoward@franmcveigh@brennanamy
A1 Talk is a powerful cognitive playground where we can reinforce, extend, enrich or even alter our thinking. It’s a critical component of effective literacy & must be a high priority. #G2Great
A1: We learn through our connections with others and conversation is one of the most authentic & meaningful ways to connect, think, convey, listen, and learn together #g2great
A1 To set our students up to be successful for the future, to support their ability to be critical thinkers. This is something you build on throughout the curriculum and across the years.
#G2Great
A 1 The conversations should be student-led, students should create discussion questions, and in an ideal world projects should be cross curricular. #G2Great
A1: We learn through our connections with others and conversation is one of the most authentic & meaningful ways to connect, think, convey, listen, and learn together #g2great
A1: reading and writing is needed across all areas of curriculum because communication and comprehension is needed across all areas of curriculum. #G2Great
I just wrote about Finding Your Why. Drawn to this #G2Great chat by your first question. A1 That question needs to be our driving reasons in what we do in our classrooms
https://t.co/jrvj5I7LKX
A2: #G2Great We work to build stamina with conversations, just like we work to build stamina with everything else. Today, my 4th graders tried to converse while analyzing pictures books about civil rights. At about the 2 minute minute mark, we hit our limit. 😂 #stillgrowing
A1 I think of all the things we do that ignore the role of talk, like answering Accelerated Reader questions. Answers don’t show us what kids DO/DO NOT know. It’s the thinking that got them there that does. #G2Great
#g2great Fran- move to California!!! I would love that. Just to tempt you- it was a gorgeous day in Santa Monica- blue skies, palm trees- the great Pacific just seven blocks from my school!!!!

A1 Research confirms that we learn far more from rethinking our initial responses than from those responses in the first place. We need to keep that in mind and create a forum for thinking in action. #G2Great
#G2Great A1 a thought without talk would be like planting a seed and neglecting to water it and nourish it with rich soil, it may sprout 🌱 under the right conditions but can’t grow & expand and spread to plant even more seeds🌳

#g2great And I do love plain ‘ole conversation with my students. When everything seems to have to be so “fancy” it is good to realize that we have the gift of conversation.
A2: Giving Ss a place to plan their thinking (a note catcher, a notebook, etc.) give them a dress rehearsal for talk. Jot, talk, reflect —> more jotting, talking, reflecting. #G2Great

A2. Talk is essential in all content areas. Pose a question. 2 minutes to think & jot an answer. Pair Share. Then either Square up with another pair or share out with class. In less than 5 min. can HEAR every S voice, gauge thinking & understanding.
#G2Great
Love this Mary “thinking in action” Giving students time to ponder, to question their response, to talk to their friends about the story, about each POV. #g2great
A1 Research confirms that we learn far more from rethinking our initial responses than from those responses in the first place. We need to keep that in mind and create a forum for thinking in action. #G2Great
So true! & I love mixing it up for kids... introducing jot-talk-reflect and talk-jot-reflect so students figure out ways to "see"- and then nurture and nudge their practices- and choose the right method for them/peers at the right time. #g2great
A2 First we make room for conversations, meaning we make a commitment to TALK TIME. Collaborations that promote, inspire and gently nudge thinking within a community of learners is crucial! #G2Great
A2 I plan for it - talk is an essential piece to grow comprehension. When I plan in time and tools to support academic talk I create an understanding that this is important. #G2Great@DrMaryHoward@franmcveigh@brennanamy

A2: We have to actually carve out the time for Ss to talk. If we don't do that - it's not going to happen. That means being ruthless about chopping away anything in class that gets in the way of reading, writing, speaking, listening, debating, and thinking. #G2great
A 2 Use compelling texts relevant to students’ lives. Give students choice of texts to discuss and teach them to create open-ended questions. The more student investment the richer the conversations. #G2Great
A2: when students are confronted with a complex task which requires multiple roles (and therefore teamwork) talk is a natural result and an intrinsic part of the process. Students exchange info, refine their own knowledge, and resolve conflicts. #g2great
So true! & I love mixing it up for kids... introducing jot-talk-reflect and talk-jot-reflect so students figure out ways to "see"- and then nurture and nudge their practices- and choose the right method for them/peers at the right time. #g2great
A2: Quickest answers: model it (always and consistently across settings) and teach into/coach listening- perhaps even more than talking. Both help us move from "parallel play" talk to true conversation that has greater value to participants #g2great
A2: Plan times for student talk in a variety of ways: partnerships, small groups, whole class, even class blogs and online forums. Also means teachers have to step back and stop talking! #G2Great
Only 14 minutes until our #forsythpln chat.
Topic: The power of collaboration, connection, and inspiration!
It's going to be exciting!! #g2great LFAcademy20 #mschat
A2 Bringing rich conversations to life means that we have to close our mouths so that they can open theirs. CONVERSATIONS are not INTERROGATIONS! We need to know the difference. #G2Great
#G2Great A2 be intentional, make time and safe space for dialogue, use literature to spark grand conversations, model, step back so Ss can step up, utilize turn & talk & purposeful partnerships & book clubs
A2 Using writing to think and plan before talking and using talk to think and plan before writing. One can act as a rough draft for the other. #G2Great
Our pupils forget most of what we teach them. They will however remember us their teachers forever.Lets be good and kind to them.A kind word can last a lifetime #G2great
A2 Using writing to think and plan before talking and using talk to think and plan before writing. One can act as a rough draft for the other. #G2Great
A2: And to add on, what I've learned over the years is that scaffolds & stems MIGHT help- but they can also hinder. Students need to feel comfortable speaking in rich ways-but also in ways that sound and feel authentic to who they are. There's no "one way." #g2great
A2: Plan times for student talk in a variety of ways: partnerships, small groups, whole class, even class blogs and online forums. Also means teachers have to step back and stop talking! #G2Great
A4: #G2Great@nearpod has a great #collaboration tool that allows students to share their thoughts. This is a great tool during read alouds. Students respond/see other responses. Naturally, they compete & want to have intelligent responses so their peers with "heart" theirs.❤️
A1 Today in 3s sit and talk time I asked class what they had been learning about. MLK and Noah’s Ark (Skirball Center In LA). Asked what they wanted to share about MLK. Raised their hands to share. So earnest, so ready change the world! “We can all be friends.” #G2Great
A2: Plan times for student talk in a variety of ways: partnerships, small groups, whole class, even class blogs and online forums. Also means teachers have to step back and stop talking! #G2Great
A2 Partnerships support meaningful talk - keep pairs together over time so students can really get to know one other and build trust. Relationships help meaningful conversation and encourage vulnerability that's essential to learning. #g2great
#G2Great hello @donohoe_kitty and friends. I’m chiming I’m from NYC intrigued about giving more opportunities for talk. Lately, I’ve been pausing during read aloud and in reading conferences to ask kids, “what’s worth talking about in your book right now?” Choice & independence
A2 We need rich whole class conversations but we must also value student-driven small group conversation where we are a fly on the proverbial wall as kidwatchers and facilitators! #G2Great
Yes. Closed questions only tell us what we knew in the first place but open ended leaves room to be surprised by their responses. SO Much better!! #G2Great
A6: #G2Great It's HARD! We use a "freeze high-5" method. They find the a buddy close by, freeze their high 5 so that I can see the partner sets, and they know they have a limited time to share their thoughts. This is monitored and there's a rubric to back up a score if needed.
A3. Partners for R and W that extend across the day. Sharing thinking, questions, concerns. Evidence of learning.
Evidence of thinking.
Evidence of growth.
More than restating facts.
#G2Great
A3 Clay(1991) said, "...if we plan instruction that links oral language and literacy learning from the start-so that writing and reading and oral language processing move forward together, linked and patterned, from the start-that instruction will be more powerful.” #G2Great
A2: Ehile working with a small group of Ss today, I had to remind myself to STOP talking and allow them to work through it together instead of them looking at me to guide their thinking. As Ts that can be hard to do and I struggled with it today #g2great
A3 I plan for active engagement that emphasizes talk. Using methods like A/B partners, Write Around, and Think Tanks throughout the day not just for reading, writing, word work, math, science, social studies. It's all literacy. @DrMaryHoward@franmcveigh@brennanamy#G2Great
A3: Making time for formal & informal conversation-& not feeling like I need to control the topic, timing, or method. Some of the best chatting happens when we are doing something else- as long as CR members are respectful to others close by, the "when" can be flexible #g2great
#g2great Hi Sarah! It’s so great to chat with you! @DrMaryHoward@franmcveigh@brennanamy@hayhurst3 You should all follow each other if you aren’t already. Sarah was the staff developer at TC who coached me at the coaching institute. What an amazing teacher!

A2: one must create opportunities. In our pbl model it is essential student have conversations centered around their learning. If students split work up they are then considered the expert on their topic and should report out to their peers.
#G2great
A3: Infusing meaning conversations requires intentional planning for time and space to do so. This is true for all learners, adults and students alike. #G2Great

A2 Fran, there is always WAIT: Why Am I Talking? Great question to keep in mind. Once put a sticky note on my hand to keep me from interrupting discussion in small group reading! #g2great

A3: Letting students guide where our talk goes sometimes. Allow them to raise concerns and collaborate on solutions. Have students share their knowledge, backgrounds, and perspectives as they discuss their reading and writing lives #G2Great
A3 We infuse meaningful talk across the learning day by teaching kid the process and then trusting them to drive the talk bus as we step back to support, observe and capture their thinking. #G2Great

A3: A notebook, a writing tool, a phrase at the top: Tell me something…[writers quick write about anything they want to say] A share out to follow. Risk free, parameter free writing = builds writing volume + talk #G2Great
A1 Why infuse reading and writing across the curr.? To provide S & T with authentic learning exper. to connect concepts, make meaning real, and help S. understand that life isn’t disconnected but part of a bigger, interconnected web of thinking and communicating. #G2Great
A3 Approaching conferring as a reader-to-reader or writer-to-writer conversation. These kinds of conversations can happen anywhere- chatting with students about what they are reading when you see them in the hallway or cafeteria for example. #G2Great
A1 The WHY...Students are challenged to think critically, to stretch their thinking, and experience cross-curricular connections. If we foster these meaningful conversations and processes daily, our ss would be richer thinkers and learners...shall I say, well-rounded? #G2Great

Every single week I feel so inspired to watch the wisdom flashing at warp speed across my screen. So grateful for all of you who come to share your thinking with us all! #G2Great
A3 If Talk is just an “activity” we plan in the day then we will never model the value for talk it deserves. Talk should be embedded into EVERY experience as we simply make talk business as usual across the entire day. #G2Great
A3 Read aloud Peter’s Chair by Ezra Jack Keats 3s: Oh we’ve read it before. Me: Don’t you just love 2read books many times & isn’t it nice when u notice something new. 3s: look Willie is along pink paw tracks 3s: look he doesn’t want to share Me: so glad you showed me #G2Great
#G2Great A3: Invite kids to use reading/writing partner time in the ways they think will be best. Need to rehearse your writing? Do it with a partner. Need help revising? Check-in. Need a book rec? Ask your partner. This means that I need to be open to talk at all the time.
Every single week I feel so inspired to watch the wisdom flashing at warp speed across my screen. So grateful for all of you who come to share your thinking with us all! #G2Great
A3: Jumping in for the first time AND Late! Effective By having conversations - we ENGAGE, ENCOURAGE, and EMPOWER life-long, confident readers and writers who display agency and independence. #G2Great
A4. Engaged= on topic, meaningful, adding to conversation (not always agreement). Use video or fish bowl with tally marks. How have we "grown" convo? Encouraged others? Added to? What did Ss plan? Did they use plan?
#g2great
A3: I find that by proving the time and support through interactive read aloud, my Ss are better prepared to have meaningful conversations as it has been modeled for them and supported #G2Great
#g2great More and more I see the value of the partnerships in reading, writing, and other subjects. CS Lewsinsaid something like “We read to know that we are not alone.” This these partnerships are a perfect vehicle for talk and connection.
A3: I find that by proving the time and support through interactive read aloud, my Ss are better prepared to have meaningful conversations as it has been modeled for them and supported #G2Great
A4 We must be willing to fade into the background and be present in talk moments. We may be pleasantly surprised (or NOT) by what we see and hear, but this soft data gives us a starting point. #G2Great
A 3 Reading is social & meaningful talk is authentic. Talk is important to writers. It is the foundation of reading & writing. Sad that programs have replaced conversations with worksheets one- size-fits all work. Benefits? Talk lets Ss play with ideas and language #G2Great
A4: Be okay with the messy part of all that engaged reading, writing and talking brings about. Engagement brings us new paths to explore, new ways of wrestling with content. #G2Great
A2 Guiding ss to listen to one another with intentionality, I’ve noticed more engagement, more meaningul responses, and even meaningful questions directed twd the ss speaker. This kind of listening intentionality breeds a ss driven learning environment. #g2great

A4 There are many smart ways to distinguish reading, writing, and talking. One way may be to do a fishbowl to showcase talk done well. Gallery walks are a way to honor writing. Think marks illuminate the thought process for reading. #G2Great@DrMaryHoward@franmcveigh@brennanamy
A4: Peers are great at this. Low tech: fish bowl. High tech: video/flip grid and go "back to the tapes" like a Monday AM football coach- and study moves together... notice what was done and the impact it has... all done/guided by the students, not us #g2great

Q4: Conferring with Ss and flipping through their reading notebook - looking over their reading log and seeing what they have abandoned and finished. The same with writing, asking them what they are working on as a writer #G2Great
A4 The only way to celebrate/elevate talk engagement is to give it a place of honor across every learning day. 1st we make our own talk process public and then step aside for kids to put those models into action. #G2Great
A4: One way I've done it is to make my thinking visible. During a read aloud I would highlight my thinking about a character or a metaphor an author used.
#G2great
#G2Great A3. Considering who is partnered with who is also a huge consideration. I love how @franmcveigh is thinking about how we build a community of friends who can question, share concerns, and include every voice across the day.
A3. Partners for R and W that extend across the day. Sharing thinking, questions, concerns. Evidence of learning.
Evidence of thinking.

More than restating facts.
#G2Great
A4: When students are actively engaged in authentic reading and writing, the authentic talk flows out of them like water from a fountain. You can’t stop it, nor should you! #G2Great
A4: Many moons ago when I had infants, the pediatrician told me that “good sleep produces good sleep.” She was right. In schools—good work produces good work, good talk produces good talk. #G2Great
It always amazes me that we place such high value on our own talk, but don’t do the same for student talk. I can’t think of anything more LIFE connected so we have to MAKE room! #G2Great
A4: More: During Bk Club, daily share led by (rotating) grps: here's something that's been going well that we wanted to share-here's something that's been challenging-here's what we have already tried.Any other groups have other ideas for us? Simple, yet effective #g2great
#G2Great A4 often in an awareness of what’s not spoken! Watching expression and body language during interaction can be telling as well as the reciprocity...much like writing, can sound messy as a thought drives then crashes into new thinking which is revised, clarified, reborn
A4 Talk itself is concrete data we can record & analyze. A video component maximizes that understanding by capturing talk in action. Real life data shows the world as it IS not how we HOPE/THINK it is! Numerical data could never do that! #G2Great
A4:"minds on" is true engagement. *make text-to-text, text-to-world, and text-to-self connections, as Keene and Zimmerman advocate in Mosaic of Thought * ask questions as they read.(real world makes sense); student-led conversations
*reread when understanding fails. #G2Great
A5: Connecting comes naturally when we create integrated study projects. They naturally bring about the inquires that live across content areas. #G2Great
A5. Daily debrief. Which parts of day supported others?
Implicitly?
Explicitly?
How can Ss build stronger connections?
What if anchor charts were cross-curricular?
#G2Great
A4: Hi #G2Great friends! There is no engagement without empowerment! Give the Ss the SEL tools to feel confident and motivated to WANT to be a learner!
A5 When we share control and ownership for these threads with our students we create more opportunities for ownership. Greater freedom for expression and choice are the invitation. #G2Great@DrMaryHoward@franmcveigh@brennanamy
A5 A perfect example of this shift would be rethinking the way we design independent seatwork. MUCH less literacy center and much more book clubs & student driven dialogue. #G2Great
This is why I've never understood the old "mantra" that "children should be seen and not heard." This is so counter to the truth. Children should be seen and heard. They have so much to say, and learn so much through conversation. Ss talk is a top priority. #g2great
A4: Last: I'm also okay w/ the fact that convo might sometimes get off topic. We are all human & we all do this-sometimes even when curious & engaged. Let's instead teach into noticing when this does happen & how to take a proactive step (w/o teacher to get back on track #g2great
This is why I've never understood the old "mantra" that "children should be seen and not heard." This is so counter to the truth. Children should be seen and heard. They have so much to say, and learn so much through conversation. Ss talk is a top priority. #g2great
A5 We give student talk a place of honor in every single day but this means that WE have to relinquish the thinking stage to kids. Less teacher dialogue and more student so that we turn over the talk reins to them! #G2Great
Listening is CRITICAL. If we expect our Ss to be active listeners, we have to be the same. Active listening has not only academic benefits, but social/emotional benefits as well. Helps foster authentic relationships. #g2great
A5 We often assume that reading and writing are both solitary tasks, when in fact they can foster social connections. When I read something, I want to talk about it. When I write something, I want to share it & get feedback. We need to create spaces for these dialogues. #G2Great
A4 Students are “talkers” making space for them to talk about their thoughts and ideas when they read and question. Message sent: we all want to here what you have to say #G2Great make the time and space intentional
A5: I love accountable talk, but I also ♥️ accountable, meaningful writing! Dialogue journals are an amazing way to get Ss to write more, across all content areas! #G2Great#writingconversations
A4 Agree Pam! Terrific suggestions for use of tech as a tool. Our learning about students comes from observing the talk not by leading it. This is meaningful formative assessment. #G2Great
A4: Peers are great at this. Low tech: fish bowl. High tech: video/flip grid and go "back to the tapes" like a Monday AM football coach- and study moves together... notice what was done and the impact it has... all done/guided by the students, not us #g2great
A2Purposeful talk=S. navigating ideas/understandings and language, wrestling with ideas, seeing different perspectives, and growing communication muscles all while learning with/from others... leading to deep understanding of stories, ideas, empathy, connectedness... #G2Great
A5 I think it’s much less about having time at the end of topics/subjects for talk and much more about infusing talk across those experiences. Talk should be inspired by learning, not driven by it. #G2Great
#g2great A5. This is more of a musing than answer. Kids can argue about a character’s motivations in reading workshop and use similar language to make an argument about a proof in math workshop and perhaps similar words in social studies. Explain, prove, question, clarify.
#g2great And we learn so much from other people’s insights into literature! We all experience things the same and differently. I love learning from others.
A5: Today we were doing some TQE work while reading Peak by Roland Smith I think? Anyway we were all engaged in a simple student generated Q. Sharing theories and Ideas. Using signposts secrets were already uncovered. Fun reading writing and talking. #g2great
One of the great things about book clubs. Gives opportunities for Ss to engage in meaningful conversations about texts and hear and explore different perspectives. #g2great
A 5 Whether genre units in ELA classes or topics in content subjects having themes like discrimination, devastation, relationships, pandemics, poverty enrich the reading, writing, talking students do. #G2Great
A6. Ts need to collaboratively work to understand the R, W, and T expectations for their grade level. How can "jots" be an exit slip but also evidence for work the next day? (w/o jots only in every content area) Better alignment/understand benefits Ss & Ts.More learning!
#G2Great
A6 Stephanie Harvey has said that research shows that 60-70% of the day is spent in collaborative small groups centered on student choice and passions. We can start by doing MUCH less whole class instruction. #G2Great
A6 We establish good habits and Ss begin to take on this work of promoting strong reading, writing, and talking threads on their own. Literacy becomes the marker for deep learning. #G2Great@DrMaryHoward@franmcveigh@brennanamy
A6: I mean this in the best way, but we need to be intentional about what we do in class. We have enough time to read, write, speak, and listen in each class. Instead of throwing endless worksheets at Ss, texts should be at the center of everything we do! #g2great

A5:Social inquiry or conversation. is the thread that is woven throughout the comprehension quilt. It is the tie that binds. Classrooms should be places where students think out loud & are asked by the teacher to share why and how they came to their beliefs. #g2great

A5 Embracing a mindset shift to no longer compartmentalize content helps ss build stronger connections. When they see us step outisde of our box, they’ll step outside of theirs. #G2Great
A6 I don’t see talk as something we must add to the curriculum but something we embed within it. Talk must be seen as a critical aspect of ALL learning and thus inseparable to the entire learning day. #G2Great

Today, my Pre-K Ss read "Gravity," a book from our school library. They enjoyed the book, and the pictures, but the term was unfamiliar. We extended the learning by hearing from an astronaut in space on YouTube, and seeing the impact of gravity. #g2great (pt 1)
This 👇🏻Talk is not a new add on to do. Talk is how we learn to learn, to understand. Talk is question and wonder. Talk, however is futile if no one listens. #g2great
A6 I don’t see talk as something we must add to the curriculum but something we embed within it. Talk must be seen as a critical aspect of ALL learning and thus inseparable to the entire learning day. #G2Great
A6 Our passions and wonderings inspire talk if we have the wisdom to allow it to rise up in honor those things! What can be better than talk fueled by passionate and curiosity-inspired wonderings? #G2Great
It was great seeing their expressions as the astronaut floated through the spacecraft, and they noticed differences between the gravity on Earth and the lack of gravity in space. Led to fun conversations amongst the Ss about gravity, and about science. #g2great (pt 2)
A7. Ask Ss to mark up own personal anchor chart with sentence stems to use all day long. In R ..., In W ..., in math..., In Science ..., In Social Studies ...
Then, "What's common?"
"What's different?"
Involve Ss in the convo!
#G2Great
A6: I’ve found the more I read professionally, the more I’ve become intentional about finding time and protecting it. I’ve been able to look at practices I held on to and feel good about letting them go. For example, morning work = thief of time #G2Great
Those conversations allowed for vocabulary usage, speaking the language of astronomy, and building their abilities to compare and contrast. #g2great (pt 3)
A7 We begin with explicit AND implicit models for what talk looks like, feels like & sounds like. We can do this across the learning day by making our thinking public to give students a thoughtful talk process framework. #G2Great
A7 Again, it comes back to sharing control over learning with my students. I have to let reading, writing, and talking unfold in authentic ways if I am going to look for transfer. #G2Great@DrMaryHoward@franmcveigh@brennanamy
A4Engaged reading and writing happens when you ‘flood’ your classroom with books, honor S. interest and inquiry, model thinking and purposeful reading and writing. S. partners/groups-thinking and navigating text together naturally electrifies and promotes engagement #G2Great

A7 Talk is not just something we add into a lesson, but something that should be a part of EVERY lesson. We must all work to explicitly model, teach, invite, support and nurture in every possible way across the entire learning day. #G2Great
A6: Gr8 article by Richard Allington https://t.co/Xlw1TRG4dz on this VERY topic. Literacy Blocks, Wrkshops that have a balance of good habits, direct instruction, small group work, st choice #G2Great
A7: One possible path: Talk about it. Write about it. Read about it. Order can vary; we don't always start with reading. We can talk about ideas we have, then write some questions we want to pursue, and read with a focus. This path also scaffolds transfer. #G2Great
#G2Great A7 perhaps we know transfer occurs when we see Ss seeking out opps on their own outside of content or context of class...recess, lunchroom, home the convo the reciprocal process of listening and sharing continue in our absence
A7 The BEST thing we can commit to when transfer is the goal (& it always is) is to relinquish the talk reins to kids. That will only happen if we are able to SHUT UP so we can beckon kids to sit at the head of the talk table and release THEIR voices in the learning air. #G2Great
Enjoyed my brief time with #G2Great PLN and loved the ?s & moderating of @DrMaryHoward . Need to run but have a lot to think about. Make it a great rest of the week!
Pre-K, too! The power of learning through play. Love listening to their conversations, and hearing them use academic vocabulary and watching their creative minds work. #g2great
Thanks, #G2Great friends, for your contributions tonight. So many great ideas for increasing conversational threads across the day!
Have an awesome rest of the week!
#G2Great A7 perhaps we see the way the look at characters in a new light...the dialogue, the relationships, the interactions become more of a mirror reflecting that of their own & we see the same represented in their writing...the ah-ha moment words are seen as powerful!
Thank you so much for joining me and my amazing co-moderators @DrMaryHoward@franmcveigh@brennanamy for another meaningful conversation. #G2Great I learn so much from everyone each week. I am very grateful.
