A1: I use my twitter account to promote our reading program and highlight what our students are doing in the library. I've also used twitter to connect with authors and illustrators. The Ss LOVE when I say "I was just talking to that author on twitter!" #ycsdchat
A1: As a parent I love that YCSD is active on fb and Twitter. As a teacher I started using Twitter to showcase my classroom activities and personal educational philosophies. #YCSDchat
A1--YHS uses Twitter for tons of communication-events, clubs, celebrations, information, photos--it is truly the goto if want to know all things great at YHS #ycsdchat
A1: Our division hosts amazing Twitter Chats like this one! :) Our school is using different platforms as a great way to connect with families/communities. Within the school, there are several classes that use platforms like FB to show what is happening in the class #YCSDchat
A1 I created a twitter account years ago, but really just started using it this year. It helps me connect with presenters from workshops and institutes, etc. and keep up to date with my professional development @lempp5#mathworkshop#YCSDchat
I love joining twitter chats for professional growth. I learn so much from other educators around the globe. And there are great chats on any topic I am interested in or curious about. #ycsdchat

A1: #ycsdchat I was initially Twitter-resistant; I discovered a PLN full of resources& innovative thinkers. I love that YHS uses it to keep everyone updated about events and successes:since peer observations don’t give PD points,it’s a view into classrooms around the school
A1: I also follow leading educational groups on FB, Instagram, Pinterest, etc and often find valuable resources to support student learning, as well as inspire and challenge me. #ycsdchat
A1: I use twitter mostly to show some activities I'm doing in my classroom. I also like to use twitter like my own personal professional learning place. I get to pick what I want or what is important to me at this time. #ycsdchat
I keep up with all the amazing things happening around our division on Twitter. It helps me feel more connected with teachers and administrators. #ycsdchat
A1- we use Twitter and fb to give our families and community a glimpse into the amazing things our Ss and Ts do at Coventry! We can connect to those who may not get a chance to visit the school during the day #YCSDchat
A1 - I have a personal Twitter and classroom Twitter to allow parents a glimpse into our day. Instagram also provides me with great inspirational ideas, though I'm not a follower than poster for IG.
#ycsdchat
A2: My middle schoolers think it is awesome to be in a picture or post on my Twitter. Any time my camera comes out they’re like “Are you Tweeting this?” #ycsdchat
A2--Twitter is an easy way to give quick shout-outs for achievements in the school community, Facebook can provide way of getting lengthier accomplishments, articles showcasing schools and division news #ycsdchat
A2: I actually like how our district highlights staff awards and school accomplishments through social media. I get to celebrate my peers in a format that I traditionally use. #ycsdchat
A2: I also love how social media gives me a chance to see what my colleagues are doing in their rooms and give positive feedback and encouragement. #ycsdchat
A2: Social media is a great way to tell our story!! It makes me a #ProudPrincipal to share the great things our Ss and Ts are doing with the division and the World!! #GrowingMyPLN#ycsdchat

A2: Last year I posted lots of pics to showcase our progress towards our #readingisMARVELous goal. I also love to highlight when a student comes in with a passion for a book or series. The students will often ask me to put them on twitter #ycsdchat
A2: Twitter keeps me up-to-date not only on the students at my school, but on what’s going on in my hometown in PA. It’s interesting to see how educational movements spread around the USA #ycsdchat
A1: I use Twitter to connect with various teachers within our division, as well as with teachers around the country. Great ideas and questions are just a tweet away! #YCSDchat
A2: Twitter gives glimpses into the amazing things teachers, students, and schools do. So much media coverage is scandals and failures; Twitter is a platform to acknowledge the great parts of public education. #ycsdchat
A2- I think the best part is when I can reach out to a student because I saw a photo of them or post from their classroom. The smiles are priceless when they know you've seen their hard work on social media! #YCSDchat
A1- I love social media and believe it is one of the easiest ways to communicate with stakeholders. I use twitter more than any other platform. #ycsdchat
A2: I really loved sharing my ABC Countdown with a picture of the activity for each day. I was able to share my ideas with @StoryKerr at DES! I can’t wait to see what they come up with for the year 😊 #YCSDchat
A2 I also think it’s important for the rest of the county to see what we are doing! Our Ts do amazing things and even our own admin don’t always get to see it. Twitter helps us get a glimpse into more classrooms #YCSDchat
A3: Since I teach kindergarten, definitely anything and everything literacy driven! Never thought of using a Pinterest board to connect with families. What an easy way to have things linked all in one place! #YCSDchat
A2: The more posts the better. If people tweet television shows minute to minute we can do the same for our awesome students. People will follow the story if you put it out there. #YCSDchat
@HeatherJYoung3 posts about a food truck every once and awhile; I always want to know more! I think a lot of our Twitter posts create intrigue and interest and connections! #ycsdchat
When I see a teacher tweet I try to get down and mention I saw it and how cool it was- we can’t be everywhere in the building at once so it’s great to always have a connection #ycsdchat
Developing great hashtags (awesome octothorpes) helps! I search #falconfam and #proudprincipal as examples. I think we could do campaigns like #caughtbeinggood and highlight people who do so much good for the school/community. #ycsdchat
A3: A classroom board would be great to share what’s going on. But specific skill boards would be really helpful so parents can help with practice or extending the learning! #ycsdchat
WOW how has 45 minutes flown by already with our #ycsdchat tonight?! Trying to keep up using both my phone and computer- I'm getting funny looks from my family #ycschat
A3: Pinterest is a time warp for me. I'm almost afraid to bring it into my library for fear of losing all sense of time! Ha! I'll have to put some thought into how I could use it in a meaningful way #ycsdchat
A3 have never thought about using Pinterest to communicate with families. Ideas are starting especially with helping families understand math concepts and not math tricks #ycsdchat
A3: I knew a teacher who used pinterest to share resources with students on various history topics and a counselor who used it as well, but I haven't seen this resource used a lot. #ycsdchat
A4: I talk about how much I LOVE twitter for PD all the time. I'd love to see more #YESFalcons get on board with #ycsdchat so they can share the amazing things they do every day and grow by learning from others
A4: As I stated earlier, I can filter through just what I need for the situation. For example, right now struggling with a student who thinks everything is funny. So I can search for resources and advice on that particular topic. #ycsdchat
A4 I use twitter to share tips, tricks and updates from things we use all the time like @MicrosoftEDU, @Edulastic,@flipgrid and @DoInkTweets . They post great ideas and even webinars through social media #YCSDchat
A4: I’d love to see some more YouTube videos roughly ten minutes in length that cover SOL History units. John Green does a series on YouTube, but he speaks so quickly and changes narrative thoughts so abruptly that it can be difficult to follow along. #ycsdchat
A key area of inclusion is the ability to access text in any language. Using @MSTranslator, we are adding the ability to real-time translate a page, word, or sentence into another language inside of the Immersive Reader. Check it out: https://t.co/pgmM3MI301#ELL#MicrosoftEDU
Yes!! I can’t wait to talk to my team about this. Parents ask for ideas and activities all the time that we use in the classroom. This will make that enrichment so much easier...and get the parents involved in their child’s learning 🤩 #YCSDchat
Q5: We wouldn’t go into a lesson w/o planning- so we have to use the same thoughtfulness when planning to tell our story https://t.co/jwHYKI793a#ycsdchat
A2 Coming in late #ycsdchat but great question! It’s fun to see what’s happening in YCSD and around the Country. I also use it to remind myself of fun things my Ss have done.
A4- #ycsdchat I would love to see more options for flexible PD time. On teacher workdays,I’m often grading &planning (to meet deadlines). I’d love to be able to do digital PD in flexible hours& free up some of that in school time for the “to do” list that’s always miles long
A5: I want to reach out to more authors and illustrators to help excite my Ss for reading. There are a lot of #kidlit authors that respond regularly. When you get a response and you share it with the kids (I tell them I'm "twitter famous" for a second) it's magical! #ycsdchat
A5 I think this would be a great thing for the schools’ tech teams to think about. How are we as a school, not just individual teachers, telling our school story? #GMStory#ycsdchat
A5: At this point I’m not actively planning 😬 it’s more like when something awesome happens or there’s a 💡moment I try to capture it and Tweet. #ycsdchat
Wouldn’t it be great if the division team of teachers in a content area could pull together to do a topic each and share in a common @YouTube space to pull as needed? Ss woudk also be able to use the bank of videos to prepare and review #YCSDchat
