Hi, sorry I’m late - Marlene Riccio from Dare #YCSDchat
  • MsZabicki Oct 17 @ 8:39 PM EDT

  • TiannaSAnthony - Moderator Oct 17 @ 8:39 PM EDT
A2: The more posts the better. If people tweet television shows minute to minute we can do the same for our awesome students. People will follow the story if you put it out there. #YCSDchat
  • drjaimemiller Oct 17 @ 8:40 PM EDT

  • MelissaLM_VA Oct 17 @ 8:41 PM EDT
When I see a teacher tweet I try to get down and mention I saw it and how cool it was- we can’t be everywhere in the building at once so it’s great to always have a connection #ycsdchat
    In reply to @chelseifox
  • chelseifox Oct 17 @ 8:41 PM EDT
A3 I have never used Pinterest for families but I get all kinds of great ideas myself from Pinterest! #YCSDchat

  • drjaimemiller Oct 17 @ 8:42 PM EDT
Developing great hashtags (awesome octothorpes) helps! I search #falconfam and #proudprincipal as examples. I think we could do campaigns like #caughtbeinggood and highlight people who do so much good for the school/community. #ycsdchat
    In reply to @TiannaSAnthony
  • chelseifox Oct 17 @ 8:43 PM EDT
And for me being at both schools, I can keep up with what teachers are doing when I’m not there. #YCSDchat
    In reply to @PaulaGaborSasin
  • PaulaGaborSasin Oct 17 @ 8:43 PM EDT
A3: A classroom board would be great to share what’s going on. But specific skill boards would be really helpful so parents can help with practice or extending the learning! #ycsdchat
  • hball1025 Oct 17 @ 8:43 PM EDT
This was my same thought-now I want to go search for some of these kinds of boards #ycsdchat

  • MarleneRiccio Oct 17 @ 8:43 PM EDT
A3: I never thought about Pinterest being a platform for sharing. Many of our Ts use dojo or bloomz to keep families connected #YCSDchat
  • MsInsley - Moderator Oct 17 @ 8:44 PM EDT
A3: Pinterest is a time warp for me. I'm almost afraid to bring it into my library for fear of losing all sense of time! Ha! I'll have to put some thought into how I could use it in a meaningful way #ycsdchat
  • mike_myoung Oct 17 @ 8:44 PM EDT
A3: I don't use Pinterest, but my wife @syoung_sandy does all the time. I think she uses it mostly to get ideas though. #ycsdchat
  • MelissaLM_VA Oct 17 @ 8:44 PM EDT
Our school ROCKS and so does this book!! It’s a great way to get started sharing your school/division story 🙌🏻 #ycsdchat
  • jtbknva Oct 17 @ 8:44 PM EDT
A3 have never thought about using Pinterest to communicate with families. Ideas are starting especially with helping families understand math concepts and not math tricks #ycsdchat
  • kecagle - Moderator Oct 17 @ 8:45 PM EDT
A3: I knew a teacher who used pinterest to share resources with students on various history topics and a counselor who used it as well, but I haven't seen this resource used a lot. #ycsdchat
  • hball1025 Oct 17 @ 8:45 PM EDT

    In reply to @MsZabicki
  • mike_myoung Oct 17 @ 8:47 PM EDT
A4: As I stated earlier, I can filter through just what I need for the situation. For example, right now struggling with a student who thinks everything is funny. So I can search for resources and advice on that particular topic. #ycsdchat
  • chelseifox Oct 17 @ 8:48 PM EDT
A4 I use twitter to share tips, tricks and updates from things we use all the time like @MicrosoftEDU, @Edulastic,@flipgrid and @DoInkTweets . They post great ideas and even webinars through social media #YCSDchat

    In reply to @PaulaGaborSasin, @edutopia
  • REEdelstein Oct 17 @ 8:48 PM EDT
A4: I’d love to see some more YouTube videos roughly ten minutes in length that cover SOL History units. John Green does a series on YouTube, but he speaks so quickly and changes narrative thoughts so abruptly that it can be difficult to follow along. #ycsdchat
  • MarleneRiccio Oct 17 @ 8:48 PM EDT
A4: I like to follow other educators on twitter esp educators whose PD I’ve attended at workshops & conferences #YCSDchat

  • MsZabicki Oct 17 @ 8:52 PM EDT
Yes!! I can’t wait to talk to my team about this. Parents ask for ideas and activities all the time that we use in the classroom. This will make that enrichment so much easier...and get the parents involved in their child’s learning 🤩 #YCSDchat

@Pinterest for use in the classroom & to get resources to families easily— yes please 🙌🏻 #YCSDchat
  • cdbauer Oct 17 @ 8:55 PM EDT
A2 Coming in late #ycsdchat but great question! It’s fun to see what’s happening in YCSD and around the Country. I also use it to remind myself of fun things my Ss have done.
  • jtbknva Oct 17 @ 8:55 PM EDT
A5 I have to process these ideas and see how the team I work with can engage our teachers in communication, PD and PLCs. #ycsdchat
  • drjaimemiller Oct 17 @ 8:55 PM EDT
A4- #ycsdchat I would love to see more options for flexible PD time. On teacher workdays,I’m often grading &planning (to meet deadlines). I’d love to be able to do digital PD in flexible hours& free up some of that in school time for the “to do” list that’s always miles long

Wouldn’t it be great if the division team of teachers in a content area could pull together to do a topic each and share in a common @YouTube space to pull as needed? Ss woudk also be able to use the bank of videos to prepare and review #YCSDchat
