9pm EST - time for another edition of #swarmfbchat Take a minute to say HI and follow each other. Like and RT as much as you want to get max exposure/responses. I'll toss out Q1 in a couple minutes. Welcome.
A1: We will do a "convoy" drill that focus on both the takeaway and returning the ball for a TD where the entire defense sprints to the endzone. #swarmfbchat
A1. This one I hope we can add. Others include 1on1 trying to make a short yardage stop. They start separated by a dummy. Ballcarrier picks a side and try to keep him from crossing the line. Also takeaway drills, and fence drill. #swarmfbchat
I try to stay away from live tackling in practice as much as possible, but sometimes it’s necessary to work Open Field Tackling.
If you go live, this drill from Rutgers is a great way to do it!
- WR & DB start back to back
- Sprint around the Cone
- Open Field Tackle
Q2: This one is from @freezysmalls He wants to know when do you scrap the gameplan during a game defensively? Ebb and Flow? Offense dictates? #swarmfbchat
A2: My response: we never scrap it; we believe in what we do, especially our rules; we may add stunt/blitz/coverage, but we are going to go with what we worked on during the week. #swarmfbchat
A1: LB/DB will all work shuffle shock/Iso drill (on a bag). Emphasis on same foot/shoulder andstriking low to high and knocking the blocker backwards. It gets them to focus on being physical with blockers + how to win #swarmfbchat
