A2: Encourage folks to GET OUT of their silos- go to conferences, EdCamps, join at least one social medium (Twitter, Instagram, etc.) It's so important to hear other voices, opinions, ideas! Even in a large district like mine, it's important to get out! #TOSAchat

A1: Oh boy, my school community is awesome, but I’m going to focus on my grade level team. They are professional, respectful, and resourceful. As a new teacher to the team, I have been supported in immeasurable ways. #tosachat

A2: PLNs are so powerful in helping educators see they are not alone when they try to be innovative in the classroom. They help us grow and stay strong. I try to help others grow their PLN by spreading the gospel of twitter and encouraging them to attend conferences #TOSAchat
A2: I learned of teachers using Twitter for education at a conference and saw all the learning coming from it. I knew I wanted a part of that. #tosachat
I’m not saying that twitter is always inauthentic. But we craft our 140-280 word tweets so it’s prepared, and tone can be misunderstood. I’m still honing my skills, but feel better at making real connections face to face. #tosachat
A3: This is difficult to answer. Connecting digitally has helped me form partnerships all over the globe. Face to face interactions deepen the conversation. What’s great is when my digital connections become face to face connections. #TOSAchat

I just try to be real. Relationships matter. When building connections with others, I always tried to let my Ts know that I was FOR them, was there as a layer of support & they didn't have to be embarrassed to ask for help. Genuine connections. That's my strategy.
great way to consider both! improving instructional and professional practices can happen (and does happen!) in so many ways... the reach of digital allows us to literally have learning at our fingertips from all corners of the world. I love that. #tosachat
A4: My go to platform for building community in my district, especially for small teams, or ad hoc teams in #GoogleHangouts.‼️ gives us text-chat & video conference abilities without having to exchange cell numbers or emails. I’ve seen some great stuff come of it. #TOSAchat 🌠

I hate making mistakes or coming off as stupid - digital gives me the option of easily correcting - F2F doesn’t and I honestly both like and need that because mistakes are what humanizes us :) #tosachat
It’s really been amazing. They quickly started using it as a platform to ask and answer each other’s troubleshooting questions and then they started using as a collab partner start point. Awesome. #TOSAchat
I vary how I use Twitter...sometimes it's a complete thought, other times it's all abbreviated... I totally get it. I went w F2F too, I thrive on human connections. #tosachat
Q3: I like F2F with my colleagues and Ts, but so enjoy the digital life of Twitter. F2F has the "real" qualities - body language, voice, etc. Digital life can be misunderstood, but I like the 24/7 nature of it. #tosachat

Ts can empower their Ss by providing pathways to their immediate community. Create opportunities to connect w local businesses, City Council, experts & beyond! You can invite the world in through @SkypeClassroom@Flipgrid & more! ...seek out opportunities! 🌏
A4: We tried Google plus with some success but I think Youtube can build a great community too. I am working on it but I love following and learning from other people. #TOSAchat

A4: I'm lucky that so many ppl in my PLN make podcasts so feels like I'm always connected with them as I listen to them drop knowledge bombs on my commute. With my school district, I try to get as much F2F time with Ts - best way to build and strengthen connections! #TosaChat
A5: Ts need to see the value in a creating a global community of learners. I have aligned ISTE standards to Common Core math practices, ELA capacities, NGSS, H/SS, and Career Ready so they can see that we are being asked to provide opportunities for global collaboration #TOSAchat
A5: We need to help Ts create authentic opportunities for Ss to connect with their community. Design challenges, problem solving, etc. Also helping Ss connect with an authentic audience through their work (like podcasts, blogs, etc.) #TosaChat

A5: I’ve always thought it would be cool to have a digital guest speaker series by getting professionals in different subjects to do a Google Hangout with a class to share what they do and let kids ask questions. #TOSAchat
Working on it! My hope is to get more Ts using @Flipgrid this year. We also use @Seesaw for our K-5 Ss - would love to see more classes take advantage of the blog feature and connect w/ other classes! #tosachat
