Hello! Christian! Brookview ES! Instructional Tech Coach
I see we are trickling in from a long day of testing:) We'll wait 2 more minutes.
Hey, family! Stephanie Immel from Ridgeview Charter school here!
Hey! We didn't lose internet today!
Kenneth Livingston - Nolan Elementary
a1: How you grow professionally! What are you learning!
The app went down :( We were in testing rooms until 4, but our teachers and students were troopers!
Any training/activity that help you grow in your profession.
Q1: Professional Learning is continuing education for the profession you are in
A1. Not what we do every Monday no matter what...
A1: Growing in understanding and practice of your profession
A1 Any learning that helps you grow professionally
a1. Workshops that are mostly interactive that provide support and a greater depth of knowledge.
A1. What is PD? It's Twitter, EdCamp, observing a good T, class too.
A2: Know your audience/learners; and try to know their needs and interests
A2: In person training, articles, observation. I even learn from my Ss many days!
Hello all, Cynthia Hardy Heritage ES
A2. Most effective is to watch it in action, then do it w others advising.
A2: job embedded, learning walks, , coaching, modeling, etc.
Hello...Shawanna Arnold frrom
it's anything you seek out to help you grow as an educator and person.
I’ve seen a really cool coaching model with coaches providing real time feedback through ear pieces in classrooms
A2. A workshop that begins with the end in mind.
A3: TRUTH! However, how do we motivate others to seek out that knowledge proactively like so many of us folk already do?
A lot of learning comes from talking to peers who have the same passion
A2 Twitter, You Tube have been my go to lately
Actually yrs ago had prof do that. He said its not coaching but diff form of training & doesn't allow talk back.
Good point! The dialogue would definitely b hindered. I wonder if there are any other forms that would help that?
A3: I have found, especially through , that networking can be very strong PD!
A3: If we have that expectation for our students, shouldn't we provide the model.
A3. The problem is going down the rabbit hole. It's hard to come back from Wonderland.
A4. I'm still learning to use the new features. Does that count? :-)
Document sharing could be used for professional learning
A4: can share and store documents and create excel surveys
Key word is "learning". So YES!!! https://t.co/EzsNOwL2oS
A4. I'm still learning to use the new features. Does that count? :-)
A4: Love the accessibility! Still working to get Ts to embrace it.Great place to post info for easy access for Ts.
A4: , … the possibilities are endless for storing, creating, and offering PD through
A4 still playing w/ Office 365 Can see One Note being a great tool for sharing info w/ Ts & Ss
A3: if we expect our Ss to be life long learners, we MUST model that. Walk the walk!
I like to use OneDrive for collaboration with my colleagues.
I collaborated w/Vanguard member through skype. It allows access on their computer w/their permission
A4. Simplifies anything that has to do with collaboration. Can turn a boring list of facts/resources into a living document.
LOVING our training with ! Def helping to learn the education uses
peeps, is also having a chat about PD right now. Very cool to see the similarities between chats
I have the up next to this one on my tweetdeck, too!
A4. Collaboration is the key to using one doc for professional training and development!
Sorry I'm late, ! I was helping out a friend tonight and just got home!
a5: Voxer, Twitter, and most importantly great people!
A4: I agree with Collaboration! I always learn something useful during these chats!
I love Twitter! I am learning so much from my P.E. Colleagues across the country and sharing with my Fulton County Friends
I agree with . Surrounding myself w/great minds is my best resource!
A5: , , and my colleagues (both current and past)!
A5: I also like sites like to stay current with my info!
Imagine Walkie Talkie meets social media! Great for conversations! Great for observations!
A5 Twitter is a great way to keep up with a broad array of topics!
just made it! Sorry so late.
A5: I’m also really enjoying the book by !
my good friend in Dallas is great at using Voxer for Observations and making them authentic esp for feedback!
A5. I like word clouds to visualize ideas before PD and make feedback from participants visually appealing after PD.
A6: works best if the PD in highly interactive.
Do you have TweetDeck on your computer?! It's an app in the chrome store
A6: YES! Why aren't more done this way? & I are going to host one for a course we're facilitating.
A6 Virtual meetings can be less intrusive but still informative!
a6: Im for virtual PD; however, don’t toss the baby out with the bathwater. Both are needed!
If they are thoughtfully planned out, Virtual PD are great! They also need to be interactive to keep participants engaged!
A6: I LOVE virtual PD, but not everyone is on board yet. There’s definitely a need for interaction and as we move toward this
A6. The problem w virtual mtgs is everyone's engagement. It can be hard in person but really, really hard online.
all I can say is Jesus be a fence!
YES and obsessed with it!!!!!
A6 I like virtual, but still love face to face. I learned so much from this year, sad she is leaving my school
- I love "thoughtfully planned out." Just b/c they're virtual doesn't mean they don't need the same prep!
It's so easy to get distracted with virtual...
A6 -2. I got my last master's online & working on doctorate. Taking course in online grp collab. Harder than looks.
A6 Sometimes virtual pd great due to varied knowledge of subject and ability to multitask
A6: Where to begin? Always trying to explore more of , but want more of and !
A6-2 Definitely technology exploration!
It's gotta be . It's so expansive that you need a lot of time to learn about all of its power!
I would love to have time with Office365 I feel like there is so much I could do with it
excuse the typo, it should be question 7
And isn’t it so beautiful?!?!?! :)
A6. Office Mix. My main obstacle in PD is making is engaging, interesting, and visually appealing. Creativity is hard. :(
A6 I would love to have time with Office365 I feel like there is so much I could do with it
OneNote for me. I see the power, summer project goal for myself.
A7: And… we could always lobby for as a district resource and training for ALL teachers :)
A7. Office Mix. My main obstacle in PD is making is engaging, interesting, and visually appealing. Creativity is hard. :(
Trainings coming over the summer for all!!!!
- I'm happy to lead that fight! ☺️
Q7: I would say christain brain, because I can only imagine how much I could learn :)
IMdigging Nearpod so start the lobbying!!
I'm happy to lobby with you :)
Please don’t judge me! LOL! https://t.co/Nbce6yZGeE
Q7: I would say christain brain, because I can only imagine how much I could learn :)
I would like to learn more about OneNote! It's a great resource with lots of potential for learning.
are they logging in through the portal site? I’ve never seen that message pop up
I haven’t used class notebook yet? But even for me at times, that happens
Be on the lookout for the trainings coming soon from our peeps!! … plugging away! ;)
Yes! This is the message i was talking about in the meeting. It even happens to me at times when I am using 365
That’s frustrating!! If I see that pop up I’ll let you know and join the trouble shooting efforts
Q8: To conclude our chat list your preferred Professional Development method (in person, virtual etc..)
A8: As long as I’m collaborating in some shape form or fashion AND I’m learning… I’m game for anything :)
a8: 1: In person! Nothing beat authentic relationships and human connection! 2: virtual (twitter and then boxer)
auto correct kicked in Voxer
A8: Like both depending on the topic and presentation. Both can be great!
A8 no real favorite, just want to keep learning & teaching new things
A8: I am a hand-on and visual learner, so in person is best for me! But I have done well with virtual when it counts!
A8. Lifelong introvert - Virtual all the way here!
A8: I like mine flipped with some follow up small group work after. Real classroom examples are the key.
A8- Mixture of both in person and virtual or option for either if u have time constraints. My best work is done at 10:00pm!
As a P.E. teacher, I prefer PD in person. It helps me to actually see and participate in the game/activity/lesson.
I like using in-person and virtual PD. This helps me learn hands on and online!
A8: One thing our PD is missing from time-to-time is real classroom examples. That is so powerful.
