Spent some time in tourist trap of Wisconsin Dells. The toddler got to do a lot of new things. And I decided to teach adults. It’s totally different. #BmoreEdchat

A1: Over the summer, I help work at our family campground, Blue Jay campsite in Tupper Lake NY (Adirondack mountains) This is my summer view and place to refresh and recharge #BmoreEdchat
A1: LOTS of PD! Went to the Innovative Schools Summit in Atlanta. Heard amazing educators like @PrincipalKafele@chrisemdin@RJMotivates speak! Was so re-energized I created a power point of info collected there & shared it w/admin @ my school #Bmoreedchat
Rudy - chief education officer @mbrt and Ed.D. student researching effective teacher supports @JHUeducation. Excited to be reconnected with the #BmoreEdchat PLC for the 2018-19 school year!
#BmoreEdchat Over the summer, I was the lead for ESY. I gave teachers innovative strategies to use in the classroom. Has everyone heard of Mystery Doug? I recharged by getting a glass of wine and relaxing and shopping.
A1: I took the summer to focus on recharging and healthy eating. Fell in love with racquetball @TowsonU free courts. Also helped set up and paint @MsValerioBCPS new AP office.❤️ #BmoreEdchat
A2 P2: Wondering What MSDE will do with the state testing contract that expires relatively soon. Also wonder if The Sun will ever get around to discussing it. #BmoreEdchat
A2: the whole "starting over" gives me the jitters. Making sure all procedures are explained and understood while creating a positive classroom culture. But, I've had students for 1 1/2 weeks and so far so good! #BmoreEdchat
A2: Making sure all of our New Ts feel supported throughout the school year! #phasesoffirstyears Can’t wait to meet all of the first year teachers working with our great mentors!!! #BmoreEdchat
A2: Worried that I've spread myself too thin! I have K-8 classes to teach, faculty to facilitate, and helping to plan this year's @CommonGroundMD conference!
#bmoreedchat
A2: jumping in! We have SO MANY new initiatives this year - I’m jittery about rolling everything out and it being a good experience for the teachers and students!! #BmoreEdchat
A2 Honestly I think for me the jitters is anxiety over being in s rut. This is Year 14 in the same position. The other concern is building on our incidences from last yr & not simply moving on from them. #BmoreEdchat
A2: Excitement about our projections @mbrt to reach nearly triple the number of @MdPublicSchools we served last year, & add our soon-to-be-released app, Way to Be!, to the list of free resources for Gr. 7-12 students to explore college & career options & key steps! #BmoreEdchat
A3: To change practice in our HPE community to recognize and celebrate fantastic HPE teachers and programs that represent the diversity of our country. #BMoreEdChat. Also to not get fired... :)
KIPP Wheatly. So much reading and writing! And, the activities are super engaging! There's just so many elements to it that it gets overwhelming. But, if I can master it, my kids will soar! #bmoreedchat
#BmoreEdchat A3: Ensuring mentors feel supported and prepared to develop new @BaltCitySchools Teachers so that they feel supported and prepared to #teachbmore !!!!
A4) I wrote 3 SMART goals to help guide my work with teachers and students this year. I also have a giant whiteboard in my office that I use to make lists and remind myself of the objectives that I’m trying to achieve & the steps needed to reach those objectives. #BmoreEdchat
A4: I've already analyzed all 54 of my Ss reading data from last year and know their strengths and areas of growth! Now it's time to get planning so I have super awesome guided reading lessons! #readbabyread#BmoreEdchat
A4: Find accountability partners. Was stressed/exhausted at end of the year...wasn't working out as much. I got with a trainer & meeting him at the gym helped me get back on track. Finding a colleague to hold me accountable in other areas too. #bmoreEDchat
A4: plan to divide day into three 1:45 blocks, where one administrator is unavailable because they are observing instruction. Schedule will rotate biweekly between 3 admin. Other 2 on call when not their time of day to be in rooms. #BmoreEdchat
A4:I want my students to be just as invested in my goals as I am! I plan on sharing goals with them, as they share their goals with me. We will hold each other accountable for our goals as a class community! Kids don’t forget anything!! #bmoreedchat
#BmoreEdchat A4:Use @NewTeacherCtr program standards and #bmorementor induction data to select areas of focus. Work with the amazing Fred @NewTeacherCtr to discuss, reflect and adjust as the school year continues
Be careful of the signals sent by questioning! Folks always want to know the why behind your questions and you intentions! Questioning important and dangerous and same time. #BmoreEdchat
A4: Taking care of small things..spending weekends to pack materials (lunch, prep clothes for the week) allows me more time in the mornings to be refreshed for work and ready to tackle personal goals. Small things add up for me. #BmoreEdChat
Q4. I like the idea of a shared goal with just one or two other people. Something you can work on together or individually, but talk about about honestly without excuses #BmoreEdchat
A5: engage as a community, share fun summer stories, break bread together, engage in #mindfulness practices, team building exercises, etc. #BmoreEdchat
A4: Setting individual goals that are extensions of team goals and establishing regular intervals to check-in helps me keep better track of progress-mutual accountability aka low stress peer pressure! #BmoreEdchat
A5: engage as a community, share fun summer stories, break bread together, engage in #mindfulness practices, team building exercises, etc. #BmoreEdchat
A5: that’s easy - find any way possible to lower their stress. I once watched a teachers newborn for two hours so she could get stuff done in her room. Also, get them any thing they need when they need it if you can. Your willingness to help will pay dividends! #BmoreEdchat
A5: This week during PD, each staff member is in charge of observing a colleague in the work. At the end of the week, we share our positive noticings about the person and the work that that they do. This can also be done with students! #bmoreedchat
#bmoreedchat A1: this is tough especially when some much of my summer is already spent on school activities. Big thing was signing up for a run. Training gives you alone time to reflect and think and keeps you in shape
5) Engage in collaborative planning, create opportunities to share ideas and concerns. We eat lunch together. We also planned a few after school activites. #BmoreEdchat
I simply ask questions. The more you talk with your colleagues, the more commonalities you find and interesting stories you learn. Educational spaces are not only for building relationships with students. #BmoreEdchat
#BmoreEdchat A5: I try to make sure I’m seen throughout the building. To me, it shows you’re available and willing, not hiding in your wing of the bldg.
#bmoreedchat A2: I’m teaching a new elective course this year. American Civil War I love the content bits it’s gonna be a ton to create new curriculum for it

A5 My children’sschool had a bulletin board in the lobby where anyone in the school community could give shout outs. Sometimes we get so focused on our work with the students that we forget to acknowledge each other in spontaneous ways. #BmoreEdchat
A3 & A4 I’d like to develop an College app essay program for rising seniors AND an understanding affording college for Middle School & Elem School Parents. A4 I would like to work w/my dept to develop these further. #BmoreEdchat
#bmoreedchat A3: I started my @LoyolaEducation leadership internship today. Big goal is to make sure that project turns into something really useful and lasting for my school

A6: I went to a Restorative Practices session during our @HCPSS_HEPE PE PD today and it was excellent. I plan to do more community circles in #physed class. Have really large classes so I'm already thinking of a plan on how to do it. #BmoreEdchat
A6: Sometimes when I’m teaching, I’m thinking of all that needs to get done and struggle to be “in the moment” with my students. I want to be in the moment more with them so I can learn from them #BmoreEdchat
#bmoreedchat A4: I always try to break things down into smaller more achievable goals that lead to the bigger goal. Also reflection and flexibility will help the plan be student centered and change to best fit the situation
A6: hoping to do more small group lunch bunches this year. Also, listening to students as they hang out with each other teaches me a lot as well. #BmoreEdchat
A5: Started our team meeting with a community circle question this week to get to know other colleagues & model building community in our classes. Our school encourages community circles & I'd like to do more in our team meetings #BmoreEdchat
A5: Two things. 1. Be friendly 2. Be involved. Putting yourself out there and working on things together always builds relationships. Also happy hours! #BmoreEdchat

#BmoreEdchat A6: I will listen more intently to the conversations in class to him then express what they’re learning. Sometimes it appears that they’re off task, but I’ve heard students in healthy debate about something they’ve learned (whether in our classroom or another’s).
A5 my CC dept meets weekly which allows us to check-in & plan. TBH our entire dept (guidance & college) has been together for 10+ years (for most part). May need to shake some things up with us! #BmoreEdchat

A7: @mswilkerson8 shared this with our admin team the other day. We must not be afraid to step up & believe in your abilities to inspire & build stories of success with kids. #BmoreEdchat
A7) “Be the change you want to see in the world!” I have this posted in my room. I need remember even when I get stressed to be the change! I have a lot of eyes on me, I need to be the model. #BmoreEdchat

Your goal partner doesn’t even have to be someone you see regularly. Checking in by phone, text, or email helps motivate, and also provides opportunity to share all the small wins along the way with someone who is similarly invested #BmoreEdchat
A6: being flexible and open to students interests. Let a convo go in an unplanned direction or be willing to change a lesson on the fly to better meet student interests and make lasting meaning #BmoreEdchat
