For me controlling a car on the edge of grip, handling and the heat of competition takes you so far away from the 'day' job it clears all those stresses. It is also a team / community sport. #asechat
Plus an hour working on the car in the garage can (most times) again take you away from the day job and gets hands on and do something productive. #ASEchat
Welcome to #ASEchat Did you have a #snowday? We're talking about ways to unwind during the holidays tonight? Or unwind after the stress of driving in the #Snow ❄️☃️
I remember a rally in Wales where I saw a car come down a icy hill with its front wheels spinning like mad and it was going backwards down the hill! Only just made it up that hill #ASEchat
HI Lucie #asechat that sounds like a good plan. So is part of winding down, working extra hard at the end of term to give you breathing space? #asechat
@NeedhamL56 Given the very well-researched area of the effects of stress on the body we think #wellbeing and #teacherworkload are crucial! But yes we caught that whiff of sarcasm #ASEchat
Anyone use the Christmas hols to visit local science attractions? Great for @_ScienceCapital for our own children.. or do they sigh #scienceland#asechat
Has to be - otherwise you feel guilty over hols. Make a list of what has to be done before you go on hols. Hate to come back to marking and a messy room #asechat

We take it easy, listen to some Christmas songs and break the journey with stopovers. It’s all worth it. The annual sibling Premier Inn overnighter is a hotly anticipated event 😂 #asechat
Best book I found on organisation and time management is called 'the together teacher' there is also one called 'the together leader' both American but helped me become more efficient and feel less guilty. #asechat
How do you look after each other as the term draws to a close? people on their knees? Is it more tricky for science teachers? #asechat do you have a staff ‘do’ or does this add to #workload ?

the break is always a great time to do things i've been meaning to do- we have a few temp. exhibits in the local science museum that id love to see #asechat
@urbansketchers have lots of groups across the country and the world. Take a pencil and a sketchbook and go and draw with them. Makes it less scary. And draw... and draw and draw... don't stop #ASEchat

Couple of #ASEConf s ago we had a workshop on 'drawing an apple'. Fascinating the range of outcomes. I always draw like a biologist so envious of artists #asechat

You have to silence your inner critic that tells you it doesn't look like the image and embrace the wonkiness @lizsteelart@DannyGregory were the two that started it for me #asechat

Why what's this? A beautiful way to unwind colouring in the microscopic world #ASEchat (couldn't have planned this plug better) https://t.co/6TxLjwPzyG
This year, we are going back on 2nd Jan - did that once before - everyone was like a zombie. Remember hearing the sound of my own voice in the class while silent kids stared blankly at the board... #asechat
We haven't organised a dept 'do' which probably shows how stretched we all feel as no-one has had chance to think about it... Baked goods and chocolates are arriving in our dept staff room though and we're planning Christmas chemistry lessons #asechat
