Help out https://t.co/I9U6GWvH0g
We would like to start gathering donations of instructional materials to offer these educators as they start to rebuild.
And scheduled pickups. We will deliver to educators in August. We've contacted the supers, and they are on board!
Please tweet me or if you want to help!
A1: I've had this happen. I let the students speak, nod, and move on. Students do not need involved in teacher issues!
Missy Ruddle, Assistant Supt. For C & I in Kanawha County
I can bring some of it to WVSTC. If you let me know exactly what is needed, will pass on to staff
This looks great! It will b much appr curated
Yes this teacher did not like some stuff I did or even me. I would hear a lot from kids on lunch duty... just ignored
It's happened a few times, I move on. They are usually trying to get under your skin. Be the better person.
A1: Just stay far far away from drama.
A1 Smack about my class? It must be because it was . Let them talk-I am good w/my teaching
Starting w/basic supplies & I can share a list l8r. https://t.co/0g7lHAL5Z8
Anything you need! Where do we donate? What can we send?
S1: Don't let Ss in on the drama. If it keeps happening or upsets too much, have an adult conversation. https://t.co/ckRhy8XyQw
A1: Student approval > next door teacher approval.
A2: It depends. A teacher can be within the letter of the law & not be effective...and then there's not much to do...
A2 Mention that every Ts is diff & make best until you can speak w/admin & Ts privately Do not drag Ss into pedagogy convo
A2: But with all concerns, I would support the student to make their concerns known to the admin in charge of curriculum.
A2: not my place to tell them whether the T is right or wrong. S may be trying to start something. If they aren't in danger no go
A2: Sometimes S's may not like a teacher even if the instruction is good. Can't believe everything.
S2: Be part of the solution. Help build your colleagues up. Be a team player. Co-teach, model, share ideas, help them be better.
A2: investigate to see if there is truth, then deal talk with Ts and admin to see what can be done
A2: Can't impact other Ts w/o a relationship. Don't say or do anything to damage that. Empower other T by reaching their heart.
A2: support student voices, ask them what they would like to do about it, whining doesn't work
A2 Collaboration is key to our school's success. A great cohesive unit! Everyone is open to suggestions on how to improve.
A3: If I've never seen that behavior, I'm assuming I have a positive relationship established with this student. I start there...
Relationships are fragile. Collab. is important among Ts. Help others change & work together 2 do what's best 4 Ss.
A3: S X may have different relationship w/ other T. Different teacher environments create different student reactions
A3 Talk to all Ts on team, see what problem is and make a plan together to solve it
A3: I would reach out to the student to try to derive the cause of the behavior. I have, however, gone to teachers before in cases
A3: ...like this. Sometimes, we all just need to get on the same page.
We should all have a growth mindset. We can always improve to do what's right for Ss!
A3: recognize that we all have different relationships with Ss, different subjects, different class times.
Seen it many times. S X does great in one room/subject, but acts out in another
A3 Not everyone has same relationship-talk w/Ss to see what issues come up then w/Ts on team It may be personality & just conflict
A3: I've noticed through experience that some students are sometimes more receptive to males rather than females, and vice versa.
A3 prob good opp to ask other T reflective Qs. When was last time u praised? Talked at lunch table? Sat w/ b4 schl? Wrote a note?
A3: Offer to observe in T's class to see if there is something triggering behavior.
S3: Collaborate & compare tch strategies. What works for kid X in your room vs. mine? Interest inventories? Motivators?
A4: Of course they do! 😂 but seriously, keep trucking. They also want to know how you handle things when they don't go well!
A4: They usually understand. It's usually when I'm trying something completely new.
A4: Uhh, melt into the floor? Do what I can, then talk to admin later about what went wrong and how to improve
A4: have a sense of humor, get over yourself, ask observer to help, discuss it with observer later, reflect
A4 Hopefully there is a contingency in place that can be implemented when a lesson gets to the point of no return, live and learn
A4 It's a part of , & share w/prin. adapt+move on to productive act.
A4: As an admin I tell teachers to celebrate failures as well as successes. Better to take risks sometimes. Always learning!
is what keeps us moving forward https://t.co/hMKVVUHWyy
A4: As an admin I tell teachers to celebrate failures as well as successes. Better to take risks sometimes. Always learning!
And a good reason for keeping a blog ;)
As P, it wld mean mor to me if T just ownd it. Im tryng to cultivate risk taking. Wn't always wrk. Status-quo recipe 4 mediocrity.
A4: Give a big woo-hoo with your class and your principal and celebrate failure
Ding Ding https://t.co/DwvqACUCph
A4: As an admin I tell teachers to celebrate failures as well as successes. Better to take risks sometimes. Always learning!
You could always make a Minecraft server for Minecraft PE and use mods :P A lot of differences, I know!
Yes, and then invite them back to observe the new and improved lesson! https://t.co/27HdI0sfVb

A5: I'm at a total loss of words...
A5: Take into consideration. Tech doesn't always have to be used! Right tool, right time!
A5: Been there. I looked into the frustrations and made changes to my course. I ask for feedback so I can adapt to needs!
A5: Have this not anonymously, have to let kids know that tech in ed is the future, not just for their fun time.
A5 In all seriousness, I may encounter this more in the upcoming years. My new series is supposed to be all, or mostly digital.
A4: Risktaking is so important to show students as is learning from failure
Gotta cut out early - family in town from Sweden. I'll check transcript l8r.
A5: Blended learning & student choice. Help all have tools to be successful.
A5 been there. Ss good at playing game of schl wanted 2go back to point grabbing, Xtra credit gvng classes. Needed to place blame.
Hello friends! Leanna peeking in from KY- tweeting from
Hope you're having a great time @ ISTE! What is your most favorite thing so far from your time there?
lot of great things! I'm really enjoying all of the maker tools!
A6: Answer the questions your P has. If you gave it, you should be able to defend it. Defend the professionalism of your job.
A6: Gather info necessary on student/test documentation. Then call to discuss. If seems to be escalating, ask for conference
A6 Have them look at what the student submitted on your LMS and the accompanying rubric
A6: My P would tell me he handled it and just wanted to let me know. Great Admins make great Ts
A5: I find parents are more concerned with lack of text than the students.
