This year I watched a colleague explain a difficult concept to a student. I know this sounds so everyday but the way she kept changing her track until the student finally understood was one of those moments when you know you have watched an artisan practicing their craft #bfc530

I think the best thing I see teachers do is showing students that they truly love them and care about them and their future. This comes in so many different moments, large and small. From team chants to start each class to one on ones in the hall, relationships matter. #bfc530

A colleague was given a medal as a gift by one of his Kindergarten students. Five years later, on PJ day, he had it pinned to his top. The S couldn't believe that he still had it. #bfc530
I was late to class because of a meeting running late. When I got there the class instructional assistant had opened the lesson without missing a beat - she continued to teach the whole period. She rocked it! She isn’t on Twitter but our principal is @WoolieJrSrHS 😉 #bfc530

Yesterday I saw/heard our French teacher teaching (dancing & singing around the room) her class holiday songs in French so she can carol around the school next week. She loves it so much you just have to smile watching her engage the kids:)
I was fortunate to student teacher under a man named Joe Ryan, NY who ran a Living History program. Kids marching about as North & South, sewing their uniforms, and ending with an encampment so they can not only know the facts but be drawn into the drama of history #bfc530

I had to do several teacher observations for my Transition to Teaching program. I looked up the local award winners to observe. The kindergarten teacher told me that she treated her students as young adults and this change fostered higher expectations. It worked. #bfc530

My colleagues impress me with their dedication to their craft, and all the work they put in after hours, that most people dont see. They'd do anything for their Ss ❤#bfc530

That's the song that greets my students as they enter my class every Friday. Once I had a student refuse to enter the class until the song was finished. It became "his thing" & was a great memory of the year for all of us. #bfc530

Happy Friday everyone. The best thing I’ve seen a teacher do is support a student even after he was ridiculously mean to her. She sensed his anger was due to other reasons and her kindness allowed her to reach him. #BFC530

As recently as yesterday--@jhesson83 was dressed as a farmer and her kids were too. They were rounding up pigs (pink balloons) with math problems on them. The answer to the problem determined which "pen" they were placed. It was so much fun to watch! #bfc530
One of my colleagues started a garden to help a student grieve the loss of his mother. She would carefully tend the flowers with him every day at recess and give him space and time to mourn. He continues to visit it everyday. #bfc530
Yesterday I was at Stop and Shop. The checkout girl said:: You are a teacher. I remember bc I had you. YOu were my favorite.

It’s definitely unusual to get a snow this big in December! It has been such a wet year for us... it’s raining buckets today and tomorrow! Now we have a flood watch! 😳
That's awesome! We had a homebound student a few yrs ago. A company offered a robot w/video & audio that allowed him to "walk" the hallway and enter classes w/his friends. You would see his face on a screen as well. Best part though was he made a full recovery. #bfc530

The thing about #bfc530 that everyone is missing is that we are on the verge of runaway climate change and we need a complete re-think of the global economy to ensure a just society & avoid planetary catastrophe.
Last year a very talented teacher and his students won the Samsung STEM challenge contest and won $150,000 for our school. The students created a sensor to go into a football helmet and an app to record the results. @HarveyUSR@Samsung#BFC530
