-
Fantastic! Spring is arriving here in Eastern Canada.
-
Sorry I am late! Christie Norwalk
-
A1: A belief that you can improve through hard work and perseverance.
-
A1 Growth mindset is willing to push beyond the boundaries that have been set for you: by self or others! PUSH! Excuses Mucus!
-
Sorry I'm late. A1 reflecting on past lessons. Always looking to improve
-
A1: the ability to know that you can learn and change your learning, understanding of topic
-
A1 GM-Ss need to try new strats + seek input from others when stuck. A repertoire of approaches—not just sheer effort—to learn/grow
-
-
A1: A believe that learning is not just for the “smart” but for anyone who is willing to work hard and endure. That we can change
-
-
A1: Constantly improving yourself and fostering growth in others for the joy of learning
-
Glad you made it Erin. Welcome to this evening’s chat jump right in
-
reflection is so important for growth mindset
-
A1: I also think about the GM about always challenging and pushing the boundaries of what's possible in order to help our students.
-
A1 believing you have the capacity to achieve; recognizing that this may not be easy or straightforward
-
A1: growth mindset - a willingness to do what is necessary for forward movement and progress
-
-
-
What is so scary is how ubiquitous the fixed mind set is in our education system. Wow
-
It's not having a growth mindset or fixed mindset. We have continuum of both- just need to recognize, reflect and grow.
-
Growth mindset cannot be achieved without daily reflection: celebrations and needed improvements
-
-
A2: Asking the right questions, providing feedback to help attain a goal, supporting a risk free classroom, & encouraging reflection.
-
I agree! My favorite class in college was called "the reflective educator"
-
A2 The first critical step is modeling our own growth mindset, sharing our own learning processes and experiences.
-
A2: Be a learner with your students. Make mistakes and take risks. Plan opportunities for students to direct their own learning.
-
What I find interesting is he discussion on how the brain and learning happens. Ss think it magically occurs in a “black box”
-
A2: discuss relationships between ideas/concepts, relativity, reflection and willingness
-
A2: Another great project is incorporating arts, music, into my Social Studies Westward Expansion unit.
-
A2. Our classrooms have to be a place to make mistakes to learn and grow. If we teach Ss learning is one +done what are we teaching?
-
A2 Growth mindset in students is only planted in students when Ts demonstrate growth mindset themselves!Vulnerability! Transparency
-
Modeling and supporting is soo important. We're in this together!!
-
This is because everything is at their fingertips & Ss want instant results
-
A2 we can show our students it ok to fail but have to reflect on why we did and improve from there challenging ourselves
-
Totally agree, but I also realize that Ps have to be involved because a lot pressure 2 get grades negates the process
-
for sure. This honesty with Ss goes a long way to building trust. Once these relationships are cemented, it's magical.
-
-
We have to look at the tasks + purposes. If Ss don't find value or are worried about a grade-limiting
-
-
they truly respond when pushed and challenged in a constructive way.
-
excellent skill; the more the students see that the T is performing the same skill the more willingness they have
-
-
-
man, does it ever. It should be paramount in our classrooms. Students need a glimpse into the soul of their teacher.
-
YES! Constructive filled with compassion spurned by love for our Sts!
-
A2: How are Ts embedding critical thinking skill into the growth mind culture? They seem to go hand in hand.
-
-
-
-
A3 Recently visited a makerspace and used The Most Magnificent Thing and Ish as read alouds and for quick writes.
-
A3. More Growth Mindset resources for you and your school.
-
awwwww. Those two books. :)
-
-
-
-
A3:google classroom for a landing place for reflection & continuous google docs; interested in thanks
-
A3: Used animation 2spark discussion on creativty/ growth mindset with G3 Ss then they made their own https://t.co/7QUVVp5uJF
-
-
-
I am reading Mindset in the Classroom by . Great read
-
A3 My own struggles as a learner are embedded in daily lessons!
-
Love rounds- how do you see it promote a Growth Mindset?
-
oh man, yes! I wish more teachers saw the value in using picture books. They're the best.
-
-
A3 A Mindset for Learning by and is a must for Ts interested in exploring growth mindset.
-
A4: Very big challenge, Rob. Start small. Create culture that allows for teacher's taking risks. Empower stakeholders.
-
Instructional rounds have allowed all parties safely see how T respond to specific aspect of teaching process
-
We use picture books in sessions with Ts as often as possible too!
-
A4: Persistence & leading by example; provide opportunities for the conversation & training
-
A3: Books like The Dot, Ish & Beautiful Oops help people of all ages explore their own thinking and learning. Love readalouds in art!
-
I always do when I present, too. Really shows many how deep they can be.
-
A4. IMO- Every T can promote a growth mindset in their classroom. It's up to everyone of us to know our Ss and support risk taking.
-
-
Yes! Never underestimate the power of the picture book.
-
-
-
perfect! Great way to set the stage for Ts & Ss
-

-
