A5: Is it beneficial to switch up groupings depending on the activity? Sometimes have same L1 groups, sometimes have similar domain level groups (regardless of L1), sometimes varying domain level groupings, etc. #ELLCHAT

A4 Hey! Sorry I missed this! We - and the US Department of Education - want to use strength-based approach to teaching ELLs - we see their additional languages as assets, not a problem to be fixed. So, how to make that apparent in school? #ELLCHAT

A5 - Also - is important to watch how groups work and make changes as needed. As children progress at different rates, their needs change. And sometimes it’s like setting up a blind date - people you are sure will be great together don’t work out! #ELLCHAT

With English learners who come to us reading in their native language, we aren’t teaching them HOW to read again. They already know the mechanics of learning to decode and read. We are transferring that knowledge to the target language. #ellchat #langchat #teachertips
