Hello and welcome to #eduAR I am so excited to be guest moderating tonight, talking about #creativity Introductions and fun facts please :) #future4edu#quotes4edu
Heeeeyyy #EduAR PLN! I’m one of the founders of the chat, along with my Edusistas @nortnik and @Lindsey_Bohler. We are thrilled to have @Rdene915 as our guest moderator tonight!
Good evening everyone- Chris MS Principal from a KC checking in. Interesting fact - my daughter today (snow day) has taught me more on Minecraft than I could ever imagine. #eduAR

We got a letter from UM at KC today for my daughter. She is interested in a BA in FA partnered with the Conservatory! Hoping to make a visit soon! Welcome to #EduAR
Hello from NYC 👋👋 this is Move This World. Our fun fact is that we’re a social emotional learning program that helps students & teachers manage their emotions!! #eduAR
Hello everyone. I'm Tonya from Richmond, VA. First time joining this chat! Fun fact... Just found out today that @sesamestreet as a parody of the song "Despacito" called "El patito". It's amazing. My students are going to love it!

A1 Give students different ways to show their learning, to have more authentic experiences, when more meaningful, higher engagement #eduar#future4edu#quotes4edu
A1: Creating taps into their interests and passions. It pushes students to seek solutions and ties in learning across content areas naturally... this helps them with learning and builds from strengths, not deficits. #EduAR
A1: Demonstrating learning is so much more than completing work sheets and writing essays. Giving students choice in how they want to show their learning allows for multiple skill sets to be put to use. #eduar#future4Edu#quotes4Edu
A1 When students get to create you often see evidence of their learning that you wouldn’t see with paper and pencil tasks. They work harder on tasks they choose #eduar
A1- Have to provide opportunities for creation! Students need to take ideas and concepts and turn them into their own products. Some of my favorite activities are graffiti walls, and crash presentations to foster some creativity. #eduAR
A1: Allowing students to express their creativity leads to developing passion about something. That leads to motivation, which leads to success. #EduAR
A1 When kids don't have opportunities to create, they lack inspiration to write, read, etc. Creativity opens their minds and gets them asking questions. #EduAR
A1: Centers, with a wide variety of options: play dough, collage materials and different colors of paper, paints, markers, colored pencils, etc. Encourage their imaginations and creativity!! #eduAR
A1. Creativity is the most important skill all students will need in their future. Must provide opportunities for kids to solve real problems where they find solutions (ex. Redesigning our library for more efficiency). #eduAR
A1: it’s amazing to see how they work together. Strengths and interests spark out of them. The ss who sit there quietly like sponges during instruction show their hidden talents. They learn to problem solve, talk to each other, and use their brain in more authentic ways. #eduar
A1 We can learn a lot about our students by having them create, know their interests, build relationships, find a medium that meets their interests and needs #eduar#future4edu#quotes4edu
One of my absolute favorite activities. Seeing kids take a blank paper and turn it into a conceptual design of how they see and interpret concepts...good stuff. I might like them a little too much haha. #EduAR
A1: I find kids get bored if they're not able to create. In elementary world lang this can go many directions. Drawing a monster that we can describe together. Creating a plan for a trip to another country. Making videos with #FlipGrid to share with kids around the world! #eduar
A1: Allowing students (and teachers) to be creative allows for self expression. This provides a glimpse of who our students are, what they are interested in and how they are unique. #eduar
A1: Creating where students are given a rubric that outlines the learning outcomes but they pick the way they demonstrate the learning is HUGE for student voice/choice and self-directed learning as well as using the rubric to allow reflection and self-assessment. #EduAR
A1: Creativity helps students to form a deeper connection with themselves & others! Creative play is great because students strengthen their teamwork & self efficacy skills! #eduAR
A1: Allowing students (and teachers) to be creative allows for self expression. This provides a glimpse of who our students are, what they are interested in and how they are unique. #eduar
I know this will be amazing! We are having our first Edcamp in Cabot this weekend. It will be small, but we are introducing the model of 'unconference' to this area! #EdcampCabot#EduAR#EdcampNWA
A1: It's crucial that Ss be allowed to create in the classroom since that brings in all kinds of critical thinking, problem solving, grit, & sometimes collaboration. Creating means we aren't checking the box & moving on. Love to teach a variety of tools then let Ss decide. #eduAR
A2: I don't. My aides and I rotate through the centers and encourage the creativity of the students. They get lots of options to show their imaginations and creativity!! #eduAR
A2: I try to see what tools have worked for other teachers around the world, and I pick what will work with my time limits and tech/space limitations. I like to use tools that push the kids - I don't mind giving them a challenge and seeing them rise. #eduAR
A2- Picking the right tech tool depends on the product...however....my favorite creation tool is old school butcher paper. Nothing better than a group of kids all hands on creating and collaborating on a giant poster. #EduAR
A2. We must ask ourselves “what is the learning outcome” we seek and then what tools will allow that to occur. We must use practices that kids “think and work” to solve problems. #eduAR
A1: Freedom to create releases joy in learning. Too much of school has prescribed and cookie cutter expectations. Why not let students connect with their individual passions as they are individuals? #eduAR
I like to introduce lots of options (a couple at a time). Some kids love tech, some choose low tech or no tech options. Giving kids options and exposure to a variety of ways to express themselves is fun for them and me. :) #EduAR

I love this, Mickey! Choice is so important, and allows kids to express themselves more freely. I am very partial to @Buncee since I am an ambassador for them! :) #EduAR
A2: Props to our teachers! They have been working hard to develop our STREAM (Science, Technology, Reading, Engineering, Art, and Math) Lab. #steam#makered#eduar

A2: I like to see teachers provide multiple tools with a choice. This takes more work, but understanding what students need leads to what tools could be given. This was a non-answer. #eduAR
I use it all the time. Not sure what I would do with out it. Not just posters....my gov kids created an annotation chart with Article 1 of the Constitution this week as a group of butcher paper. #EduAR
A2: Depends on what I want to accomplish. Most times I open up my cabinet of randomness and say, “have at it.” And they do. 😂😂😂 Sometimes during labs I will put our specific materials that I suspect will spark curiousity or s specific result. I don’t tell them. #eduAR
And...creativity allows students to get to know each other. That's important too. It always surprises me how kids recognize strengths in their peers. #eduAR
A2: I like tools that fit with what we're hoping to learn/achieve/create, levels up our activity, sparks imagination, and leverages the power of tech with good pedagogy. That being said, my answer is...it depends. :) #eduAR
A2: Our Lab is loaded with kits and software. The magic was released when we put into play more specific guidelines for the engagements that they were connecting with. Asking questions, "How can you connect with your interests? How can you connect back to core classes?" #eduAR
A1: Freedom to create releases joy in learning. Too much of school has prescribed and cookie cutter expectations. Why not let students connect with their individual passions as they are individuals? #eduAR
A2b: and sometimes when I put strategic objects out it backfires and they create nothing like what I imagined. Gave them yarn and hangers to make spider webs. (Found it on Pinterest.). Didn’t tell or show them end results. But what they created was far better!! 😂 #eduAR
A2: Props to our teachers! They have been working hard to develop our STREAM (Science, Technology, Reading, Engineering, Art, and Math) Lab. #steam#makered#eduar
A2: The tool isn't as critical as the learning that takes place & how Ls demonstrate it. If you focus on the learning & leave it to the learner how they want to demonstrate it can #blowyourmind If Ls aren't sure, allow collaborative brainstorming sessions among peers #EduAR
Thanks, Chris. I'm all about teaching up to kids, not down. When I teach I draw an "xbox" on the corner of the board where I'll write info that is higher level: interesting, but not essential. I tell them, "you can either catch this or let it slip by you if it's too much". #eduAR
Thanks Mickey, hard to believe that was 2 years ago already!! It is a fantastic tool to use for so many reasons and it is what I used to make the graphics tonight! #eduAR
A2: We use movement as a tool because it’s fun & engaging. When students are moving around, they become focused on what’s happening in the moment, whether it’s learning or interacting with other students. #eduAR
Yes, yes, yes!!! I 100% agree. I had a classroom Twitter account and allowed students to post questions to various "experts" to get relevant, real time responses to questions. #EduAR
A1: Freedom to create releases joy in learning. Too much of school has prescribed and cookie cutter expectations. Why not let students connect with their individual passions as they are individuals? #eduAR
A3 Being able to get data for feedback to help students in next steps, or for them to communicate with me through tools like Remind and @voxer if had questions #eduar#future4edu#quotes4edu
Yep. I spend time teaching Ss tools and then letting them choose once they have several in their tech toolbox. There are a LOT of choices now. One of my faves is @cospaces_edu that you introduced to me. LOVE it. :) #eduAR
A3: The #EduSistas here, encouraged me to use @Buncee to make my digital business card, but other than that, I'm a rookie!! #eduAR . and the technology provided to our preschoolers is practically non-existent...
That is another great tool to use, we have so many options so every students can find something, and it can just be those materials that are random or a mix of everything #eduAR
A3: Technology has vastly changed the way I teach. I remember the first time I read about comprehensible input for language teachers online. It was a game changer. But the top of my list has to be getting active on Twitter. #EduTwitter is an amazing resource. #eduar
I think that all of the multimedia tools have been game changers. I'm always fascinated by AR VR stuff too. Kids are engaged in learning in all kinds of ways! #EduAR
A3: Collaborative work spaces, PBL, genius hour, and ‘group projects are popular, but we can’t forget about our introverts. I’ve seen some incredible work completed by students who needed to create, explore, explore, and think on their own - technology provided the stage. #EduAR
A3- I did my first VR field trip today...we went to Washington DC....the kids had a blast and can't wait for our next trip. VR has really opened up the next level of tech in my classroom. #EduAR
definitely agree, I avoided Twitter so long, not sure where I would be w/o the connections I made and the learning that has taken place, probably standing in front of rows, same thing every day #eduAR
A3: Tech tools for communication have definitely impacted my growth as a leader. My PLN inspires me daily through Twitter, Voxer, Zoom, GHO, Facebook Groups, Instagram, etc. I am so thankful for the many options to connect globally! #EduAR
I absolutely love using #arvrinedu and there are so many great tools, enjoy presenting on AR/VR probably the most of all my presentations because applicable to every content and level in some way #eduAR
A3: Google Expedition trip to see the evolution of computers is an eye opener to how much and how quickly technology changes. For a technology class. #eduAR
A4: Tech has become an accelerator for me but never taken the place of quality instruction or learning; The biggest impact was when Ss used whatever they wanted & they #smashed tech to get a their intended result Ss each had skills in various applications & taught 1 another #EduAR
A3: Loved having my Eng 2 Ss create children's stories here in MO using @cospaces_edu that then were read by @msyoung114 to her kindergarten class in Seattle, WA! Then they gave us feedback! It was great for my Ss and hers! #eduAR#4OCFpln

Me too! I joined years ago, but only go active at the beginning of this school year. I kind of regret the lost years, but I also think it just wasn't my time yet. All in good time! 🙌🏼 #eduAR
So true. Isolation in education is detrimental for kids. There is no excuse to be disconnected---to many options, not to mention the teacher down the hall can sometimes be some great PD! #EduAR

Next week we are doing a Great Depression gallery walk....adding in VR this year where the kids can explore a Depression Era home...really takes it to the next level. #EduAR
There are, and the theme of the #isteten newsletter this month is assistive technology, so many ideas and resources, here is the link https://t.co/nwOEjTgp1l#eduAR
Teach tools explicitly but have extensions to the project in mind. Use those as assessments for lessons. After enough of that they will mix & match tools on their own. #eduar
A4. My reliable sources would be Voxer, Twitter and Podcasts such as Aspire, Principally Speaking, John Maxwell and Reimagine Schools. Most important is simply reflecting upon my work. #eduAR
I have a social studies teacher who uses Google Earth to show where Civil War battles occurred in White county. He reads accounts and shows where they occurred. Kids are amazed. #eduAR
A4: Having a blast right now reading Find Your Yellow Tux from @YellowTuxJesse with @mlarson_nj and #twomenandabook. Amazing thoughts about living life with an unbridled creative spirit, and seeking to cultivate it further. #eduAR
I was alive w/ Twitter & implementing tech w/ Ts & Ss as an Inst Tech coach 5 yrs ago. I was the creator of & lead Twitter chat for our dist. I wanted to move up in my career, as I moved up I took less time to be globally connected. I became isolated. I am glad to be back! #EduAR
A4: @wakelet is my new fave! We use it in class for blogs, eportfolios, and all kinds of assignments. This week was spirit week, so Ss wrote Tacky Tourist Tuesday journals over one day of vacay: had to cover breakfast up to bedtime, photos, & google map of location & text! #eduAR
A4- @Rdene915 is always posting all sorts of fun things to check out! I recommend starting there! I am always looking for fun and creative ways to incorporate literacy into my classroom since it is something I regularly blog about. #EduAR
A3: Well we help schools make #SEL apart of their school day through our short videos. Students connect with Megan & Elliott & learn healthy ways to express themselves & manage their emotions!! #eduAR
Yep! I created a @wakelet collection. There are 2 ready right now and a few more that will be ready in a few more days. Here's the link:https://t.co/y5RsFW8nRe
They're #arvrinedu / 3D stories. One is nonfiction. :) #eduAR

A4: I read prof books, listen to podcasts, audiobooks, Twitter PLN and am part of a BaseCamp Work Group w/ @vllaonline I also have a professional and personal blog. Here is my latest professional blog post: https://t.co/ltqQMDCsck#EduAR
Thanks for mentioning these great resources as well! There's so much out there, we could quite literally use a different tech resource each class. #eduAR

Love this conversation tonight and the mix of no tech, low tech and super tech ideas to promote and foster creativity and engagement in learning #eduAR#future4edu#quotes4edu
Everyone can be creative! You have to practice using those powers. I love to start with something that inspires me and then let the ideas incubate. Even more powerful sometimes to collaborate :) #EduAR
A5: Creativity is the fire that burns inside of each of us. It is up to us to tend that fire by properly stoking and feeding it through experiences and encounters. The least we can do for our Ss is provide appropriate fuel. #eduAR
A5 I never thought I was creative, I thought I had to be, but feel like it has developed, depending on the tools I have, inspiration in what I am doing #eduar
A5: Creativity happens in environments that provide safety for taking risks, choice, voice, autonomy, and passion pursuit. Everyone can be creative! It definitely helps to have the environment that supports it. #EduAR
Agreed! I've seen @gimkit before, just haven't accessed it myself yet. I also forgot to mention @plickers which is awesome for classrooms that don't have a one-to-one ratio of devices. #eduAR

Checking in late! #lifehappens A4 Yes, Yes, Yes! We are born with it, but it can be fostered or smothered, and sometimes all the right things come together for it to just happen! #eduAR
A5. Creativity is a skill that can be enhanced thru opportunities that make us think, solve problems and think about issues different ways. Creativity occurs when we fail and learn from those challenges. #eduAR
A5: Oh my! Creativity is WORK! An injection would be nice, but since that isn't how it goes, but Ss have to be encouraged to create, allowed to fail, & encouraged to get back at it. Model it, let them see that trying is everything! #EDUAR
A6: I believe you need to foster an environment of inquiry. There are teachers within a school more creative than others, but everyone can grow. Is it safe to grow? Is it honored in the environment? Do you feel empowered? Are students learning b/c of it? #EduAR
A5: Creating an environment of curiosity and risk taking fosters creativity. It is so important to stess that creativity looks different in different situations and with differnet people. That is the cool part! #EduAR
I never thought I was creative, but with the right tools, environment, it comes out, after hearing @TheTechRabbi speak, Creativity is not something you get, it's something you reveal #EducatedByDesign#eduAR
A5: People are all creative in different ways. I used to have kids write a creation myth after we talked about Latin American creation stories. Some kids struggled with that side of creativity, but they loved drawing their illustration. Creativity is not just artistic!
#eduar
A5: Creativity is not something someone has or doesn't have, it is an idea that is put into action by hardwork and being brave enough to risk to put it out there; Obvious to You... Amazing to Others https://t.co/TRjvTNMe0Q#EduAR
A3: Tools such as Remind, Google Forms, and GoGuardian have made a big difference in the classroom. Twitter, Instagram, and Pinterest have been serious game changers in terms of access to amazing educators and resources. #EduAR#future4edu

A4: Please feel free to check out our blog 🙂 we discuss a variety of subjects such as #SEL, equity in education, and creative expression & movement! https://t.co/vdfdPQwbtM#eduAR
We are thrilled to collaborate with @ArkansasEd and @2018ATOY in #EduAR next week to discuss the #loveteaching movement! It will be EPIC! All of our PLN is invited, so friends from outside of Arkansas, join in the conversation on 2/14 at 8:30 cst!
A5: We all have the ability to be creative! But if we don’t feel safe then we aren’t able to form this connection with ourselves. Students need supportive learning environments so they can express themselves! #eduAR
