A1- By being genuinely excited and curious- we regularly stop to question, wonder, celebrate. If I can't get pumped about what we're learning I can't expect them to. #teachpos
A1: enthusiasm is important, I work to keep my stress down and show the connection between what we are learning, how to read, with everything you do in life. I also love what I do, so that shows and helps keep enthusiasm up. #teachpos
A1: By letting students see my passion and love for what is being taught. By being excited by their successes and celebrating them. By being positive and smiling and using humor and inspiring fun. #teachpos
A1: I just remain FIRED UP about the incredible opportunity I have to serve each day. I let Ss know this directly by telling them I'm grateful to be there and have them, and indirectly through my positivity and personal passion each day. #teachpos
#teachpos - A1 - Kids can tell if you care about what you are teaching and if you are trying to make it engaging. Enthusiasm for learning should be apparent in your practice. Every day doesn't need to be smiles and flowers, but you need to show excitement!
I tend to reserve enthusiasm for student contribution and engagement. When Ss engage, especially with a question or idea, I get excited. When students accomplish and grow, I get excited. But not just from walking in the door or being there. #teachpos
A1: I show enthusiasm by getting as excited for learning as I can. I dance around the class, I sing, I become a cheerleader for not just the kids but what we are learning! If the kids see me excited about what’s to come they’re enthusiasm for it grows like wildfire #teachpos
A1: Enthusiasm comes with positivity. I build enthusiasm with my Ts and Ss by connecting with them and letting them see the fun side of learning and school. #teachpos
A1 Stacey from Illinois.
I show my kids I’m enthused to see them with conversation and questioning and I’m enthused about what we are learning by creating engaging lessons. #teachpos
A1: Joining late - I'm Barbara, from Oakland, CA. My "E" is empathy. How you show enthusiasm is to actively listen to what is happening in class. Showing that you care. #Teachpos
A1: I am energetic and smiling in class. I always tell the Ss how excited I am that they are there each time I get to work with them. Last year's 8th grade Ss voted me "most enthusiastic" - Hoping to hold onto the crown this year, lol #teachpos
A1: I also show this enthusiasm towards EACH student. I do this by deliberately creating moments of genuine connection with them. I track this so I don't miss any Ss. #teachpos (shout out to @davestuartjr for this idea)
A1: Enthusiasm means demonstrating that you are truly excited about what is happening around them. Enthusiasm also means celebrating each moment with others or even by yourself. I'm enthusiastic about #TeachPos
#teachpos - A2 - You should empower students by teaching them how to empower themselves. Depending on the age you teach, this may have to be explicit and age appropriate, but it should be at the core of your teaching if it is truly student-centered.
#teachPOS
A1 pt 2.
Enthusiasm for learning.
Enthusiasm for making mistakes and growing.
Enthusiasm for applying learning towards community action.
Enthusiasm for balancing serious thinking, innovation, fun.
Model enthusiasm. Make it contagious.
A2- Our focus on growth is the most empowering element in our class. When Ss realize that every time they try something new or go about something in a different way, that they are growing their brains- their perception shifts and taking risks becomes the norm #teachpos
A2: Provide the students with the encouragement and motivation to demonstrate their strengths in their own method. Teach them how to make mistakes and learn from them. #teachpos
A2: Allow them to not only share their voice, but take it to the next level and act on it! Ss shared that other Ss are bullied when Ts aren't around, so we asked what to do about it. They created SafeHaven which allows Ss to anonymously report bullying. #teachpos
A2: empowering Ss occurs when I let them drive conversation, have input into their learning, be a guide and let them take the reigns. Our number talks in math rock, as I sit back and listen. Working towards this consistently. #teachpos
A2: I empower Ss by pointing out their successes and helping them to learn from their failures. I refuse to give up on any child, even the most challenging and will pull out all the stops to empower them to be the best they can be. A simple “I believe in you” goes far #teachpos
A2: Empowering students means encouraging them to take responsibility for their own actions. It's about encouraging their #voice and helping them become the best they can be -- reaching their fullest potential. #TeachPos
Empowering students is letting them take part and ownership of their https://t.co/8CFuKKpZGs kinder it’s showing them they have a voice and growth mindset. #teachpos
A2: This is my focus with my Ts beginning this month. New trimester, new time to experiment with giving ownership of learning to Ss. We need to provide opportunities for Ss choice and facilitate as Ts. Ss led conversations are key. #teachpos
A2: I empower Ss by pointing out their successes and helping them to learn from their failures. I refuse to give up on any child, even the most challenging and will pull out all the stops to empower them to be the best they can be. A simple “I believe in you” goes far #teachpos
A2: Honor and acknowledge Ss voice. Let them see that it is powerful. Carve out the time and space for Ss to actually read, write, discuss and THINK. This is empowering. #teachpos
A2: Empower - Create a space where students feel comfortable to take risk and work outside their box. I also openly make mistakes for my Ss to see that Ts make mistakes and it is ok! #teachpos
A2: I empower by having them help teach. When a peer gives an anwer that is along the right track I ask others to help out by expanding on what the peer has said. Everyone wins and I have a true understanding of what everyone knows. #teachpos
A2~
~teach them how to advocate for themselves, for others , our 🌎
~ provide ongoing opportunities for them to lead , struggle, how to get back up & soar
~Empwer them by showing/modeling the ups & downs in life
~ empower them by learning to not blame others
#teachpos
A1. Each day I visit classrooms it’s great to see teachers showing excitement. You can hear it in their voice when they read a story, discuss a scientific fact, asking a question in math.....etc. As the teacher, you are the “Greatest Showman”! Captivate the audience! #teachpos
A2: I am an advocate for "strengths-based." I also believe giving students choice empowers them to own their learning & to advocate for themselves. Finally, ensuring they are acquiring the skills they need for life will enable them to stay empowered after graduation. #teachpos
Empower students by connecting results to actions. Ask them to reflect on the results they've earned and the connection to the efforts and behaviors they've demonstrated. Turn it into a plan going forward. This serious kind of reflection is more important than content. #teachpos
A2: Being "empowered" is powerful. It means a student knows who they are and how they learn best. It means they can set their own goals, keep track and monitor their progress in meeting those goals. #Teachpos
A2. Students can be empowered when they are given a voice. Students need to be able to make choices as well. Multiple ways or choices to demonstrate growth is one way to empower them. #teachpos
A3: empathy is so important. Students need to learn how to empathize. We can all learn from people that are different than us, people that have different learning strategies than us, different cultures, etc etc etc. We all need to show all students that we all matter #teachpos
#teachpos - A3 - Students need to know that they are spending time with someone who cares about them. If you can't remember what it was like to be a kid, and can't be sympathetic to their missteps and fumbles along the way, then you're in the wrong place.
A3 We are human, we make mistakes and could/should learn from them. Being empathetic shows our Ss, through actions and words, that we believe they are worth ALL of our time and effort. #teachpos
A2: I used Social Stations to empower; Ss were able to choose which social skill they wanted to work on and how they wanted to practice what they were learning. It takes a bit of front loading to pull off this coaching model, but the benefits WAY outweigh the costs. #teachpos
A3: empathy - it is how we truely understand feelings. Working with my Ss to help them see that we are all different and that is WONDERFUL. We have to be able to see the positives in others through their differences. #teachpos
When showing empathy you are building relationships with your students and learning who they are. When you build the relationship first they know you care and then you can handle the academics helping them grow. #teachpos
A3: Empathy is important because it gives our Ss a chance to better understand the world around them, esp their classmates. We are helping create the future leaders and for them to be able to be in another’s shoes, it prevents a lot of negative behavior and bullying #teachpos
A3~
Helps all of us to communicate w/each other better ... comes from a place of ❤️ & understanding & seems to soften some of life’s hardest moments
~ breeds understanding, forgiveness, mercy ❤️ #teachpos
#teachPOS
A3: Empower =
Existing curriculum is important but building empathy before and authentic application for community action as an output creates students that feel empowered and motivated, possessing a sense of deep identity and purpose. Inspire and empower.
#teachpos A1. Enthusiasm is the key to engagement ...I show my keenness and enthusiasm by being constant learner... When I am willing to learn ...my children too feel the gentle push .
A3: Empathy helps build a positive classroom culture where students can learn to understand the world around them. It also helps our students prepare to be leaders in their community.

#teachpos - Great chat tonight! Thank you so much, and don't forget to join us for #edChatRI right after this. It's a Math Takeover with @rimtamath and @ATMNEmath!
A3: Students are more likely to learn from someone they know cares about them. Oh, they might be compliant with a non-empathetic teacher, but compliance is not learning. Empathy, however, gives a student value, purpose, and hope - and that's when true learning happens. #teachpos
Bonus Q- I enjoy spending my days with little humans who have incredible curiosity, joyful hearts and amazing energy. They make me smile and laugh every day. #teachpos
Bonus - I love my students. As a SPED T I get the privilege of working with my Ss yr after yr for 3 to 6 yrs. I see first hand how much they grow and the wonderful young adults they are becoming! #teachpos
A3: If we empower our students to use the UN #SDGs to investigate and try to solve real-world global problems locally, the focus starts with empathy. I use the #designthinking process that starts with #empathy#Teachpos
Bonus: I love my job! Working with so many ss with so many different strengths and weaknesses and seeing progress is so encouraging. I really love"being the one" for each and every student that allows me to be!! #teachpos
My favorite thing about kindergarten is seeing the joy and excitement on my kiddos faces when they learn something new and all of the genuine sweet hugs I get all day long! #teachpos
