Hello!!! Heidi here in PA/NJ
Of course I forgot the Checking in on mobile so no Tweetchat! :)
What's the lantern float?! Sounds intriguing!!
we're talking about our outdoor wins right now! Join us.
wooden platforms with candles. Paper lanterns that we float down in Washington DC
My big one was a year long study of trees! We took a walk everyday on the trail
Outdoor win: Touch and go, but we have frogs.
Hello no longer in classroom. What were your outdoor wins? My favorite in years gone. Faige in L.A. https://t.co/8G6fyaZKIp
Please join Tuesday at 7pm Central for - ALL GRADES WELCOME! Topic: "Math Stations."
A year-long tree study Outdoor win! Did you study certain trees? https://t.co/Z03YDOeW5J
My big one was a year long study of trees! We took a walk everyday on the trail
omg that sounds amazing!! Does someone retrieve or they just float away?
there are strings attached. A rare one gets away and the pond water is...interesting
We were named Sycamore and Sassafras classes and so focused on those but tried to learn as many as we could
A ton- all through the 4 seasons- I am still putting together!
Can't wait! do you have any of the lanterns
That sounds really beautiful! What's the ceremony for or did I miss?! :) Sorry on mobile tonight so might miss!
Marks the end of the year. Oh let me look for a good water photo it is lovely
How did you make them?! Gorgeous!
wooden base with 4 chopsticks glued in with a candle in center.
We researched trees, plants, birds, etc then took parents on a "Talking Trail" to teach them
Wow! That's impressive! Beautiful idea!! Live it! Your school is so neat! :)
I love how the kinders become the expert in their "field"
share an outdoor win for this year?
They are so confident about it! I love that their world view is this reality- amazing!!!

Outdoor wins: little things. Cake slicers as digging tools in the forest.
And that's the magic of Twitter and chats! https://t.co/DTRSwIo5PM

Yes! And very excited (and jealous a bit!) :) Lesley is meeting this summer in Europe!
Q2: Anything you would change/do differently?
I love it!! :) Wonderful!!
not familiar, but now following. Adding to my PLN. Thx
Yes! It's hard to bridge time zone gap between Europe time and NAmerica peeps
Oops checked and I am! Hurray
A2: I wish the poison ivy would stay out of the woods. Too much to ask?
Q2 So do differently would be the photos and postings- I didn't keep up w!!! AT ALL (confess: it kinda felt great to not!) :)
they will wake up to a bunch of notifications. Good morning
Haaa! :) Always fun!! You can hear them like what? What?! :)
I find that sometimes by not doing something you find a better way. Shake it up.
Yes!! Agree!! :) isn't that funny how it works and flows?!
A2 If I focus 2much on pics I forget to live in the moment of wonder w/the kids. So a trade off
Truthiness though. Sometimes I find things I wish I still did too.
I wonder about that too. Is there such a thing as too many collection moments?
I know what you mean!! If we could take all the best things and put them together- so impossible!!
Good question. Finding that balance or letting go, a task we face throughout life
A2: Along with the truthiness. I think I might have too much stuff. Thinking of classroom breakdown :(
That's it exactly! Impossible to do both!
A2 Also I just realized I've been putting Q2 instead of A2 ie Haaa OMG Its been a long day
A2 I wonder thru classrooms & the difference can be startling. Think Ts start as hoarders, then need to find the path 2declutter
Q3: Speaking of moments. Do you have a favorite a-ha moment?
oh man this time of year is rough!! :) How many days left for you?! So many in US are done already-

They hoard the oddest things- lint, scraps of paper, twine. Like birds making nests?!? :)
totally. I might have a problem!
A3 Children take time to settle deeply into their forest play/outdoor learning space. Have patience, magic will happen naturally
Just here for the ending, ! EC meeting Monday and u got to chair this time! Liane from Abby, BC
No worries Angela! Welcome :)
speaking of hoard...favorite thing this year. Cut up a sweater & scarf and sewed them onto rocks. Love.
I find my students have these little collections in their cubbies!
Me TOO!! I just want to gut this year so I'm trying to get kids to use stuff up!
Hah! Exactly that...stones, sticks, beads in the children's mailboxes.
A3 when I realized they were learning authors, math, vocab, etc but couldn't name the tree outside the window
I call them squirrels! a constant phenom!!
When THIS happens, teachers KNOW what to do! https://t.co/yXaR0CSsZI
A3 when I realized they were learning authors, math, vocab, etc but couldn't name the tree outside the window
Thanks for the convo & Think my tiredness is winning. Going to eat & vegge out. Have a good week.
A goal go next year:I want to learn about our local plant life & what our native plants are.
and I'd LOVE to tie in our aboriginal learning into our outdoor plant identification
Yes! And has really fundamentally changed our perspective-their attention to things is functionally different
Such rich ground to grow! Learning from and about trees!
Do you do "off site" trips to learn about local plant'/animal life?
Yes! Am working on that for next year w our 3rd grade
I cannot type properly today. Have made errors in every tweet today.
does aboriginal plant teacher walks - just did it, amazing!
am thinking about that for next year. Worried it'll be too much. could be June talking though
We took one-we are blessed w lots of nature around us-though same idea could work in many places
Wonder if they'd help in Abbotsford.....
We just took a walk every day and observed used trees as launching point
this year, I moved dramatic play out to the forest. Still learned about plants, wildlife, though
Cool! Would love to know more.
Great resource to have access to! Wow!
Fave moments. Finding a freshly shed deer antler on the snow.
What are ur ideas around this? I'm currently doing this & I'd love ur ideas
I'm thinking of a medicinal and food showcase :) Still in planning stages!
Hmmm maybe we should try project focus groups next year?!?
That sounds like a great idea!!!!!
ooh. I like that. Might help me to get focus. I'm like that dog from "Up"...SQUIRREL!
We could plan projects and if we could work connections, great!
My teacher librarian did an aboriginal tea lesson w/ my class.
I like it too!! :) Looking to switch things up a bit for next year- this could work?! :)
Love the medicinal plant idea! Any resources (books/websites) you know of??
Brilliant ideas flying around here! Green Team is a go-go!
I think this is where the project focus groups come in!! Gather and share
Wow! I can't believe I haven't found you all before ... where have I been?
Ok friends- exciting development comes late into the chat! Am jazzed about it!
SO glad I stopped in after my meeting!!
