A1. I can't remember the name of them, but they were these cool little worksheets, like a wordsearch, but not, I took from the speedgeek.
My mind just fell out into a tweet I think
#CASChat
A1: The ideas from colleagues about improving my percentage of girls on the course and at extra-curricular activities. I've already signed up for iDEA since coming home
#caschat
#caschat A1: this year was all about networks. Howevr i think that's a good thing. it's made me think about how we re-develop the hardware/networking pillar scheme so it starts with networks and it's progressions
#caschat Managed to make another one! yay! :D
Hi I'm Sarah,
I research different areas of computer science education to come up with new and interesting approaches :D
#CASchat Evening all - A1. I didn’t go #CASCon2018 (report writing time) but the CAD workshop sketch-up / scratch activity looks pretty awesome. https://t.co/XkLael5oxa
#caschat always wondering if there is a job that i can do where i do all the curriculum and resource planning, without all the other head of department stuff.
It's AMAZING! As long as you have a microphone & internet connection it will pick up on what you're saying and will generate subtitles on your powerpoint slides for you. In real time.
Accessibility heaven.
The slides are here: https://t.co/6T5axSUaQz#caschat
A1. I took away a lot of research to help expand upon my own ideas. I also got a better understanding off how "trees" are created and alpha beta pruning techniques! #caschat
#caschat#sparksalon -we need resolve in schools, in business, at strategy and operational level to play the long game for inclusion in tech. All to work towards creating an effective inclusive pipeline - attack this at all levels. Schools - stay confident - don’t give up.
#caschat I think networking was definitely a factor, think it is a thing now were we look beyond programming and now how we deliver the rest of the computing currciulum
I’m at an event @TCS_UKI on inclusion in tech - it’s fab! Comparing 35% women in it in India to 17% in uk.. #sparksalon#caschat - really positive views
A2: The keynote by the 2nd CISCO guy was superb & The Unity session got me right back to university mode... ooh and the session extra curricular
#caschat
Long story, was supposed to be 2 weeks, ended up being a bit less. Flights were subsided, Ripple have links with loads of schools so there’s lots of projects to plug into. #caschat

#caschat A2: As most times at CAS, it's not the workshops, its the conversations. I loved the workshop on 10 things about cyber security. Although i knew most of it, gave me some great thinking points.
A2 the session from @cas_london_crc for me was the biggest take away. Getting to focus on Primary pedagogy for 50 whole minutes, and Jane makes it all seem sostraightforward! #caschat
It really made a difference, and I was able to use it on my laptop to understand the speakers too as the hearing loop at the university failed
(bit of irony as I was presenting on tech for accessibility)

#caschat really liked the unity workshop, great resources. I'm hoping that we can get some serious hardware in the school to run it. looking at ways i can get some investment.
A3 Auditing the physical computing computing resources that we have, as @duck_star said, use what you’ve got in the cupboard! Most of it is more versatile than you think #caschat

If you're having issues getting it to run on a network, we've loaded it and our students are running the files from their USB drives. It on;y slows it down a bit.

A3: I've joined us up for @idea_award and although my top guys were already prepping for @bebrasuk we've decided to get the whole cohort to try.
I'm also going to write some resources for functional programming. Because who needs sleep!

But why unplugged networks? At KS3/KS4 lots of simple demonstrations e.g. ping, remote login that teachers or students can try. Cheap switch and @Raspberry_Pi or laptops. Use simple static IP addresses. You can also demonstrate clashes by giving them the same address #CASchat
between running CPD, driving across half the country, making resources, tutoring, and teaching actual students in a classroom my eyebags have become suitcases!
Totally worth it, but I may go off grid for a few days at the end of term

Old bit of wood to make it easy to hold up or transport from class to class. Plan to bolt next to classroom board. Colour coded short patch cables in order. Can recycle old @Raspberry_Pi units as command line is very fast. #CASchat

A4 I am old and been to many courses, but I can say without doubt that the CAS conferences have been the best CPD I have received (other than MT training obvs!) and with lovely people #caschat
