Hello everyone! My name is Kaitlyn Ham and I currently working as a paraprofessional in a 6th grade classroom. This is my first time participating in a live twitter chat! I am nervous and excited #21stedchat#GSC612702
Meme language sounds like a very interactive way for students to communicate/learn. Would you say that this book is worth the purchase? I am currently in an Ed. class about integrating technology in the classroom and we are always looking for exciting new methods #21stedchat

Hey Kaitlyn- I have a question about your current job as a parapro- what types of technology/methods do you find works best in your classroom? I'm studying to be a special ed. teacher myself. #21stedchat
In my own experience giving students choice in their learning means gaining them confidence, creativity, and an increase in curiosity and exploration for discovering in/out of the classroom. #21stedchat
Hello! In my classroom we use our smart boards every day. We use them as visual aids and to find resources to support learning. For example, I will display the steps they need to take and then model them on the board for them to see #21stedchat#GSC612702
Hi Crystal, have you found that online science labs are as effective as phsycal/ in person demonstrations? What are the biggest limitations for you in each form (online/physical)? #21stedchat
I actually think students enjoy the hands-on physical labs better. The biggest limitations with those, however, is cost. Online- they honestly get tired of being on the computers! #21stedchat
Students are empowered to learn through self motivation. This will encourage them to engage with material and build confidence in their abilities. They will dig deeper and with more curiosity when given trust. #21stedchat
That sounds really effective way to demonstrate examples for your class. Is there any type of technology you wish you had that would help your students? #21stedchat
In my music room, I often use centers where students are doing hands on activities. However, one of my centers is an iPad center where students can choose which music app to do. #21stedchat
Hi Alison, do you find that to be an effective way for them to engage with music and explore their interests? If so, do you think it is one of the better ways to utilize their time in groups? #21stedchat
I will keep this in mind for the Fall! I will be taking a class: teaching Science. I am taking a course called Using Technology to Teach Social Studies I tried the website Padlet. You can create discussion boards for students. Collaboration was wonderful! #21stedchat#GSC612702
@nickwheelock14 absolutely! When you are working with 3rd and 4th graders, you have to give them some structure when they are in groups. They love it! You also want to give them the assignment, but leave room for them to explore their own creativity. #21stedchat
The class I am taking is encouraging us to create a PLN. I think this is great! There is so much we can learn from each other and ideas we can share #21stedchat
This is the same in my classrooms. One thing that we do use is Google Classroom. This helps our students stay organized on the assignments due and ones coming up. This is also helpful for parents to see what their students are doing. #21stedchat#GSC612702
I think yes and no. For some of my students, it is great that we have a way to stay in touch with parents. Make sure everyone is on the same page. I do think some parents can abuse this. What have your experiences been? #21stedchat#GSC612702
