Q1 Where do I experience wonder in my own life and faith journey?
A1: When I slow down and look, I can experience wonder. When I rush, I miss it!
- The classroom- student insight on faith topics can be incredible. Going to borrow Ignatius here- but everywhere!
A1: in my students! And teachers
A1 Wonder noun – I am in awe of the beauty of creation when looking at the stars on a cold, clear, quiet night.
A1. In nature, the beauty outside, family, especially my kids as they grow and learn.
A1 I agree - when I slow down Love to see it in nature, students, other teachers
A1Wonder verb-always wonder how something works or why did something happen. I was inspired by my teachers to ask questions.
a1: Tends to be outdoor, solitary experiences for me. Could be about nature, or could be about people, events
A1 Where do I experience under in my life? Anymore, it's not where but when.. When I take a moment's pause to look around.
A1 I experience wonder through my children, coworkers, reflection, song, etc. It's a matter of taking the time to see it
Good morning, , from Chicago.
a1: Almost seems like the dome of the sky is conducive to (some) experiences of wonder.
A1: in quiet- usually a by-product of taking time to reflect
A1: I experience wonder in moments of silence, when I give myself a chance to be still.
A1.When I learn something new, reading, when I slow down.
And when I run, I feel God's pleasure- Erick Liddell- so many sights to see running- time to say a rosary even.
It is sometimes hard to let ourselves be still.
morning, Jan! Great to see you today. ;-)
A1 By just stopping to take time in the moment. Music helps. I am beginning to feel wonder when I sing as I improve
A1 def important to take time to observe, listen, be!
agreed, Rachel. Add some of the other mentions, too: from other ppl, nature.
Always when I am outside, especially walking to school on a dark snowy morning,
is now trending in USA, ranking 34
I totally agree. It rarely happens during a busy a day of teaching!
I need to stop and wonder more often. Especially now when I have a mess in my house and at school!
It might be a little too early for me to be in .. "under" for "wonder"???
might have to walk away from the mess. that stresses me and I wonder less when that happens

A2 When should allow kids to wonder instead of just prescribing learning - wonder can lead them to areas of passion
A2. Wonder is everything. We want students to have wonder and awe as they travel on this journey of learning.
A2 What better hook than what makes our Ss stop and wonder/ponder/think?
A2 Wonder/curiosity inspires students to learn more because the students want to know more.
A2 an environment where children feel welcomed and loved leads to moments of wonder.
A2 Wonder also leads students to enjoy learning - we want them to be self directed lifelong learners
A2. Wonder leads to passion, leads to life lessons, challenges students in ways ts can't. it shows we are made for more.
A2: wonder is the motivation. If teachers are guides on the journey of learning, student wonder is everywhere!
A2: Wonder allows students to ask questions and be self-starting learners.
Right on, edu should lead to greater heights, which will fit in nicely w Q4.
A2.1 We need to provide them the things necessary to succeed.
a2:If you can build off experience of wonder, you get real engagement. Big Q - how to invite Ss to wonder.
A2 “the purpose of educ8n is to replace an empty mind with an open one.” Malcolm Forbes. Wonder is curiosity. Must be open
A2 Wonder is critical in inspiring a lifelong love of learning, this can get forgotten in the hustle & bustle of academics.
I almost always start my school day with a question from
A2 If your students don't wonder when you're teaching, there's something wrong. It's my job to make them wonder not memorize
thanks! Can you pick mine out?
Cool - very basic but very expressive - what media?
A2: Wonder is what gives students a purpose for learning!
cool! I should look into this!
A2 Depends. What's the learning space culture like? How much teacher is in the teaching? Wonder should come from learner..
Still participating in even though I am now working in a public school!
watercolor for the ornaments, craypas for the branches.
That's really cool - thanks for sharing.
The one with the snowflakes?
Barb you've got to! It's a whole page of things people wonder!
A great site- also great for a brain break or when a lesson isn't working
thank you! Great to see you! You have lots to offer all.
"Among wisdom’s treasures is the model for knowledge" (Sirach 1:25)
me too, thanks for the reminder, it's so easy to get caught up in stuff
Good Morning Sorry to arrive so late, but it was a long week and it's so warm and cozy in bed. :)
, the lower left, brightest green one!
no, bottom, far right! I wanted the dark color, but couldn't make it happen!
A2 Is the learning/wonder experience for Ss different now compared to then? Wonder lets us ask. https://t.co/hl1SjboRSR
Q3: I was just wondering if there was room for wonder in a Twitter chat!
A3 We need to make sure there is wonder in this era of standards and testing. So important!
A3 I think the beauty of CCSS is that the underlying drive is to examine and ponder. Stand. Tests? Not so much...
A3: In theory, wondering should lead to knowledge and the test scores should reflect that!
A3 Yes Specialist (Library/Tech and Art/Music) can assist busy teacher with integrating wonder/curiosity into curriculum.
Especially in Catholic Schools, yes.Socratic Method style questioning designed for that while hitting standards-
A3.Yes. Can still get there, through “wonder”filled lessons and learning.
A3 I find fantastic for wonder-- gives great questions, so many paths to explore
A3 I think it's so important to MAKE room for wonder! Let students find their passions that way!
Today's questions for please join us at 8am central time! Our topic is 'Wonder' with BroCstart bt https://t.co/DAyWjNgxZ4
I think our job as teachers is to consciously make room for the wonder (something I need to be more aware of)
Agreed- and the fact that they should be hands-on helps to draw Ss in to the wonder
morning! thanks for joining in!
has awesome resources. is a great resource
A3 I sure hope so. Without wonder, what's left? Life and becomes hardscrabble without wonder. https://t.co/4tCJ3jb14U
My answer is no! Hate standardized tests. You have to make room for wonder and allow that to be the focus
a3: Can you schedule time for wonder? Does it show up on time?
I find I have to do the same thing- I get so caught up in the laundry list of what needs to get done
no, but always be ready to ditch the plan!
A3: There needs to be room. I think Catholic schools provide an environment that naturally promote wonder through our faith.
doesn't it show up when you least expect it? busier you are, the stronger the moment can be?
A3 Yes there is room. Admins & T's need to be thoughtful & purposeful to include the time for it.
A3: We believe in miracles, we can make time for wonder!
True, but the tests are often geared toward memorizing facts-no wonder in that.
Hello all...sorry for the lateness. Getting ready to travel to see all my children.
You crack me up as you always see the positive in everything!
a3: So maybe we can't schedule "wonder time" but we have to be on the lookout to identify it when it comes?
The tests can really put a damper on things. Can it be coopted, somehow, to serve wonder?
and be open for the discussions that promote wonder to take over a lesson plan.
welcome! is doing a great job today!
A1 I experience wonder looking at my children...can't believe they are mine!
I sometimes wonder why I bother with lesson plans! My class always goes in a different direction
When I took standardized tests) which I generally dislike- I found myself moved by learning in class followed.
- those tests' purpose is to generate data. Hard to see anything else there that can be co-opted.
Not sure- but seriously ask S where answers in a MC question come from? Get them 2think beyond right answer?
can tests serve as a discussion starter (after the fact) to get Ss to ask why they were asked such questions?
A2 As a science Ts, I hoped to show wonder in creation
Amen! In the morning, study Genesis, in the p.m., study evolution of life! world is amazing.
New/aspiring T's - read that last Tweet at your own risk!!! ;)
LOL, now here comes the spam- now that we made the trending list.
Have to go. What a great chat. Looking back over everything later. have a great week.
As long as discussion went well, I generally pray and see if the Holy Spirit guided it.
A3 K-12 my wonder = grownup-ness might be like? Grounding learning in what-is/will be ~ wonder. https://t.co/3hQlCSrES5
some problems are good to have!
A4 Set an hour or two aside to allow students to pursue interests. Makerspace in the classroom https://t.co/6MV9Pt9E9G
a4: Come Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful . . .
A4: Don't give students a recipe for a project. Let them guide how the knowledge is gathered and presented!
You can still learn things to bring to your school :)
Choices are always good when assessing students! I see how this could promote wonder and creativity
Or consider an Unmaker Space where they explore by taking things apart!
A3 Yes...especially if you do project-based learning.
Catholic schools in most states don't have to be state accred. at the K-8th level, and rid themselves of test.
A4. Recognizing that all learning is done for ourselves to benefit others, somewhere, somehow. in life lessons, in content.
"I Wonder?" Questions are a key part of the Primary RE Curriculum for Sydney Catholic Schools. https://t.co/bOZS99qyzR
I have a class that allows for that. Film and media is all about creativity. I'm lucky
A4, when Our ArchD requires us to be accred, so no way around it for us.
me too, and grandchildren, even more wonder!
And I think we're all lucky to be in Catholic schools. And life rarely goes according to plan.
is the classroom for Ss wonder & learning, or the Ts sense of security & control?
Might need more trash cans.
Why pay for a Catholic school? Families are questioning this factor in my area. Many are leaving.
This is such a good idea, I can see it lead2 wonder w something that doesn't always inspire wonder

With the new ESSA, Catholic schools need to be careful. When gov. controls the standards.
have some colleagues that will Student Teach next semester- including during Terra Novas. will share this w/ them. Thx!
Education > schools, but sometimes we lose sight of that.
A4 PBL, time for reflection, makerspaces, practice mindfulness
Haha! I give Ss guidelines and it goes down the drain! Within the realm of Christian decency is the only rule
A4 as reflective questions...such as "I wonder...." It can be a peer review stem
Gotta run Finishing my dishes for the family reunion. Have a great week. Thank you for moderating!
Yes I know! Been RE Adviser to 17 Catholic High Schools this year.Well organised down under!

Passion. Immersion. Rapport- all ways to get students to work harder, wonder more in class. https://t.co/X9NGzXNMPQ
discussion has begun to possibly not be...thank goodness!
changed how I practice my instructional design craft
yes, I know that I am often a control freak, and it impedes the wonder, working on letting go
Assessment of, for and as learning is meant to be programmed in all Board developed & accredited courses in NSW
Because its quality education and faith-based (hopefully).
Today I need to make my house liveable then find Christmas wonder!

Thank you. Have a wonderful week everyone.
Thanks everyone for coming and making time to recharge with wonder! Looking for a moderator and topic for next week.
The issue is w/ the new ESSA, there is hint that there will be less and less faith in such schools.
