The #INeLearn hashtag is used for both asynchronous sharing and synchronous conversations. Include #INeLearn in your tweets if you want to share resources or questions with Indiana educators and school leaders. Asynchronously, the #INeLearn hashtag provides educators across the state of Indiana a central space for sharing. On Thursday evenings beginning at 8 CST/9 EST when you use the #INeLearn hashtag, you are joining a live conversation--the #INeLearn Twitter Chat. For one hour, we interact in real time having a virtual discussion.
Hey folks! JoyAnn here. I’m a school librarian in Fishers. I’ll be popping in and out. Need to make cupcakes for the library aides. Tomorrow’s our last student day. #INeLearn
Tonight’s topic focuses on extending student learning throughout the summer to prevent the “summer slide.” Use the Q1, R1 format and include the #INeLearn hashtag. Q1 is coming up!
Good evening, #INeLearn . No big summer plans, although I plan to hit some Summer of eLearning events. Retired from K-12, but not libraries or education!
Here's a short blog on what parents & caregivers can do with/for their kids over the summer to keep learning happening- without workbooks! #g2greathttps://t.co/ojh0zZX9ev
As both a participant and a coordinator/moderator, my observation was how committed people are to seeking more than whatever their schools and communities offer. They want to partner and create new opportunities. #EDParentCamp#G2Great
R2: many of my students are taking summer school courses. Since I’m involved with this from the tech end, they will hear from me through the summer. Also, some follow me on Twitter. #INeLearn
R2: I still updated Google Classroom, made bookmarks for the Ss, promoted summer reading at the public library, and made the school library webpage summer-friendly. #INeLearn

A2-Used a closed Google plus group tied to their school district gsuite. Shared what they did, traveled, & anything they and I Learned! Yes...I contributed as well. Working together + role model. #INeLearn
R3 Our Ss continue to have access to their online reading accounts which I love. Sending home reminders and passwords for elem Ss right before the end is a good idea. #INeLearn
A3: Making connections to their life by story telling! I love the fact that social media can embrace the power of student voice (when used correctly). #INeLearn
R2 I continue to share what I’m reading, free book opportunities, etc through my library Instagram account. And I always update what I’m reading on @Goodreads. #INeLearn
R3 Sharing what we’re reading and recommendations. Looking for and posting about author, public library, and other events that students might be interested in. #INeLearn
R3: next year I want my kids to blog and video cast more what they do. This will allow them to help document what they do for summer for their own recollection. (Thinking ahead again....) #INeLearn
R2 I continue to share what I’m reading, free book opportunities, etc through my library Instagram account. And I always update what I’m reading on @Goodreads. #INeLearn
A3: I try and engage my kids (6 and 9) in using tech to produce. Last year they were really into YouTubeing so my oldest had to read how to set that up and then write scripts. #INeLearn
R2 I continue to share what I’m reading, free book opportunities, etc through my library Instagram account. And I always update what I’m reading on @Goodreads. #INeLearn
R3: Our Ss have access to a reading program during the summer. I’m wondering if we should leverage our FB presence to encourage reading throughout the summer. #INeLearn
So many schools encourage parents to share pics of their kids reading over break and tagging posts with a program/project hashtag. Just being “Shared” becomes incentive. #INeLearn
R3: Our Ss have access to a reading program during the summer. I’m wondering if we should leverage our FB presence to encourage reading throughout the summer. #INeLearn
R4: I think math is where it can get tricky! With my own kids, I try to do it in a real-world type of way. Math is everywhere, and it can be fun! #INeLearn
R4 At the lower levels, basic math facts are essential to higher level math concepts yet tend to slack over the summer. I liked to send some recommended summer apps home w/ Ss at the end of the year when I taught elem. #INeLearn
A4: I challenged the math teachers I coach to find and solve 25 problems over the summer. I am hoping they ask their students to do something similar. Not so much skills but habits of mind that I want Ss to retain/develop. #INeLearn
I was thinking the same. Even though Engl was my content area, I always created ways for my girls to apply math over summer. Budgeting for treats, etc. how can Ts support Ps in doing this? #inelearn Maybe a blog with weekly possibilities?

@PikeSchools has a program called Summer Stretch. Ss sign up for a “class” they want to take—makerspace, music making, drama, chess, etc. This is done in 3 1-week sessions. Kids can take up to 3 different classes. For elementary and MS Ss. #PikeProud#INeLearn
R5: Our school offers a jump start program for our incoming 6th graders and incoming K Ss. This happens later in the summer, but it's good stuff! #INeLearn
R5 Most of our online programs are available all summer to some degree. Our doors are open for sports and free lunch programs, but not much for academic endeavors. I would love to change that someday. #INeLearn
R3: All Ss have free access to 5K+ ebooks through Capstone this summer, similar to when we had myOn. (Mainly K-6 books) https://t.co/dZSLH5Q0BZ#INeLearn
@MrsCoppleSES@mrg_3 I encouraged doubling recipes, drawing diagrams of the bedroom and furniture before moving it around. Sewing projects. Anyway to encourage more measurement! #INeLearn
I would like to try to organize something where HS kids do this with younger kids through a mentor ship type program at some point with my current school. #INeLearn
R5 even if your school doesn’t offer specific programs, it would be worthwhile to share what’s available for free in your community. I’m thinking library, parks, community centers, museums, etc #INeLearn
Have Ps share summer plans/vacation and encourage kiddos to help with budgets...can we eat out, go to the pool, do we tickets to the roller coaster, etc...basically talk to them...it's really that easy in my experience. #INeLearn
Nailed...missed plenty of times. Ouch. I don't remember, but something to do with how the ground freezes...my dad used to make me stand in them. #INeLearn
I forget to mention I called the groups Warehouse XX. XX=grad year like Warehouse 18. Why?
B/C that's we stored info, hopes, dreams, successes, failures, etc... we stored our collective knowledge there. #INeLearn
My dad made me dig them to 48 inches. Then a half a sack of sackcrete. Dry. Always on the hottest day of the summer. Most holes I did in a day was 24. #INeLearn
A5- @ClarkCountySch offers summer camps, food service programs, FACES, summer classes, and more! Check it out here: https://t.co/wiuUHJQeQc
Best is breakfast and lunch for kids that need it! #INeLearn
That’s exactly what I was going to say. That and let them think of something unusual they want to learn how to do. My daughter decided to learn how to do balloon art on her own. #inelearn She learned a lot about perseverance that summer!
@weVideo and @flipgrid summer sharing. How fun is that? Let’s blog about the activities and post our videos on our own @YouTube channel. Finally, let’s create a #AR or #VR for our friends of our favorite spot on our vacation using a 360 camera? #INeLearn
R6 My own kiddos enjoy making movies, photo collages, flying drones, and now making GoPro footage. My son saved up to buy one for the summer and it arrived yesterday. He's pumped. #INeLearn
I like the idea of AP and how students need to read some before class starts in the fall. I think we could give out summer enrichment projects that students would love doing. #INeLearn
Good pt. Last time I taught 6th grade science, we did geocaching at end of the yr. Some Ss continued with their families. There were several caches at a park across the street from school, and I planted some "fake" ones on school grounds to practice. #INeLearn
R6 If you haven't tried the @ClipsApp it is a fun movie-making app that is stocked with features kids love. Simple to use even for little guys. #INeLearn
R7: Since I’m changing my curriculum focus next year, I’m going to establish my connections with parents and students the first of July. May give a couple of assignments and get things rolling. #INeLearn
R7 this can be tricky if Ss don’t learn who their teacher is until just before start of school. Maybe having a school or grade level platform would be cool. Share various tidbits over the summer as a team. #INeLearn
R7 I am so excited to meet my Ss before the end of the school year! I will have some I also had in K, so I will already have a connection with several. #INeLearn
Our new team is working on getting an eNewsletter going. I look forward to that because I've really missed that connection w/ families since moving to middle school. #INeLearn
I’m planning on this and working on 4Cs content with my students the first couple weeks of school. Essential for success in the 21st century IMO. #INeLearn
A7: As an instructional coach I don’t have typical new Ss. But this ? Makes me wonder about the need for a professional social media presence. Today’s Ss are likely to find you online first.?!.?!. #INeLearn
R8 Summer of eLearning, #ISTE2018, reading at least one PD book, and keep up with my fave blogs. I'm also going to PASS my certification tests for my building-level principal license. #fingerscrossed#INeLearn
R8 I find that I work just as much during summer as I do during the school year! Conferences, digging into curriculum, reinventing my classroom space... #INeLearn
R8: I’m planning on learning the complete Ins and outs of @CanvasLMS from setup to implementation. I’ve used and created classes, but not from the district level. Starting this on Tuesday! #INeLearn
There will be a joint Midwest affiliate meetup this year. I forget the day, but check #iceindiana -I’m happy to plan an informal #INeLearn meetup anytime though.
R8: Reallly looking forward to having AISLE get together with ALI at the Wilmeth Active Learning Center at Purdue to talk collaboration with teachers/instructors & connections between K-12 & Higher Ed... and it's an unconference! https://t.co/FOcRwOyeGj#INeLearn
A8-Network w/ as many people as I can at conferences, workshops, etc...
Reflect on the past year and write a plan to exceed expectations for next year.
Rest and watch as many movies + binge watch shows to relax... ;-)
#INeLearn
WU That's it is OK that we enjoy them and take the time to renew. I also want them to know how hard we work to better ourselves and stay connected to our Ss. #INeLearn

Thank you @MrsCoppleSES and @KindergartenVF for tonight’s topic. #INeLearn make plans to be here next week when we discuss 3 Questions Every Teacher Should Ask about EdTech!
