That's the power in social media when combined with your personal learning. Awesome! https://t.co/nPXU4ZDQ19
I presented once with people I'd only met on Twitter!
Yes. I usually come away excited. But this yr I saw 2 many vendors doing the same thing. No ingenuity or disruption.

A1: Conferences can provide new tools for instruction . https://t.co/CKy7NqqJBn
Q1: In what ways do going to conferences change your practice? Are they worth the investment?

That is so true. We are able to find out so much more and grow through those informal conversations.
is definitely worth it! The networking was amazing and the ideas to take back home were great.
yes, as an introvert I get that. It was important to me to focus on a few things and block out the rest
Absolutely admit that! That’s why I’d like to see conferences shift formats around this idea, to an extent.
I was so sad that I didn't go. I thought I'd dealt with it, but then it happened and I wasn't.
Agreed! The initial connections were just the beginning ;-)
Yes! Though those starting out may struggle to know who's who in the world. It's definitely a name game

..not just your secret..lol! and I dominated Blogger's Cafe!
Agreed. Very often, a conference is the only time when Ts get to meet and share ideas
Also, I have legit at conferences. I HATE to choose a bad session and miss out on great ideas from other tt.
It's the same for me but as long as I leave with ideas & insight for improving education it's a win.

and now it never has to end! For better or for worse... hopefully for better most of the time...
I have made some great accountability partners.
So the biggest challenge I think will be to convince others to collaborate. Not enough of us are connected.
A3. Really value being connected educator but much easier with face 2 face connection
yes, so important to find your niche and tribe who have your back!!
Agreed! Couldn't have said it better https://t.co/IngVdDOFv1
A3 honestly, I don't go to as many sessions for the sessions in face-to-face conferences. I learn the same amount virtually.
Love the energy and enthusiasm of tonight, btw.
Hey!!!! Wish we'd gotten a pic together from that I could put here.
무더운여름🍺 강남풀살롱 에서 꿀떡🍯 매직미러 강남야구장
Find it difficult to follow conferences virtually. 40 chars not enough.
agreed, it makes it feel more real
Good for you! It's important to know how we learn best so we can help Ss learn the same about themselves
A3 It's nice to be able to follow along, but it doesn't compare to being at a conference.
A3 If best practices/info are 1/2 way around the world/ppl I don't know, my students deserve to know them.
A3: The community did a fabulous job of curating information that I am still going through.
yep, there are a lot of educators here, but it's actually a small percentage
Q4 coming up in 1 minute…
I was just thinking the same thing!
The hashtag is how I found ISTE 2 years ago! Now I can barely remember what my life was like before!
Was there a difference between and ?
same for me. Also need some kind of curation. 40 chars from 1000's of people is just very confusing
Learning is amplified w/ Twitter! I loved the photos & reflections at . In person/online - It's a perfect combination
Q4:Were there times @ ISTE/conferences that made you uncomfortable/pushed you out of your comfort zone? How'd you handle them?
Following conferences virtual style has been challenging and made me appreciate 1:1 time even more.
Shut the front door...we're on question 4 https://t.co/vz74MYoJcM
Q4:Were there times @ ISTE/conferences that made you uncomfortable/pushed you out of your comfort zone? How'd you handle them?
A4 - Yes! And that’s the whole point. if you go to a conference and aren’t uncomfortable…you’re not doing it right.
A3: World is now my support system for education. It has really expanded my horizons. Twitter chats like
I've felt obligated 2 attend sessions=respect (I've presented-NTC) but I feel like I learn more at (s) https://t.co/M2FVAtCMQ8
A3 honestly, I don't go to as many sessions for the sessions in face-to-face conferences. I learn the same amount virtually.
Future variables need to considered & inc into variables. Sentence structure & emotions.
A4: keynotes by & pushed me to think hard about what I do as a T & if I can do better helping all Ss
Agreed! Finding my tribe has been huge for me also. I'm not on an island all the time anymore.
As far as what was shared virtually? Many more people at this yr intentionally shared w
New to Twitter and just learning the value of being a CE, but still learning
A4 Being on the introverted side it can be totally overwhelming to be at these large conferences https://t.co/C6Unc3hlbU
Q4:Were there times @ ISTE/conferences that made you uncomfortable/pushed you out of your comfort zone? How'd you handle them?
A4: Out of comfort zone when my existing paradigms are challenged.
Introducing self time. I'm a Teacher of Deaf, Sign, Math and work across years 7 to 12 in Oz.
A3: As I was in final weeks of busy school term no much time to follow but did get to some broadcasts
A3 I purposely didn't sign up for anything so I could just drink in the craziness that is ISTE. Had amazing method and convos.
A4: Yes, I felt uncomfortable at times at ISTE. But I can't grow unless I'm uncomfortable. Makes me a better person & educator
A4: I'm really shy so going is a step and then actually talking to people...huge. I've really pushed myself to get out there.
YES! SAME! Thank you for speaking up.
There's an energy at Conf - being around like-minded people - like the best PLC/faculty ever https://t.co/bScbyYDQ6v
A3 It's nice to be able to follow along, but it doesn't compare to being at a conference.
A4: I find that the first day of every conference when your alone can be a bit intimidating. Day 2 is when I get my groove.
Nice and ed chatty. I like that I don't just stay in my familiar boundaries anymore.
A4 My competitive spirit comes out. I listen to what others are doing, and it pushes me to do more.
I'm trying to find out what it will allow me to do that I can't do already. Need time to play and test.
A4. I found some vendors to be less than innovative. I tried to share my version for the classroom with them.
A4: It is important to remember that everyone is there bc they are passionate about education. Put that first and go with it.
A4. The keynotes, especially , made me think that I should be more aware of embedded social bias in teaching
A4 Lots of info. Deep breath. Bookmark. Send mag/pic to self. Still sifting through a week later. Still great info.
that was me as well....the enriching conversations are what made it an amazing learning experience
A4. Took me years to work up confidence to volunteer at . Have twice now and will every time. Thanks
A3 Ive begun to develop my PLN and while I work with an amazing group of tchs & admin Im blown away with how much I've learned
Q4:Were there times @ ISTE/conferences that made you uncomfortable/pushed you out of your comfort zone? How'd you handle them?
Dang it, autocorrect! Meetups, not method.
Yes! 100% agree with that statement https://t.co/aze44lGSCs
A4. The keynotes, especially , made me think that I should be more aware of embedded social bias in teaching
So true ! Takes time to absorb all the great ideas from https://t.co/keB6e18l9e
I'm trying to find out what it will allow me to do that I can't do already. Need time to play and test.
A4: Sometimes feels like the "1st day" at a new school; have to remember what you can offer & say hi to someone you don't know
A4: So many! Convos with were deep
Every time I go to a conference I learn from the conference presenters and from all other that attend!
Can I second that on the introvert comment! Uncomfortable is ok but I miss things being overwhelmed.
Would LOVE for this to happen at my school. Faculty meetings can be used for valuable discussion/pd
A4 201 -they spoke a diff Lang (tech-speak) which is diff than edtech .. Listened & learned https://t.co/O8FkoTlhQd
Q4:Were there times @ ISTE/conferences that made you uncomfortable/pushed you out of your comfort zone? How'd you handle them?
Not to be missed! Happening now. talking about https://t.co/0UwxLqr3vo
Welcome to ! Tonight we will be focusing on learnings from and other conferences
her keynote had a very powerful and reverberating impact on a lot of people! Her keynote was fire!
totally! I had to intentionally carve our some solo time to digest all the great stuff
A4: Trying new things can challenge but also empower & create change in mindsets https://t.co/oF8odjMDRd
Q4:Were there times @ ISTE/conferences that made you uncomfortable/pushed you out of your comfort zone? How'd you handle them?
Agreed. https://t.co/P5zaPuR7S5
A4: It is important to remember that everyone is there bc they are passionate about education. Put that first and go with it.
A4: My discomfort came in hoping my F2F meets would not feel awkward. Some were and most were AWESOME! https://t.co/dsHCGLhZpf
A5: Not sure it pushes me out of my comfort zone but really motivates me to try and be better.
have you heard of Chris Emdin? Will give you more to think about - strategies to use
glad I could get a laugh :)
Agreed! Can be very difficult to be “on” for several days, especially while engaged in constant conversations.
Yes! All of the new ideas can be overwhelming at times... but also very exciting! https://t.co/eF3y4eD1xl
Q4:Were there times @ ISTE/conferences that made you uncomfortable/pushed you out of your comfort zone? How'd you handle them?
Presented beside to room full of amazing educators--felt like it could easily be the other way around. Humbled.
While I was prepared I thought that the meeting with the superintendents that it would intense and didn't know what to expect.
A5 Resist the urge to do ALL the things right now. Need to process and digest.
So powerful, right! We all have bias….we just need to make sure we acknowledge & adjust.
I connected with some amazing people walking out of her keynote. Great convo starter.
Q4. I attended a conference last week on programming that was quite eye opening. To manage I became a sponge. I'm better for it.
Totally agreed- need to curate my own learning to apply in my own classroom https://t.co/eHJDAZrD9B
totally! I had to intentionally carve our some solo time to digest all the great stuff
A4: It depends on the practitioner. is just a method. Good pedagogy underlies quality. Biggest shift is collaboration
A4 I've attended conferences that encouraged me to stretch my comfort zone, which then encouraged collaboration with other Ts.
I find these conferences do a pretty good job of reminding you we are all just humans
Processing time is definitely part of my experience.
A4 I don't do big crowds. LOL. I had to take time to decompress. Pacing is key.
A4 I feel pushed (in good way!) when forced to defend my ideas, whether in formal session or during conversations with others.
especially once you bring the after hour events!
timing is poor for us in NS. We're in exams, graduation, etc. Really hard to get away from school.
I know...for the most part it felt like a grand reunion https://t.co/3NZPFfWXWi
Isn't that the truth.... I felt that same way at Edcamps or the big conference.
This is so true. I have to force myself out of my comfort zone so that I get the most out of them. https://t.co/KkEKxEt97f
A4 Being on the introverted side it can be totally overwhelming to be at these large conferences https://t.co/C6Unc3hlbU
Q4:Were there times @ ISTE/conferences that made you uncomfortable/pushed you out of your comfort zone? How'd you handle them?
A4. I think it is key to be stretched beyond your comfort zone at a conference. Sometime take the leap. is essential 4 growth!
Exactly! Often ends up being both a marathon and a sprint.
this helps me develop on my why
Understood. Still difficult for me to do. I must find a balance. . https://t.co/0bx5cBePPv
A5 Resist the urge to do ALL the things right now. Need to process and digest.
A4: New faces brings some nerves. Always remember what my mom told me as a kid, "it's like a movie, at the end, you go home"
As I met more and more people I was more comfortable! Quickly changed to being hungry for more info and connections
A4: Talking to people w/different opinions on taught me to keep saying my thoughts instead of being quiet.
thanks Cheryl! https://t.co/0Omuqdwk8c
was the best 2 days I spent professionally. Great collaboration & inspiration for 21st century teachers!
Cannot tell you how many "decompressing" moments I took alongside the conference walls! https://t.co/E3J4a4pk4j
A4 I don't do big crowds. LOL. I had to take time to decompress. Pacing is key.
Wll said! Agree wholeheartedly! A little analysis and citing evidence never hurt anyone
Our blogging in sign language gets picked up by all sorts of learners. They can quietly look and learn. Love it.
A4 Yes. Anything that involved socializing with people. I mostly hid. Boo.
Q5 coming up in 1 minute…
that is darn good advice!
definitely-- folks in our community love to focus on to try
Anyone want e-pals this year? At a K-5 school. Would love a LIM school but take others! Sign up! https://t.co/CHvcKAPawy
Couldn't agree more!! https://t.co/xPzO6wN2qy
A4: Yes, I felt uncomfortable at times at ISTE. But I can't grow unless I'm uncomfortable. Makes me a better person & educator
Falling in love and out of love with my own ideas. Allows me to critique and question my own theories.
A4 Making decisions where to go, or being alone at first, get into the groove, being active, make new friends!
Q5: Do you think edtech companies and educators do enough to interact at these conferences? Is that important?
Excellent point! https://t.co/N6yDZ1B9Ps
Falling in love and out of love with my own ideas. Allows me to critique and question my own theories.
A4: At first YES! I looked around remember feeling, "yes, these are my people" I wish I could have connected with everyone.
Molly, great chat tonight. So fun to see so many of my friends like on ! https://t.co/FTWrvKQFdo
The face behind the handle tonight is , I will be asking the questions
Words of wisdom https://t.co/ShnzojXo7m
Falling in love and out of love with my own ideas. Allows me to critique and question my own theories.
Reminds me of the process from Adam Grant's the Originals https://t.co/VnwDsL7Lgp
Falling in love and out of love with my own ideas. Allows me to critique and question my own theories.
yeah I went to a few. Presented at 3ish and attended 3ish. So much to do there.
I love that. Too many times we're afraid to say the wring thing but if you are genuinely learning... https://t.co/JKz9bakos6
A4: Talking to people w/different opinions on taught me to keep saying my thoughts instead of being quiet.
Hi Jenny. Health and PE teacher lurking while we have a bad storm in MN.
A4: More overwhelmed then uncomfortable, so many great ideas, so many things I want to do! I try to take one thing at a time
I would love to re-watch or other keynotes to re-digest https://t.co/6Bh2G0Dq5w
I connected with some amazing people walking out of her keynote. Great convo starter.
He spoke at NTC ... Do you have his book? Is it a good one? https://t.co/ObeV083EOQ
have you heard of Chris Emdin? Will give you more to think about - strategies to use
love that Danieta, being okay with falling out of love with an idea! We can get so attached!
A5: companies: Ask Ts for help designing products & give us ideas how to use your product right away
I saw you weighing in on this question earlier. https://t.co/myXuutaz9H
Q5: Do you think edtech companies and educators do enough to interact at these conferences? Is that important?
A5: Go to as many events/sessions that include companies and educators as equal voices as possible. We need each other!
Reminder: Q5: Do you think edtech companies and educators do enough to interact at these conferences? Is that important?
A5: I think you can get as little or as much interaction as you want. Educators can control going exhibit hall visits
A5: Interaction is the whole point of conferencing. Pointless without it.
Agreed. I am probably too stubborn. Always like to see teacher input in Edtech companies.
A5 Tough question. There’s a bias against EdTech companies at these events, given the assumption that they just want to sell.
I know exactly what I need it drives me bananas when people try to interact, read force their product.
A5: My first time attending while representing a company. It's important to listen, share, and collaborate. Not just sell
A5: Job of companies at conferences is to promote products. If they are good, then they listen & interact.
A5 Def think Tech companies do alot. Sometimes felt like vendors in the mall tho...don't always love
Definitely. Our I ideas can always be in beta as we learn & talk w/people.
I know mentioned it will be available to ISTE members soon. did a periscope you can check out
It can feel like 1 vs other but we're all working toward the same goal. They wouldn't have gone into edtech if they wanted $
A5: Maybe a different type of interaction between teachers and companies? Less selling and more validation/learning together
A5: I loved (finally!) interacting w/ the team ftf at ! They are super helpful & very open to T feedback.
A5 For this reason, many avoid “vendors” altogether, with conferences restricting what they can do, fairly or not.
A5: I found the connections I made before with those we use already were most beneficial. Builds the relationship
A5) It's might be the MOST important aspect- if designers aren't interacting w/ users they can't create an effective product.
A5: V important - communication between companies & Ts is key. Companies need 2 know what Ts need! https://t.co/6dgNRYEO3p
Q5: Do you think edtech companies and educators do enough to interact at these conferences? Is that important?
A5 A chance 4 more time w edtech co's, like a day 2 hands on, would be great. Could have chance to sit, talk, demo in context
I believe referred to him in her speech, no? I have to look him up! Thx!
A5: Putting them into a vendor hall makes the whole experience overwhelming. How can it be more genuine?
A5.b I think the tech companies have a lot more $ than we educators too...makes me a little sad
A5 I would hope so ... Is the focus the same? Is a Conf the place for that collaboration? https://t.co/QeGiR2EuGQ
Q5: Do you think edtech companies and educators do enough to interact at these conferences? Is that important?
T's and ed tech companies NEED each other. Need to lose the adversarial attitude.
it's important to stay open. taught me ;-)
A5 I’d like to see a different approach, where vendors aren’t confined to an expo hall. Not yet sure what that could look like.
Yes, I felt some Edtech co were light on educator voice and understanding of the classroom experience.
A5: It's important to get feedback from those using the programs. Can really improve products and understand how to use it.
A5: I wonder what it would be like if there were no gimmicks, giveaways, & contests and just normal convos not based on selling
A5 I think the conversations btw them are impt & I always make it a pt to go meet F2F , we need each othr fdbk
I enjoyed talking company's whose products have helped me in the classroom. Also a chance to hear directions they want to go
Agreed. A different format approach. Teachers participate in the idea validation process.
A5 I felt like some vendors were more interested in convo than others. I had some great conversations!
Agree. Need a 2nd session. 1 - meet/greet. 2 - demo date.
True!!!! https://t.co/KbAGe4ljhx
I love that. Too many times we're afraid to say the wring thing but if you are genuinely learning... https://t.co/JKz9bakos6
A4: Talking to people w/different opinions on taught me to keep saying my thoughts instead of being quiet.
A5 I think the interaction is important but awkward. It's sometimes tough convincing someone that I don't control purse strings
Yes. I realized if I want change then keeping quiet wasn't going to do anything.
A5) Look for edtech creators that ware founded by teachers
A5 Except when interact becomes "force" So many say but "you could use English" when this is not my subject.
, I like the sound of that
A5.c I absolutely LOVE meeting creators of apps. They LOVE hearing how we are using their apps in the classroom. Validation!
Yes! In other words, if they didn’t have to compete for attention by doing tricks. https://t.co/yqOUlUaYY7
A5: I wonder what it would be like if there were no gimmicks, giveaways, & contests and just normal convos not based on selling
A5: Interaction is how we learn - communication, connection, networking important for both sides https://t.co/ex481v2rTn
Reminder: Q5: Do you think edtech companies and educators do enough to interact at these conferences? Is that important?
A5: At ISTE2015 I learned & teachers don't always speak same lang (thx to ). I work to learn common lang now
Maybe still need the expo hall, but have immediate access to quiet space for real exchange? Vendor would benefit too
Good to hear!!! https://t.co/M7lNDBYIZC
A5: My first time attending while representing a company. It's important to listen, share, and collaborate. Not just sell
A5: These 2 groups (if not more) should be in bed together because the load is heavy and 1 group can't do it solo!
I hear you. Nothing good/priductive ever comes from "forcing"
The Tech for Schools Summit did a great job of this, I think. https://t.co/dkWRDrbq0X
Maybe still need the expo hall, but have immediate access to quiet space for real exchange? Vendor would benefit too
I agree. Have attended meet ups where we talk about program and generate ideas.
Q4:Were there times @ ISTE/conferences that made you uncomfortable/pushed you out of your comfort zone? How'd you handle them?
Q4 coming up in 1 minute…
Q5 coming up in 1 minute…
Q5: Do you think edtech companies and educators do enough to interact at these conferences? Is that important?
Could "book" a small group session for next day for more w/co's you are interested in.
A5. On the plus side, many companies were there to work along side educators - those were the ones I sought out.
Maybe if they sent them to tchrs in advance to demo??? https://t.co/3GqPZaPjuM
A5: It's important to get feedback from those using the programs. Can really improve products and understand how to use it.
I loved the Expo! Many had mini sessions right there. Most of the companies had educators on staff & were fantastic!
A5 cont'd I love it when vendors are interested in how their products are being used and are open to feedback. I 💖 you,
Agreed, but I don't know a way around it. They are there to sell. That might be the prob. https://t.co/o2A7AUYFUj
A5: Putting them into a vendor hall makes the whole experience overwhelming. How can it be more genuine?
A5. At my 1st , I leaned the most when I made connections with tech companies. Techco's = classroom innovation
A5: companies frustrated me at bc many didn't encourage Ss higher level thinking. https://t.co/riiulpPEpQ
Q5: Do you think edtech companies and educators do enough to interact at these conferences? Is that important?
That sounds like an interesting idea! https://t.co/8sMQ18hGUx
Could "book" a small group session for next day for more w/co's you are interested in.
I think it also underscores our bias toward vendors, when this is all we expect of them.
Q6 coming up in 1 minute…
another reason the conference is special.
yes love when vendors want to improve and make learning experiences better for Ss and help Ts
I'd like to see them have Ts show how they use the tech in the real world instead of some salesperson telling me to.
We have a way to insert ourselves because we know what we want & what kids deserve https://t.co/BLXkAt40Lw
I loved the Expo! Many had mini sessions right there. Most of the companies had educators on staff & were fantastic!
A5. I think about meeting , ,... I would not have known about them had it not been for presence
Q6: What are people not discussing at edtech conferences that they should be?
I enjoyed that as well. The creators seemed really engaged and passionate!
I thought so! You're name and face looked familiar :) You were amazing at giving feedback
Yes! And also watch teachers hack the tools to see how they could better be used. https://t.co/ZFIWLZ3b4v
I'd like to see them have Ts show how they use the tech in the real world instead of some salesperson telling me to.
Already the last question? https://t.co/5ZTJ60Bafg
Q6: What are people not discussing at edtech conferences that they should be?
Definitely. Some companies said here's the tech, but didn't elaborate. That was disappointing.
Who doesn't love a pixie stick...looks like we're on question 6. https://t.co/ThRId6l4VP
Q6: What are people not discussing at edtech conferences that they should be?
A6 I'm sitting this one out. I want to hear what the group has to say.
Enjoyed the booths connecting with
A6 What are people not discussing! Favourite question. For me the lack of edtech to support non written languages
This is why cos and Ts should work 2gether and have time 2 share. I think they want 2 know what u need https://t.co/cVZC7QH66a
A5: companies frustrated me at bc many didn't encourage Ss higher level thinking. https://t.co/riiulpPEpQ
Q5: Do you think edtech companies and educators do enough to interact at these conferences? Is that important?
Sometimes we expect too much of companies. It is hard to program algorithms for higher order thinking
A6: The power of connections in the Bloggers Cafe is off the charts. We need more facilitated roundtable discussions.
A6: We need to talk frankly about the digital divide & lobby pols and EdTech companies to solve the problem
Yes! it's like you're in my head!
uh no x1000 Sarah is not an extrovert...don't let the social media presence fool ya :)
Awesome! Expo hall has usually been the best in my experience.
A6. How to reach the educators who are not there?
A6: Not discussing students enough
A6:So many Ts who could benefit (& their Ss) are priced out of attending. I wonder how many attendees paid own way.
I absolutely agree!! Ambassador programs are essential! https://t.co/ZA9pHFjl1f
I'd like to see them have Ts show how they use the tech in the real world instead of some salesperson telling me to.
Love this idea about curated connections at conferences https://t.co/oO0bYDxX8e
A6: The power of connections in the Bloggers Cafe is off the charts. We need more facilitated roundtable discussions.
A6 I need to attend to know .. At school, we need 2 own our data & learn ways 2 improve st achievement https://t.co/kLLTXO9xXl
Q6: What are people not discussing at edtech conferences that they should be?
. Great chat tonight about Thanks to all!
A6: I think all educators should spend time in bloggers cafe at ISTE. So many great convos that went on there.
A6: more ways to get of tech in all schools and every student connected
Sign language is a fast growing popular choice but apps in Oz, exactly 1!
A6. How to reach teachers with subject areas that are not so tech friendly.
Yes, I love asking for Beta or to pilot. Only way to know if it will work and how to work out the bugs.
A6: I think we need to continue to talk about equity and what we want tech to actually DO in 20 years for underserved students
I should've gone there! Still kicking myself for not getting to it. We missed this at
Reminder: Q6: What are people not discussing at edtech conferences that they should be?
Its a problem both for access to & access to Ts who know how to use it well https://t.co/qfJRUP4g27
A6: I think we need to continue to talk about equity and what we want tech to actually DO in 20 years for underserved students
A6: Social justice issues and equity issues in education should be discussed regularly. Not popular topics but necessary
More conversation about the digital divide and digital equity
A6 Agreed. How privilege affects the effectiveness of tech and what our ultimate goals are. https://t.co/NYxkn8o5ov
A6: I think we need to continue to talk about equity and what we want tech to actually DO in 20 years for underserved students
I was thinking the same thing, but about non-converts. Is there talk of how to encourage and bring them aboard?
Agreed. So many tools reinforce skill/drill. That's why I'm looking at doing more w/ . https://t.co/Ol29UJeo9Y
A5: companies frustrated me at bc many didn't encourage Ss higher level thinking. https://t.co/riiulpPEpQ
Q5: Do you think edtech companies and educators do enough to interact at these conferences? Is that important?
Both of my children chose ASL as their world language to learn in HS ... Proud of them!! https://t.co/me8x5mgR6g
Sign language is a fast growing popular choice but apps in Oz, exactly 1!
How do we get these convos to happen more? https://t.co/JJAhMWc9Tt
A6: Social justice issues and equity issues in education should be discussed regularly. Not popular topics but necessary
Yes! This part I did get quite a bit out of.
A6 from : in digital age information has no value--it's a commodity. How do we turn information into intelligence?
A6. I think there is always room for more student voice.
A6: Discussing the challenge, messiness of trying something new. What systems/management is needed to make it sustainable?
A6: I am constantly looking for true innovation, not just teching up more of the same. What can we truly change for the better?
We cannot wait 20 years because that is a whole slew of kids left behind. There's work to do. https://t.co/ytTIUvGdyG
A6: I think we need to continue to talk about equity and what we want tech to actually DO in 20 years for underserved students
size of ISTE not conducive. Smaller breakout sessions. More sessions discussing these topics instead of tools
A6 Theyre not talking about my kids who live deep in the access gap. I'm left to hack it all together for them out of <3 & will
A6: Data from high performing K-12 integration schools is not shared enough; this would help w/convos w/hesitant Ts & admin
A6. There seemed to be quite a buzz about student voice this year. I'm hoping that becomes embedded in the future. Crucial.
I took sign language in college. Still has been helpful for me.
A6: The schools & students not able to afford latest tech are falling way behind. How to help them? https://t.co/HG7QQPEuV6
Q6: What are people not discussing at edtech conferences that they should be?
Absolutely A6: Equity in gender, race, resources,... and what we plan to do! https://t.co/qG7nsUWVJq
A6: I think we need to continue to talk about equity and what we want tech to actually DO in 20 years for underserved students
100% agree, but we also can't not look 20 yrs ahead because then we can get wooed by shiny objects that don't impact
I agree-this is still such a huge issue in many places. It needs t be addressed + acted upon.
Would you say it involves non-educators stumbling over education buzz words? Or is it something different?
A6: Equity….providing access and opportunity to all. What that looks like…how to sustain it..why it’s important
A6 How does interface with social-emotional learning and help us strengthen it?
We try to Tweet this daily in our class. https://t.co/2pJfLhrdKj
A6: Social justice issues and equity issues in education should be discussed regularly. Not popular topics but necessary
want to say thanks from to those who made us feel as though we were at I learned so much 👍
It want districts to work with telcomm companies to offer lower-cost Internet to qualifying families https://t.co/Xhsi1YY6Lw
A6: We need to talk frankly about the digital divide & lobby pols and EdTech companies to solve the problem
