Good evening! I’m Walt, a curriculum director from Macomb County, MI & #COLchat co-moderator with @FbellomoB.

A1. Tough question. So many great educators. It would be great to talk to one of my former teachers as a kid but in the present day I think it would be cool to have a chat with @brewerhm as this guy is doing great things in education! Seems like a great place to learn! #COLchat
Larry Frankland was the APUSH teacher at Ike. I never had him@but he was so beloved by all staff & students. I would love to know all that he could share. #COLchat
A1: I have been luck enough to have ten minutes with some great educators Hmm... would love to sit down an talk middle level ed with @JoyKirr impressed by all her work #colchat
Q2.If, as a gameshow contestant, you were given the opportunity to phone a friend for a question about student learning, who would you call? Why? #COLchat
I would 100% choose @MrDtimes3! The energy he brings to his classroom and the field of education is so inspiring and motivating. #COLchat The way he interacts with his students is phenomenal! #embraceyourweird
Ryan in Michigan, 6th grade social studies.
My costume, for an unprecedented 18th straight year, is mad-teacher. I'm not angry, just a bit off the wall. #colchat
A2. I probably would phone my friend @WaltKozlowski since I once taught in his building and learned a lot from him. He’s a colleague I can continue to seek advice in. Hmm. Who else could I call? So many great educators out there! #COLchat
I thought about @rickwormeli2 as well. Love his ideas and videos! #COLchat I like listening to his thoughts on grading, homework, busy work….etc. #COLchat

A1: I would probably choose @jmattmiller. I would love to pick his brain about anything from #DitchBook. His ability to transform tech tools into enhanced lesson opportunities is great. I need that knowledge. #COLchat
I would phone my old high school history teachers, Mrs. Smith. She worked hard to adjust her lessons to fit each student's individual needs. She is the epitome of differentiation and growth mindset. #COLchat
Q3: What do you have in your classroom or office that would provide visitors insight into your priorities or interests outside of school/work? #COLchat

She sounds like a wonderful teacher who left a great impact on you. Exactly the way it should be. We should all strive to be a (insert your fav. teachers name). #COLchat
A2: A former consultant that worked for our school would be my phone a friend. His mind in reference to student learning and anything education was absolutely amazing. He was definitely and outside the box thinker and had rationale for most refuted points. #COLchat
A3: good question! I chalkboard that says what I’m currently reading, a crocheted Mario banner that I made, pics of my family, plants, and a vintage fridge on my wall! #COLchat
A3 #colchat Lots of sports materials around the room. Tiger, Lions and Pistons oh my!! .... oh and they will notice no hockey stuff which is strange for a man living in hockey town.
Photos of family and friends. The kids seem to get a kick out of the model cars (matchbox and hot wheels…..unopened….Yes unopened!) Other artifacts that give away my personality. #COLchat
A2 That's a hard one! I have had many good teachers but I would have to say my old middle school teacher Mrs. Lakovski! She was crazy but so entertaining! #COLchat
A3: My Wall of Fame (which is no longer a wall, but a space on a shelf). I have personal items to show who I am, my interests, and pictures of my family. #COLchat
A4. To tell you the truth, I have found many great resources and articles on TWITTER. I’ve learned from many great people near and far. I’ve gotten different perspectives and also some affirmations! #COLchat
Cool! My students named my plants - they call the philodendron "Phil," etc. I love that as 4th graders they even notice the plants let alone help take care of them! #colchat#aedu209trolls
Q3: In my future classroom I would love to have an organized desk that was full of pops of color and maybe a few succulents. Maybe a tiny sand zen garden? It might get messy but I can only imagine the stress relieving powers #colchat
Q4: YouTube is ALWAYS by go to. So many classroom organization videos and teacher day in the life videos. Gets me excited to have my own classroom in the future! As well as nervous hahah #colchat
My "go to" resource when it comes to needing help in the classroom is always my mentor teachers, professors, colleagues and past teachers that have taught me. #COLchat

#colchat Q3. Sorry I am a little late to this tweet chat, but in my future classroom, I would make sure to have the objectives displayed everyday. I would also like the students work to be displayed throughout the classroom.
They are awesome until you have to clean them. I have taken over the cleaning duties of our school’s aquarium. Oh well, the kids like it so the task I will do! #COLchat

What are you currently reading and what is it teaching you?
OR
What PD have you recently attended that you have really enjoyed?

A7: I'm looking to get back into the blogging game and updating my website to help promote myself as a presenter. I'm excited to share my thoughts with the world, regardless of how many (or few) actually read what I've written. #COLchat
Good question!
I have suggested Quantum Teaching to new teachers, in the past. I like it because, when I was new to the profession, it really helped me think through some of what I did in my classroom. #COLchat

A7. I am very excited about our teachers and their commitment to PBIS and improving culture and climate. We have been doing the positivity project #OtherPeopleMatter and it’s going great!! #COLchat
A8: I am going to have to read back through tonight's chat to jot down some of the resources mentioned and follow some folks.
Great sharing tonight!
#COLchat
Met some great people from Ohio and Missouri who I learned from! Another from GA in the SEC. Alabama was in the house. Got some great ideas from some regulars and newcomers today! Loved it! #COLchat
Q8: I met so many kind educators that gave me such good advice for books to read and other tips when starting out as a new teacher! Thank you all so much😊 #colchat
The tutor style blogs work well but since I am visual I usually look for the VLOGs on Youtube I read more inspiration or personal stores ... but yes we have to meet them where they are! #colchat
Learned a lot from a chat about "nothing" tonight. Thanks, all!
We'll be back next Monday night for a conversation about cultivating leaders!
Enjoy your Halloween week!
#COLchat
Thanks @LWPulley - I will check this out - I want to incorporate a quick lesson for my students for the midterms next week but haven't decided what to do yet #colchat#aedu209trolls
Enjoy your week with your students and team! We are in the profession of people. Enjoy what you do. Enjoy each other! Build relationships! #COLchat
