A1: goal setting b/c its the road map of where you want to go & how you're going to get there
A1 Goals keep you on track when the daily pressures & extra duties get piled on. Keeps you focused on helping Ss & Ts.
A1-Goal setting is impt because it helps you to focus & be intentional about your actions to achieve what you set out to do
I'm new to Katy ISD and junior high this year! Learning the ropes one day at a time!
A1 It gives you direction, just like a map. You could waste lots of time if you don't know where you are going.
A1. Specific goals motivate time management and achievement of priorities. Without goals, we won't stretch ourselves.
A1 Goal setting helps establish an intentional path or focus for the year.
better late than never! Sonja, HS librarian in Nacogdoches, rolling in from my DKG meeting and ready to learn!
To have a focus and something to work towards
Hey there!! Glad you could joinus
The HOW you get there is so important! https://t.co/VOlxVKCss0
A1: goal setting b/c its the road map of where you want to go & how you're going to get there
A1 Having a goal gives you something to aim for. Something to improve on.
Hi everyone! I'm Bridget Jarrett, district librarian for Rogers ISD. I'm rocking a baby to sleep and excited for !
It is important for us and our students to continually grow and set the bar higher!
A1 To sorta quote...You don't know where you are going if you don't know where you've been...or something like that.
A1: find needs, set goals, make great things happen! That's the way of it!
A1 Goal setting gives me something to work towards. Helps me to stay focused & inspired
Hi Sara! Thanks for joining in tonight
A1: Goal setting gives you a lane to be in
A1: It's helping me manage the library one item at a time.
Another Central TX Librarian-welcome to
Intentional path is good phrase
We ask Ts to stretch so it's important to ask ourselves to as well!
Yes - inspiration and purpose. Serves as a helpful reminder of our WHY. https://t.co/z3A1E6HCcm
A1 Goal setting gives me something to work towards. Helps me to stay focused & inspired
A1: FOCUS. We get pulled in so many directions! When I stop to think about what I want to accomplish it brings me back to center!
A1: Goal-setting helps you prioritize and get more done!
YES! Helps to keep you from getting overwhelmed
You have to go slow to go fast!
A1 Goal setting is also a way of showing our admin how important librarians are to students' success!
Well said - "back to center"
A1 Jan Pelias from Frisco here! Goals help drive your whole year!
THIS. With goals, Admin can no longer wonder what we do all day! https://t.co/y0SRUbyQ0Z
A1 Goal setting is also a way of showing our admin how important librarians are to students' success!
A2-Sharing framework, reflecting personally & self-assessing current reality, then setting goals for learning
A2-Desiging PD opportunities for TLs to apply framework to continue transforming library space & services for patrons
A1: Written and frequently-referred to and measured goals keep you from drowning in the day-to-day "manager" duties and give focus.
A2. Coordinate District History Day and get those kids researching in a meaningful PBL. Use too!
A2 wrote goals based on framework. Had to explain impact on campus, not just library.
Setting goals is important. Reflecting on the journey of meeting those goals is VITAL.
Welcome! I've got grandkids settling down for sleep myself!
A2 Creating spaces in library for SS to create, collaborate, & enrich their studies or personal growth.
A2 Activities for at risk students, gentrify fiction, purchase maker spaces kits for STEM to entice "under the radar kids"
A2: Create a project w/ea Grade level, implementing makerspaces and genrefy the collection.
A2 I attended ISTE this past summer with my main goal in mind- Establish curriculum connections & collaborate w Ts about MakerSpace
A2: one goal is to improve my use of social media to tell our library’s story
A2 collaborate more w Ts, push reading programs like , , Little Mavs & Book Bingo.
A2 My goal is to help meet their goals & and see the impact they have outside of the library space.
So great that you are getting your story out there! Don't let others tell your own story.
A2 Increased community involvement! In my experience, the community members want to partner with educators! Just invite them!
A-2 More collaboration w/teachers & incoporating Makerspace themes & activites
Yes! The reflecting piece is often done hastily, but so important! I have learned so much by looking back too.
A2:
1. Study spaces
2. Maker space
3. Students search catalog and check out independently
A2 Utilize the library and librarian in and out of my classroom! Embrace 21st century learners!
A2: further develop my Makerspace
A2: push into PLCs more to collaborate w/ teachers
A2: part 2
Heritage celebrations year round for all!
A2 I am planning to start and more activities. I want to have my Ss be digital creators not just consumers
A2. grow collaboration, complete genrefying, move closer to the idea of hygge in my cozy reading spaces
Naomi Bates here, a little late but a lotta learning to do!
A2: encourage my Ta to further their PLN
A2 Enhancing circulation with genrefication in fiction, increase communication and PLC on Twitter, Collaborate and co-teach more
I like that! I'm adding that too-I love the connection.
A2: Active defense of my libraries! Libraries effect every student: need a para for one library and a flex schedule for the other.
Helping Ss craft their digital presence is an urgent need for sure! https://t.co/IFR7YocwPq
A2 I am planning to start and more activities. I want to have my Ss be digital creators not just consumers
A3. Most important measure is number of Ss affected by library programs and classes.
A2: Making the impossible possible by partnering with local library and volunteers
Hey there! glad you are here tonight!
SO true! And not just businesses, but also public libraries and college librarians. Valuable partnerships!!
Active defense - love that! People who don't know need to see us in action
A2: Nurture readers as they try new genres and support teachers in any way I can
A2: Establish relationships w/ Ss & Ts. Develop a ❤️ for rdg in all Ss. Collaborate w/ Ts in all content areas throughout the yr.
I've always wanted to attend ISTE-it's on my list this year since its in TX
A3 The District/Campus Improvement Plan + STARR help focus goals to what’s impt to district.
A3 We use SMART goals! Plus a template was orovided for campus librarian goals & reflections
A3 STARR data, presentations at professional development
A3 Number of students using the library, participating in library programs, # of collaboration lessons with Ts
That campus plan houldn't just be sitting in a folder somewhere. Make it a living doc
A3: Goals more from opportunities that present themselves
Libs can approach principals as their partner to meet campus goals.
I use a color coded online calendar. If in red, I am in direct instruction w/teachers. Very visible/transparent to entire campus
A3 We have one initiative in my district- to transform learning! I look at what my students create! Creators not consumers
A3 I need them to understand the research process better, and makes the research relevant not teacher mandated.
A3: this year (BOY) I sent staff wide google form survey for perception and needs 4 Ss & staff! Plus@ analyze library sign in
A3 Student input. Previous Twitter Parent Community. Working with principal and teams for prescriptive tutoring
A2: To promote info literacy in ALL classes, get ALL teachers on board, set expectation that S will use our digital resources
It's an amazing and empowering conference! All TLs should make at least one if they can!
This is a great idea! https://t.co/hJoqqsvkXa
I use a color coded online calendar. If in red, I am in direct instruction w/teachers. Very visible/transparent to entire campus
A3: Campus improvement plans...library should help achieve those goals, too.
A4. Writing goals turns staff development training into things that are implemented and used!
A4 It's important to know the dif between goals, objectives, and anart strategies.
A4-Writing & sharing goals makes it real, creates commitment. They make you focus on what to do
A4 For me it provides accountability. If I say I'm going to do something and others know it - I better do it!
Hey late arrival tonight! Howdy all! Nancy Jo from in Frisco!
A4 Without stated goals, it’s difficult to evaluate the success of your program.
Use a colorful graphic organizer like libraries
A3 District mission/vision, learner/educator profile
In the future, the updatedTexas State Library Standards can be used to guide libraries to be future ready! It's happening!
Hi Alona-thx for joining tonight!
YES! Look for those trainings that will help you with goals
A4 Writing & sharing goals helps me focus & make Ss & Ts aware of what my charge is for the year!
A4 Writing makes it tangible. Sharing creates synergy because imagination is stimulated by the good ideas shared
A4: Writing and sharing goals helps hold you accountable. It also allows others to help you achieve them. Can't do it all alone!
A4. Writing my goals forces me to think VERY intentionally about them & gives me something concrete
If we want to be library leaders, we must lead by example. Then we can help teachers achieve their goals. Transparency.
exactly-much more likely it'll get done if I write it.
A4 Sharing goals helps admin know what you are striving to do. Makes you more accountable
A4: implements change, 👆 S success, demonstrate program effectiveness to admin & ➕
Great! Better late than never
Can you share one of your SMART goals? I'd love more examples!
Love how blogged his goals and then aligned his action and shared that thruout year
A4 entered goals into form. I used Autocrat to produce doc that was shared with campus admin.
A4 writing it down gives you a visual. It also helps you w wording ur goal just rt. Sharing them keeps u accountable.
A4 Not to start confusion. anart strategies are really SMART strategies! Sorry for the typo.
A4: Although just paper and pencil, writing it down somehow makes it permanent
A4: Writing down my goals helps make them more tangible -- and achievable.
A4. written goals are the highway I travel during the year. Keeps me focused and moving forward. gives me specifics to evaluate
exactly about the synergy!
A4 anytime you share you're growing your library community. A great ldr is one who not only leads but learns. Let others teach you
A4 I post my goals in the library and on my library website.
As a team our librarians wrote essential questions for the year
A4: It's all about the documentation
Love it! Always learning from him!
That makes it more official!
A5-I have not shared them yet but it's on my radar as I do my year-long planning. I will share with my librarians
I'd love to hear more about that! Can I email you?
A5 is on my goal list. Now I'm looking for ideas.
A5, Share successful projects and proposed projects with relevant departments, admin and others.
A5 I used to put together an annual report, but the end of the year is crazy with projects and programs and I've let it slip :(
A5 Will begin work to visually document goal progress
A5 I am planning to share with my principal and then talk with individual PLCs about what I want to help them accompish this year.
A5: I shared my goals with my team(Specials) and they helped me revise. I also have them on my office door and share them at PLC's
A5 Twitter, table talkers, working w/ Campus Testing Coord., student outreach at lunch, b4 school, website, monthly newsletter
A5 Sharing through google docs w/admin, library services & teachers
