A1: Not just for SPED Ss but for at risk Ss and ones who could have dyslexia, I use the diversity of digital technology: audio/video instructions, audio passages, text size in variation, highlighter add on tool for editing Google Docs #MOEdChat
A1: Technology has made it possible to track student progress towards their goals much more efficiently. Also, it provides teachers ways to accommodate student needs and give them access to grade level curriculum. #MOedchat
A1: Tech is everywhere in my role-- consultation, collaboration, Google extensions/forms/sheets, creating online data collection tools, visuals, finding evidence based interventions, the list goes on and on! #moedchat
A1: Tech allows for some easier ways to differentiate for all of the learners in my room. It also makes writing/telling stories more accessible with speech to text tools. #moedchat
A2: I think there is tech out there that benefits both! I've seen some great tech resources that support Ts (graphing tools, programs, etc.) and some tech resources that empower Ss (extensions, speech to text, etc.) #moedchat
A2: in our district, we are gettting tech in students’ hands more. We should still focus PD giving teachers support in utilizing it to its fullest potential, though. Tech should support good pedagogy. #MOedchat
A2 - Tech is for all. It creates a better experience for all when used correctly. Can also be a distraction and waste of money when used as simple substitution for doing same old things in a new way. #moedchat
A3: I really like this IEP goal tracking sheet that @sloke_psych shared with out district. It's a great visual for students/families to see progress towards goals visually! #moedchathttps://t.co/dx4fpneOcY
A3: I also think @PearDeck is an AMAZING resource for all students. It is a fun interactive way to present information as well as for students to create presentations as well! #moedchat
A1: Tech has made SPED more efficient for teachers and effective for students. It’s important for districts to arm SPED departments with the appropriate tech #MOEdChat
A4 - We have tech Ss working together w sped dept to make manipulatives and experiences for other Ss w 3D printers and virtual reality. Pretty sick! #moedchat
A4: I have seen some amazing progress made for ss when they are given access to an AAC device. @proloquo2go has been a game changer for many ss I've worked with in the past! #moedchat
A4: I was teaching text features crossing into science curriculum, I had Ss video the parts of a flower. My SPED S, created the best work of art in G-Drawings of the parts of a flower in a video screen capturing mode, and he layered really great music over it. #MOEdChat
A2 BOTH! We need to remind teachers that tech can be modified to fit the learning styles of many different students. Tech is another modality, but we still need good differentiation. #MOEdChat
A4 Whatever app it is that allows kids to communicate by selecting a picture is amazing. Kids that barely every spoke words can tell us what they want or need. It blows my mind every time I see it! #moedchat
I have a friend here who just got an ipad for her daughter for this. She was able to order her own meal at a restaurant. The server was very patient and kind with her. Brought tears to her mom's eyes. #moedchat Sorry for barging in.

A4- I recall using @ClassDojo to connect my Ss with their Ps within the classroom. Shared their progress on a lot more than behavior! Greatest moment was when P e-mailed me saying she just got done crying b/c she was so proud! #moedchat
A3&4 Assistive tech will always be my favorite use of tech in SPED. Using communication devices, we can literally give a voice to our nonverbal students. Through assistive tech, students are able to engage in school in ways we could only dream of #MOEdChat
A5: I use the BOSS app for observations-- it really helps me figure out what types of off-task behaviors are being displayed in the classroom so we can better support them through the right strategies/interventions. #moedchat
A4: I have seen SPED students really shine with coding and robotics. For some that logic side is really strong and they are able to be the leaders in this area and other kids are asking them questions! #moedchat
A5- There's a lot of great resources out there, but none more valuable then the SPED teachers within a building! So knowledgeable and helpful to reach all students! #moedchat
Love Screencastify! We have also been piloting @Seesaw which also allows students to explain thinking in pictures, captions, and voice recording. It's another great tool. #moedchat

A4 A KC area district was able to get a hands-free flute controlled by breath and head movement for a student who can’t use her hands. There are so many cool things out there for students with disabilities. #MOEdChat

A5 Missouri Assistive Techology (MO-AT) will loan devices to schools AND has grant money for students who need assistive devices. MAKE SURE YOUR SPED PEOPLE KNOW ABOUT THEM! https://t.co/KngVA7J2AX#MOEdChat
Absolutely, to see a kid that can only grunt and smile use this to say that he is hungry or wants a break is the most amazing thing I have ever seen, it blows my mind every single time! #moedchat
