#TOSAChat is a chat on Twitter every Monday night at 8pm PST for TOSAs (teachers on special assignment), including all edtech and instructional coaches.
Hi, all! Kristin here - Tech TOSA from SoCal. My favorite fiction is book (series) is Harry Potter (duh). I'm also a fan of the "Darkest Mind" series...and basically any other YA dystopian novel. #tosachat
Doing a happy dance because I made time for #tosachat ... for at least a little while. Kimberly, Instructional Coach K-12 Maui, Hawaii. Favorite Book -so, so many but To Kill A Mockingbird is hard to top.
Heeeeyyy, #tosachat! It's Jody! I'm an academic coach in Ed Tech, and my favorite fiction book is the whole series of Harry Potter! In June of 2018, I threw my kids a Harry Potter-themed B'nai Mitzvah party and it was EPIC!!
A1: I love Google Slides. More specifically I love sharing the cropping/masking feature. Take an image chose a shape and your image can fit inside that shape. #tosachat
Ursula here from Palm Springs Unified in CA. Hard to choose a fav fiction book, but prob Phantom by Susan Kay (I've read it the most # of times) #tosachat
A1: I love showing people how to quickly change the theme of their slide deck in #GoogleSlides. If you have two themes in one slidedeck, you can have them all take the same theme. Works well with @SlidesCarnival#tosachat
A1 I don't have a video, but recently learned about the iPad app #jamboard, specifically the ability to insert a Slides presentation and pull out individual slides to write on. Doesn't work in web version. #tosachat

A1: I love using @GoogleForEdu Keep integrated to Slides or Docs. Motivates young students to write and helps visualize thinking in mathematics & science. #tosachat
A1b: Bonus tip! @GoogleForEdu has been consistently sharing amazing things that teachers are doing with Google. Document gets updated pretty regularly. #TOSAchathttps://t.co/WoGRWCMvme
A1: My favorite Google trick? I'm a big fan of Google Keep - I use the color-code option to categorize all of my different notes...I'm a very visual learner. Such an easy way to take notes, jot ideas down for a new blog post, or collaborate with my teacher friends. #tosachat
A1: Screencast video tutorials and embed the video into slides to instantly clone yourself for professional learning! https://t.co/vedHr1TUvD
Down the Rabbit Hole: Personalized PD | EdTech | United States ...
#tosachat
A1 The @MicrosoftEDU Learning Tools are a pretty awesome way to make sure all Ss have access to curriculum and can see themselves as learners. #TOSAChat
A1: I love sharing the Explore tool in Docs, Slides, and Sheets. It makes it so simple to add images that are copyright-friendly and already hyperlinked! #tosachat
A1 Google Slides is magic. I have a presentation full of awesome ways to use it. Tons of videos and gifs. Check it out. #TOSAChathttps://t.co/0m7gqfwyuB
A1: I use @GoogleForEdu calendar and share it with my students and parents. That way I add all my important dates and homework for all to see. Forgot to write in their agenda? No Problem! Just look on your phone. #TOSAchat
i love how keep syncs over any device though! I have a tab for my keep notes open in my browser when i turn on my work computer. So helpful to keep it all aligned. #tosachat

A1 I have been using the heck out of google keep! I went to a session by @TeachingTechNix and she showed me the awesome, and I haven't looked back! #tosachat
A2: I love the idea of students publishing e-portfolios. I recommend Google sites to my teachers because it is the most convenient but I love Wix and Weebly too. Here is my latest post https://t.co/THzGpEImrr#TOSAchat#LocoLearner
Yes! I'm on multiple devices at work all day - definitely helps when you're working across 3 devices but want to make sure everything is current and I didn't already make a list for that. 😂 #tosachat

@kmartintahoe, @JazmineLFrias, @lifeismaikai
we use slides for our show notes, and it is super easy to set the master and have a good template! Slides is so much more than just presenting! #tosachat
In Bellingham, @OneNoteEDU at the secondary level and @Seesaw at elementary are widely in use. It's not just production of work but reflecting on that production that we hope really impacts Ss. #TOSAChat
A2: I love to show teachers and students @GoogleForEdu sites, for ease of use and integration across GSuite apps. I've even used sites with 2nd graders as seen in the second picture. #TOSAchat
A2: Last year when I had my own #SPED classroom, we used @ClassDojo for sharing on our class stream & portfolios. I also started tinkering with @Seesaw. This year, I like to share digital newsletters via Google Slides with the Ts I work with. I'm also working on Sites. #tosachat
A2: podcasting and anchor. Or flipgrid. It can be awesome to get updates from your student in their own voice! And students practice and are really engaged when they know their work is going to be published. #tosachat
When I used it at a parent presentation, a parent said the Chinese translation was more accurate than Google. Heard similar response from another coach who said the Arabic is more accurate, too. Not perfect, but appreciated by many. #tosachat
Laura from Madera, CA. Love Harry Potter (of course). A1: I love embedding Polls into Google Slides with the Poll Everywhere add-on. It’s so interactive and easy to use. #tosachat
Slides as a yearbook is the mose economical way for our district. Most schools do it so the cost allows most kids a chance to get a yearbook. #TOSAChat@tosachat

A2: A recent favorite is @sway for publishing and sharing work. Ss can add text, links, images, documents and record their own audio as well. Easy to share via web link or QR code #TOSAchat
A2: I'm with most everyone else here. Sites is a great place for publishing student work and it's a piece of cake if you are a Google district. #tosachat
we train an @sway (as we are an O365 district) and our teachers and students love it. It has been our most popular training once one teacher at a school starts using it, they all want to! #tosachat
A3: I mentioned Google Slides earlier so I won't repeat. @AdobeSpark has burrowed its way into my heart. It is really simple to use but still make beautiful images and videos. #TOSAchat
A3: I love Google Slides and I definitely tell Ts to utilize the @PearDeck add-on...simply a must if you want presentations more interactive. I've also experimented with Nearpod...but still really like @PearDeck. #sharethepear#tosachat
A3: I 99% opt for Google Slides, but I did create this "roll a lesson" to encourage Ts to try something new when it comes to the basic parts of a lesson. https://t.co/eopfsXgUia#TOSAchat
Check out this use of Sway! https://t.co/gzHLQcwg1F Type in a topic and it builds an outline for you. Great way to help Ss get started on a presentation. I use Disneyland when I demo it. #tosachat#MIEExpert#MIETrainer
I love the @AdobeSpark products! They are intuitive for students and produce such stunning results. Keynote has worked its way back into my regular rotation, and I'll always love slides! #tosachat
A3 being a @MicrosoftEDU district, I love training on @sway and teachers and students love using it. It is easy and versatile. The students can have the exact same facts and images (working in groups) yet have radically different presentations! #gamechanger#tosachat
Here you go: https://t.co/JkgRKEQvaR Definitely modeled it after a fellow educator's who I had seen a few years ago...I tried not to make it too overwhelming for my Ts, though. #tosachat

A1: I’ve really enjoyed using Tab Resize lately when writing my notes during observations while looking at the CSTPs. I used to use Tab Scissors and Tab Glue but Tab Resize is way better. #tosachat

A3: I show teachers the power of @GoogleForEdu slides to create personalized presentations students can view at their own pace and respond directly on slides sent via classroom "make copy for each student". This is student focused rather than teacher focused. #tosachat
We definitely tried! Parents absolutely LOVED seeing what was going on in the classroom...especially on those days when they couldn't make it in due to work obligations. We wanted to make sure everyone was included. :) #tosachat

TOSA for @LGSUHSD joining late... A1: I’m all about the integration of Google Keep, tasks, and calendar in Gmail. Going to share this and other videos with teachers this week to get them to improve their productivity and efficiency #Tosachathttps://t.co/wybdlAbv6E
A3: It really depends what their purpose is; we love using Google Slides (of course), but also love @prezi for its sleek look and streamline approach. #TOSAChat
A3: Slides! Slides! and more Slides! It's so versatile and easy to use! With add-ons like @PearDeck and photoslideshow, there are even more possibilities! #tosachat
A3 This isn't typical presentation tool but @screencasto is AMAZING for screencasts and differentiation. The built in editor just keeps getting better. #TOSAChat
A3: Soapbox time. When presenting, the tool is always a compliment to what you say. Remember that the content comes from your mouth and the slides or whatever it is only supports your words. If you end up just reading the slides, you mind as well not be there. #tosachat

A3: I am really excited recently by @AdobeSpark and @sway - both make it easy for Ss to use creative commons images and help focus on content and not format #TOSAchat
I also love how challenging it is for many students. They can do the work but explaining it clearly and with good vocabulary really ups the cognitive load. #TOSAChat
Students love the engagement of @nearpod Easy to put together a slidedeck and love how I can get data from each individual student along the way. #TOSAchat

A4: @Screencastify has been a favorite for a hot minute. This is great for creating flipped lessons to share with your class and works wonders when you ask students to show their learning with this tool too. Happy creating! #TOSAchat
A3: I’d turn the question back on them. What’s your presentation style or what do you want your students to show you that they haven’t been able to this far? There’s so many options, it’s really about one’s goals or purpose and then we can match based on that. #TOSAChat
This one's old, but I love ColorPick Eyedropper. It allows me to get hex codes for any color on the Web and color match in presentations. https://t.co/T0E5zTJwKW#tosachat
A4 I love my extensions, Craftytext (big text overlay on screen) Colorpicker (hexadecimal colors)and Whatfont (tells what font), QuickCreate for drive (creates anything from drive in 1 click) Clip to OneNote, AdBlockerPlus, and LastPass password keeper, and Timer #tosachat
A4: Awesome Screenshot (always nabbing images to help Ts with explanations via e-mail), Bitmoji, Grammarly, and Eye Dropper (designing flyers and slides; need the colors from my chosen images). #TOSAChat
A4: So many great ones! Love @tabcloudit for saving my sessions. Save to Drive for Google makes my life easier. Always on board for easy access to my @Bitmoji and a gif with @GIPHY. #tosachat
i schedule emails that i know I need to send months from now but if I don't boomerang them, I'd totally forget. And also, so as not to overwhelm Ts w/ too many emails from me. #tosachat

Definitely a great way to empower Ss to share their learning, foster shared learning in the class culture, use EdTech tools, and support lots of standards! #tosachat
A5: I always recommend @WeVideo for our students and teachers because they work really well with Chromebooks. I personally have been trying to learn @AdobePremiere. I am still a baby wizard when it comes to video editing. #tosachat
A4 I love curating resources with tabs using the @wakelet extension.
LOVE LOVE LOVE @Screencastify too!
OneTab and Eye Dropper color picker are fantastic too. #tosachat

MS Movie Maker is my fave. I have a few copies of Creative Suite. A bit excessive. I used some fre one last summer. iMovie on iPhone is really useful. #tosachat
A5: I have my teenage son do post-production on my videos using Adobe Premiere 😎 Great to have an Adobe certified individual in the house! I haven't taken time to learn it and video editing takes a great amount of memory. He has a killer PC, more powerful than I need. #tosachat
A5 I usually have to create screencasts...and I use screencastify. I do need to up my video making game....especially since my son is a TV/Film major LOL. #TOSAchat
Steve Jobs was a master at his presentations. Here’s the iPhone launch in 2007. Content comes from his mouth. Slides only had single images or few text. Presentations are really methods of story telling. https://t.co/1vd0hkz4fl#tosachat

Depends on the device I'm using and the purpose of the video. On my phone, I'm really into Apple Clips and iMovie. iPad is mostly iMovie, Spark Video and @DoInkTweets Green Screen, and on my Mac I'll use Camtasia for screencasts and iMovie or Spark for narrative videos #tosachat
A5, I love iMovie or FinalCut depending on the project. Barrier is that they are for Mac, and freakin' expensive (both device and program) but it's what I know. and they work with my goto camera, my iPhone. #tosachat
A5 @AdobeSpark video is awesome! Was really hard to get the edu version set up for our kids
Love @Screencastify and use it for any screencastify or GIFs. The premium features are totally worth the money. #tosachat

I do too! I was filling out an application last night and it wouldn't let me type. I figured it was the Grammarly app and once I turned the extension off, was able to type without any further problems. Maybe it's an isolated issue? #tosachat
A5: I also really like @Camtasia (the barrier being the cost, but worth it) and @Screencastify (especially to create tutorial gifs with paid version) #tosachat
A5: @Flipgrid is a great and easy tool for quick videos with Ss. @WeVideo works well with Cbooks and has 2 dif lvl options for editing, making it a little easier on those with less editing practice. @Screencastify is fantastic for making tutorials and presentations. #tosachat
A5: Camtasia is my go to for video making. I’ve been using it for a long time. I like that you can make real basic videos or do lots of editing. The biggest barrier is cost. It’s well worth it if you’re going to make many videos. Recently learned it can make gifs too #TOSAChat
A5: I recently have been using ShareX for making videos. Nothing spellbinding, but effective. I still do not understand all the tools on it yet, but I enjoy the autoupload to Drive and Dropbox. #TOSAchat
I've wondered if Ss would read or write more if they could use their own personal font. The #secretcode options are fun, but so many possibilities! #tosachat
