A1: I liken teaching to ministry, to me it is a calling. You feel the passion, the call to be a teacher. There is something about being led to do this work! #MEMSPAchat
A1: As educators, I truly believe we have one of the most difficult, yet most rewarding careers out there, and people know it. This work definitely is not for the faint of heart and takes someone with a lot of heart, passion, and dedication to do what we do every day. #MEMSPAchat
A1: I was struggling with the idea of the term “gift” & really connect with the term “calling.” It’s hard to fit a calling under the Christmas tree though! #MEMSPAchat
Q2: Three characteristics will be shared: First, one GIFT of being a leader, especially in a school setting, should be CONFIDENCE. Why does a leader need to posses this? #MEMSPAchat
A1: Maya Angelou said “At the end of the day people won't remember what you said or did, they will remember how you made them feel.” Great educators build connections with students and capacity in them that inspires them to love learning. #MEMSPAchat
Q2: Three characteristics will be shared: First, one GIFT of being a leader, especially in a school setting, should be CONFIDENCE. Why does a leader need to posses this? #MEMSPAchat

A2: I think it's so that those we lead have reassurance in both the direction & support coming from the leader. It's easier for a staff to find strength if the leader has enough to share. However, we are human & everyone has weaknesses. Honesty is even more important. #MEMSPAchat
A2: The opposite of confidence is doubt. You need to have the courage as a leader to confidently lead with vision, anchored on your values and beliefs with some humility thrown in to ensure your confidence doesn't become cockiness. #MEMSPAchat
A2: Confidence/thick skinned - we need to be able to handle the punches and still stand up for our beliefs. Confidence is a must, but must also include grace and understanding. Otherwise we could become arrogant. #MEMSPAchat
A2: Impactful leadership requires a compelling vision accompanied with a inspiring mission. Confidence is needed to effectively communicate both in a way that attracts staff & students to personally invest in the school! #MEMSPAchat
Q2: Three characteristics will be shared: First, one GIFT of being a leader, especially in a school setting, should be CONFIDENCE. Why does a leader need to posses this? #MEMSPAchat
A1) It takes a well rounded person to have just enough of everything to be in education; vulnerability, transparency, knowledge, craftsmanship, efficacy, flexibility, heart, passion, wisdom, wisdom, humility, dedication, innovator, leader, learner, all are gifts #MEMSPAchat
A2: Confidence is contagious, if you show that you are confident in yourselves, staff and students we will all belief anything is possible and will conquer the world. #MEMSPAchat
A2) . When I think of this question I think of the duck...cool, calm, and collected above the surface and paddling like crazy below. We lead to do what's best...no matter what it takes...sometimes confidence comes in the middle of risk taking. #memspachat
Hey everyone on #MEMSPAchat
YOU can win this Social Emotional Learning book & two stuffed characters by participating in the chat (8-9pm)!

A2: Even in the most difficult situations you need to have faith and confidence in your own leadership so others can be willing follow you. #MEMSPAchat
IMPORTANT: Hey #MEMSPAchat take like 3 minutes NOW & call your State Rep and urge them to oppose HB 4991!

#memspachat Confidence is one of the 3 key factors for finding one’s flow... when you reach a heighten level of focus and time seems to be lost. A principal in flow... ever have a day seem like it flew by? You were in flow.
Q2: Three characteristics will be shared: First, one GIFT of being a leader, especially in a school setting, should be CONFIDENCE. Why does a leader need to posses this? #MEMSPAchat
A1: I think a leader must posses confidence due to the sheer volume of decisions made daily, but also be CONFIDENT enough to know that asking questions or asking for help isn’t a weakness... #MEMSPAchat
Q2: Three characteristics will be shared: First, one GIFT of being a leader, especially in a school setting, should be CONFIDENCE. Why does a leader need to posses this? #MEMSPAchat
A1: Leaders who exhibit confidence create a climate of safety and trust for those they serve. This environment helps students and staff feel comfortable to take risks, knowing that their endeavors will be supported. #MEMSPAchat
Q3: Another gift (2nd one discussed tonight) that school leaders need to posses is the art of INSPIRING people. Why is this an important characteristic to have? #MEMSPAchat
Q3: Another gift (2nd one discussed tonight) that school leaders need to posses is the art of INSPIRING people. Why is this an important characteristic to have? #MEMSPAchat
A2: Leaders who exhibit confidence create a climate of safety and trust for those they serve. This environment helps students and staff feel comfortable to take risks, knowing that their endeavors will be supported. #MEMSPAchat
A2: Confident, not arrogant...confident, not demeaning, confident and supportive. Confident in knowing your decisions are student centered. #MEMSPAchat
A3: This is my "WHY" in Education. To inspire teachers to be the best they can be & to inspire students to believe they can accomplish any goal they set mind to and work for! #MEMSPAchat
A3: I love this! My #whyIlead statement is to "inspire myself and others to be the best versions of ourselves." This is how we (and the world) gets better. It's not only a gift to others; it's the best gift to self when you inspire others. #MEMSPAchat
A3: Inspiration is contagious. Word spreads uickly through a building. Both the positive and negative. We need to find a way to encourage, inspire and move people toward the vision of continuous improvement and growth. #MEMSPAchat
A3: It’s a long, long road to the end of the year. Hard to be at your best day in, day out for kids who need you to be at your best day in, day out. Having someone to inspire you, to believe in you is invaluable. #MEMSPAchat
A3: As leaders, we must inspire our students and staff to reach their full potential by modeling and encouraging them to explore their strengths and passions. Building capacity in our team is imperative to its success. #MEMSPAchat
Q3: Another gift (2nd one discussed tonight) that school leaders need to posses is the art of INSPIRING people. Why is this an important characteristic to have? #MEMSPAchat

Q2: Three characteristics will be shared: First, one GIFT of being a leader, especially in a school setting, should be CONFIDENCE. Why does a leader need to posses this? #MEMSPAchat
A2) CONFIDENCE - if you whole heartedly do not believe in yourself then who is going to follow you? Who’s going to walk through fire, slay the dragon & and take up arms with you?#MEMSPAchat
A3: Inspire...ignite....instill......we should strive for a culture of growth. Students and staff want to be in a safe loving caring environment. This culture promotes unlimited success. #memspachat
A3: We need to inspire others to be better. A great coach gets the most out of his/her players. We need to get them to believe in our "why" so that we can operate as one. A team that works together can accomplish more than an individual. #MEMSPAchat
A3: Inspiration motivates us all to push ourselves beyond complacency to our greater potentials. Without inspiring leaders, people in an organization stagnate. #MEMSPAchat
A3: Leaders need to coordinate the efforts of everyone and inspire belief in the same vision. They need to build a team that works together to steer the ship in one direction. That takes inspiration and trust. #MEMSPAchat
A3: When you inspire great things can happen. Others feel confident in taking risks and trying new things know they have the support of those above them. #MEMSPAchat

A3) inspiration is what drives us to action! It leads to innovation. Everyone needs to be inspired whether it’s internally or by someone else. I fully believe that our thoughts are the synthesis of someone else’s thoughts. #MEMSPAchat
A4: That's a tough, complex one. I think the gift is being able to have an understanding of all view points and perspective and then executing what's best for the students. #MEMSPAchat
Totally agree. While it's all too common in bureaucracies big and small, the real test of leadership comes when you're going against the grain—choosing what's right over what's expedient. #MEMSPAchat
I've got to bow out early tonight! Wishing you all the happiest of holidays and hoping you all have time alone, time with friends, and time with family! #MEMSPAchat
