#TOSAChat is a chat on Twitter every Monday night at 8pm PST for TOSAs (teachers on special assignment), including all edtech and instructional coaches.
I'm excited to present "Empowering Students - Student Tech Leadership in Elementary" at IACUE Tech Fair 2018. Come learn about creating an Elem Student Leadership Team https://t.co/qmvMFGLHta@iacue#iacue#caedchat#TOSAchat
A1: For me it's a toss up between FormMule and AutoCrat. The former is light and fast and easy to get going...the latter is a digital secretary that does sooooo much. #TOSAChat
Automate adding text from a sheet to a Google Doc or Slides. Imagine giving each student a single page of all their logins with icons for each site maintained on a Google Sheet. #Tosachat
I've used Autocrat for making door signs, and for making awards/certificates. It takes data off of a spreadsheet and plugs it into templates. #tosachat
A1 I had lost interest in add-ons since they often conflicted with each other making browser problems worse, but someone shared Extensity with me and I'm starting again, it makes it easy to turn on and off extensions #TOSAChat
A2 I really like the versatility that has become Autocrat. There are other add-ons that may do specific things better, but Autocrat has many automated functions to help any classroom, admin, etc #TOSAchat
A2) Okay @EdTechAri I couldn't live without Screencastify. You got me started on screencasting back at an @edtechteam summit in Pomona a couple of years back. #TOSAchat
Flippity IS another good one, used it to pick a winner for a social media contest, IFTTT grabbed tweets with a hashtag, put in a Google sheet, flippity made spinner and chose random winners #Tosachat
A3: I have all the students in the Two Way Immersion program install Easy Accent for docs so it's easier for them them to insert accents and tildes. SUPER helpful! Easier than managing multiple keyboard options. #TOSAchat
A3a: not sure if i'd call it a game changer but if you want Ss creating quizzes, doc to form will create a form from questions in a doc. Pretty cool. #TOSAchat
Q2: I know I am harping on the spiltscreen again from Alice Keeler but I have seen 9th graders get upset over panning back from one to another. It just makes life easier in the classroom. #TOSAchat

A3: There is an amazing docs add-on called Highlight Tool that make text annotation and summarizing easy and specific for Both Ss and Ts. I had two good tutorials on it. Here' the basic one. https://t.co/I4sRXdp9pr#TOSAChat
A3 Any screenshot/video recording add-on is a plus for students. Numbus screenshot and video recording is great for on the fly recording or planned out presos! #TOSAchat
A2: I don't have the usage stats, but I think I use ChangeCase the most often. I'm lazy to write the formula to change a case, and too many people don't use proper capitalization. #TOSAchat#petpeeve
A3: (part 2) Docutube is also a game changer - it lets students watch video in #GoogleDocs in 2 ways, 1 of which lets them take concurrent notes in the doc...& it can help eliminate distractions. My tutorial is linked here. #TOSAchat Google Docs Add-On https://t.co/GUBqpL5N3O

Q3: Any Google App is great. Google Keep was the game changer in my classroom. Once the kids figured out that paper notes could be a thing of the past. Although, I did make them copy and paste the notes in Google Docs to print out. LOL! #TOSAchat

LOL this took me a while too. I was confused for the longest time and don't use a lot of add-ons either. Hoping this chat helps us find more good ones =) #TOSAchat
A4 Flubaroo or any assessment driven add-on that can be used to provide speedy feedback, improve learning and be formative is a win for teachers and students. #TOSAchat
A4: I think there is a really good scoring add-on call JoeZoo Express which has so much for grading and scoring and student feedback. I worked with the developer in my last district. We were ready to push it out to teachers and student when I left. #TOSAchat
A4: I am only using this one because I got it for free but I like the Read and Write from Texthelp. It makes grading papers easier with highlighting etc. I will look at the highlight tool for the kids that was posted by Josh. #TOSAchat

For the #TOSAChat folks that like #Flubaroo check out Joe Zoo Express and GooBric (technically an extension, I know) for grading, scoring & assessing when it's not a Form, but you need it for Docs and/or Slides.
A5: I am not sure I'd install an add-on that hadn't made it through the vetting process without having communicated with the developer. I have only done it once. Bu that's definitely a #DigCit cautions situation..unless I misunderstood the Q. #TOSAChat
I love power tools, I use it when I export S usernames and passwords, the usernames come with capital letters in the downloaded sheet, but none actually have capitals, easy to make a whole column lowercase, hundreds of rows of data in a second #Tosachat
A4: Oh, my best friend is Doc Builder. I have these favorite snippets that exist everywhere on my Google Drive and I can just insert it in a new doc/cheat sheet easily. #TOSAchat

A great video series on differentiate learning using Google in the classroom! Avra and Rosey will be presenting on this and more in Palm Springs! https://t.co/JoXCXiPSIwhttps://t.co/ZGkkFWylvC
A5: Wait, there is another place besides Google or the Chrome Store? I usually go to the Google Universe. I can't wait to see answers from everyone. #TOSAchat

Ooooooh. Okay.
Well, again it may be because I worked with a developer that I knew you could install them from other places.
Maybe itโs me not you. ๐ #TOSAchat
Not really. Sometimes developers will put up links before the vetting process is done, because that process can take a while...but like I said, you need to be cautious with that. The vetting exists for a reason. #TrustTheGoogle#TOSAchat

No worries,I thought for a second we were traveling into the Microsoft Universe. Then, I was like well I don't know everything and perhaps there was another place to go for goodies. I would say here on Twitter and in chats for recommendations. Josh has thrown out a few. #TOSAchat

A6: Skype for Web (ok google, don't kill me), but I waited a looong time for MS to finally make Skype completely web based and Chromebook-enabled. #TOSAchat
A6) My favorite extension after Screenscastify (see previous 182 tweets) is Tab Glue. I'm an inveterate window opener, & I love Tab Glue to wrangle them into submission. I also love Tweedeeck Launcher, OneTab, #MAKA (Make America Kittens Again), and Share to Classroom. #TOSAchat
A6 discovered TLDR extension. When an article is too long, you use the extension and get varying length summaries depending on how thorough you want it. #TOSAChat
A6: My 3 fave Chrome extensions are:
1-SimpleExtManager, so I can turn Extension & Chrome app on & off
2 -AdBlockPlus / AdBlock for Youtube
3 -Screencastify - which is so simple & effective.
My Rookie of the Year goes to Sir-Links-A-Lot which @TechCoachSusan showed me #TOSAChat
A6 played around w Insert Learning and really liked it. It takes a webpage and allows you to highlight, insert videos, questions, or comments. I think you are limited to only 5 uses per month on the free version though. #TOSAChat
