Hello, #TECHtalkGA! I'm Angela, Dist ITS for MS/HS in Forsyth Co, and newly will return to teach French 1 next year in our online academy!
My dist has CO leadership w/a CTIO, Dir, Coord, K-5 ITS, 6-12 ITS + an ITS in each building. All that plus a tech services department!
A1: hi 👋
I am Cori from Gwinnett, HS math teacher. We have local technology specialists in each building and district specialists for our LMS
#TECHtalkGA
A1: Hi everyone! Martha Bongiorno, library media specialist. We have a library media specialist and educational technology specialist at each school. At the district level, we have two 'heads' of technology. One over media and one over educational tech. #TECHtalkGA
Hi! I’ve been an English teacher since 1995 but have skewed more to ed tech & ID over the years. Work at Emory as a Director of Online Learning. I know, not K-12, but you guys are awesome! I always learn. Higher Edtech leadership is emerging #TECHtalkGA
A1 (2/2) Many of our leaders, admins, and teachers are comfortable using and trying new #edtech tools after learning on @twitter, @edcamprome, or @fcsclassic.
#fcsdot has a great crew to spearhead edtech in our schools and remove barriers for our stakeholders.
#techtalkga
Hey @alienearbud, I think you're an hour early for #ALedchat. It's only 9pm here in GA. You could join #techtalkga though! They are talking leadership right now! #forsythpln
A2: I attend tech conferences to bring back ideas and concepts to my building, my peers in my position and of course through my Twitter #PLN#TECHtalkGA#gwinchat
#TECHtalkGA A2: I'm "officially" leadership by being part of the district support staff. But I try to earn the title by spreading my passion to other schools, by helping Ts when & where they need, & by asking 1st about their goals/problems before trying to find "the right" tech.
A2: I am usually the first person in my building to try something, learn, and model new technology. I also do a large part of our professional development in regards to technology with our Bagels, Books, & Bytes. Twitter is a huge part as well!
#TECHtalkGA
A2: we have what we call lead innovators in each school who periodically throughout the year to learn more about our LMS and innovative teaching. We can share with others at our school
#TECHTalkGA
Good evening y'all. Leslie Hazle Bussey from GLISI. I'm lurking here tonight to learn more. We are thinking and experimenting alot with integrating tech more into experiences that grow leaders and deepen learning/transformation. #TECHtalkGA
A2: I attend tech conferences to bring back ideas and concepts to my building, my peers in my position and of course through my Twitter #PLN#TECHtalkGA#gwinchat
A2: My role is as the “lead” #edtech leader, essentially.
I’m grateful for the opportunity to show that instructional technology is MORE than instructional technology! It’s innovation, coaching, ROI, program evaluation, instructional best practices, and curriculum! #TECHtalkGA
#techtalkga A2: I'm not seen as a tech leader in my district, but in talking about teaching, I inevitably discuss things like Twitter, Google Forms, etc... By talking the language I help perpetuate a positive tech influence.
A2 I'm the lead #edtech learner in my district. There's a lot of tools that can help our Ts and Ss, and it's important to filter through them to find what's effective.
Edtech isn't just technology now. It touches every department and individual.
#techtalkga
Good gracious! That’s rather 😳.
And there are still smaller institutions both K12 and HigherEd without any instructional designers or instructional technology folks. Scary to consider this day and age! #TECHtalkGA
Welcome! We're so happy to have you join us for #TECHtalkGA!
As part of #forsythpln, I can tell you that I have learned a LOT about GLISI but am always happy to learn more!
A3: TIME!!! I have so many ideas and projects I'd love to implement that I just don't have enough time in the day to get it all done! LOL #TECHtalkGA#gwinchat
A3: Honestly, taking a step back and realizing embedding technology (authentically) can be hard for other teachers. I can be overzealous at times and that can be overwhelming or intimidating for tech beginners. #TECHtalkGA
.@bamaguy1218 is humble. He uses #edtech everyday as our districts science coach. Proud of his growth over the last few years and his drive to constantly adapt/learn!
#techtalkga
#techtalkga A2: I'm not seen as a tech leader in my district, but in talking about teaching, I inevitably discuss things like Twitter, Google Forms, etc... By talking the language I help perpetuate a positive tech influence.
A3: I struggle with pacing sometimes. It's all good stuff but I need to realize that sometimes we drink from the fire hydrant of technology of both good and bad #techtalkga
A2: I try to work via planning days, through the instructional coaches/media specialists who know which units are coming up and when requested for a specific tool. #techtalkga
That is DEFINITELY serving as an #edtech leader! Leaders don't have to have to official titles! It's more about what you do than what you're called!
Don't let the "lack" of a title keep you from leading!
#TECHtalkGA
Whitfield County schools, 1 instructional tech coordinator, 1 instructional tech specialist and media liaison (me), a few media specialists with instructional tech degrees.
A3
#1 struggle = time
I want to be everywhere and make my district the best it can be. Prioritizing, triage, and sticking to a predefined set of expectations keeps me focused.
#techtalkga
A3: #techtalkga There are too many cool tech things for me to digest. I must resist spreading my technology base too thin. Focusing on one or two things at a time is longer lasting than following every cute idea.
Don't stress over this! When you step out of your comfort zone, it sometimes makes others uncomfortable! Keep your head up! Keep going and they'll soften their mindset!! :-) #TECHtalkGA#gwinchat
A3: I’m new this year, so I am struggling with getting into all schools to build relationships...it’s easier once I’ve been to a school a time or two... #TECHtalkGA
A3: Clarity of communication, particularly to every single faculty member in the district. I want them to know readily and clearly why we do the things we do! The gap between CO and classroom teacher is still perceived as too wide. I want to bridge that gap. #TECHTalkGA
I struggle with the time commitment some faculty will need to make to learn something new. And struggle with helping them imagine the impact. e.g. as simple as using assignment submission forum in LMS- it saves them so much time & is quick learning curve, yet... #TECHtalkGa
Also have to chime in that you might even be more effective because your focus is on TEACHING. Ts might be leery of tech but I love how tech can be a trojan horse for great teaching - something every T can embrace. #TECHtalkGA
Dear amazing @bamaguy1218, you ARE and SHOULD BE VIEWED as a tech leader! (I have witnessed your tech leader-ness, as well, and it is PHENOMENAL!)
Tech leadership should be imbued in our content/instruction leaders. In 2018, it all goes hand in hand! #TECHTalkGA
#techtalkga A2: I'm not seen as a tech leader in my district, but in talking about teaching, I inevitably discuss things like Twitter, Google Forms, etc... By talking the language I help perpetuate a positive tech influence.
For sure, that is a struggle, but I think that then it becomes more about the relationships than the tech. When you build the right relationships, they know you're sharing to help THEM, not to help YOU!
#TECHtalkGA
A4: Ts need an opportunity to have time to Learn and try out and fail. When you do that you grow confidence and when you have confidence you can show others. When you show others you are a leader. #techtalkga
A4: I encourage others to become leaders by taking part in #EdCamps & conferences. I also encourage them to share w/in their buildings
#Elevate&Celebrate
#TECHtalkGA
A4: I encourage them to use their knowledge and skills to help others. We’re not in competition! Also, I’ve helped neighboring educators who don’t have instructional techs..I’m often meeting folk for coffee and collaboration #TECHTalkGA
@ClintWinter and I, along with our CCSD crew made this back in the day. Hasn't been updated, but it's on my project list for next year! Let me know what you think. https://t.co/p1IAUUQgUt#techtalkga

Glad to have you join us! Was it with pizza? Or pie? Or something less fun, LOL?
That's the extent of my fractions education knowledge, yes...
French T, not a math T!
#TECHtalkGA
Often emerging leaders don't see themselves as leaders or are uncomfortable stepping out in front of others. A thoughtful, well-timed and authentic compliment about how you were moved by their example or innovation can begin to change their self-concept. #TECHtalkGA
A4: @CaptPepo organized our PD this year to be kind of an in house @edcampGA with teachers selected to lead sessions on topics that they are passionate about #TECHtalkGa I think you get more but in when the faculty lead sessions.
A4: I try to highlight technology infused lessons by individuals in the building, hoping that others close by them will ask them for help. I've also encouraged joining Twitter chats and attending tech conferences @mrschz has been doing great with this! :-) #TECHtalkGA#gwinchat
A4: I don't know how others do it...I was "molded" by @CatFlippen who believed in me, encouraged me, prodded me, and flat out made me when I didn't think I could or should. So I take my lead from her, whether that's right or wrong, LOL!
#TECHtalkGA
A5
I'd like to see a gathering of the #edtech Georgia leadership minds. We need to collaborate more to learn from each other.
We don't need the click here, click there stuff. We need to see practical application, share resources, and build a tighter network.
#techtalkga
A4: This is my personal “Lamp, Lifeboat, Ladder” core belief of #leadership#edleadership:
Be a lamp: Light up the accomplishments of others
Be a lifeboat: Lend unconditional service to others
Be a ladder: Lift the talents and passions of others
#TECHTalkGA
A5: Agreed with @iamryanwhite I've really enjoyed leaning and supporting others in my new roll. Would love to have the meeting of the minds. #techtalkga
#techtalkga A5: Snacks. I'd like to see snacks from our tech team.
Seriously, the continued marriage of technology with good teaching. Tech isn't just the cool stuff. It's a way Ts and Ss can fly. #allabouttheteaching
I'm ALL ABOUT empowering the people around me! That's why I won't touch the computer when I'm tryin to get Ts and Ss to do something with our LMS #TECHtalkGA#gwinchat
A5: I’d like to see us do a specialized session for leaders: CO, admins, etc. They need training and collaboration time too. I’d love to see us working with curriculum directors and instructional coaches more as well and to have all our media spec involved. #TECHTalkGA
A4: Probably the most important thing a leader can do is build other leaders. I encourage people to pursue their passions. This is the quickest way to influence. #techtalkga
Ooooh. There could be some interesting ground to till here. I know an organization that lives and breathes leadership development and growing learning communities. We just need to sprinkle a serving of tech in there, convene somewhere, and watch the magic happen. #TECHtalkGA
Great chat tonight, #TECHtalkGA! Thanks to everyone who participated!
If you’ve been reading along and lurking, consider joining in next time!
See you next week!
Awesome Tables are my favorite. But also have had some #lessonslearned with dealing with the folks there. Some of our tables got too popular and they shut us down! #TECHtalkGA
A5: I personally need more experience writing grants. With a small district- money is such an obstacle. Some of the grants we could get are too intimidating for me. I find great opportunities and then when it is time to get started - this is me. #TECHtalkGa
A5b: Continued networking opps, which we have once a month called #iShare. ALL the LSTCs chime in on a @GoogleForEdu Doc Topic. It's been great for all sorts of info! #TECHtalkGA#gwinchat
I am SO glad to have found "my person" and "my people."
My #TECHtalkGA crowd, created & brought to me by @CatFlippen is the stuff that dreams are made of! You keep me coming back week after week for more inspiration & guidance! Love you guys!
