    I write a lot of case studies and use names so as to make the people feel real. I mix genders and stereotypes all the time #bfc530

    In may class or in the halls I will use whichever preferred pronoun a student has asked for. It means a lot to them that we get that right. & it costs me nothing.Happy to identify them in a way that matches their identity. If I'm unsure of their preferred pronouns I ask! #bfc530

    In 6th grade, they are aware of gender pronouns, we discuss the use of gender neutral, esp if the group being referred to is mixed or gender is unknown, but as developing writers, we are still exploring use of the English language. Many don't know what a pronoun is yet! #bfc530

    I walk a lot around the fam but i find a walk a lot in the classroom. i try to get 2500 steps in before recess and another 2500 by lunch and then another 2500 by end of day. #bfc530

    I usually tell them at the beginning that guys is a unisex term to me ... same time I tell them that my bathrooms are for one person at a time and I don’t care which they use ... just don’t make a mess and if you do clean it up. #bfc530

    When I walk into my daughter's room, I'll say "Hey buddy" and they will either say "Im not a boy" or worse "Im not a dog" (because when our dog comes up to me when I come home I say "Hey buddy") #bfc530

      I usually tell them at the beginning that guys is a unisex term to me ... same time I tell them that my bathrooms are for one person at a time and I don’t care which they use ... just don’t make a mess and if you do clean it up. #bfc530

    Some of my Muslim Ss struggle using a classmates preferred pronoun. I'll gently correct them by saying the preferred one. They sometimes want to discuss why that student wants that but they've always asked quietly and privately. #bfc530

    Regardless of the gender terms we use ... the kids have to know they are in a safe place ... know they can be comfortable in their own skin while they are sitting in my classroom ... #bfc530

    With the population I work with, the culture is incredibly insensitive when it comes to gender identification. Where I will get my shots in, talking about acceptance and compassion, I am very careful to not ostricize someone through my own blunder.That said, I respect any #bfc530

    One's right to identify with whatever sex they wish and will call them whatever they would like. I tend to avoid pronouns and use names. Its more personable anyway. #bfc530
