  • AndersonEdTech Jul 3 @ 10:06 PM EDT

Do you think flexible seating would be something that would benefit your SpEd kids? #cuechat
    In reply to @AndersonEdTech
  • KVoge71 Jul 3 @ 10:11 PM EDT
A1 Since I am out of the classroom, so I try to model "defronting" the classroom, providing opportunities for choice, and most importantly, ensure safety ...like risk taking, vulnerability #CUEchat
  • AprilBuege - Moderator Jul 3 @ 10:11 PM EDT
Are you going to fund the redecoration or will your site support you, Judy? #cuechat
    In reply to @judyblakeney
  • SchleiderJustin Jul 3 @ 10:11 PM EDT
A1 flexible seating is still seating. It's more about how are we giving students the opportunity to move in class. are we doing walk and talks. Are we using the hallways, going outside, making the lesson a movement activity. allowing the ss to get up without asking etc #cuechat
  • AndersonEdTech Jul 3 @ 10:11 PM EDT
It really depends on their accommodations. Some students need the structure of an assigned seat but others may feel more empowered if given the choice of type and location of seat #cuechat
    In reply to @AprilBuege
  • AprilBuege - Moderator Jul 3 @ 10:12 PM EDT
I'm thinking of moving my classroom library area to the middle of the room, to force myself to defront. #cuechat

Q2: Do you provide Ss with the freedom to choose how to show what they know? Are you building independence within your Ss by allowing them to choose their own evidence of learning? #cuechat
  • dustin772 - Moderator Jul 3 @ 10:13 PM EDT
A1: I am headed back to the class this year. Already setting up #360class and working on flexible learning spaces and seating. Have a sweet unused patio outside. #cuechat
  • carr_8 Jul 3 @ 10:14 PM EDT
A1: Last year I gave my Ss choice in seating and some of their assignments. This year I had plans to allow Ss to pick what “standard” they wanted to learn, but this will still happen with previous grade-level. Now I get to assist them since I’ll be out of the classrm #CUEchat
  • AprilBuege - Moderator Jul 3 @ 10:14 PM EDT

  • judyblakeney Jul 3 @ 10:14 PM EDT
Mostly got rid of old things. I will take things that have been in my house from prior classroom and resurrect them. Also, one room was redone a year ago #WeAreCUE #cuechat
  • AndersonEdTech Jul 3 @ 10:15 PM EDT
A lot of teachers still stand in the front or at their desk, blows me away! Moving around clearly has its advantages on student learning, but how about for a teacher's mental and physical sanity? #cuechat
    In reply to @SchleiderJustin
  • carr_8 Jul 3 @ 10:15 PM EDT
It sure does benefit them! I had some that would need to sit on the yoga ball so they could bounce, sit away from others so they CPD focus. It just depended on the Ss and what they needed at that time. #cuechat
    In reply to @AprilBuege, @AndersonEdTech
  • AprilBuege - Moderator Jul 3 @ 10:15 PM EDT
Congrats Heidi on the position! You have inspired me to give my Ss more choice in choosing their math standards! #cuechat

  • dustin772 - Moderator Jul 3 @ 10:15 PM EDT

    In reply to @mstechie17
  • SchleiderJustin Jul 3 @ 10:16 PM EDT
A2 im in a non tested area. I allow them to choose what they want to learn. I then marry that to what the standards are that I need to cover. This happy negotiation is ongoing. #physed #healthed #cuechat

A2: Not so good at giving Ss choice on learning evidence. I'm getting better with #Hyperdocs and that is helping me. #cuechat
  • carr_8 Jul 3 @ 10:17 PM EDT
A2: I used @Seesaw for this and could have done a better job using this tool. I also used Slides and their creations, feedback and collaboration with each other was awesome. #CUEchat
  • AndersonEdTech Jul 3 @ 10:17 PM EDT
A2: I am becoming a very strong supporter of competency based learning, and allowing freedom in proving a student knows what they need to know is a large part of CBL, I am especially looking forward to incorporating these types of accommodations for SpEd Ss #cuechat

  • TechTomBUSD - Moderator Jul 3 @ 10:21 PM EDT
A2 ok on the right account. We have a whole slew of trainings available, and teaches can pick their trainings a-la-carte style. There is some level 0 trainings we do to make sure there is a base to work from, but when you choose what you learn you are already invested! #CUEchat

  • KVoge71 Jul 3 @ 10:24 PM EDT
A3 When delivering a training, I actually like it when the tech fails me in front of colleagues. I need them to see that it isn't perfect all the time and as the teacher, we don't need to be an expert at everything. We can't possibly know everything. #vulnerable #cuechat
