  • MrEvan__Stevens Nov 14 @ 7:50 PM EST
I would love to be able override website blocks with a teacher code or other way to establish that I was the one controlling my computer. Unfortunately, many arts websites are blocked as entertainment when I could use them for educational purposes. #ucpschat
    In reply to @ucpschat
  • lgaddy72 Nov 14 @ 7:50 PM EST
A3: We need more devices in the hands of our k-2 students. The resources are too good to not be able to use with all students at the same time. We would also love to have more STEM resources! Robotics, coding, etc. to engage our stud. and prepare them for future careers #UCPSChat

@ucpschat A3: More sharing of resources to help Ts and sts grow, so...We're building a digital library of Ts modeling best practices! #UCPSChat @Joey_Barker #BeTheBest
  • MrEvan__Stevens Nov 14 @ 7:52 PM EST
An example would websites that could feature guitar chords for my ukulele student, or teacher sponsored websites that analyze pop artists. I know that student may want to use these sites for entertainment, but that is why there would be a teacher code. #ucpschat
    In reply to @ucpschat
  • cllawren Nov 14 @ 7:52 PM EST
A3. That's easy, we need more devices for our PreK-2nd grade classrooms! #UCPSChat
    In reply to @ucpschat
  • RimmerEdTech Nov 14 @ 7:54 PM EST
Put in a helpdesk ticket with as many sites listed as possible. We can unblock those for sure. Our filter works on categories, and many are labeled "entertainment" We can set those sites to be approved! #ucpschat

    In reply to @ucpschat
  • mrs_kmontgomery Nov 14 @ 7:55 PM EST
A4: Students need a 50/50 ratio-although times are changing to more digital based learning, students still need the love of a book in their hands. #UCPSChat
    In reply to @ucpschat
  • MrEvan__Stevens Nov 14 @ 7:57 PM EST
That's really helpful. I'll get with my media specialist and computer specialist and I'll do that! #ucpschat
    In reply to @RimmerEdTech, @ucpschat
  • tara_todd01 Nov 14 @ 7:58 PM EST
A4: I'm also thinking 50/50. You just need to be able to seamlessly choose what makes sense for the purpose of the lesson. #ucpschat
  • GinaChisum1 Nov 14 @ 7:58 PM EST
.@ucpschat Q4: it depends! EmpowerED means differentiate based on sts needs. Disciplinary Literacy means sts can have the b st of both worlds with them in mind. #UCPSChat #AreUEmpowerED
  • AGHoulihan Nov 14 @ 7:58 PM EST
A4: Balance is key. Not sure there is a “correct ratio”. Personalized learning is all abt the T being the facilitator! Meet Ss where they are and empower them to be leaders of their own learning! #UCPSChat
  • RimmerEdTech Nov 14 @ 7:58 PM EST
In my life I like 50/50 but I think kids each have their own ratio. Lets give them the opportunity to choose and give them options, just like the real world! #empowerED A4 #ucpschat

  • lmcdonald121 Nov 14 @ 7:59 PM EST
@ucpschat A4: There has to be a mix and that mix likely depends on st needs. There's no one right answer. Digital res are only as good as their content, relevance, and integration. #UCPSChat
  • GinaChisum1 Nov 14 @ 7:59 PM EST

  • adp_239 Nov 14 @ 7:59 PM EST
A4: I agree with @mrs_kmontgomery 50/50 would be awesome but there is nothing like finding a reading spot and getting lost in a book and sts. need to experience that there are all types of text and need to be exposed to them. #UCPSChat

A4: I would say 60 print 40 digital, kids spend a lot of time in front of a screen and it's nice to be able to find a nice, quiet, cozy spot to relax with a book in hand an escape into the world that you are reading about even though tech is the future. #UCPSChat

I like 70% to 30% digital to print media. As an arts teacher I know that it is important to have written music available, but I can also appreciate te ongoing digitalisation of media and cn teach my students of music into the future with a way music itself is evolving. #ucpschat
