Always find a way to agree on doing what is best for the children. We don't have to agree on many things, but as parent and school, agreeing on doing what is best for a student, should be our common ground. #TXed
A4: Lend an ear to listen first. Hear them out. Often parents just want to know they are being heard and part of their students education. #TXed#SJHcats
A4 You try to find a common ground, their child (your student)! They need to know how much you care for their child, just as much as the child needs to know! #txed
A4 Set up yourself and the family for success. Start with positives, listen, restate what you heard, and work together. If you need a support or second person, get it. #txed
A4-Listen and listen some more. Sometimes they are upset but not at you. Let them be able to feel that they are heard. Ask questions for clarification. #TXed

Eliminating Moses as one of our law-givers is contrary to factual history and to #SCOTUS precedent. I successfully defended the Ten Commandments on the Capitol Grounds arguing that they were formative to our laws. Moses & the Commandments are in SCOTUS Building. #txlege#tcot
A4: Patience is key! Listen to them. Hear what they have to say...you don't know where that parent is coming from or their past experiences. Be open minded and work together to make the best decision in the best interest of the student.
#TXed
A4: Listen, seek to understand before being understood. Make it clear that you love their child and you’re cute working toward the same goal - their success. #txed
A4-Make sure that you clarify your message to them. We tend to use ed jargon a lot and parents might not understand what we are trying to convey. #TXed
A4. Listen to their perspective. Many times, the ideas/opinions do align with the parents, so by listening and taking the time to explain the rationale, it works for all parties. Also, get into the habit of including parents when ideas are being developed. That's a win win. #TXed

#TXed
A4: let them know I love their baby in the most authentic way possible and then hush up and listen to them with empathy and try to understand. Even if they’re not willing to do the same. #TXed
It's timely! This week I'm researching (1) the issue of a school sharing student e-mail addresses with a third party, and (2) an affiliated group soliciting homelessness info, medical info, etc. from students. This is helpful! #HISD#txed
A5. School decision making committee and coffee with the principal are 2 key ways! It allows parents to be a part of the vision and to "vent" if needed. Listen and learn. When you do this, they're valued. #TXed
I'm there in the drive up lane, in the cafeteria in the mornings & lunchtimes with parents, and I'm the one controlling and loading car dismissal. Every interaction is an opportunity to connect with parents and make them part of our school culture. #TXed
A5 Invite parents in to see the awesomeness. From pta to helping in a classroom to reading with kids, tap into their support and willingness to support others. #txed
A5: I think parents want to help but aren’t always sure how. Invite them to be readers and speakers. Come run our morning coding club. Tell us how you became a pilot. We need them! #TXed
It is an informal "chat" with the parents and we literally provide coffee and pastries. Parents come and have an open dialogue about issues, concerns, progress, or whatever. Whereas parent meetings have an agenda and has more structure. #TXed
Q6: Have you ever praised your parents for the outstanding job they have done? If so, how do you or your school acknowledge the incredible contributions that they do for our students? #TXed

We rotate presenters. 1st one is me. 2nd one VP/Counselor, 3rd is Reading or Math Coach. We try to cater to what our parents are asking about. But a large part of it is just to give them an opportunity to ask the questions they have. #TXed
Have you checked out our Facebook page "West Avenue Elementary School -NEISD"? Have you seen the pics of our parents? They, just like the kids, love the positive praise and recognition. Parenting is a difficult job! #TXed

A6: honestly, outside of thanking the PTO I don’t think this area is addressed much...Definitely an area for growth for me. Cooking up some ideas as we speak! #txed
A6. We had an awards celebration for every grade level on our campus at the end of the year. Mandatory that each student was celebrated for something. There, teachers also gave certificates to parents who have went above and beyond. They love going to the stage! Lol. #TXed

Are you kidding? We absolutely can do better than a non-educator in that role. What you just said is what every man says about him. The man-crushes are infuriating. Stop making excuses for him #mansplaining#txed#txlege
Appropriated FSP state share for ISDs is estimated at 32 percent. With charters, state share is 38 percent. Those numbers count state sources of revenue as "state" and locally assessed and collected ISD property taxes as "local," even if they're recaptured by the state. #txed
