Happy New Year and welcome to those of you joining us for #LaEdChat this evening. Please introduce yourself by telling us where you’re from and what you do.
I’m Paula from New Orleans. I teach 4th graders ELA and social studies. Tonight I’ll be moderating #LaEdChat. Our topic is: Goal Setting for You and Your Students.
A5: Very interesting graphic... I like the contrast of a process vs. a product. I think we get bogged down in product too often. I love the idea of process being long-term! #LaEdChat
A5: I like that with a process goal it’s about the journey, not the destination. If the journey is enjoyable and worthwhile could see myself sticking to the goal longer. #LaEdChat
Q6: Which do your Ss need to work on the most - academic goals, social skills, or behavioral goals in 2018? How can you encourage them to do so? #LaEdChat
I have a special one just for you and people in similar jobs as yours - What tech goal would you like to see more Ts in your district achieve? #LaEdChat
A6: I teach 9th graders so it's essential that we have long goal conversations. They have to formulate a plan for the future. Interest surveys, vision boards, career research, etc #LaEdChat
#LaEdChat Great question! I would like to see teachers challenge themselves with something new and innovative that supports their curriculum. That would be my goal... How can I use technology in one way that would support student learning and achievement?
A7: I would like to finish my social studies curriculum map that I have been working on this year and have it tweaked and ready for next school year. #LaEdChat
A8: I established the 40 Book Challenge at the beginning of the school year with my Ss. Will revisit and see where they are. Set 20 Book Challenge for second semester. #LaEdChat
A8: Our 40 book challenge was inspired by @donalynbooks - no grades, reports, prizes - just for the joy of reading The 40 Book Challenge Revisited | Donalyn Miller https://t.co/cVbsEqy5WY#LaEdChat
Q9: Funny questions, Paula! What about reading weight loss books? He-He! I would say read more books. Books can just transform you which in turn helps you to make changes for others. Plus, reading books is a lot more fun! #LaEdChat
Very cool, and @SAFARIMontage is fully integrated with Google and Google Drive as well so those resources would be available to S's inside the platform along with vetted #digitalcontent#LaEdChat as another alternative
I hear ya’. Southern food is so delicious and there is always a reason to be eating - tailgating, Mardi Gras, crawfish boils, and so on and so on. #LaEdChat
