Hello everyone! My name is Julie Garcia and I a work for San Diego Unified School District. I am so excited to be here with all of you this evening. #AppleEduChat
Hi @julieinsd Can you believe we are expecting ice and bad weather here in Maine… again?! Mia here joining from the not so sunny northwoods #AppleEDUchat
Hi folks! I'm Ben from Canada where the ice is actually melting a bit now. I'm more of an iLife kinda guy so tonight will be informative for me! #AppleEDUChat
Hi #AppleEDUchat! Casey here, Director of Technology Innovation & STEM Programs @RoseTreeMedia - just outside of Philadelphia. So excited to chat about #creativity in #iLife tonight.
A1: I work with teachers like @mrsninan1@ms_colletti to help support them as they are looking to give Ss more ownership on what and WHEN they create - I think it’s ab giving Ss the skills to know when and options ab ‘how’ #AppleEDUChat#d100pride#d100chat
A1: As an art teacher creativity is an every day part of my classroom world :) I also love showing Ss and Ts ways they can use it in regular ed and infuse the video/art tools into their every day projects! :) <3 #AppleEduChat
A1: I love giving students guidelines on a project and letting them choose how to express themselves. We just painted two green screen walls in our school so the I'm looking forward to yet another opportunity for students to express their creativity. #AppleEDUChat
Smart Annotation is the workflow sidekick you’ve been dreaming about. Add handwritten feedback directly into your student's Pages docs, and as student makes changes your comments stay anchored to the words they were added to. No PDFs needed. #AppleEDUchathttps://t.co/QUnXFaQZrT
A1. I am allowing Ss to choose their summative product. Some are coding games/robots, others are making board games. There’s a kids book, a comic book, and a perspective writing from the point of view of food (unit is on digestion). #appleeduchat
#AppleEDUchat Q1 I use poetry... we use art and more to do express our understanding in social studies . A few students have created great short documentaries too
YES! I love this too! So fun to leave things kind of open ended and see what crazy awesome things they come up with! :) They constantly surprise me! :) #AppleEDUchat
A1 - I love acronyms. It makes the projects sound all military and stuff :) Project MAPLE and Project UTOPIA were my two that involved Apple tech this year! #AppleEDUChat
A1: We like to foster creativity by providing a lot of choice for our learners to demonstrate their understanding. Set them free, and they'll come back with some stuff we couldn't have thought up! #AppleEDUChat
Smart Annotation is the workflow sidekick you’ve been dreaming about. Add handwritten feedback directly into your student's Pages docs, and as student makes changes your comments stay anchored to the words they were added to. No PDFs needed. #AppleEDUchat …
A1: I think it all starts with your students. How creativity plays out is quite subjective and you need to know your students and their passions before looking at specific initiatives etc. #appleeduchat
A1 Love to let Ss express what they know using so many different multimedia tools and app smashing Start with parameters but eventually hand over the wheel #AppleEDUchat
LOVE this! I would have totally been the board game kid and wish I would have had more opportunities like this when I was in school! Awesome! Way to go! :)
#AppleEDUchat
A1: I think the easiest and most authentic way to incorporate creativity into lessons is to give students choice and ownership about how to learn and how to show what they know. #edchat#AppleEDUchat
We teach our engineering students 2-point perspective drawing, graphic design, & aesthetics. We stress that things have to look good as well as be functional. #AppleEDUChat
A1: I let the students choose how to demonstrate their learning. So I will see all levels of creativity from them. I personally like to use video as an anticipatory/intro Clips works well for this. #AppleEDUchat
A1 Creativity enables kids to invest deeply in what they're learning. If you want kids to really dig in and commit, tap into their creativity! #AppleEDUchat
A1: Give students lots of opportunities to answer difficult questions and create a visual representation of their answer to present to the class. Lots of exploratory learning. Room transformations. #AppleEduChat
Our students are the core of what we do. It is amazing how much we can learn from them when we allow them to create and share their learning in their OWN way!
#AppleEDUChat
I love using Stop Motion (the kids make their own pieces and tell as story through art, (part of our art curriculum) through creating video! I've also had them use green screen to become "part of their art" and Clips to showcase it, learn art history, and reflect! #AppleEDUchat
A1: I model the creative process for Ss & Ts I work w... For example tell a story using Keynote w shapes & animations, pose a question using Clips (#cliphangers). Help people see what is possible & model the growth mindset of taking risks w new tools. #appleeduchat#joyofpl
A1: Giving students choice, but also listening to them for suggestions and ideas for the class to try. I love seeing when students are excited to learn from their peers! #AppleEDUchat
A2: When students know the tools and how to use them to show what they know, the creative possibilities are truly endless. Give them a choice and show them the tools...then the magic happens in ways you wouldn’t have even come up with! #AppleEDUchat
A1: when I teach #jonsmithclass I use tech to make people think differently about what they do in their classrooms. Use tech to start the fire within. #AppleEDUchat
A1) Creativity is the best display of metacognition! Getting them to create a product not just to share with peers but with other third parties builds a lot of buy-in and dedication. #AppleEDUChat
A1: I think the easiest and most authentic way to incorporate creativity into lessons is to give students choice and ownership about how to learn and how to show what they know. #edchat#AppleEDUchat
A1 - Project MAPLE - Modern Art Projects Leveraging Empathy and Project UTOPIA - Understanding Technology's Overall Purpose in Art :) #AcronymsRule#AppleEDUChat
A1 creativity for me has been all about listening to my students! I don’t have to “work” to be creative. The most creative people I know are sitting in my room teaching me everyday! #appleeduchat
Absolutely right. We need to provide more opportunities for them to shine and take ownership over their education and remember that it is their class much more than it is ours! #appleeduchat
A2: I am so incredibly excited about the drawing features in Pages paired with the book creation aspects - can’t wait to see little ones draw their own stories #AppleEDUChat
A1: When students know the tools and how to use them to show what they know, the creative possibilities are truly endless. Give them a choice and show them the tools...then the magic happens in ways you wouldn’t have even come up with! #AppleEDUchat
A2: I think it has got to be the pencil features. Some students and teachers just want to write with a pen or pencil. It’s another way to create and another tool in our toolbox. #AppleEDUchat
#AppleEDUChat Kelly Croy, Director of Innovation and Instruction at Port Clinton City School District in Ohio. I am excited for Apple EDU chat and using the Apple Pencil with my iPad in education.
A1 When kids have a rich and varied creative toolbox, they can express their learning in different ways and tap into their own strengths and vision. This isn't just touchy feely -- it's effective for learning that matters and lasts. #AppleEDUchat
A2. We are not an Apple school (I tried). I use the drawing in Keynote the most to do brief flipped lesson reviews at the beginning of class. #AppleEDUchat
A2: I absolutely love the integration of drawing into the iWork apps, but a close running as well is the book creation in pages. Both are great features that open more possibilities of creativity for teachers and students. #AppleEDUChat#Innovate135
A2: Drawing, drawing, drawing! The ability to draw a sketch alongside a spreadsheet in Numbers is just awesome! Also, love the addition of book creation in Pages! #AppleEDUChat
A2: I'm most excited about the ability to draw and animate drawings in Keynote... This is such a cool way for learners to make their thinking visible. #AppleEDUChat
A2) My perception is (and I may be mistaken) that it will be so much easier for all Ls and Es with apple devices to access. I love making resources more and more available. #AppleEDUchat
I'd love to follow the lead of @theipodteacher and have students create their own iBooks, perhaps explaining different aspects of the IB Biology syllabus for review #AppleEDUchat
During the learning, I also try to design curriculum that allows multiple modes of engagement (tutorials, inquiry, etc.) in a way that customizes the pace and path that’s best for them. #AppleEDUchat
The new Presenter Mode feature in Pages transforms iPad into a virtual teleprompter helping students practice reading & public speaking skills. The auto scrolling feature helps students focus, find their voice, & gain confidence presenting. #AppleEDUchathttps://t.co/nsBN7wsJzT
A2: Here is Ss example. Ss 18 mi apart collab on new BOOK feature in #Pages & using the new draw tool. We use @Showbie to paste link to each group: worked on a story/book about injustice using Story Spine. So many ways to be creative & have voice! #AppleEDUchat@AppleEDU#edtech
That is one of my favorite reasons for using tech with my kids! They don't dwell on their mistakes because there is an "undo" button! :) They are so much faster to jump forward, problem solve, and move on! :) #AppleEDUchat
A2: The potential for and focus on originality w drawing in Pages, Keynote, and Numbers. Ss can now develop voice for storytelling in these apps w their own images! #AppleEDUChat
The new Presenter Mode feature in Pages transforms iPad into a virtual teleprompter helping students practice reading & public speaking skills. The auto scrolling feature helps students focus, find their voice, & gain confidence presenting. #AppleEDUchathttps://t.co/3YEFh6RSYQ…
A2 - The ability to draw is amazing! I know you could use the line tools in the past to "draw" but it could be slow and awkward. Now drawing feels natural and intuitive. #appleeduchat
A2 I'm excited about the addition of so many shapes and designs to the iWork apps. Kids can seamlessly use visual representations to express their ideas and enhance their message. #AppleEDUchat
Can't WAIT! :) Was so excited to hear about it....and the name alone.... *perfect* :) That is what I try to teach my kids every day..... EVERYONE can create! :) <3 #AppleEDUchat
The new Presenter Mode feature in Pages transforms iPad into a virtual teleprompter helping students practice reading & public speaking skills. The auto scrolling feature helps students focus, find their voice, & gain confidence presenting. #AppleEDUchathttps://t.co/nsBN7wsJzT
A2 The feature I’m interested in most is the ability to create books in Pages, although I’m concerned about what this may mean for the future of iBooks Author. #AppleEDUchat
I've dug into it and it is awesome. I was showing it to everyone Tuesday afternoon. We have students do video explanations. This makes it so much easier for them to make better videos. #AppleEDUChat
In reply to
@julieinsd, @bethany_nugent, @jg_jgarrett
A2: I am actually most excited to see how the math Ts around me (I teach ELA) use the new annotation feature. So often I hear Ts who are reluctant about tech express that students must be able to write out equations. This makes it fool proof! #AppleEDUchat

A2: SO much! :) I LOVE that they added the ability to draw in the apps! It will take the "draw here, save, insert" out of our projects and will make the process more efficient! I also love that we can create iBooks on the iPads now and can NOT WAIT to have Ss start! #AppleEDUchat
A2: I am very excited to see how the math Ts around me (I teach ELA) use the new annotation feature. So often I hear Ts who are reluctant about tech express that students must be able to write out equations. This makes it so much easier to get them on board! #edtech#AppleEDUchat
My Ss create a final reflection digital book with text, videos, and images. Previously done in BookCreator, but limiting for iPhone users. Book creation in Pages changes the game. #AppleEDUchat
A2 We've only been back in school for 2 days since the update, but today I invited a sixth grader to test out the new features. She promptly busted out this cool survey summary in Numbers, enhanced with shapes and some (hasty) artwork. Excited by the possibilities! #AppleEDUchat
A2: Also love that it will get kids drawing instead of grabbing images from the web! We always talk about "being inspired rather than copying" and this will make it even easier for them to create their own drawings to go along with projects! :) #AppleEDUchat
So many ideas - not sure where to start- for sure line animations for food webs or succession and books to teach elementary kids Earth friendly practices #AppleEDUChat
A3: I think it is a great way for students to go back and reflect on what they have learned, but also using it as a platform to teach others or to dive into wonders that they have. They can really take ownership of their material. #AppleEDUchat
A2 Everything! Love the ability to draw right in Pages & then layer in charts, video etc, then to be able to annotate Ss work too! Heaven! #AppleEDUchat
This is so awesome. I've taught my students to use the presenter notes in keynote remote for their presentations. Now they have a teleprompter. Empowering #AppleEDUchat
A3 I can see lab reports becoming so much more dynamic with Pages books and draw - possibly components of Numbers (with drawing? YES) #AppleEDUchat Love these new features
A2: Also....APPLE PENCIL for every iPad made me so happy! Rn I only have 2 pros in my room and I can't wait for a time when every S's iPad can work with them! Apple Pencil changed digital drawing for me and my Ss LOVE it! Now we just need an #ApplePencil classpack! #AppleEDUchat
A3: Our @MMS_Colts students use Keynote for making vocabulary flash cards. Now instead of using already existing pictures to represent the words, they can create and draw their own! #AppleEDUChat
A3 - For example the new drawing features in the "iWork" suite could allow me to get students to cartoonize? The French Revolution instead of typed notes or presentation. Explain the French Revolution in a comic book or cartoon! #AppleEDUChat#DailyFunnys?
A3. Formulas are going so much easier than ever before. It used to be clunky and time consuming. I can make the math work so much more authentic and easier to follow! #AppleEDUChat
A3 Iwould love to have them create “binders” for different topics in science using Keynote. They can take notes, doodles, pictures, create graphs, etc. Then have the ability to share that out! #appleeduchat
That's awesome! I teach my kids perspective, graphics and aesthetics too! LOVE perspective because they're so amazed when they get it! :) #AppleEDUchat
A3: Getting learners who may benefit from different forms of note taking could try sketch noting. It's more forgivable than pen and paper and lets them be creative and redesign what they know. #appleeduchat
Yes, although we haven't quite mastered the technique of editing the shapes! My 7th graders are using custom shapes as part of animations explaining science concepts. #AppleEDUchat
A3 I have never been a fan of typing notes but see immense possibilities for deeper learning & connection making using #sketchnoting - ❤️ the ability to continually make the learning unique & meaningful to Ss-truly engaging on many levels #AppleEDUchat
A1 I try to rock #criticalcreativity & #rigorouswhimsy every opportunity I get; gave Ss the option to translate a short interview w @avantgame into either emojis, icons or sketchnotes yesterday -- amplify reading comprehension #appleeduchat
A3: As an English T, I want my Ss engaging with the text. Mark it up, circle words they don’t know, jot interesting thoughts as they come. I want their reading and writing to flow out. This messy brainstorming is where the magic happens; this allows that. #AppleEDUchat#edchat
I know this is off topic (SURPRISE), but we've been working w/ Apple Classroom to give Schoology tests on iPads. Using it to lock Ss into Schoology. #AppleEDUchat#schoologychat Works like a champ!
A3: We are doodlers by default. I think going back to a lesson and adding notes, sketches, circling key words, drawing pictures to define meaning, sketch-noting a reading assignment...it will redefine reflection and deeper learning for students! #AppleEDUchat
Right now I do sketching activities where my students draw in @sketchbookapp and I randomly choose two students to use my pros with the Apple Pencil. The difference in their drawings is amazing! This is a third grader! :) #AppleEDUChat
In reply to
@jg_jgarrett, @julieinsd, @sketchbookapp
Agreed! The studies I have read support sketching and hand writing for deeper learning and retention. #AppleEDUChat My pencil was a game-changer for me and I see it for my students, too.
A3 I have never been a fan of typing notes but see immense possibilities for deeper learning & connection making using #sketchnoting - ❤️ the ability to continually make the learning unique & meaningful to Ss-truly engaging on many levels #AppleEDUchat
Absolutely; the ability to sketch allows students to move seamlessly btw visual and verbal ways of thinking -- this can only be of benefit #appleeduchat
A3 I can see lab reports becoming so much more dynamic with Pages books and draw - possibly components of Numbers (with drawing? YES) #AppleEDUchat Love these new features
A3 Being able to draw on graphs or on top of calculations to show understanding adds a lot of depth - drawing in Numbers? Whaaaa? Awesome #AppleEDUchat
A3: Been working on a CBL reflection journal in Numbers. Excited about the possibility of learners jotting notes using sketches to make meaning. #appleeduchat
A3: In the past, I’ve had students image search for some picture they could relate to a vocab word to help make that deeper connection. The drawing feature will allow them to create an image that creates an authentic connection on a much deeper level. 🙌🏼 #AppleEDUchat#edtech
Shoutout to all D100 for attending this chat on Spring Break - and amazing that we have @JCasaTodd leading us! We can’t wait to hear you speak at @iEngageMidwest TY! Want to see the new features in iWork for the iPad meet me over at #AppleEDUChat for more!
A3 I think we'll incorporate original artwork more fluidly and frequently into iWork projects -- it's like what your papers turn into when you have the sweet jumbo box of 96 crayons at your desk. Irresistible! Illustration will be a natural part of publishing. #AppleEDUchat
Get hands on with drawing features in iWork ✍🏼 See how illustrations can make class presentations, documents, and spreadsheets become beautiful beyond words. https://t.co/bCs9e3BDlA#AppleEDUchat
A3 It’s features like these that help maintain Keynote’s status as the premiere presentation app. The quality of the slides you can produce make everything else look amateurish. #AppleEDUchat
If folks are looking for ways to apply the ideas & opportunities the new iWork supports with Pages, Numbers, Keynote & Pencil, take a look at @IntentionBook; @amyburvall & I wrote it with these sorts of tools in mind https://t.co/y0tmrsW64A#AppleEDUchat
A4: While I'm excited for Smart Annotation, we have had to learn to work without it so far. We rely heavily on @NotabilityApp for annotation. I don't know that I see our workflow changing. #AppleEDUchat
A3: I loved how shapes transformed kids' projects, and now that drawing is integrated, I am THRILLED to see how they take them to the next level, making them more personalized and creative! :) I can't wait to use them drawing with Magic Move to create animations! #AppleEDUchat
A2 Today my Ss wrote thesis statement & for homework they will create music on GarageBand then record themselves reading the thesis statements with the music - tomorrow we will add it to a Pages book Learning never ends #AppleEDUchat
Exactly! If a school has access to these tools, there's no reason why students should have to remain in one modality of expression -- except to meet the standards & even then . . . #appleeduchat
A4 I think English teachers will love it. I think anyone that needs to annotate student work will love it. How convenient is that? Right on the document. No need to convert to PDF!! #AppleEDUChat
There’s a more intimate, personal feeling with an iPad and I believe that Smart Annotstion will be a game changer in keeping that personal feeling in-feedback-so many possibilities! #AppleEDUchat
YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Your sketches are so great! Love them! This makes me just want to do the rest of the year teaching sketchnotes to my kids! lol Get them all ready for middle school! Such a valuable tool and helps with memory SO MUCH! #AppleEDUchat
I love seeing us talk about group projects. There is so much criticism around devices and losing human contact. That is not the case with good instruction.
#appleeduchat
A4 In addition to pencil annotations that magically "stick to" the text, different colors and shapes can be used to code annotations or responses to work -- marking big ideas, great turns of phrase, questions, or amazing info. #AppleEDUchat
Here’s one of many articles supporting hand-writing notes for deeper learning — the Apple Pencil gives us the better path with handwriting and sketching on our tablets. #AppleEDUchathttps://t.co/kxfTd3rPvC@jg_jgarrett
A4: I’m really excited to see how @collabgenius uses the Smart Annotation features in Pages as they collaborate with one another’s classes. The editing process just got so much better! #AppleEDUchat
A4: Anything that will potentially shorten the feedback loop is powerful. I envision not just educator, but peer to peer feedback in the form of smart annotations. The quality of learner products could increase dramatically if used intently. #AppleEDUChat
YES! I used to use Book Creator for this but I think with the amazing updates to Pages with the drawing ability it will be a game changer! #AppleEDUchat
If a student wants to draw digitally, I let them borrow my personal iPad Pro and Apple Pencil! Can't wait for more students to be able to use it at the same time! #AppleEDUChat
Aw, thanks! #sketchnotes has transformed the way I listen and process, and I love sharing that process with kids. That's why the new drawing tools are exciting to me, too! #AppleEDUchat
A4 I think many of our faculty would love it as long as we could figure out a quick and easy way from them to get assignments in and out of our LMS. #AppleEDUchat
A4: Today our students completed a collaborative Pages document: one student team member went back through the writing and added his drawing/annotation to show understanding #AppleEDUchat
YES! I sketchnote all the time and the difference it makes is incredible! I remember way more, and actually enjoy looking back at my notes now! I remember so much more when I sketch with notetaking! #AppleEDUchat
If you haven’t played around with smart annotation - I encourage you to play around right now! Share your first experience with a short clip or image - we are all learning this together! #AppleEDUchat
#appleEDUchat And my annotations on the Student’s paper move with their typed revisions. They are connected like magic to the text I wrote on. It’s amazing.
I asked a student to draw on my iPad Pro with my pencil.. The results... and this is not traced! I edited his name but so it cut off the fact that he did this in Keynote!!! The possibilities are endless #AppleEDUChat
I'm lucky that I have an iPad Pro bc of #SICMBC grant money; bummed that bc my students are 1 to 1 MacAirs that they aren't going to be able to access these opportunities any time soon #AppleEDUchat

A4: I CAN’T WAIT to use the draw feature when I collaborate in Pages to REAL TIME EDIT MY STUDENTS’ WRITING more meaningfully! Hello, editing marks! #AppleEDUchat
A4: Today our students completed a collaborative Pages document: one student team member went back through the writing and added his drawing/annotation to show understanding #AppleEDUchat
A4: I think it is a great visual for students to see the markup right on the page itself. I think boxed comments on the sides can be confusing for younger students. This would be great for the writing workshop and peer evaluation! #AppleEDUchat
Good question - I've been thinking about that, too! I think we have to model the possibilities and show deeper ways to annotate beyond filling in blanks! #AppleEDUchat
I love presenter mode!! I’m on spring break so I used it to make a video on why teachers need more resources!!! It helped me tremendously! I know it will help students #AppleEDUchat
Me too! It's crazy....I used to take few notes because I just wanted to look and listen to the speaker. Now I am ultra focused and as I draw I am listening for the next key to add. My notes help me take away so much more! #AppleEDUchat
A5: Hopefully ones that will be public and reach out to the world for feedback and collaboration! Their books need to spread far beyond the classroom #appleeduchat
Sure! @MrsMeierLeeIC and I designed it to follow the progression of a Challenge from investigation to action, including reflection and assessment rubric. I think drawing will add to it!!#AppleEDUchat
A4b : Here is a 2 min video of today’s Pages collaboration using story spine and ending with addition of new collaborative drawing feature! Kids loved it! The annotation was done at the end. @AppleEDU#AppleEDUchat
A5 In my Communication in 21c course Ss are working on personal memoirs using diverse modalities.. the new features offer endless opportunity for personal expression & representation of self #AppleEDUchat
A5: I'd love to see Ss create interactive multimedia iBooks on different parts of the IB Biology syllabus for other students to use as review #AppleEDUchat
It's been why I haven't been able to really explore the power of Clips either -- it would really be only for me & my creating bc my students can't use it #appleeduchat#werocktheQuickTimePlayerhard

A5: Whatever their heart desires! I love that educators like @jdeinhammer ask learners what they want to learn and what products they want to create throughout the year. #AppleEDUChat
A5: I’m interested in seeing the possibilities. We currently have BookCreator on all iPads so I’m going to let the students guv a presentation on the differences and found out what they prefer. #AppleEDUChat
A5: this feature is making me reconsider many projects. Not just a final reflection digital book, but almost any writing assignment can now be paired with creative media and bound as a digital book. Merges two project streams into one and allows students to create. #AppleEDUchat
A5 I would love to see one called, Fractions in Real Life. My students learn fractions in fourth grade and they lack the connection at first. This book would be a great read for the years to come! #appleeduchat
yep! Even when we have some PD that I'm not very excited about, but then I remember I can sketch while I listen, and I am in a happy learning place, even if the content isn't overly engaging! #AppleEDUchat
Me too! It's crazy....I used to take few notes because I just wanted to look and listen to the speaker. Now I am ultra focused and as I draw I am listening for the next key to add. My notes help me take away so much more! #AppleEDUchat
Q5: Students are going to create reflection books to chronicle creative work they’ve done through the school year. Powerful reminder of the amazing learning that takes place in one year. #AppleEDUChat
A5: I don’t have Ss, but as an administrator, I’d like to create one which highlights different @RHLSD_Colts teachers and their use of iWork in the classroom- each chapter a different grade, content area, and/or lesson! #personalizedPD#AppleEDUchat
A4: I think this will help in writing at ALL LEVELS - I'm currently at elementary and could see this being helpful for teachers trying to help kids learn the basics. Fast and easy way to communicate with Ss! #AppleEDUchat
A5: I have had students on Mac create books as diaries/biographies and as part of an advertisement project for a scientific prototype, it will be much easier now #AppleEDUchat
A5 we just finished a children’s book on story bird. I think we’ll do some poetry since April is poetry month!!! In social studies it can be used to show understanding of a topic. I was thinking of combining garage band with the book to give it a live feel #AppleEDUChat
A5 I’m leading a school-wide initiative for faculty who want to build their own textbooks. I’ve been teaching them iBooks Author up to this point, but now I’m not sure if I should stick with just iBA or give them the option to use Pages. #AppleEDUchat
A5: In fifth grade, we usually have students create a trifold brochure. I see iBooks being huge! I also want to incorporate #ClassroomClips too! #AppleEDUChat
A5 - It would be cool to see students create the "kids version" of a school guide or handbook for students. Lingo, graphics, and lots of arrows everywhere :) Something more hip than those boring docs but with the same message. #AppleEDUChat
Love this idea @meredithedtech! Different chapters for different content areas and grades? It would also be a great way to share stories from your district w a broader audience! #AppleEDUchat
In reply to
@meredithedtech, @RHLSD_Colts, @meredithedtech
A5: I am currently reporting the work we are doing for a grant from the US Dept of Ed...I think a digital book created in Pages would be an awesome artifact to showcase the work of our learners! #AppleEDUChat
I would LOVE to do collaborative digital art portfolios in Pages and then have the students share their art, and reflect on what they learned, give each other tips, etc. In the end we'd have a big, beautiful collaborative "art yearbook" :) #AppleEDUchat
A5:My niece, Caroline (6 yo), created her own story on Blue Jays today based on a lesson in her Kinder, she wanted to share facts! Here are images from her book she wanted to share w/ you!(not published YET) this was her 1st time creating on iPad #AppleEDUChat
Can’t wait to see your ChemE’s cookbook with actual information about WHY & HOW ingredients interact as well as how to make things taste good :) #AppleEDUchat
A5: I love the idea of assigning students a famous artist/period/piece of art, and having them create an iBook about it. It would be a super cool way for kids to teach each other and expand our classroom library exponentially! #AppleEDUchat
From fairy tales to final projects, see how easy it is to create a classroom full of authors. With the new book templates students can add image galleries, videos, shapes & drawings. These interactive books are easy to share & view in iBooks. https://t.co/OeNGtKvUCY#AppleEDUchat
YES! That reminds me of a project I love! Each kid draws their own "I Spy" and creates a poem to go with it (inc. writing/poetry). We always did this on paper but it would be SO COOL to do on Pages now! They won't have to argue over the final copy! #AppleEDUchat
Choice! I am impressed that you are leading this. I plan on writing/publishing a text this summer; I am not sure if I will use Pages or iBooks. #AppleEDUChat
Q6 Thinking about how Keynote or Pages could be used for an end of year Passion Project because you could embed any media you can save to camera roll. #appleeduchat
A6) These features add a lot of opportunity for differentiation! Once we can add in that leaner choice for self-expression and put them in control of deciding how to show their learning the best we've set them up to do it over and over again. #AppleEduChat seesaw
Here’s version 1.0; I will update this one as we publish volume 2 at the end of the semester! #FoodSci#AppleEDUChat The Story of Food by Margot Vigeanthttps://itunes.apple.com/us/book/the-story-of-food/id843364247?mt=11

A6: So many ideas! I think we will see students developing multi-modal representations of their learning collaboratively. I think we will be able to in one presentation, video, text and sketching. #AppleEDUchat
expanded Apple Pencil access means students can sketch/write, then use apps as needed to convert writing to text! I really like @MyScriptApps for conversion, which can improve accessibility, such as in group study sessions. #AppleEDUChat
A6: Artist use various mediums to express themselves. Two paintings of same subject may look entirely different, but same subject. Sa can have that same ability. They may see the answer to a problem in a different way and now can express it with Apple tools. #AppleEDUChat
A6 creativity is enhanced because students who can’t draw can by tracing so now they won’t get bummed when I ask for a drawing lol. Everyone can truly create- Art books music .. endless possibilities!Imagine the digital portfolios #appleeduchat
A6 Ss are creating graphic novels in the Pages books this week - would love to see some templates and stickers, shapes etc to enhance these projects! #AppleEDUchat
A6: W books in Pages Ss (& Ts) have a tool that can enable them to feel like an author and facilitate sharing and publishing work. This difference from a word processing tool to book creation tool is a game changer. #AppleEDUChat
A5: I think students will really like the new feature of being able to create books and draw in them. Compared to some other apps, the detail is easier with Pages. I do like the idea others mentioned of using it for sketchbooks. #AppleEDUChat
Thanks for weighing in, and I appreciate your kind words. It’s a tough call - both programs are great but come with significant pros and cons. #AppleEDUchat
A6: Well here's what a special little Pre-K learner I know wanted to draw about and animate... a conversation we had from back when flowers started blooming and we saw some bees. https://t.co/aWYPaMfFfc#AppleEDUChat
iBA is so robust and can do so many different things. It certainly creates a nice product but does require some elbow grease to get there. #AppleEDUchat
A6: The possibilities are literally endless! Everything from creating their own books to making papers come alive with art! I can't wait to see this transform the typical "double spaced, black and white, size 12 font" into a beautiful projects that embrace the arts! #AppleEDUChat
A6) These features add a lot of opportunity for differentiation! Once we can add in that leaner choice for self-expression and put them in control of deciding how to show their learning the best we've set them up to do it over and over again. #AppleEDUChat
PS: the updates to Clips too...... so amazing! They can create and share amazing stories from paper, to presentations, spreadsheets, videos and more! #AppleEDUChat
A6) I am excited for the Everyone Can Create curriculum to support students who feel they don't have that creative gene. This will help boost their confidence for sure!

A6: I like that this is another tool that students can use as a choice. As @bethany_nugent mentioned. I love that it takes away the "standard" paper format and allows for further creativity. Being able to see their personality shine! #AppleEDUchat
My brain is always running on overdrive after #appleeduchat and then I can't sleep! Glad it is spring break so I don't have to worry about that tonight!
Yes, but so worth it! The final product is lovely. I love the idea of working in Pages, though; my Gr 3 kids want to publish on their iPads, too! #AppleEDUChat
