A1 With November having #WorldKindnessDay I will keep the focus on transforming learning and finding those amazing experiences for students. Seeing what difference we can make is my driving force. This will be my inspiration. #EduGladiators
A1 As the leader of my campus I know that I set the tone and I also know burnout is real & heavy this time of year. So, modeling self care (ex. gym time) and providing pick me ups & showing appreciation to my staff is important (ex. bringing in massages on Monday) #EduGladiators
Good morning #edugladiators! Tracy, 6th gr Sci T from MA here today. I gladiate for Ss by working on intentionally planning engagement strategies to keep kids motivated.
A1: We have many events that take place in November. I started off the month with motivational speakers with connections to the sports world that came in and talked with my middle schoolers about staying focused and on track to finish the first trimester strong. #edugladiators
A1: take time to get know something special about my students. Reach out to the students that I seem to pinteract with as often as I should, find my motivation within them. #EduGladiators
A1: My littles help to keep me motivated. I have to be ready for them daily. At home I really work to do what I need so I can be the best for my littles during the day. #Edugladiators
Good morning! I'm Tami and I'm late! Our time already changed, so all my chats are off for me until everyone turns their clocks back too! #Edugladiators
Hello, Lester Dinerstein - Educator since 2004 - Teaches in Moreno Valley, California 9th and 10th grade English and AVID. As a teacher, we all "gladiate" for our kids. I make sure my grades are accurate with grading conferences once a month to check in. #edugladiators

A1(b): As well, I have written lots of affirmations to my Ts to help with their morale. We have various activities for them to participate in throughout the month. We are also lucky that we get a week off for thanksgiving since we are a balanced calendar school. #edugladiators
A1: November can be difficult since there are many interruptions to the learning culture. I treat every day like it’s a 98 yard drive with only two minutes left on the clock. 🏈 #Edugladiators#Makeeverydaycount
Vic A HS AP from the Dallas Fort Worth area. I show Ss that they can always improve grades/behavior just by making small positive incremental changes each day! They add up! #EduGladiators
A1: Gratitude and staying present really help when things start to become a slog. Reminding ourselves why we do what we do, and enjoying the positive changes that we are making can help get us through! #EduGladiators
A1: As the year goes on, I continue to support my staff with whatever they need. Provide them with resources and keep teaching and showing them different tools to use with the students #EduGladiators
A1: last month a few chats focused on the long and difficult October. The more we focus on the time the less we are focusing on the fun. Stop looking at the clock and look for engagement. #Edugladiators
Such amazing advice, I was thinking the same thing about the gym! @MrCoachEli We are talking about mindfulness with students this year so that is what I'm hoping will help me through November #edugladiators
A1 As the leader of my campus I know that I set the tone and I also know burnout is real & heavy this time of year. So, modeling self care (ex. gym time) and providing pick me ups & showing appreciation to my staff is important (ex. bringing in massages on Monday) #EduGladiators
A1 Connecting with our Ss & engaging them in their learning provides motivation for me each day. As we see our Ss continue to grow academically, socially, emotionally,& with leadership, I am continuously energized to move forward in support our team as they grow Ss #edugladiators
A1 I try to continue giving lots of positive feedback to Ts. Also a day off of our weekly PD to catch up on planning & assessment, seems to give them a boost #EduGladiators
A1) I will continue to dream. Dream of a better tomorrow, dream of the success of every educator and student. Then I will collaborate with teams I serve to help move people closer to their dreams. #EduGladiators
A1: Due to not having a classroom right now, I plan on making it through the long months by focusing on the kids and always challenging myself and my students to be better. #EduGladiators
A1 Keeping myself motivated means staying current on latest methods & ideas, but also stepping back to reflect & have personal/family time. #edugladiators
A1 keeping myself positive, being intentional about planning for the classroom and staying connected with pln to keep each other motivated and sharing ideas for pushing through #edugladiators
Just got a groupon for a massage this morning! Hoping to get it in this weekend. Lucky staff to have you thinking about and supporting them. #Edugladiators
A1: By being thankful: for my family, my friends, my work, my students, my life. Thankfulness drives me, which keeps me positive and kind and empathetic, which enables me to authentically motivate others. #edugladiators
A1: For me, I try to arrive in November (and the rest of this “silly season” until January) with the kids engaged in a major project for which I become consultant and cheerleader. Little energizes me more than their energy. #edugladiators
A1) Making sure celebrations of progress are part of our daily plan. Beginning to make plans w/ young adults for presenting at #sdwone in January. #EduGladiators
A1: November is one of my favorite months because of the reminder to be thankful. So I try to angle all things through that lens. Sure, we’re all tired. But let’s be grateful that we have the opportunity to have a positive effect on the lives of kids #EduGladiators
A1: Self-care and leaning on my team and coworkers for support. We really have each other's backs and I know that is important all the time, but especially this time of year #EduGladiators
A1) By trying to maintain a positive attitude; continuing to energize myself through focusing on things just for me (exercise, good sleep, good nutrition, etc.); I will remember to NOT take myself so seriously; I will continue to read LOTS b/c that renews my soul. #Edugladiators
A1- Stay connected to my PLN and use some of the awesome ideas for my T's.. Planning a Caramel Apple station and dinner for conferences this month as well as turkey scratch offs! #edugladiators
TBH I have difficult time during the spring with all the testing & schedule interruptions. Throws me off balance. But for this month in particular, I'm attending an Organic World Language workshop. I also film my lessons, which keeps me motivated and accountable. #edugladiators
Totally agree Brent! That’s why #EduGladiators theme for October was Student Engagement & each chat highlighted way to engage our Ss in a meaningful way!
A1: My class is participating in a #KindnessBucketList challenge so we can focus on spreading kindness during the month of November!! I also have some #globalcollaboration plans to keep my Ss engaged & motivated to learn with others! #EduGladiators
I have started making a list of students that I didn’t interact with at the end of each of day. Then making sure the next day I reach out to them in some way. #EduGladiators
These are key points, Carla. Continuously affirming our team members who constantly dig-in and support our Ss is great practice. Conveys that our team members are appreciated for their consistency @carlameyrink#edugladiators
A1: I stay motivated to continue inspiring change in my classroom/education by surrounding myself with great books (PD and novels), purposely carving out time to meet with mentors/friends, and this year attending #NCTE18 is going to make my November AMAZING!! #EduGladiators
A1: This might sound corny but I look at my planner. I use the old school planner to write out what I call the rough draft of teaching and follow it up with Google Calender. I find it helps me to recap how the day went. At times, it can be tedious but it helps. #edugladiators
good morning- Bobbie Lead Learner in MA jumping in for the first time.... I am always Gladiating for Kids to make sure they LOVE coming to school EVERY day!
November is a great month to think about what we have to be grateful for & to give our Ss reasons to be grateful about being in our classrooms. Sadly, some don't have reasons to be grateful at home. Thinking about that keeps me motivated to do my best for the Ss. #edugladiators

A1. I've found that waking up early to 'sharpen the saw' through time for personal reflection and writing has helped me tremendously! Its made such a big impact on my growth as a person and educator I ended up writing about here's the post:
https://t.co/T6HGDmocdB#edugladiators
A2 One of the pivotal moments that really impacted & shifted my practices was @KaganOnline PD. I'll be bringing that to my staff this month and then providing them support & coaching. Additionally #NoteableNovember (see my A1) modeling/showing appreciation to staff #EduGladiators
A2 I hope not only to inspire by my example in the classroom but by supporting another teacher at my school. I will encourage one teacher to step out of their comfort zone and help them build an amazing learning experience. Time & support; what is needed most. #EduGladiators
A1: Well my PLN on Twitter and on campus keeps inspiring me to do something new, something different, something engaging and meaningful for my student, myself and my colleagues. I would remind myself to not be afraid to try new things #BeTheChange#EDUgladiators
Love it! We are doing Random Acts of Kindness in December. I'm trying to teach my littles that there is also joy in giving, not just getting. #edugladiators
Love this approach here, Brandi. Encouraging our Ss to actively practice kindness among their peers connects with social behavior. Important that we help our Ss establish these foundations. @bmilla84#edugladiators
I plan on being an inspiration and firing up my students by having my students focus on their “why” and while doing that have them set up action plans to reach their goals! #EduGladiators
A2: I spread "positive gossip" about other Ss and Ts. I tell others that I appreciate those Ts, that they are doing a good job, and that their presence has contributed to our Ss success. #EduGladiators
Yes! Gratitude is such a powerful practice for adults and kids alike! It is how I start my day and know if puts me on the right path to serve others. #edugladiators

A2) I hope I am inspiring others through my podcast; I will inspire through my enthusiasm & love of teaching; I will inspire others with a simple smile; I will inspire others with kind words & a positive attitude. Maybe also through coffee because, well coffee. #Edugladiators
A1. I’m no longer in the classroom but coaching & mentoring Ss particularly seniors for the future keeps me motivated because in Nov, the semester is almost over due to the holidays. #EduGladiators
One of the most IMPORTANT things educators need that they are often TERRIBLE at is stress management. ie::
• sleep
• eating habits
• social life
• anger management
#EduGladiators
A1 Long for us -leading 2long periods of time Ss away from us &we are already seeing behaviors building- modeling what is best for Ss is good for us-we are focusing on gratitude meditations daily and journaling whole school. Everyone wins!
#schoolHAPPINESScounts#EduGladiators
A2 I sporadically drop anchors of appreciation into colleagues mailboxes. I need to do this more regularly. Also, good old-fashioned thank you notes go a long way too! #edugladiators#LeadLAP
A1: I think of Nov as not being long but an opportunity to break away from the routine of school a bit & focus on thankfulness & reflection. As #EduGladiators we start by surrounding ourslwves w/warriors who inspire. In our class, community projects etc helps Ss focus on others.
It happened this week... I found myself going through the motions and my students' passion and excitement for #NaNoWriMo18 pulled me through! #EduGladiators
A2: I have been short an ELA teacher and Art teacher for the last few weeks. I have been doing my admin duties and planning and grading for these classes. So I’m hoping that with my positivity my Ts will find the joys to continue smiling through the weeks ahead. #edugladiators
A2: Invite people in to see cool lessons. What ways can I help my enthusiasm spread to others? I think we forget as teachers our students are not the only ones in the building who may need inspiration #EduGladiators
#edugladiators I am going to incorporate new strategies I discovered at #STATCAST2018 and keep my classroom fresh and exciting. The more I can vary things the more curious and engaged I can keep my students and myself. @NowakRo
A1 focus less on the toughness of the month and more on writing down a plan of attack. Identify what you want to do to make your school and classroom better, but different! Making your plans visible also makes the ideas tangible. Think it and Go after it #edugladiators
A2. I did a Kindness Bingo board for staff w/ goal being that as staff if we do acts of kindness during hard months (Oct/Nov) then that can help our students and school env. Trying to put focus on “best way to grow is to help others”. #edugladiators

Q2: The biggest change this year that I made was a sit down with my students (takes days) and go over grades. I have caught one or two of my mistakes plus that "aha" moment of "I didn't turn the assignment in" has helped move the class forward. #edugladiators

A2: Try to do it every day with my blog. Here was yesterday’s attempt. We have to take risks and chase our crazy, but we have to know we are not alone. We are not alone. https://t.co/UkxZNmQGnx#edugladiators
A2: We are empowering our teachers with new literacy training and tools. Beginning to utilize units of study from @TCRWP which I hope will yield a community of readers and writers #EduGladiators
A2 making time to really get to know students and colleagues, work to help others step out of their comfort zones and share the work that they are doing #edugladiators

A2:
We have dozens of little moments each day when we can do this:
Smile often.
Show appreciation.
Greet others by name.
Ask how others are doing AND listen to the answers.
Follow-up on previous conversations.
Be genuine.
Hold open doors.
Send thank you notes...
#edugladiators
A2 I make it a point that when one our team members tries a new practice or adjusts existing ones to recognize them for their willingness to shift and grow. This affirmation demonstrates my appreciation for their willingness to spark change to support our Ss growth #edugladiators
A1: One way I stay fresh is participating in Twitter chats! Checking out the reading lists of those I respect. But mostly remembering its about the kids. #EduGladiators
I need to make time to point out more student accomplishments in our morning announcements this builds pride and culture and I don’t do it enough #EduGladiators
For me, November is usually a great month! My Ss have finally transitioned from EC to elementary & it feels like a real class. Nov is a pretty easy month for me to be my best self. #Edugladiators
A2: I’m going to spend the month writing notes of appreciation. I’ll be headed to @Target to look for stationary in a bit. I’m aiming for at least one handwritten note a day. Feeling seen and appreciated is invaluable. #EduGladiators
A2: A classroom T has gone on maternity leave. I have taken over teaching phonics and word work using the resource our K-3 team uses, seeing the sub hasn't been trained. I'm hoping to ignigte the other grade level T to step up & to support the learning of the sub. #Edugladiators
A2: I've been intent on spending less time focusing on the "have to do's" (curriculum maps, test prep, etc.) and more time on the "should do's" (relevance, life skills, inspiring hope). #edugladiators
We are also going to initiate a school wide push to participate in the @StoryCorps Great Thanksgiving Listen. I think it has the potential to really bring our community together. #edugladiators

A2 Someone on twitter shared the idea of giving teaching teams a full day off from teaching to get together to plan (putting subs in place). We gave it a try & Ts were so grateful! They felt appreciated while having time to bond & share. #edugladiators
Totally agreed. It has a big positive effect on the culture of the staff-room and school as well. Especially a teacher that you are acknowledging hears it from someone else. #EduGladiators
Yes, we are doing #instructionalrounds this month with a group of teachers. Visiting each other empowers teachers and allows them to see all the great things going on in the building. #EduGladiators
A2: make a point to drop a line or two in a note that “calls out” an “ordinary” quality that might otherwise go unnoticed... don’t take awesome for granted. #EduGladiators
This week was tough! My littles were crazy with Halloween on a Wednesday and then crashing from their sugar-high on Thursday!! We should have a PD day the day after Halloween!! #EduGladiators

#EDUgladiators A great way to help lighten the heaviness of a long month is to share ideas and collaborate. To encourage trying something new and to every day smile and help them remember even on the toughest of days- why we chose education and to enjoy the little things.
A2: Intentional acts/notes of gratitude for my fellow staff to let them know how much I appreciate them! Also, I’m working on a special “thankful” project for my Ss so I can identify individual reasons why I’m thankful that they are in my class family! #EduGladiators
Blogging is so magical! It's therapeutic and connects us with others. So much growth can come from it whether reading or writing. Thanks for sharing! #edugladiators
A2: I've been trying 1-on-1 convos with colleagues consistently this year. Not only do you want to build relationships, but people want to be heard and understood. Also helps to build/keep school community & culture of teamwork. #edugladiators
Trying some new can be exciting as it suddenly works beyond your expectations or blow up in your face. LOL! Good for you for trying something new. :) #edugladiators
A2: By saying YES to the requests of others to observe in my classroom, by encouraging others at every turn to get connected on Twitter, and by being someone new teachers can lean into for support and understanding! #EduGladiators
A2: I get to try to light someone's candle every day as a consulting instructional coach. I get to see what Ts and Ss are doing in the classroom, I get to encourage them all to do well and better. #EduGladiators
It’s one way that I show appreciation for the work that these people do each and every day. I admire their collective passion and energy. #EduGladiators

A2 while walking thru classrooms- finding a way to validate my teachers effort and give them a stretch goal for the next student... takes soo long to get there and so rewarding! Then shouting them out and their effort every where I can ;) #EduGladiators
A3 I model it on a daily basis. From encouragement, to surprises, to shoutouts, to listening to students, to talking with them, to making them know they are cared for; my daily interactions show that I am there for them. I never want them to question that. #EduGladiators
A3 The simple answer is model it. I know that the culture of the school in many ways rests on me as the leader. I recognize the value of authentic relationships w/ S's, T's & parents. I spend a lot of time developing & flourishing those relationships #edugladiators
A3- We MODEL this everyday at my school.. we promote it through messages like this one from yesterday, #FindAFriendFridays and celebrating Kind acts #edugladiators
A3: We show kindness and empathy ourselves. We have the power. We can become the culture we wish to see. By spreading these traits we can see the positive ripples manifest themselves in our classrooms, staff rooms, schools, and even communities! #EduGladiators
A3 Begin each class having the students write appreciation notes, model kindness and appreciation liberally throughout each lesson and throughout the day #edugladiators
Yes! Fall is my favorite season with November as one of my favorite months of the year! Great to hear how your perspective of thankfulness is positively impacting students!! #EduGladiators
A1: November is one of my favorite months because of the reminder to be thankful. So I try to angle all things through that lens. Sure, we’re all tired. But let’s be grateful that we have the opportunity to have a positive effect on the lives of kids #EduGladiators
#EduGladiators I personally love November and December- they are long months with high expectations for the holidays but I keep the momentum going with fun student projects and our SCICON night- plus some dissection and exciting labs
A3:I had to have a come-to-Jesus with my little people yesterday. We've worked so hard on building relationships since school started. I got home on TH and received a text from a parent about someone being unkind. My Ss got a VERY firm reminder that it's not OK!! #EduGladiators

A3 I try to be aware of what others perceive of my actions & words. Body language speaks volumes. Kids are always watching even when we think they are not. #edugladiators
I’m also chewing on how I can be more kind and empathetic to myself. I’m often my worst critic. I don’t think of myself with too much kindness or empathy. #EduGladiators
It is a way to encourage families to ask questions of each other and avoid losing their stories. With kids from over 40 countries, we are hoping for some real gems! #edugladiators

Not corny at all! I use a Franklin Planner and it has been a difference maker in helping me prioritize my big rocks. It allows me to ensure that I am putting first things first, like my faith and family. Thanks for the insight!! #EduGladiators
A1: This might sound corny but I look at my planner. I use the old school planner to write out what I call the rough draft of teaching and follow it up with Google Calender. I find it helps me to recap how the day went. At times, it can be tedious but it helps. #edugladiators
A2. I plan on helping seniors actually take action to achieve their post HS goals. Schools do a good job of graduating Ss but then what? Some Ss are so focused on passing tests/earning credits that what happens after graduation is not their focus. #EduGladiators
A3. We must model kindness and positivity. ex. When we had unfilled subs on Wednesday, I was the sub for ELA and later PE. This allowed our teachers to not lose their plan and sub. Small things cause big results. #edugladiators
A3: I pose Q's if I hear negative thinking or talk, like "well what could be going on there" or "what's behind that behavior". I also try to lead by example. Actions stpeak louder than words...ESPECIALLY w/ kindess & empathy #edugladiators
As educators we have a lot of passion and heart. We take everything personal because we are so invested in what we do, but the power that exists w/in extending grace towards ourselves is huge #EduGladiators
I’m also chewing on how I can be more kind and empathetic to myself. I’m often my worst critic. I don’t think of myself with too much kindness or empathy. #EduGladiators
A3) We frequently have class discussions on kindness & respect. I model the same behavior I'd like to see in my Ss (forgiveness; respect; patience, etc.). #Edugladiators
A3) These are things we intentionally discuss daily. Modeling is the most powerful tool we have. @WTASailServices will be having an afternoon soft skills bootcamp. Learning & time for practice. #EduGladiators
A3: I try to walk the walk in my building. I model capacity building by talking openly with my teachers and with kids. #relationshipsmatter and I try to build them up every day. #EduGladiators
A2. I am trying to educate educators about the equity so they can be better able to empower Ss voice, value and respect so Ss can learn and achieve. My platform is @RutgersIISA#EduGladiators
Great point. I read once that we would never be friends with someone who talks to us the way we talk to ourselves. That was a real eye-opener. #edugladiators
A4 Remember, the To Do List never ends in this field. So, do what you can, follow your North Star, and enjoy what you do. Remember the great Rita Pierson. #EduGladiators
A4 I would say: Be who YOU are. Do not try to copy others. We need more of you in education. It's hard work, but amazing and rewarding work and YOU are part of it. Never doubt in your abilities because you are what students need. Keep sharing love & kindness daily. #EduGladiators
A3: i have worked with parks and recreation in Fort Wayne, IN, and while working there we emphasize kindness and empathy by keeping it a top priority and having a zero tolerance for rudeness and abrupt comments, students will always lift one another up! #EduGladiators
A3: Empathy is one of the four most valuable qualities embedded into the foundation of any successful school. We get there when the principal and ed team LIVES kindness and empathy daily. Balances great w high expectations for all. #EduGladiators
A3: “Knowing” deepens empathy and kindles kindness, so I make knowing a priority with Smiles and Frowns—every single day. I know it’s perhaps a tired tune I sing, but nothing else has ever transformed my classroom culture than this simple daily do. #edugladiators
This is SO TRUE! Just yesterday I was feeling heartbroken & defeated because of what my Ss deal w/ outside of school. I know I can't control everything, but it can wear you down if you're not careful. #EduGladiators
A3 I model it in EVERY interaction, decision and call it out- transparency is so important!!! It is an expectation for everyone. You don’t have to be the best in the world and you can be the best for the world/ our school/ each other;) #schoolHAPPINESScounts#EduGladiators
#EDUgladiators Mindfulness is contagious. A smile of recognition, words of encouragement, fist bumps and eye contare all so important. 1-minute check ins with my students keeps me connected with them -talking about kindness & mindfulness makes a difference-model & inspire
A3: If we want to place emphasis on kindness and empathy, then I think we have to dedicate the time and energy to making it a part of our day to day routine. Notice, announce, and model kindness and empathy everyday #EduGladiators
A2. Several of my students and I are exchanging books this month that we feel would help us grow. One of my students shared with me the biography of Norman Borlaug and I've been able to share some of my top reads. By reading we can light our fires!! #EduGladiators
A4: Take that 1 thing, action, comment, student work, etc. and let it light that fire in you to persevere because the difference for the Ss is immeasurable #edugladiators
A3: One of the best ways we can encourage empathy is model empathy. Think twice (or 3 times) before we respond in tense situations. LISTEN well and be present as we listen. It can be hard but it's worth it. #EduGladiators
A4) Maybe not very inspiring, but when faced w/a HUGE task, I always remember the saying, "How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time." It helps me to not feel overwhelmed by huge tasks & or projects. #Edugladiators
A4 Remember, the To Do List never ends in this field. So, do what you can, follow your North Star, and enjoy what you do. Remember the great Rita Pierson. #EduGladiators
Great point! I am so, so guilty of this. I have a hard time w/ accepting compliments and not being so hard on myself. An area I really need to work on. #EduGladiators
Great point. I read once that we would never be friends with someone who talks to us the way we talk to ourselves. That was a real eye-opener. #edugladiators
A3: A big change this year, I stand at the door and tell me kids good morning with a fist bump. I have found that the kids are connecting with me or is it the other way around? I work the crowd chating with as many kids as I can within first few minutes. #edugladiators

A4: May not qualify as wisdom but we need to remember you cannot pour from an empty cup. So, #FillYourCup and stay away from the negativity lest it bring you down! #edugladiators
A4: Words of encouragement - during times of stress, endless paperwork, new learning etc focus on the why. Our littles. We teach because it is a calling and we are wonderful - keep the energy going for our littles working to be their best. #Edugladiators
A4- Remember YOUR WHY! When it gets hard, remember it's about the relationships you build and all about doing what's best for KIDS! They need you! #edugladiators
A4) Learn Through The Obstacles rather than Live Through The Situation. You are making a greater impact than you know and your capacity is being increased to shape the lives of the future. #EduGladiators
A3: To model it - to be what you want to see in others, to recognize it in others - and show appreciation for it, to intervene when the opposite is displayed. #edugladiators
A4: When faced with turbulent seas, stay focused on your North Star: the kids! Let that be a filter for you. Run everything through the question: what's best for kids? https://t.co/u4aSQQEJz5#edugladiators
A4: a great way to motivate others is teaching/showing them to get excited about the little moments in education. It’s not always easy to see big results as a teacher but if you celebrate the little milestones along the way it gets you excited to move forward #EDUgladiators
A3: Kindness is a daily focus in our classroom! We support classmates w/ cheers & our words! We participate in kindness challenges & look for ways to spread kindness through #globalcollaboration!! We’re currently challenging others to create a #KindnessBucketList! #edugladiators
A4. Creating positive change must involve creating sustainable change - this requires building leaders and a culture focused on kids. Don’t chase individual awards but helping others to be more. #edugladiators
So true. We can be feeling stressed because of something else, & if it comes through in our tone or body language, they'll take it personally. #edugladiators

A3: I greet people with a smile and by name which, according to the recipients, encourages them to do the same. When I ask, “How are you doing today?”, I listen for an answer and respond appropriately. Modeling empathy or caring is vital. #EduGladiators
Thank you, it is funny how an idea comes to you. I had a few students who wanted to chat about grades. I thought it would be help to just do a sit down. Middle School has parent/teacher conferences. I could do the same and perhaps motivate a few. #edugladiators

A3 #EduGladiators Empathy is something that gets forgotten sometimes in the bustle of school-but using SEL strategies to help instill humility, patience, & collaboration is so important-an awesome student is sitting in our class and we need to help them in all aspects of learning
A3. I believe that kindness is contagious & is a culture. I will first set the example by being kind & showing empathy without seeking recognition or rewards or bragging about it. If it is truly in your heart others will see it & many will take action. #EduGladiators
A4: my 180 mantra: Do. Reflect. Do Better. All we can do, and really it’s all we need to do. We just have to keep chasing our next better. Better beats best. Best is an end. Better is a next. #project180#edugladiators
A4: In the small, quiet moments, you can make the greatest difference. Small smiles. Small gestures of kindness. Quiet words of encouragement. You can do this. #EduGladiators
A4 Teaching is the hardest profession. Having really dedicated and caring teachers make the load more bearable. Let's lift each other up when needed. #EduGladiators

A4 Remind Ts that they are doing a great job and of the importance of that. Their Ss count on them. Ts truly make a difference. For some students, their teachers will be the only thing in their lives that makes a difference. That's pretty powerful to think about #EduGladiators
A4: we spend so much time thinking about what we have to do, that it’s easy to forget the why. Spend time talking, writing, or thinking about why we do this work. Among all the nonsense is the need to remember the mission #edugladiators#YouGotThis
A4: Start each day with a new outlook on life. Everyone deals with stuff that weighs us down, try to bounce back from those feelings. The weight of the world is not on your shoulders but you do have a big part to play in making this world a little better every day. #EDUgladiators
A4: Many good phrases out there for inspiration, I would say that remember to take of yourself first. As educators, we give so much of ourselves at time that our own life can get lost in the shuffle. We are no good to our kids, if we aren't in the right mindset. #edugladiators

A4: have fun. Sure, some schools still operate as designed - “institutions” that do not embrace change easily. Might as well have some fun within these confines. #EduGladiators
A4: I heard in a podcast recently "you GET to go to work". Using #mindset and re-framing thoughts from 'HAVE to's' into 'GET to's' can make a big difference in motivation, empathy, kindness & enjoyment while working! #edugladiators
I so agree with this! In my opinion, this is the most important part of education. We aren't just educating our Ss on academics. There's the whole social & emotional aspect that we should not ignore. #Edugladiators
A4: YOU MATTER!!!
When days get tough, remember your why! You were called into this profession and make a difference, even when you don’t see it or feel it! Keep fighting the good fight... there’s a S that needs YOU to make that difference in their life! #edugladiators
A4 Begin each day appreciating everything (good and not so good). Continue this throughout the day - watch how your perspective and attitude changes for the better #edugladiators
#EDUgladiators Yes. I agree. If we don’t see every aspect of our students we can make sure they feel safe, they are nourished, they are happy. If we want to truly make a difference we need to understand all their quirks and challenges and help them cope with struggle
Also goes along with ACEs: Adverse Childhood Experiences (trauma). This can affect not only Ss but staff as well & letting this be in our minds creates a space for empathy to flourish #EduGladiators
Love this! Mindset has so much to do with all that we do. I love that attitude that we "get" to go to work. There's a lot of people out there looking for work, & we r not only employed, but we GET to do something we love. #Edugladiators
A4: Let us not be weary in welldoing! We’ll reap the rewards of our teaching if we don’t faint! Students need us to persist and persevere. If we faint physically & mentally, we’ll never produce people who can stand on their own. #EduGladiators
Agreed #EDUgladiators I have missed it for so long because I am often at work or a Quiz Bowl tournament with my students - today though - time as I pack after my conference
Thank you @NowakRo & @MrCoachEli for reminding us how important it is to take care of ourselves & our colleagues. Important lessons today in the arena! #edugladiators
A4. The true power we have as educators is our ability to impact the lives of children. We actually impact the future of the world! Also, I believe that there is at least 1 child out there that will not make it without our intervention. Find that child! #EduGladiators
#EDUgladiators Yes. I agree. If we don’t see every aspect of our students how we can make sure they feel safe, they are nourished, they are happy. If we want to truly make a difference we need to understand all their quirks and challenges and help them cope with struggle
Exactly! The whole child really matters, & we need to pay attention to the whole child. The academics don't really matter if we are ignoring the other aspects, in my opinion. #edugladiators
I live with a house full of coaches and athletes and this is so true. How do we break things down after our lessons and look at what's needed to raise academic achievement? #EduGladiators#LeadLap#joyfulleaders
In the sports world, game film is analyzed after a game to figure out how to improve. How often do we do this as leaders? It must be as important to us in the world of education as it is in the world of sports! #ASCDCEL
Thank you @MrCoachEli@NowakRo for your kick off to this motivation series! #edugladiators always gives me tools to grow & evolve as an educator for the betterment of my profession! Love that I was introduced to this last spring by @mgrosstaylor#thankful
#EDUgladiators I 💯 agree - if the engine is working & the brakes are functional but the body of the car is not-the vehicle is not drivable. The framework needs to be connected & collaborative-that is when it is driving & discovering all the amazing scenery learning has to offer
Tie dye team-building was a hit with my students! Got a group to wear them to school and they all love how they turned out! Ownership of their class community & building relationships was worth the extra time & effort at home #edugladiators#tlap#PLN365#learnlap@LISShines
