Dan, I am a student who is currently experiencing a flipped classroom, and for me it's more frustrating then helpful. What advice would you have for me on trudging through this? #flipclass
Tonight we’re talking about “Awesome In-class Activity”. Our main chat will be in #flipclasschat. We use a Q1/A1 format. Please include A’s and the hashtag in your responses to Q’s to keep the chat flowing. #flipclass Thanks @matthew_t_moore for the Qs!
Hey #flipclass Justin, HS math, i think this is my 4th year flipping, my hometown hosts a "Fermentation Fest" focused on all things fermented from yogurt to sauerkraut to fermented beverages #flipclasschat
#flipclasschat A1: So many different ways you can review content learned. Loved the review games. Ss made up review games. Did one with a class that was like the Olympic sport curling. S got the Q right, and they got to push the rolling chair at a target for points. #flipclass
Given a set of situations rank them from greatest to least (applied force, distance traveled, height reached...) Then defend your answer. #flipclass#flipclasschat
A1: My in-class activities are a place where I want to improve. I understand that Ss need time to practice with the content, but I want to incorporate more active learning strategies #flipclass#flipclasschat
I fall in this camp also. Ss who need the lesson will go back and watch when they need it. Others get the idea when they do the activities. #flipclass#flipclasschat
A2: I always have some sort of device (iPads, Chromebooks, etc...) and headphones in my room for Ss to use if they haven't watched the video. Need to watch before you can get to work. #flipclass#flipclasschat
#flipclasschat#flipclass Usually, I have them jump in. From there I take it on a case by case basis, trying to figure out where they are and what needs to happen next.
A3 My flipped tasks are on the low-order Blooms: Recall + a bit of Understanding.
In-class activities should push higher: slightly-deeper Understanding, Applying, a bit of Analyzing

A3 at the college level I don't have as many toys as I had for HS. Activities center around discussions and problem solving in small groups. Discussion makes it good. #flipclasschat#flipclass
A3: One where students learn. Whether it is an activity, practice work or a project, it shouldn't matter what students are doing as long as learning is happening. #flipclasschat
#flipclasschat A3: Agree with @flipping_A_tchr, vids are low level Bloom's, which allows for more higher order in class. Taking the content and applying it is usually where I go first. #flipclass
A4 I have always wanted to do explore-flip-apply. Have to figure out how to get the time for explore and what would be the hook. #flipclass#flipclasschat
I keep trying this one. I used badges for those ungradable things like great discussion, participation, not goofing on a sub day. #flipclass#flipclasschat
#flipclasschat A4: Like games, and like the idea of gamification in the classroom. Never could quite wrap my head around how to pull it off with my classes.
Q5 What Idea that you heard this evening, idea you have been waiting to try is making its debut in your class this week? #flipclass#flipclasschat (redux with big green circle cue)
A1 another flexible task is for students to make Twitter or Instagram profiles (on paper) based on what they have learned. I got some great Insta-posts last month "from" philosophers like John Locke and Thomas Hobbes!

Exit ticket: Have unanswered question, topic idea, want to help moderate...here’s the survey. https://t.co/uTbydDdl7c#flipclasschat#flipclass We'd love to have some new voices. I know you guys have great things to share!
Thank you all for sharing your thoughts on classroom activities tonight. Some great ideas out there in #flipclass! Have a wonderful week! #flipclasschat
