Hello #HISDAdminChat!!! So excited for another season of learning from our districts’ leaders! My guilty pleasure this summer was long naps with my baby Blue! Just look at him ♥️

Hi everyone! Been lurking #HISDAdminChat for a bit and happy to join tonight. Eileen from Patterson ES and my summer guilty pleasure was relaxing on the couch with Netflix and reading for fun.
Kristy principal of @Codwell. My guilty pleasure was sleeping in durin my Houston staycation. Oh and turning off my notifications from my work email. #HISDAdminChat
A1: During the summer, I took care of myself and my family to recharge and be ready for the new school year. I really needed to rest and reflect on my school year.

Q1 A1 #HISDAdminChat I have to read! I never get time to read during the school year and the summer is my time to indulge in professional and personal choice books. It helps me reset! Finished #culturize and re-read #shiftingthemonkey.
Meagan Edwards and I am the proud Principal of Grissom ES!!!! My guilty summer pleasure is sugary snowcones and trashy reality shows #theymakemylifeseemlessdysfunctional
A1) Besides not setting an alarm I try to just engage in lots of face-to-face conversations. Reflect, predict, ruminate, laugh - doesn’t matter to me as the relationship time is what refreshes me the most. #HISDAdminChat
A1: During the summer, I unplugged on Saturday and Sunday to recharge my battery and make sure to love extra on my family before school starts #HISDAdminChat
A1: I tried to put the iphone down and meet people face to face instead. It was great! but must admit I completely love the convenience of virtual learning with people across the nation #hisdadminchat

Hello!!! Haven’t been here for a while. Thought I’d start the year off right with you all! I’m Jessie from @DeChaumesESHISD 😊sorry I’m late!! #HISDAdminChat

A1: During the summer, I anxiously waited to finish my doctorate program to finally take a cruise and spend time with my loved ones. Best way to recharge and be ready for the new school year! #HISDAdminChat
A2-I think there has to be a balance. Not only during summertime but when we are back as well. Don’t let one over take the other. Still a learning process for me #HISDAdminChat
A2: I honestly couldn’t choose. I think the summer is long enough to do both. It’s important to unplug from work but the summer is also the perfect time to plan when there’s no one else around to distract you. #HISDAdminChat
That’s a tough one as a leader I feel like I’m always learning and my brain never stops. We have to listen to our bodies and take time for self care. #HISDAdminChat
A2- Learning. I feel like I get lost in the whirlwind of the school year and learning is more about urgency rather than intentional improvement #hisdadminchat
A2) I try to have both. The last two summers I use June for learning and July for relaxing. Though they aren’t musically exclusive, of course. However it’s usually my attack plan. Unless I just don’t feel like it 😜✌️🤓 #HISDAdminChat
A2: 5 years ago I would have said learning, but now definitely recharging. I’ve “learned” recharging leads to better ideas and planning when its time to start up again. #HISDAdminChat
A2: I always try to do a bit of both, but I really needed time to recharge this summer, more than anything. Learning can take place anywhere, so I read, read, read! #HISDAdminChat
A2: I would say summer vacation definitely to recharge and but the rest of my summer I enjoy learning by reading or attending several training. There is a moment when your brain needs a time break #HISDAdminChat

A2: I think recharging is so important in terms of readying your mind to learn ... and you learn a lot from recharging. I did my best reflecting while exploring Canada earlier this summer! #HISDAdminChat
That’s a tough one because I think both are essential. But if I had to pick one it would be time to recharge. I believe spending a little time on self care makes the rest of your time more productive than it would be otherwise! #HISDAdminChat
A1: During the summer, I anxiously waited to finish my doctorate program to finally take a cruise and spend time with my loved ones. Best way to recharge and be ready for the new school year! #HISDAdminChat
A2: I would rather just have time to recharge. With all of the education policies that never make sense and trying fill Grand Canyon sized gap time to recharge is not a luxury but a necessity! #HISDAdminChat
That’s a tough one as a leader I feel like I’m always learning and my brain never stops. We have to listen to our bodies and take time for self care. #HISDAdminChat
A3: Feeling so ready for pre-service, excited to see all my staff, students and parents! We still have a lot of work to do but we’ll be building on what we worked so hard on last year #HISDAdminChat
A1. Travel, work a little to keep prepared, and focus more intently on my “me” time. #HISDAdminChat whoops forgot to add the hashtag, so this response is gonna be out of order!
A2 I feel like the summer has to have time for learning and recharge. Having my girl makes me feel guilty to dedicate time for work though. But if I am@not working I feel guilty as well @🤷♀️ #HISDAdminChat
Stepping out. Blessing to everyone this year. May God watch over you and your family. May He give you strength, wisdom, and courage in order to help the children that come through your school doors. Never forget #YouMatter#HISDAdminChat
A3 I'm super excited about this school year. I feel as if year 17 will be filled with amazing opportunities for me and the community I serve. #HISDadminchat
....soooo it looks like I missed all of the #HISDAdminChat action, but I was able to jump in and answer the questions. I'm really digging the 3 question style. Pretty cool. Have an amazing week, guys!
To add to the irony, I don't see this as a Top Trend on the home page. I've seen 100s of Tweets about this all day yet #HISDAdminChat makes the list and this doesn't? You must be kidding.
A2: I like to have a mixture of both recharge and learning. I don’t usually allow myself to recharge and I feel it will make a difference this year. #HISDAdminChat
Q2: Would you rather have a summer filled with learning or just time to recharge? I truly feel that you can recharge as your retool, so learning is the best way to go! #HISDAdminChat
