#LangChat is dedicated to the discussion of topics associated with issues and trends in world language instruction and learning. Educators, administrators, learners, and aficionados of world languages are encouraged to participate and share their experiences and input on various topics such as new ways to teach vocabulary, using music in the language classroom, and making standards-based grading valid. This chat is also unique in that it brings together language educators worldwide and from different contexts (elementary, secondary, higher education, etc.) and languages.
I was just realizing today how frustrated I was that my students weren’t asking or answering questions, and it’s my fault. I didn’t teach them how. So we stepped back and talked about it and now I know!! #langchat
Heritage speakers in the L2 class are a great reminder of why we teach that language. Let’s treat them with respect, let’s empower them and open opportunities for their future. #langchat
Yes! Thank you for saying this! #langchat I feel like there are stepping stones to tasks. My students need steps in order to climb higher to the task. The task is the summative. #langbook
A4 I don't feel that students always need to know. I feel that if they have a good base, they can build on that. Quality over quantity. @PRHSspanish#langchat
I have @MmeBlouwolff to thank for teaching me this. I actually was crying at the end and they thought I was crying because they did poorly. I was so proud I forgot to video (which I needed for my SMART Goal evidence!) #langchat#langbook
Language learning (and language instruction) is basically the Hokey Pokey. You gotta put it in before your students can take it out. Fill ‘em up with comprehensible input and eventually they’ll take the language out. That’s what it’s all about. #ci#langchat
