Welcome to our #K12Talent chat - I'm happy you could join us this evening! Please take a moment to introduce yourself.
We'll use the A1, A2, A3 answer format and the #K12Talent hashtag for our discussion. I'm looking forward to sharing #socialmedia and technology ideas together!
Hello! I'm Charlie Hutzler and I get to serve as the Assistant Principal for Norris High School (@NHS_Titans) in southeast Nebraska. Good to "see" everyone!
#K12Talent
#K12Talent Q2: I have begun to use Twitter and have participated in #IASPAchat. I have not been as active on LinkedIn. Always looking for ideas as I am not part of the "social media generation".
A2-Social Media has taken off in my district. We have a district hashtag #engage109 that has many followers. All positions are posted to Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram. We also created "A Minute:9 in 109" as a social branding tool for the HR Department. #K12Talent
Q2: Using social media to connect and grow my PLN especially through @_IASPA_ and @_AASPA_ , post positions and share the good news of our district! #k12talent
A2. I use SM extensively (especially Twitter) and love to use it daily for sharing the good things happening. Jobs get posted on-line regularly too. #K12Talent
A3. I don't have anything creative to offer, but our #EdFinChat pals have reached other school business people internationally. Their @EdFinChat handle has generated many followers and they use Twitter polls to generate topics. #K12Talent
Dale, I love the use of a hashtag to brand your district. Great way to easily find news and posts...and a job posting! Congrats to the HR department on the social branding!
There are some creative uses of social media out there!
Q3: What is a creative use of social media you have seen that was designed to reach a particular audience?
#K12Talent
A2. In addition to recruiting and branding, I’ve started to see HR using social media to promote employee programs such as wellness initiatives #K12Talent
A2. It's important to use SM to expand our networks beyond the traditional networks. I learn so much from people in other fields and other industries. #K12Talent
A3-We moved from passive to active in our recruiting of #K12Talent. Our biggest leap was the Minute:9 in 109 concept, which is a sixty-nine second snippet of great instruction and leadership happening in 109. We also attach building-based marketing videos to all postings.
Q3: In our #IASPAchat last week, I learned (and will be stealing @DaleFisherEdD's ideas!) what our IL colleagues are doing via social media! The short videos via Snapchat and instagram stories are powerful visuals to showcase a district #k12talent
A2: I’ve seen schools post jobs on Twitter, share from board meetings on Facebook and many more. As parents and applicants for jobs are increasingly digital natives, it’s a must generally and for HR. Also makes SM background research on candidates more organic #K12Talent
A3: I think using social media to target job seekers is perfect for #K12Talent and research shows it helps to reach more diverse audiences. I think I learned this research from @KateHeynoski
With the integration of Instagram and Facebook, it is easy to post the image/video in IG, then simply have it cross-post to Facebook within the app! #K12Talent#protip
Have a little fun - say it with images!
Q4: Utilizing a GIF or emoji(s), how would you rate your ENTHUSIASM for #socialmedia use in your work? #K12Talent
We have several #NE clients using school-based Snapchat filters — great way to engage kids (even if parents are still a little behind in Snapping) #K12Talent
A3. Lots of opportunity to share news directly with fun images. We also have used hashtags devoted to specific events. Makes for easier sharing later as well. #K12Talent
A4-DPS109 is rolling along and feeling good about the big steps we've taken with social media. Sidenote: If you begin to seriously track where candidates are becoming aware of your postings, the data regarding social media will surprise you and force you to rethink. #K12Talent
A5: I still love #Facebook to keep up with friends and family but I go to #Twitter for a little #PD and to catch the news. I use #LinkedIn for great blogs and motivation. Never put anything on any of my accounts my grandmother would not approve of #K12Talent
A5-My favorite does not correlate to the best. I love Instagram because of the picture usage but Twitter gets the most hits for us now because of our hashtag. #K12Talent

A6-Twitter is the social media tool that forced me to rethink everything. The connections and #PLN I have made on Twitter and the professional development that has followed is powerful #K12Talent
A7. I added a recruiting “chat bot” to our employment website - captures info from visitors to our site that we may not have known about if we didn’t have a position posted for them to apply to #K12Talent
A7: We utilize @Twittimer to schedule our marketing #Tweets. It really helps to market the Webinar program and great for sponsorship #Recognition too #K12Talent
Q8: It’s a great way to get info out quickly. I think many of our client Schools and ESUs have come to expect to look at SM for our blog posts, quick updates, etc. Added bonus is making a lawyer fit an update into 280 characters 🤦🏻♂️ #K12Talent
A6. I love using Twitter to grow the @_IASPA_#PLN. I have met so many wonderful people through co-moderating the #IASPAchat with @DaleFisherEdD and learn from so many experts! #K12Talent
Q6 Still too early to tell. Hoping it will be @Twitter but I really don't know where we will be with the digital natives in the next few years. We are actually talking about adding #esports as a way to engage kids in the very near future. #K12Talent

A7-For me it's not what you would think. The best tool my system has leveraged is the use of Google Apps for Education. The ability to seamlessly and efficiently share real time working data/knowledge has saved me hours of time/effort per week. #K12Talent
A8-We are heavy users of a digital interview tool in order to make face-to-face meetings with candidates performance based. The tool is called RIVS and although I'm in love with it, I know we've only scratched the surface. #K12Talent
A7 Tech is an integral part of the #HR job. The smartphone with its 24/7/365 accessibility is the single biggest asset and at times challenge. #K12Talent
A9-Continue to get involved in any #PLN opportunity that is available. F2F is always helpful but our #HR network is often times few and far between. I rely heavily on the various Twitter chats that exist to connect with those who can help support me. #K12Talent#IASPAchat
Use SM as a tool to connect in real life. There's a reason it has the word "social" in it. Without the real life connection, we could all be each other's imaginary friends! #K12Talent

A9: Final Words - @CAHutzler is so cool and we would really love to have him back to host another #K12Talent#edchat - Also I think there is a future for you in #K12HR

You #K12Talent people are awesome! Thanks for what you do, for sharing your insights, and for joining in the chat tonight! That's all for now - stay connected!
A9. Please, please, please make sure you’re thinking about your audiences (and what platforms ppl are actually using and how) when you select A channel to share messages... please.
Please!!!!!!!

A9. Chats are great ways to connect people.Using @TweetDeck helps people navigate chats & schedule tweets in advance. It's always helpful to share questions in advance w/ times next to them so people can prepare for the questions ahead of time. TY for this great topic! #K12Talent
