A1: To be the example of a Ridge Point football player on and off the field. They should be a voice for the players to the coaches, and also people the players can trust to be there for them #TXHSFBCHAT
A2: Captains usually meet weekly. I meet with the Leadership Council, which the captains are also on, biweekly. The agenda I use covers any team issues and talk about ways they can show leadership in practice and the game #TXHSFBCHAT
A3: Yes we do. The council consists of Varsity and JV players. We want them to become like player-coaches and take ownership of the team to help build up the team #TXHSFBCHAT
A4: I think its more about what they will take on. Would love to see the captains and team leaders take on more roles of holding their teammates accountable, helping decide team issues and team activities, etc. It all depends on their maturity and commitment level #TXHSFBCHAT
I would share a captain's pleasure with them and have them sign off on it. It included our core values and also the expectation for them to be role models on and off the court.

It really depends on the players you have and how much they are ready to do. It varies from year to year, but we also started the idea of having mentorship so you could have a captain in training to learn from sr. captains. That helped a lot.

A5: We have not, but this is something I think about at times. There are players who don't seem interested, or ready to be leaders who knew how to say the right things in the interview, but haven't followed through #TXHSFBCHAT
