Good evening! Welcome to #AppleEDUchat. Please introduce yourself and share one of your most memorable learning experiences from school and why was it so meaningful to you.
Hi, I’m Alison Porter and I am a student at the University of Oklahoma. I just became certified as an Apple teacher and can’t wait to leave more #AppleEDUchat hat
Brian Phillips, Holtville, CA 6th grade teacher. Not sure if it was a personal learning experience, but I was a band geek in high school and I got to play in the band for President Reagan. It made what I was doing meaningful. #AppleEDUChat
Hello! Felecity from Wisconsin! In 6th grade, my Language teacher had us write commercials for a persuasive unit. Loved that we had freedom to create! #AppleEDUchat
Good evening! Welcome to #AppleEDUchat. Please introduce yourself and share one of your most memorable learning experiences from school and why was it so meaningful to you.
Hello Friends! I’m Jeremy a 3rd grade teacher from Lakeport Elementary School in Lakeport CA. Super excited to be here. Best memory of a lesson was my first lesson getting to use an Apple IIc. That was my first step into the world of technology. #AppleEDUChat
Chris, personalized learning specialist from super snowy Minnesota - My most memorable learning experiences were in science class because everything we learned applied to a hands-on lab every week #AppleEDUchat
Megan Randolph, 7th grade Math teacher. My most memorable learning experiences was in HS when my Chemistry teacher stood up on his lab table to teach us the periodic table. I will never forget his carbon dance. #AppleEDUchat
Hello! Mesha Daniel, Innovative Learning Specialist from El Paso. I love learning new ways to help students be successful not only in the classroom, but in life! #appleEDUchat
Hi everyone! I’m Michelle an instructional tech coach from the south burbs of Chicago...surviving the ice hitting our house. Favorite experience...I loved Oregon Trail! #AppleEDUchat
A1: To be an experience, I think learning needs to be connected to real world issues or problems that need solving, or at least something students care about #AppleEDUchat
Kathy Miller from a snowy Wisconsin. Favorite memory 4th grade documented a bird nest with a drawing journal. We didn’t get a grade in the drawing rather the stories that we could tell. #AppleEDUchat
A1: When learning is meaningful, it transcends the standards being taught. It goes beyond the classroom and has a lifelong impact. I don't remember the worksheets I did in 11th grade, but I remember the projects I did in 5th grade. #AppleEDUChat
Hey #AppleEDUChat! I think my most memorable experiences always invoked creativity - designing a magazine, choreographing a dance, or writing my own lyrics to a song. I’m most engaged when I can explore my own questions and create.
A1: to be an experience the kids need to interact with the content and discover the meaning for themselves. The lesson comes from their experience, not at them from a text or lecture. #AppleEDUchat
Hello & good evening everyone! I’m Robin Pence, EdTech Coach & Educator from Las Vegas, NV. One of my most memorable learning experiences - would have to be when my English teacher in HS got up on his desk & wore a mask as he read to us as Beowulf! #AppleEDUchat
A1: giving students the opportunity to figure things out on their own and show leadership. Connecting/Collaborating with others to enhance the learning #AppleEDUchat
😍Kristen from Atlanta K12 Instructional Tech Specialist. I used to finish my work as fast as possible to play Lemonade Stand and Oregon Trail on the Apple II e @AppleEDU#AppleEDUchat
A1: For learning to be an experience, I think Ss need to have a connection personally to what they’re doing. It needs to be something that they are truly passionate learning about in a way that best helps them learn. #AppleEDUchat
A1: I think motivation, and active participation of the students. I also think that it’s important that we let them choose within several activities, which one to do. #AppleEduChat
A1 I think the students have to have a personal tie to the lesson. Maybe looking for a solution to a community problem. It needs a hands on experience. These two factors can really enhance the activity.
#EveryoneCanCreate#AppleEDUchat
Q1 Anytime you have real world engagement it become a learning experience. It makes learning meaningful to all those involved including the facilitator. #AppleEDUchat
I'm a few minutes late. Cheryl from Mi, K-6 Media Specialist I have memories from 1st grade when our teacher let us dance, run a class store and learn by doing. #appleeduchat
Learning how to observe, take in information, make sense of what you see and determine how the whole experience impacts you and the world around you is such a powerful life skill. #AppleEDUchat
Q2: How have you fostered student communication skills (visual, non-verbal, verbal, written, listening) through learning experiences? Please share specific ideas, strategies, and/or technology tools you recommend. #appleeduchat
@kudrna1stgrade search #AppleEDUChat , read along and hit the feather button when ready to tweet! Also - choose”latest” at the top when searching the chat!
A1: Why was it a memorable learning experience? My teacher brought it to life for us, helped us out ourselves into the story - it was exciting! #AppleEDUchat
I think “sciencing aloud”…talking about my own curiosities in the learning. Showing that no-one has all the answers. We build understanding together. Plus…using wicked cool tools in learning helps! #AppleEDUchat
At the beginning of the year, I ask them and try to make connections to those topics throughout the year. I also think showing them they have the power to make change happen inspires them to care more :) #AppleEDUchat
For an activity to be a memorable experience for students, they need to be actively involved and care about the product/outcome - it needs to extend beyond the teacher #appleeduchat
COMMUNICATION IDEAS: research & draw infographics using #everyonecancreate resources then make public; utilize online editing tools such as https://t.co/bt9yAb6KuZ before publishing; add public audience and experts; try socratic circles; teach visual design #AppleEDUChat
A1 I think you move from a lesson to an experience when you identify, explore, and design creative solutions to real-world problems that you care about. And when you connect with others to broaden your perspective and build empathy. #AppleEDUChat
I wrote my first "check" in 5th grade after my teacher walked the class down to the bank where we all were given "check books". I still remember the floral cover mine had and how if I didn't do my job I didn't get paid. #AppleEDUchat
Hi all - Marc Drumm, Senior Instructional Designer at West Chester University near Philadelphia. We argued with our HS Physics teacher that, no matter how many times we built and used a machine to throw a BB across the room… #AppleEDUchat
...we would never be able to accurately calculate where it would land. She built, launched, and landed it on a quarter on the first try in under 3 minutes. #AppleEDUchat
Sketchnotes has been a way for students to practice their listening & close reading skills & create visual representations of text, videos, & speeches #appleeduchat
A2: #appleEDUChat as an ELA teacher I loved video, podcasting, theatre, interviews as ways to foster Student communication skills. iPad is great for all of the above and more.
Q2: How have you fostered student communication skills (visual, non-verbal, verbal, written, listening) through learning experiences? Please share specific ideas, strategies, and/or technology tools you recommend. #appleeduchat
A2: I think it's important to allow students to find their preferred method of communication. Most are able to find their voice using technology, like Garageband, Pages, Keynote, Clips, iMovie... But I think it is important to let the students have a choice. #AppleEDUChat
A2: I like giving students a choice to demonstrate their learning, or include a variety of ways for them to respond. Numbers has been great for students to include media place holders for video, pics, text and sketching. Also resources to look back at. #AppleEDUchat
A2 I have had my Ss use tools like keynote and Clips to visually communicate a message. We have really been working on making sure that Ss understand that what and how they say things online can effect people both positively and negatively.
#AppleEDUchat#EveryoneCanCreate
Hi, my name is Mariana. I am from Mexico. My most memorable experience of learning was the first day of our technology and innovation class, when our teacher prepared to us an Escape Room activity. We worked together and we got to know each other better. #AppleEDUChat
A2: communication is often intimidating for #ELLs. In our class they know it doesn’t need to be scary, we create an environment first, then use picture hunts to find math vocab, Clips to rehearse and record and dictation for typing. #AppleEDUChat
Thats a good term..."sciencing aloud" -- I also love showing how to learn from failures and then making changes based on what you learned. Your sphero lessons are perfect for that!! #AppleEDUchat
A2: Effective science communication is a huge goal that I have for my students. Sketchnotes to show visual thinking is a strategy that I love using. Also, journals in #pages & #keynote have become a great way to build skills. #AppleEDUchat
A2: Showing students the multiple ways they can communicate their ideas! Use dictation, record audio, sketch notes, etc. The iPad has all of the built right in! I think one of the most powerful things we can teach our Ss is to be advocates for their learning! #AppleEDUchat
A2) Young adult choice to communicate once we try different options. Clips, Keynote, GarageBand, sketch noting, green screen @DoInkTweets , @Flipgrid & vlogs #AppleEDUchat
A2 Give Ss the tools then let them share their voice how they want and who to share it with. Tech makes it possible to have an even louder voice! #AppleEDUChat
A2: Scannable app to help with keeping up with documents in Evernote. And Sign Now for when someone needs my signature and I’m on the go! And I wouldn’t know which way was up without Calendar and Notes!! #AppleEDUchat
A2 I am collabing w @MrHowardMath on the comm piece of a cross-curric math/CTE experience. Ss write a Python program to solve quadratic functions, Alg I Ss use program & give feedback. @Flipgrid connects classes & campuses, and learners practice interpersonal comm. #AppleEDUChat
A1 Surprise. Truly exploring the unknown. Making your students stop what they were doing and ask themselves why something is the way it is or how it happened. #AppleEDUchat
A2: I like using FlipGrid to have kids chatting with students outside of our school. This grid has kids from several different countries and states sharing their science backed opinions https://t.co/RQhNRHNw04#AppleEDUchat
A2: Not all students can write, and not all students can speak. Giving them options on HOW they can let you know what they know is the key. Screencastify, iMovie and voice typing for my verbal learners, Educreations and Pages for my artists and writers #AppleEDUchat
A2: There is a power that comes when the learners have a voice beyond the classroom. My students grew so much when they created infographics, video, and interactives to go into an iBook to be published beyond our class. #AppleEDUchat
A1: for me as a teacher and a student, music and movement make everything memorable! Loving garage band and clips or iMovie to engage and hook! #AppleEDUchat
I agree with you that it makes a whole difference when the students care about what you are going to teach. To make them care about we can use videos or tell some real life stories that wake up their interest in the lesson. “No dar pan si no hay hambre” #2019innov#AppleEDUChat
@Flipgrid has given them the practice to feel more comfortable. They are getting more comfortable - can’t wait see where they go next with their vlogs. #AppleEDUchat
In reply to
@shmaynor, @DoInkTweets, @Flipgrid, @Flipgrid
Teaching in the library, I like to use books to promote listening/comm. skills and make connections to real life. Reading The Wild Robot right now and students are creating their own robot habitats inspired by the book and their own creativity. #appleeduchat
A2: My Ss chose to do research on if staying up late and playing video games impacts their learning. (Trying to get me to stop saying go to bed) and I asked what do you do if you don’t know how the words inthe article.. “two finger swipe down.” #AppleEDUchat
A2 Love adding social justice to the mix - such as working with the United Nation #SDG. Let them explore, feel, become empowered and instigate change #MakeADifference#AppleEDUchat Any age learner should feel they have power and voice
The media place holders in Numbers and Pages have been a game changer for our little learners. It allows them to showcase their learning without having to worry about how to "make it show". #AppleEDUchat
A2: fostering communication by removing the risk - encouraging talk-to-text to eliminate frustration and shutting down. Using LOTS of recordings through @Seesaw to engage kids in reading and speaking and sharing! #AppleEDUchat
.A1 Hello! Ana from Mexico!!!...I think creativity, collaboration, and real world connection can turn a lesson into a meaningful learning experience, #AppleEduChat
A2: Flipgrid, Seesaw, Shared documents/presentations, fishbowl activities, team building activities - like marshmallow challenge & building towers of cups w/shared materials are just some of the tools and practices I have used to help foster communication. #AppleEDUchat
A3: Student authored texts and apps build that experience in learning & reinforces the value in deep learning. Each year, we explore Old Woman Creek & build multitouch books and an app this year. Connect community, science, tech, student experience, AND enjoy Earth! #AppleEDUchat
A2 The drawing and audio tools in @AppleEDU iWork allow students to explain their thinking ... I love to have students use metacognitive strategies before and after learning to reflect on their growth. #AppleEDUchat
A3: Students become more responsible for their learning when they are given the opportunity to teach someone else. I try to get Ss to create tutorials on subjects that they are "experts" in. They can use any resource they like to create these tutorials. #AppleEDUchat
A3: We do weekly tech projects. I give them a platform to use, but let them choose the idea/concept to create their project about. Ex. include Clips Instructional Videos and Rap Songs about Integers #AppleEDUchat
A3: Our 3rd grade learners are creating books using Pages Templates and Clips to share the important events in the lives of famous people. They are so excited to share their "book" with others. #AppleEDUchat
A3. I ❤️showcasing student work and encouraging students to share what they created. Many of our schools have digital monitors in the hallways that have student work on them all day long. Many of our grade levels also have fairs open to our school community. #AppleEDUchat
A3 Once I was able to scrounge enough iPads to go 1:1 my students actively create content every day. They have collaborated and created a class photo book of our school. We have created many videos explaining math concepts using clips and iMovie. #AppleEDUchat#EveryoneCanCreate
By offering Ss choice, they can dive into whatever they feel strongly. They meet the learning objectives in the background to becoming agents of change #AppleEDUchat
A3) Young adults have presented at our annual @waukeshaone conference each year. @21stSAIL young adults have posted past work here. Working towards posting this year, hoping they see the potential. #AppleEDUchat
A3: I always thought I was creative, and that showed itself in projects I gave my students. But since becoming 1:1 iPads and the release of Everyone Can Create books, my students are soaring as they find their voice with these books. #AppleEDUChat
A3 Spring-Fever Reading Scratch-Off Literacy Challenge! Ss use #EveryoneCanCreate project guides to complete creation challenges based on the texts they’re reading. They plan, execute, explain, and showcase their process and products in a Pages template to publish! #AppleEDUChat
A3: Working in this daily! @BookCreatorApp is a good start - getting over their shyness in videos and working on changing and challenging community or social issues is next step. #AppleEDUchat
A3: Point of view, how does this literacy skill help of you can just say first or third? But changing the the point of view to another character in the book with Keynote videos. #genius#AppleEDUchat
YESand, Leah! Let Ss become the experts that others can turn to - any age, any level #AppleEDUchat They feel empowered and pass this on to others #StudentAuthors#StudentExperts
A3: I had just gotten to the point in my career when I was allowing Ss to have more choice in demonstrating their understanding. Clips videos for Latin, Passion projects. Then I took a new position.Wish I had the #EveryoneCanCreate resources that are available now! #AppleEDUchat
A3: #PBL! I look for opportunities for students to create class projects that have meaning in the community or world-at-large. Creating projects that matter makes the content mean more. #AppleEDUChat@ThePromMusical#PromForAll
.A2 By giving them choices, let them show their understanding using the tools and apps that make them feel comfortable... create a video, an essay, a journal, a poster, a song, give them freedom to create #AppleEduChat
A2 For written skills: a combination of rubrics and examples. The rubric guides them as they begin working, then afterward, explaining what made a particular student’s submission a good example. We recommend this method for LMS discussion boards. #AppleEDUchat
Most definitely! It’s the tractor pull lesson from @SpheroEdu but I modified it slightly to fit our resources and time frame. Also created the numbers log for students to document their learning. Happy to share if you want to message me with your email. 🤓#AppleEDUChat
In reply to
@booleymac20, @PerkyScience, @SpheroEdu
A3: By being a facilitator and allowing the learners to take ownership and giving them the responsibility to demonstrate their learning or understanding of the learning targets. #AppleEDUchat
A3: FAV QUESTION...Students are currently creating books for iPads we are donating to schools in Sudan, working on a gorilla conservation recycling project, and developing a healthy heart challenge for our campus...kids do amazing work when they see the purpose #AppleEDUchat
A3 Pages has truly allowed us to be awesome creators vs consumers. We love the audio option that allows us to create and share iBooks with friends in our #duallanguage program #AppleEduChat
A3: In our high school we work a lot by projects, for example> In Physics class, students had to build by teams a catapult. With this project they put in practice force, parabolic movement, etc. #AppleEDUChat#2019innov
Your students are amazing… oh wait, its you that’s amazing. It’s unbelievable what your students do for others and learn and produce! #AppleEDUchat#JodieFanGirl
For everyone wondering why we do what we do, and what the power of technology in the classroom is, read what @jdeinhammer 's learners are doing. #AppleEDUchat
A3: Every chance - we get we have integrated #EveryoneCanCreate into our classrooms, students are using #designthinking in developing & designing w/projects they are driving their learning - creativity is flourishing! #AppleEDUchat
Q4: What creative elements have you infused into learning experiences to enhance critical thinking and intellectual independence? #appleEDUchat#EveryoneCanCreate
These kids made a promotional video using Keynote animations explaining why we need to recycle cell phones - they did not do this for a grade..they did it because they said it was FUN.... #AppleEDUchat
Love the audio and drawing features in these. It has allowed my little and challenged learners to create in was they never have been able to before. #AppleEDUchat
A3 were having an amazing time creating bilingual resources that I need for my program, but are hard to come by. My kinder Ss are publishers of content all becuase of Pages
#AppleEduChat
INTELLECTUAL INDEPENDENCE IDEAS: digital documentation of learning - research, engineering, design, writer's notebook, reader's response, etc. Old school spiral to Keynote or Pages or Notes: draw, video, write. foster autonomy in learning process #EveryoneCanCreate#appleEDUchat
CRITICAL THINKING: Consider embedding Systems Thinking to deepen learning -patterns, trends, causes, effects, leverage points. Here is a great resource from the Institute of Play https://t.co/LHcWwNhlVT#AppleEDUchat#everyonecancreate
A3 Changing your assessments is one way - we’ve seen our faculty migrate away from exams to video presentations (live or recorded). Not only are the students being assessed, they’re also learning from each other in the process. #AppleEDUchat
A4: I love engineering/STEAM activities that include design thinking. It’s so interesting to see the different student creations and the thought process that goes into the modifications. #AppleEDUchat
A3: I’ve used simulations to demonstrate different physics concepts but I have shifted where my students can use an iPhone and the native slow motion camera to document motion or the accelerometer to capture motion with other apps! #AppleEDUChat
A4: Giving Ss choice is so important. For example, assigning Ss to create the Periodic Table, and allowing Ss to build it using Minecraft. #AppleEDUchat
A3: Partially by teaching them the tools, but mostly by providing opportunities to create! If we facilitate those opportunities they feel empowered to try something new and become creators #AppleEDUchat
A4) We explore different tools together, then young adults can use them to unleash their creativity. They become more responsive to peer projects, responsible for their own & begin to believe in their creativity. #AppleEDUchat
A4: Have students answer a “deep” question on camera, but have students edit their answers down to a shorter time, for example...20 seconds. Students can move and cut words, but the ultimate answer must demonstrate understanding. #AppleEDUChat
A4: I think the element of design is really big for me. There are several times where I ask them to design a product that will demonstrate learning of a particular topic. I leave it up to them to decide what they want to create to demonstrate their understanding #AppleEDUchat
I agree! Some of our best learning experiences happen during the engineering challenges that I give. Seismic safe building, water pollution pick up, erosion prevention designs, and more…each have so many elements. #AppleEDUchat
A4: I question myself constantly and I encourage my Ss to as well. Use resources, trusting the process, and working collaboratively allows for critical thinking in #AppleEDUchat
A4 I let my students take thier own approach to a solution to a coding problem. I love seeing them working on it independently, but eventually begin to work off one another. Helping each other along the way #AppleEDUchat#EveryoneCanCode
Using Numbers to gather data & photos, draw & write predictions about outcomes, & collaborate with others helps students to develop critical thinking by basing their statements on data & analyzing data #appleeduchat
A4: STEM Challenges and I love incorporating CBL into instruction. So powerful when there isn't necessary a "right" answer. The focus becomes more about the process. #AppleEDUchat
A3: You know the moment when ideas come together?? The moment when concepts suddenly make sense?? It’s so important to not steal that moment by setting them up to consume, rather than create. #AppleEDUchat
A4: drawing is such a powerful way to get students to synthesize their learning and make their thinking visible. For my science labs I have student create a visual procedure (mostly sketches, minimal words) to make meaning of the steps before our experiments #AppleEDUchat
A4: Giving students independence is all about giving them processes, scenarios, and choices. When you do that you can be amazed by the things your students will create #appleeduchat
A4: I’ve become more of a facilitator and less of an instructor. We’ve had our iPads for 4 years now and these kids are much more creative than I am. Once in a while i’ll throw in a new app to see how they do, without instruction. Otherwise it’s all about exploring #AppleEDUchat
When creating Clips videos, students have do some planning to decide what images & video to include & what stickers, posters, soundtracks etc. complement & reinforce their topic/message #appleeduchat#EveryoneCanCreate
Yea, to the exploration! My favorite part when I was a classroom teacher was being a facilitator. I loved seeing students excited to learn! #AppleEDUChat
A4: The idea of having students develop a sensitivity for design was very impactful to my practice. @AgencybyDesign thinking routines have helped my students' intellectual independence by having them find design opportunities, instead of me presenting them. #appleeduchat
A4 definitely lots of art, a little of engineering, and lots of sensory tasks to get meet every childs needs. Nothing a little glue or some yarn can't put back together #AppleEDUchat
A4: Have students answer a “deep” question on camera, but have students edit their answers down to a shorter time, for example...20 seconds. Students can move and cut words, but the ultimate answer must demonstrate understanding. #AppleEDUChat
A4: work in progress - teaching and encouraging students to break the mold through my own risk taking is where I’m at - trying something you’re uncomfortable with to teach something or share something with others...music and movement involved of course #AppleEDUchat
Some of the most powerful learning has come when they are given the choice to show what they have learned. As they consider what will best showcase their knowledge and how to share it out they think deeper about what they do and do not know. #AppleEDUchat
Q5: Being inclusive should just be good teaching. Always give a choice that allows user to carve their own path and be willing to decide personalized assignments to meet every students needs. #appleeduchat
A5: I think it goes back to knowing your learning, providing choice, and helping students stretch their abilities. With 100 different scientists in my room, I need to keep getting better at learning about them sooner. #AppleEDUchat
A5: I try to pick apps that have some ease to them. If I am giving something that they might need guidance, i’ll create a screen recording of me using the app, and some basic features to get them started. From there I love to let my high flyers become tech experts #AppleEDUchat
A2 I like my students to publish to a wider audience. Whether it is posting it online, using @SeeSaw to publish for the class community & parents or creating a site, I want them to know that their voice matters ans should be heard. Now, what do they have to say? #AppleEDUchat
A4: We’ve used Breakouts, had Ss creating their own, have incorporated opportunities across the curriculum for coding, design thinking, 3D design & printing, digital media production, & PBL - where Ss think critically as a part of everyday processes... #AppleEDUchat
Common road block is that some students feel they can’t draw. I often start with the visual alphabet and do a few activities where we breakdown complex shapes into simple ones. #AppleEDUchat
A5: I use rubrics for assignments and then let students pick how they want to meet the requirements. This allows learners to pick what works best for them! Everyone wins! #AppleEDUchat
Oh yes! One of my favorites…I use a 4 X 8 ft stream table with sand, water, and the challenge to prevent erosion from streams, watering can (rain), and waves. LOVE it! #AppleEDUchat
A5 some of my most cherished memories are of my learners joining me over pizza at lunch to design our next unit together. They created magic! #AppleEDUChat
We have a teacher that has used Numbers to guide her learners with challenges as they direct their own ARDs. The audio and drawing features along with image place holders have empowered these learners to be an active part of this process. #AppleEDUchat
A5: Somewhat of a non-sequitur, technology has democratized the learning experience. What use to be an activity for a few(Filmmaking, Music Composition), is now an activity accessible to all learners. #AppleEDUChat#garageband#ClassroomClips
A5 I let my student choose from a variety of options to show my what they have learned. I have a few students who are camera shy so they use the voice recorder app to record their answer and then airdrop that and a picture of their work to me. #AppleEDUchat
A5) Young adults learn, read & express what they know differently. It does take a bit for them to be comfortable with people doing different things. Whether we look or listen to a word by need or by choice no longer matters. It is what we do. #AppleEDUchat
A5: I believe everyone has a strength that can be used in every learning experience in my classroom...its my job to help them figure out how they can purposefully contribute and build their self esteem #AppleEDUchat
A5: Again, it comes down to giving Ss choice and pace options. HMM...sounds like a Blended Learning environment! Allowing Ss to find out what resources they are great at using and helping them discover what to work on EMPOWERS our Ss to know what they need!#AppleEDUchat
A5: Accessibility features are where it’s at, and never underestimate the power of an open-ended question. My #ELLs come up with the best products when there is a rubric and no parameters. #AppleEDUchat
We just got AppleTV this year and I'm not looking back! I have been able to share so much more student work and jump quickly between tools and apps. #appleeduchat
For an activity to be a memorable experience for students, they need to be actively involved and care about the product/outcome - it needs to extend beyond the teacher #appleeduchat
A5: Let’s talk about what I don’t do... I certainly don’t think I know everything and imply perfection on my first draft of a learning experience. I reach out to friends, colleagues, students for feedback before I call it done. #AppleEDUchat
I just love the AppleTV in our classrooms! I am putting on a show and tell for the other Ts at my school so they can see what amazing things you can do with it! #AppleEDUChat
Q5: It is important to take the curriculum and find a way to relate it to the students. From there I try to tie a project or activity that will get the students looking deeper into the content. #AppleEDUChat
A5: To me, a part of being meaningful means whatever a student produces will be seen by others, or make the world a better place. Design thinking helps students make something for another person, and that process is grounded in empathy. #appleeduchat
A5 Inclusion - I think it boils down to choices. I am all about the choices, which way can you show me what you know or be a part of what we are doing? I love to hear their ideas and try to be ultra flexible! #appleeduchat
A5: #AppleEDUchat Publish student work so it’s not just a dialogue between teacher and student. Give it to the world for feedback. Give students choice. Give them time to reflect and improve. So many projects assignments never include time for reflection and adjustment. Choice!
Giving students choice of what they create & what apps they use to respond to an activity allows students to choose according to their strengths - speaking, drawing, video creation, writing, analyzing data - there's an app for all of them #appleeduchat
A5: with all tech we have to be mindful of those that don’t have at school or at home which include devices and internet. I always provide a tech enabled version and a non-tech version to ensure everyone can create within their means. #AppleEDUchat
A5 Make sure that learning is accessible for everyone! iPad apps like #OfficeLens with #ImmersiveReader and #SeeingAI are gamechangers. Taught my young niece to use SeeingAI to read books to her with her iPad last weekend. #AppleEDUchat
Several publications are resisting #AppleEDUchat Inc’s plans to keep about half of the revenue from its upcoming news subscription service, the Wall Street Journal reported on Tuesday, citing the iPhone maker’s pitch to some news #organizations .
#MNA_English#MNA
A4: When introducing a project on making animated solar system models using Keynote, we asked learners to provide feedback on how to improve the example model to make it more accurate, then challenged them to create a better one. #AppleEDUChat
We were just chatting about the audience effect and how much more effort learners put into their work when they know it will have an audience. Thank you for sharing! #AppleEDUchat
A1 Being involved and able to create! Nothing will engage a student more than being able to 'get their hands dirty' with the learning/content. #AppleEDUchat
A1: It’s important for ss to feel and live the experience not just listen , they need to interact to creat a real connection to have a meaningful learning experience. #AppleEduChat
My husband always laughs at my building projects. But, that table gets used over and over. Use a pond liner with the stream table challenge, sand for a @sphero mars challenge, and more. #AppleEDUchat

AUTHENTIC ENGAGEMENT #AppleEDUChat 2nd graders created puppet visual narratives (for a grant) to address an erosion problem on our campus. Production teams used Apple ecosystem to create their story. They won the grant! Check out their video: https://t.co/b236Lg3Q6m
A5: I try to have verbal, written, drawn, quantitative, & experiential opportunities embedded in each. The multi-modal approach helps everyone, & the Ss who benefit most from a particular mode (ex: video notes) aren’t singled out b/c it’s available to all #AppleEDUchat
A6: My authentic engagement takes a way for my curriculum to become digital for my students. Of course its in Numbers, my favorite iWorks app! #AppleEDUchat
A5: Providing as many choices as possible as far as expressing an understanding of the content in question. Learning about the ease and simplicity of the audio record feature in the Apple suite was a game changer for sure!#AppleEDUChat
A5 I think a lot of people think that making/providing accessible materials is strictly something you do for people with disabilities - they’re often surprised when you show them how accessibility can benefit everyone (and often in multiple ways). #AppleEDUchat
A6) Young adults teaching teachers has been a great area of pride. They have to know content & have several back up plans. Young adults are first surprised that teachers enjoy learning & get excited about their learning then count on that energy the next year. #AppleEDUchat
A6 It has to be something that matters to the Ss. I thought one thing they have in common is their school We took our iPads outside and took photos of our school’s landscape We now have a collaborative book showing our school through our Ss eyes. #AppleEDUchat#EveryoneCanCreate

A6: Before getting into administration, my last year in the classroom(2014), with my own personal iPad, a PC, and a smart board, we made a music video to a rap about the water cycle… Still talk about it with my former students to this day #AppleEDUchat
Love the engineering challenges and the short cycle challenges like this @SpheroEdu coding challenge to code bots to show seismic waves traveling. #AppleEDUchat
A5 I like to sit back & observe as Ss investigate and inquire about what they see and what they do to expand or build on what is in front of them. I take it from there & + additional items 2 allow them to personalize and enrich their design. I placed straws on table #AppleEduChat
Q5: It is important to take the curriculum and find a way to relate it to the students. From there I try to tie a project or activity that will get the students looking deeper into the content. #AppleEDUChat
A6: My 1st Graders Skyped with Dr. Clyde Roper, the famous Giant Squid hunter. Then, Ss (in groups) created a drawing, video or audio recording depicting how the squid and sperm whale fight. AMAZING results!! #AppleEDUchat
