Twitter Chats are a great way for you and other educators to collaborate, generate new ideas, and discuss various Edmodo-topics. During Twitter Chats, moderators lead a conversation on Twitter about a specific topic using a pre-determined #hashtag on every tweet, and participants can join in the conversation by responding with that #hashtag.
The amazing Edmodo Support Ambassadors organize a Twitter Chat every first and third Sunday of the month at 8pm Eastern using the hashtag #edmodochat.

Using Whole Child Development to Grow Emotional Intelligence by understanding how social-emotional learning & critical thinking support the Whole Child. @WisewireEd's Chief Creative Officer, Laura Seuschek, #Edmodochathttps://t.co/Dh3y8qQYTU
#EdmodoChat A3: Our advice? Ask question! It should be the first step to getting to know your students. What do they like? What strengths/weaknesses do they have? What are their interests?
A3: I am very concerned that personalized learning in practice often becomes learning in isolation. I'd rather see teachers facilitating collaborative learning experiences for their students while personalizing on a relational level. (1/2) #EdmodoChat
A3 By giving lots of choices to students in terms of what and how they learn. By incorporating student voice and authentic audiences. #EdmodoChat#stuvoice
#edmodochat A3 My lesson plans contain learning paths that consider multiple intelligences and provide spaces for soft skills, innovation and creativity based on #stuvoice. .
A2: I think students want to BE good, they just don't always know how to PRACTICE good. I'm passionate about providing consistent & tangible opportunities for students to engage in the exercise of the sometimes intangible values of Kindness, Respect, or Forgiveness. #Edmodochat
A3 by knowing my students. I look for a solid hook to interest them. I use movement and technology to draw them in then I show them what they've learned and have them apply it later in the term. #EdmodoChat
A3: By knowing who are students are... Whether it be inside the classroom, outside the school, between peers, teachers or families, relationships are key to student success and growth. Relationships matter. https://t.co/j9OSQXPoEK#Edmodochat
A3: S's isolated in front a computer to target learning gaps in the name of personalized learning—sorry, no thanks. Personalized badges & direct messages w/ S's on Edmodo, and T's making time for 1-on-1 convos—that's what personalized learning looks like to me. (2/2) #EdmodoChat

A3:This works better at elem level given the length of time for teachers have with Ss. Fundamentally, whole child development includes parents and community, which can be difficult. I don’t think it’s wise to tackle this exclusively on a school or classroom level. #edmodochat
A2: I help students create a plan for life through personal assessments, career portfolio planning, service learning and global collaboration. We celebrate success in class and digital storage #Edmodochat#wholechild#supportstudents@ASCD
A2. I am providing long term development and success for my students through having high expectations of them in regards to their intellect, but not so high that their success is unobtainable.
#edmodochat
A2: The disciplined practice of Moral Character (kindness, integrity, empathy) helps students to develop Performance Character (grit, resilience). We know that Moral Character makes the world a better place and that Performance Character makes for better students. #Edmodochat

A3. Teachers need to connect with the content and the children...once thats done creative thinking, student driven, their ownership all comes in place....the teachers passion for the subject and genuine care for the Ss gets clearly transferred. #EdmodoChat
#edmodochat A4 They are quite related since learning depends on what is encoded, stored , retrieved and applied to new experiences and MI trigger and anchor it to make it memorable and purposeful.
A4: Multiple Intelligences can be a bit controversial but at its base I believe that it helps students create #Empathy no one learns the exact same as anyone else #EdmodoChat
A4: Students excel in so many different ways. Being able to provide opportunities for leadership, communication, teamwork, as well as content-related skills can give students many avenues to be successful. #edmodochat
A3: Instead of having students say "Here" when you take attendance, try incorporating some simple questions that they can answer in one or two words. It's a low impact way to start to learn more about your students. #Edmodochat
A4 My administrator and i had a fabtastic discussion about differentiated assessment. In my classroom there is a goal to achieve, some get there be writing, some by saying, some by doing. Each way is valid as long as they show mastery of the.underlying skill.#EdmodoChat
A3: I think it is important to connect the content to multiple different subjects, interests, and parts of life to get a fully rounded image of the content to reach more than just one aspect #EdmodoChat

A3: Here are a couple of great tips from a former teacher on getting personal data from students and building intentional community coming out of any break. #Edmodochathttps://t.co/ljgjSXOkp3
A3- Building relationships is the first step. If you don't know them, you can't reach them. Then giving students more ownership over their learning #Edmodochat

#Edmodochat Istarted teaching as a new career after leaving my job as medical doctor to raise my children. I am preparing my students to face the challenges of the 21st century competencies.
I definitely agree with this! Although it's extremely difficult, its important to know how your students learn best with different topics. For example, manipulatives help some kids with math but can confuse others. At the core, understanding your students is key #EdmodoChat
A4: Multiple Intelligences can be a bit controversial but at its base I believe that it helps students create #Empathy no one learns the exact same as anyone else #EdmodoChat
A4: Multiple Intelligences is an amazing way to help personalize learning. You are personalizing it to how their brain functions when you do! #EdmodoChat
A4: A student said to me today that her parents didn't support her involvement in student leadership because they wanted her to be in sports. Her response? "Leadership is my varsity sport." We must clarify what success looks like for students (it's not just GPA!) #Edmodochat
A4: We all learn differently, and we should be taught the way we learn. If a variety of learning opportunities are available, more students have a chance at learning! #Edmodochat
A5: Focus on building up student agency in and across school. You should also focus on Student Voice, decision making and letting them learn how to have agency. #EdmodoChat
A5: We give them the space they need whether it is physical or mental space. Sometimes it means being creative with what the school has given us and thinking outside the box. #EdmodoChat
A5: Agreed. Alternative materials that give a slightly different explanation of concepts are extremely powerful in the classroom and at home. Technology has definitely helped! #edmodochat
A3. The Maori concept of Hauora. This concept sees the child as made up of physical, spiritual, social and mental emotional well-being, in order to reach the whole child we must do what we can to ensure the child's well being is at a high level. #edmodochat
#Edmodochat Multiple intelligences guide me as I prepare my lesson plans as I believe that every individual has a certain preference by which they can transfer the learning.
A5- Listen to your students so they know their voices are valued. Teach them how to listen and learn from each other. Create a positive school environment where they aren't afraid of making mistakes #Edmodochat
A5 by being able to identify competencies, gifts and proficiencies that are showing itself in unfamiliar/non traditional ways. By acknowledging that powerful learners are endemic to being human but they hide when they are not seen or there is no light #edmodochat
A5: Let the students become the teachers! Put them in leadership roles, allow them to mentor their peers, have them stand up and present to their class. Learning becomes powerful and inspiring when students take control of the process. #edmodochat
#Edmodochat Multiple intelligences guide me as I prepare my lesson plans as I believe that every individual has a certain preference by which they can transfer the learning.
I love this. But at the end of the day, we still have to get through to the parents. Many of us fail to understand that our parents need just as much educational support and perspective widening as our students. #Edmodochat

#Edmodochat Creating conditions conducive to success happens by incorporating project based learning, collaborative work and assignments that promote creativity and independent learning opportunities.
A3&4 . When every child matters .... difference is accepted and appreciated...then individualised patterns will evolve successfully in a teachers mind and class...so it's not only about teacher training but also about teacher approach that makes the HUGE DIFFERENCE. #EdmodoChat

A5: Character is the great equalizer. Every student can be powerful because every student can develop their capacity for kindness & compassion. When we teach these things consistently and intentionally, Ss learn that they are powerful in their ability to help & give. #Edmodochat

#edmodochat A6 I rely on my experience as a globally connected teacher and as a lifelong learner as well as on #stuvoice and agency rather than on standards.
#Edmodochat I think we have to reach the parents too and enlist them in what we do for their child. Often parents are too busy, too tired, but if they know what helps, they will try. I can't push a wet noodle, a kid needs to know their success matters to someone other than me.

They need to be supplied with 1) Pre-correction on why Whole Child Education matters, 2) How the school defines "success" through academic AND character expectations, and 3) Clear exercises and questions they can use to engage at home. #Edmodochat

A5: We establish a culture of trust, safety, acceptance, and respect. My Ss know that my room is my happy place. They KNOW to “check the mess at the door!” It’s not allowed inside the room. If every T would expect the same...#Edmodochat
A6: #EdmodoChat In primary grades, our standard or motivation is to learn as much as we can so we are ready for the next grade. This is a simple message for 6 year olds "better yourself".

#EdmodoChat S that would break down in class, shutdown on any written assessment. Talked with team and mom. Fear of failure was crippling S. Allowed him success through alternative assessment and followed up with writing assignments. Material wasn't problem, fear of failure was.
