Good morning, ! Been a while!
Good morning! Ben from North Carolina. Math & physics teacher.
You and me both, but I just love this group so much I am hoping to sleep a little though!
Good morning! Nicole from NJ. Last day before spring break! I think I can, I think I can...
Your picture made me snarf my coffee, well played.
I use lots of different digital formative assessments. I use Google forms for bell ringers that then drive reteaching if need be.
Good morning! Oona from NJ, one day shy of spring break. I teach 11th/12th grade ELA.
I'll prob still be here too. my kids don't have break so I'll likely get up with them. But no rush to leave!
Morning friends Happy Almost weekend. Eric in NJ Last day of Marking Per, 3 Wow it went fast ( PARCC starts Monday !)
I use for review of vocabulary or concepts from the day before.
. Sorry about that! But if it cleared your sinuses, too, then glad I could help :)
I really don't use a lot of technology for assessment. Our district uses MAPS
Good morning ! Stacey from NJ. Excited that we are not -ing today AND we have a staff breakfast!
Morning pal https://t.co/T8RhTh62es
Good morning! Oona from NJ, one day shy of spring break. I teach 11th/12th grade ELA.
Good morning! Recently, I have tried to moderate classroom twitter chats to assess student learning. It's been pretty cool!
oh to be in your shoes! Hope you have an excellent break. You deserve it!
I use as a non competitive way to check for understanding.
Are you ready for the next 3 days? We play each other. I'll b grateful 4 1 W. It's been a rough start.
I guess I use kidblog as a type of formative assessment
What have you used, Bradley?
Good morning . Can't stay to chat but hope you all have a great end to your week
and he's done an excellent job of it !! https://t.co/3a09jfAVb2
Good morning! Recently, I have tried to moderate classroom twitter chats to assess student learning. It's been pretty cool!
We use google classroom, ST Math, IXL, STAR & Lexia to name a few
I tell Ts to use Google Forms FTW; but also short term, Kahoot! & Quizziz
Happy Friday from Massachusetts!
Bruan, HS principal
I use quizzes as another formative assessment check for understanding.
I use as an in class and out of class flip and formative assessment.
Google Forms is one of those digital tools that can be manipulated to do many different things ...
My Favorite, Activity Builder and Activities. All work and Qs Ss do is collected in 1 place, feedback is instant
I am using Confer with my Ts to take notes during conferences and small group instruction during math, rdg and wrtg workshops.
RAZ Kids has been a phenomenal resource for me to assess my Ss reading.
Hi everyone ... Bio teacher from near Rochester NY. I use Forms all the time.
Good morning to all!!Ylonka over here from Santo Domingo
NWEA, Study Island 4 Sci, Aleks & Agile Mind 4 math, PEG Writing, myON 4 reading, Google forms &shared docs. https://t.co/xEYoRz8bGy
this is an excellent resource. Thanks!
Absolutely! I also love that you can have them choose whether they want to do MC or open ended for the same question.
I close class each day with as a fun way to check for understanding.
I use it with the college Ss I teach. Great for connecting assessment to life
Good morning - so ready for Tech Expo today
Morning, all, from a very infrequent chatter! :) Abner from the DC area.
There are times when I want to share a running record so I record it using photo booth.
I do like Google forms a lot, also polls on Schoology are often easier for quick questions. Discussion boards on Schoology, Padlets
I also flip my class and use and have used as well
and I create chats for Ss and Ts to discuss book analysis and comprehension. Our last one was ! 😄
I absolutely love Confer. It is how I keep track of Ss reading and writing.Couldn't conference with Ss w/o it https://t.co/Hg0zxRmAh4
I am using Confer with my Ts to take notes during conferences and small group instruction during math, rdg and wrtg workshops.
Happy Friday !
Brian, HS principal
Happy Friday ! It's time to take the leap and ! 😊
I have also used and wordles as formative assessments.
Anyone use ? Great way to embed Qs and discussion to existing youtube and other video. I like it a lot
we use the explain everything app as a way of assessing a child's knowledge where the S explains his reasoning. Simply awesome.
That's a really good day, then :) https://t.co/R7fJcQvVAF
Good morning ! Stacey from NJ. Excited that we are not -ing today AND we have a staff breakfast!
Two votes for Confer in 12 seconds - must explore
I love this Q but must point out the typo: "asses" instead of "assess" Tee hee.
Love Google Forms, especially when used in conjunction with Google Classroom.
Morning friends! Can't wait for an amazing today! !
has been huge for me this year! I also use .
I get Ss to email me work so i have a trail that it was done. Knowing it was done is an important part of assessment for me
can't believe it either! Ours ended last Friday. Where did the time go?
Good Morning and GOOD FRIDAY! Hope everyone had a great week!
Many of my labs are assessed on Forms - flubaroo auto grades them for instant feedback
As far as digital goes, I use schoology daily. It is a great LMS.
Given today's question: For those that use multiple tools, is there anything that rolls up student scores into single dashboard?
I do love google docs for this information. I could tell how much a Ss father had done! Yikes https://t.co/mUsCsa8qJA
I get Ss to email me work so i have a trail that it was done. Knowing it was done is an important part of assessment for me
Digital portfolio development can support effective, timely and ongoing assessment...T observes and responds to learning over time.
I like Twitter, TitanPad,
TY! Instant verbal or audible feedback w/built in custom rubric. Good for formative/mastery-based assessment.
In general, I prefer Ss CREATE for assessment, not just answer Qs. So most digital methods work. Ss get choice.
we Parcc next week. I now lose my use of chromebooks for 6 weeks. Remind me, please: How does that help my students learn?
good morning! Love the combined dose of PPG and bitmoji you're offering!
Thanks! Especially after a week of PARCC testing. Only two more grades to test after break.
that's great. For what grades and how do you moderate inappropriate comments? Setting expectations before hand?
I have the app for my iPad. I bring it whenever I sit with a Ss. It does all the organizing! https://t.co/3qq5ez9NGn
Two votes for Confer in 12 seconds - must explore
Google classroom will also be a great for that!
Email often tells me who sent them the email they forwarded to me
I think we underestimate the importance of actual submission as a skill
Have not seen or used this app. Sounds great. https://t.co/rLcqYUKvqX
we use the explain everything app as a way of assessing a child's knowledge where the S explains his reasoning. Simply awesome.
Our district uses Raz Kids, Study Island, and Genesis.
Let me know if you have any questions Only way I found to organize conference notes
I push to change my Ss' mindset to growth, not grades (not easy!) - Using comments/dialogue in GoogleDocs helps assess that growth.
So true! I am finding that in 3rd grade. Just checking email is difficult! https://t.co/xC5KnmJYlV
I think we underestimate the importance of actual submission as a skill
it's especially excellent in K and 1 where Ss may have difficulty writing their thoughts. Speaking is easy
Yikes! This yr my SD has done a great job getting us device ready, v few interruptions w tech-100 extra devices on loan.
You're both Mets fans? Too funny. I'm ecumenical in my baseball friendships:)
I have it on my iPad if you want to check it out. Unfortunately we don't have many iPads.
Thanks for this. Must check out. It's just called Confer?
My economics students are enrolled career awareness program which combines digital activities & face to face tasks
That song will be in my head ALL day!
I'm learning that has awesome features for digital assessment...customizable quizzes, games w/ reflection, and mind maps!
OneNote and Explain Everything are digital tools that support digital portfolio development and formative assessment.
Oh my apple pie...too funny. . I probably won't see my Phillies till July.
I did Twitter chats with my AP class last year. Setup takes time, the accounts had to be private
Seeing lots of tools to explore! ☆ As I am reading others...we do also use IXL and polling resources.
This was yesterday's focus at our faculty mtg. Teachers presented ways to engage and assess Ss using technology. It was fantastic!
I have to check this out.
Then everyone in the class has to give permission for all others to follow etc.
Great point! The technology tools should foster a growth (WIP) mindset vs. jump through another hoop just for a grade.
You can require submission in Classroom, but I agree.
That little thing is adorable!
I'm probably sounding a bit too straight here but I like Ss to learn to have some regular organisation
Yes classroom so easy to assign work and for Ss to access. Great for feedback & makeup work https://t.co/E2xcCbpQRt
Google classroom will also be a great for that!
It certainly streamlines things!
I love when Ss submit essays on googledocs. I add my comments and they can revise, I can check their past revisions to see changes..
I think it's teh last of teh season. no more babies until October now
I also use often Simple to use, gives good grading spreadsheet
Holy crap it is $24 now. Maybe try the lite first to see if you like it. I paid $14 a few years ago.
Digital portfolios are amazing for driving digital assessment! (Among MANY other things!) Huge fan. https://t.co/ERAjvvXLI2
OneNote and Explain Everything are digital tools that support digital portfolio development and formative assessment.
I haven't done much with either, sadly! Those are great tools for formative assessment!
Hey, I disagree. I think there's always room for kindness:) I have to practice what I preach to my Ss.
yes! Another trip to Seymour School :)
The revision history is one of my favorite features!
well, that means it must be good, right? heehee
another great app will use is seesaw. electronic portfolio that follows Ss throughout the grades. Nice way to showcase assessments.
For me in grade 3 it totally helps me form their grade!
Google Play has a free lite version
That's a song? I had no clue. I just really wanted my friends to meet you all.
Good pt. GAFE makes things so easy for Ss that we've found some are lost outside of it
I look forward to doing the same...new to me. Thanks!
is my go to tech site for quick & either anonymous or personal ✔ for understanding from my Ss. Very easy to learn & use!
Indeed! GC (especially tied to Doctopus & Goobric) has helped facilitate our competency-based focus vs. just for a grade.
off to the gym! This has been a great way to wrap up the week with my tribe. Let's turn a child's life around today!
I may not let you leave lol
Ok, you two are something else. I have the urge to text my principal:)
I like both for any grade- students can make own kahoots
I would say yes. Ss could generate their own Qs for their classmates. That would indicate their understanding.
They are supposed to be working on another app. Thought it was coming out this yr, but I guess not.
Pilot the lite and make the case for a district license? ;-)
I would pay for it, but so much of what I do is hands on conferring, observation, small group etc but $24 is steep
and can be shared with parents easily
Yes makes feedback easy to track progress, and also see how much effort was put into work Accountability - https://t.co/tVp9gyriHK
The revision history is one of my favorite features!
Good morning, Jen from CT- late to the game but happy to see some good resources this morning!
the whole world doesnt function w/o paper - kids still need to physically locate, organize
This version is so much better than the one that first came out. I have been using it for 4 years.
Zip grade is quick to see who got it and who didn't... And what I need to reteach
I've got to tinker with Goobric, because I know it's good, just learned about it in an ignite session
Yeah. As much as I think I'm chaotic I can't operate without paper lists
I hope I still have Ts using it in 4 years and LOVING it!
FOMO about ensuring that one is seen often as possible, profile,to be up-to-date. I think there's a much more serious issue
Yes, ! is so much more than videos now. Pretty amazing stuff...sortable data reports and everything.
I have to cross things off! Paper lists are ever where!
love the suite of what is available in Google!
Hope you and your students enjoy lots of digital fun and learning today! Happy weekend everyone!
Great chat! Got some ideas to share w/my Ts. Have a great weekend everyone!
Same here! I am obsessed w notebooks and pens!
I almost stopped, but then they changed it and now I really love it. I make it work for me!
any web presence - we're 1:1 laptops, few iPads. I
Crossing off is so soothing. List like "Reminders" on Mac are sad when the item disappears
. Once again, Stacey, I am envious of your heaven as I continue on in purgatory...
Doing 1/day for 100 days!
Great news! I knew it as providing engaging video clips in past...really like how robust a tool it is now.
I keep telling Ss, put 1 line thru it so you can see what was there! I like the record
Digital is a tool. Handsaw is quicker but chainsaw does the harder repetitive work
Confer could be like Kohls-- they price things high so they can go on sale.
Wow! Time just flew today! Have a great weekend everyone! We are on break next week!
Don't be too jealous, we start the math portion on Mon. We get a hiatus for conferences. Not as many hiccups as last yr.
Where personal identity is almost entirely virtual=sense of belonging, you create FOBME anxiety Fear of Being Missed Entirely
haha I never leave this chat without a laugh! :)
HA! love it. I got this $25 for 8.15 - there's a marketing technique
Just had the same conversation! NWEA & SBAC for 3 grades=comp labs & chrome books now until June tied up !
It has been that expensive for a LONG time!
I have to go:( Another busy day empowering teachers 2b leaders. Let's follow each other and grow our PLN https://t.co/LSn5yLdoI8
Let me take a minute to praise ! In the past 2 weeks, rec'd an iPad for my class and a class set of Hunger Games novels
Really? Wow, much has changed in the few months I've been away😱 https://t.co/QlS454DOLh
Yes, ! is so much more than videos now. Pretty amazing stuff...sortable data reports and everything.
Hey all don't forget to go to voxer to continue the cool kids chats
Thank you for the ideas everyone, have a fabulous weekend
As I always tell my own kids: something is only worth what people are willing to pay.
Thanks to I know about Goobric and now I can watch this vid. Thanks, Ben!
we start AIR 3rd, 4th, 5th thinking of all the kids and praying for good tech
harrumph... Will give it a try, if only to show other iPad-toting Ts
I think I followed everyone - thanks for the chat this morning. See you at 530 monday. Grow your PLN
Happy FRIDAY, ! Time to continue my day, listen to , and dream about !
Today's conversation hurt my head, . So many tools, so many ways to use. Lots to digest and consider.
Have a great weekend!
hmmm, and the full app is $15 there - so interesting to me. Thx for the heads-up!
Good , productive week and I think it will be a to end the week https://t.co/ZMArYXa8do
Good Morning and GOOD FRIDAY! Hope everyone had a great week!
Hey TN Friends! I'm doing a blog post abt the TN Ready changes you've had this year--anyone able to chat later or fill out a survey?
Next yr I will do NWEA fall & late winter ~ SBAC in spring. Esp because each assessment is 3 - 4 days.
Love Brainpop! Available in Spanish too!
Yes, so many open tabs to check & bookmark; can't remember when I clicked on 'View' so many x to see conversations
Is there a particular program/app you like for digital portfolios? Some of our Ts are looking @ this as we expand 1to1
I have started using for math. Helping to pilot.
For practice problems/homework, I use instead of a Math textbook and I assess their level of mastery.
I like using to structure my lessons; the interactivity allows for TONS of formative assessment & checks for understanding
We have a bank of basic skill questions on that we play often. No formal assessment by me, but could be used that way.
I am a huge fan of Spiral.ac . Allows for T and S feedback. Makes delivery of instruction interactive. Formatives made easy!
I use forms to formatively assess & custom scripts to generate and send feedback documents.
Use , , , Google Form quizzes,
Love this visual One step further, what if you replaced w/ PLN? I always hope that's how mine works! https://t.co/GIUFljIDzB

Good morning, CDT Since I have to keep convincing myself that it really IS Friday already, maybe it has been a good week!
. Darn no edit feature. Sorry for the lack of S. 😳 if this is worst thing today then it will be a great Friday. ☕️
Good morning
Hope you are all looking forward to a great Friday
Good morning Central Edition!
Many different ways to use digital to assess S learning. We like to use Seesaw for them to share either through pic, text, or audio
Any week we see the end of is a good week!
Have used Google Forms to collect data.
Yup, it's Friday again!!! :) Hi there Susie! https://t.co/1qsfWfQ54C
Good morning, CDT Since I have to keep convincing myself that it really IS Friday already, maybe it has been a good week!
. I have heard Seesaw a lot this week. I'll have to try that one out!
A: I like blogs and digital portfolios to assess student learning. Also any digital tool that supports PBL.
I'd like to use Google Drawings more.
How do you make it self assessing? I tried but can't find key section??? https://t.co/enL17UbKYs
Have used Google Forms to collect data.
Same here! Great tool for immediate feedback
This year I've used annotations as way for Ss to assess themselves
I've also used this year and
. Sorry I meant The other guy probably hates all the false notifications! Oops!
forgot about plickers! Just used with my kids this week!
ahhh! That's what I'm missing-thanks!
yeah, that's what I'm trying to do. You have to keep the a. b. c. in answer but confused abt setting the key. How to.
I use for students to demonstrate thought process as well as product. I use for verbal feedback
Have a fantastic Friday everyone!
After flipped video, Ss complete Google form. Conditional format data to create daily, skill-based small groups.
do you think was listening to our chat this morning? Cool feature, can't wait! https://t.co/AWMdaFu1Im
We’re releasing a new feature very soon that will make Kahoot!’ing in teams a lot easier. Stand by for TEAM MODE! 🎉 https://t.co/n7DXoPxDZB
Morning, Anne & . I do believe it's Friday in this (and many) time zones!
Good and bad! That means it is Friday of my vacation in the Eastern timezone, too!
Lots of great ideas already suggested. I also dig to assess.
Been pondering point of view w/my Eng classes. Our tweets this morning will provide useful example! Enjoy last bit of break
I'm also really excited about the new review game in , Quizlet Live. My students love it! 1/2
also provides very useful tools to quickly see what a student does/does not know. T account is affordable! 2/2
Another possibility for (formative) the assessment toolbox: I've made materials in Riddle e.g., https://t.co/R3JmFqKh9M
One more possibility for the (formative) assessment toolbox: I've made materials in Zaption e.g., https://t.co/Nyny1kmbHr
I used video based question activities which the kids love!
The T can use videos that are already created and assign to Ss, and Ss answer questions while watching.
Or, like I did, T creates her own video, uploads, adds questions, and assigns to Ss. I used for reading quizzes.
Favorite exit ticket: have 2 ss writing quiz questions for peers during class, T then picks 2 ?s for exit ticket
