#leadupchat focuses on school leadership broadly, culture, changing paradigms, and the growth mindset. It's an Ed movement focused on Leadership, Culture, Growth and Shifts on Saturdays at 8:30am CST, founded by Jeff Veal (@heffrey) and Nathan Lang (@nalang1).
A1 many times I feel relief! Relief that I can start again- change things- and FAIL forward! Reset is imperative with growth mindset #leadupchat#kyadmin
A1 if we are just "resetting" without examining why we need to then we are just going to end up in an endless cycle of resets-be honest about why or why not reset #LeadUpChat
A1 Anytime we are working toward a goal it is important to reflect and if things are not going as planned, then a reset might be necessary. It can be momentarily discouraging but just means we have to come at things from a different direction. #leadupchat
A1: my answer to this is my favorite question: "Why?" Do we need to reset? Why do we need to? What are the motivations behind resetting? Who does it benefit? #LeadupChat
A1: I think it depends on the context. Recently i had to hit "reset" on certain verbiage I was using when referring to a source of data. Although I want Ts to realize it's only one data point, I don't want to inadvertently discourage the use of said data #leadupchat
A1 if we are just "resetting" without examining why we need to then we are just going to end up in an endless cycle of resets-be honest about why or why not reset #LeadUpChat
A1: How the "WHY" is going to lead the reset and how are we going to bring others along? What do we need to do to make it more clear for them? Who do we need on board? #leadupchat
A1: In some instances pushing that reset button, could be a very wise and healthy move to make. It will give you an opportunity to weigh the pros and cons of what you are doing and its effectiveness. #leadupchat#leadupchat
A1 Resetting provides an opportunity to pause, ponder, change plans, and start anew. It's an opportunity to start on a fresh slate to accomplish next steps #leadupchat
A1) It depends on what it is. Many times it can be opportunity to make something better. It also tells me someone or someones realized something wasn't working, & that's good reflection. #leadupchat
A1: I used to feel defeated, wears me out to start over. Now, I feel it's a priviledge to try again. Still wears me out to start over though, however, in a different way. #leadupchat
This is what we're talking about. Brian was People Smart enough to know that even words to describe a particular data source were not working and he needed to reset. Been there myself. Stuff as simple as this MATTERS. #leadupchat
A1: I think it depends on the context. Recently i had to hit "reset" on certain verbiage I was using when referring to a source of data. Although I want Ts to realize it's only one data point, I don't want to inadvertently discourage the use of said data #leadupchat
Reset, though scary at first shows me I’m making something better. Continually striving to make something better than before. So it’s a good feeling. #leadupchat
A1 Sometimes the thought of resetting means taking a big breath, evaluating what could be better, and moving forward with a tweak. It can be energizing especially if there's quick success! #leadupchat
A1: I used to feel defeated, wears me out to start over. Now, I feel it's a priviledge to try again. Still wears me out to start over though, however, in a different way. #leadupchat
I want to know why we need to reset and what is the future plan. Innovation is good but change forbthebsake of change is a merry go round not a reset button.
#leadupchat
A1 We need to ask if it is the right time to reset or if we need to reevaluate and just make a course correction-if we abandon the journey too soon we never make it to the top of the mountain #leadupchat
Hey y’all I’m late! Jumping in and out today as I can but good morning and welcome fall 🍂🍁🍂🍂 as it is a bit cooler in SC this morning! I’m Latoya, a state level ed leader in SC. #leadupchat
A1 Resetting doesn’t have to be negative. It can be an opportunity to reflect and adjust where necessary in order to achieve the outcome we want. #leadupchat
True point, Sandy. Experiencing quick successes gives us the momentum we need to push through barriers and support our team to move toward our vision @sandeeteach#leadupchat
In addition, not having clear metrics of success and knowing our goal. We reset because we don’t “feel” like it’s working without really knowing what “working” means #leadupchat
Yes, it is, Adam! Nobody wants to reset for flashy but insignificant change. For me, the need to reset becomes legit when the culture of the team is threatened. #leadupchat
I want to know why we need to reset and what is the future plan. Innovation is good but change forbthebsake of change is a merry go round not a reset button.
#leadupchat
This can be hard especially when its on a personal level-we invest tons of emotion into things and then when change occurs (& it always will) we tend to cling to that thing-the big breath is the first step #leadupchat

A1. Reset means recentering for me, putting things in the right perspective, balancing my attention, time, and efforts, getting my focus back on what matters most. #leadupchat
A2: Celebrate small successes/learnings if possible. Focus on the notion that we've learned some things and need your feedback to help design what forward looks like. #leadupchat
Timing is everything- It's not a good idea to start a new initiative when teachers are stressed with report cards, conferences, benchmarks etc. A few weeks can make a difference. #leadupchat
In addition, not having clear metrics of success and knowing our goal. We reset because we don’t “feel” like it’s working without really knowing what “working” means #leadupchat
#leadupchat Love this topic. I press reset often, realizing that not everything always works all of the time. Reflect, think and do better the next time.
A2) Usually when it's time to reset, many others have been feeling it well before. This makes it easier. Really thinking about what's not working, what's needed, what can be done differently (i.e. coming up w/a solid plan in the resetting stage) helps to ease ppl. #leadupchat
A2: Celebrate small successes/learnings if possible. Focus on the notion that we've learned some things and need your feedback to help design what forward looks like. #leadupchat
Resetting is “Refreshing.” The process is a reminder that it’s very difficult to get it right the 1st time. Resetting reduces the tension to be error free, & empowers us to find “solutions” and creative pathways; it’s called learning and modeling leadership. #leadupchat
Timing is everything- It's not a good idea to start a new initiative when teachers are stressed with report cards, conferences, benchmarks etc. A few weeks can make a difference. #leadupchat
A2 In my experience with things that are bigger I have to get my own head turned around first and lead with positivism. My attitude affects the rest of the team. #leadupchat
A2 As leaders, it's important that we support our team through shaping their perspectives about loss. When we experience failure, we must experience it as an opportunity to learn, grow, affirm our team, reset, and move forward with greater capacity to reach our goals #leadupchat
A2 Currently reading Dare To Lead (Brene Brown): creating the conditions for a team to rise after a fall or need to reset has to be created long before that need occurs. #leadupchat
A2 Reassuring your coworker that RESET isn’t a bad thing. Education is everchanging so we are “resetting” all the time. Giving the reassurance yet still recognizing their position and offer a helping hand. #leadupchat
A2 if its a solid idea that everyone is part of the reset should not be a surprise-if we are monitoring & evaluating on the journey we're ready for the fork in the road when it shows up #leadupchat
Couldn't agree more. If the process of design thinking is an integral part of the initial planning, reset, and beyond, we're searching for additional prototypes to support the work that we're doing, not starting over. #leadupchat
A2. I think it’s about how you react to failure, to mistakes, to errors people make. I’ve found that when I approach these types of situations with a calm demeanor, folks tend to respond better to any guidance I try to give, after listening. Calmness matters! #leadupchat
Resetting is “Refreshing.” The process is a reminder that it’s very difficult to get it right the 1st time. Resetting reduces the tension to be error free, & empowers us to find “solutions” and creative pathways; it’s called learning and modeling leadership. #leadupchat
A2 Sometimes the reset comes from outside the building. Then I feel like I have to gain an understanding of the why and present that to the rest of the team so we can see understanding together. Perspective is important. #leadupchat
Yes, it does. We do that with kids all the time..."Is this behavior helping or hurting your shot at success?" Need to use the same language with each other sometimes. #leadupchat

A2: It's so much better if they don't have to be shown but can come to this conclusion on their own. So guiding them in these conversations is the first step. Facilitate, don't lead those convos. #leadupchat
A2 Vulnerability as a cultural value is critical to processing the need to reset. Allowing others to talk about what happened, why, and how best to move forward without judgement. #leadupchat
Q2: Establishment of a PLN that has teamwork and open communication at its core will help teammates RESET and confront loss through reflection. It helps trenendously when folks feel that the process is fair and nonjudgmental. #leadupchat
A2. I’ve also found that shared vulnerability works wonders for leadership. Taking the full responsibility for failures and giving away full credit for success is what people want from their leaders. It takes courage to do this and I don’t mind doing it at all. #leadupchat
The first book drop of the chat. Love it! That's a big part of who we are at #leadupchat. We share resources, adding tools to teammates' arsenal of awesomeness.
A2 Currently reading Dare To Lead (Brene Brown): creating the conditions for a team to rise after a fall or need to reset has to be created long before that need occurs. #leadupchat
A2: Analyzing data, getting feedback from our school committees. We have an advisory committee in our school. We look at what things we initially "voted" on doing school wide. If it's not effective, we don't dismiss the goal, we alter the strategies. #leadupchat
Probably a bit of both. It can seem easy to dig in a be stubborn in the moment but as perspective is gained to does take determination to turn and go in a different direction. #leadupchat
A2: It helps to reflect upon why things went awry. There is much that we can learn from adversity and setbacks. There are many insights hiding there that we can use to overcome obstacles in the future. Celebrating our learning and moving forward are important steps. #leadupchat
A2 Our school's journey in creating individualized PD was riddled with failure. But we learned from all of it & each tweak brought us closer to what we envisioned. Putting our egos away & admitting the need for change was an important part of the process. #leadupchat
I'm wondering if we could sometimes hit a backspace instead of the reset. For example, saying "Awesome" is good but adding in a phrase about learning/thinking has more impact. Tweaks work without feeling so much loss for some things. #leadupchat
Right. It’s not a reset, but a turning to get to our destination. In sailing, you have to “tack” to get to where you are going. I wonder if the reset is like that concept. #leadupchat
Agree. As the school leader, I like to encourage our people to get off the porch and take healthy risks. I model it as often as possible. When I make a mistake, fail, or am wrong I own it. When they do I ask them what was the takeaway from their experience. #leadupchat
It's called the Law of Leadership--We are responsible for EVERYTHING! That's pressure for us, but it's a relief to those we lead. In the words of @casas_jimmy...it always boils down to a "leadership issue." Embrace this and your growth is limitless. #leadupchat

@PrincipalPaul There are great resources on her website: a handbook to use as you read, docs to download, posters. And she’s doing a read along on LinkedIn #leadupchat

A2 Currently reading Dare To Lead (Brene Brown): creating the conditions for a team to rise after a fall or need to reset has to be created long before that need occurs. #leadupchat
A3 This is something I struggle with for sure and one of my goals this year is working on finding the balance between push and support. People deserve honesty and upfront conversations if necessary to understand the why. #leadupchat
A3: I think you have to focus on the end goal. If it’s just a “feeling” you aren’t going to get buy in. There has to be a reason, and it has to be valid. #leadupchat
A3 I think one way to do this is to offer collaboration. Resetting on your own can be daunting to some. With the idea that you’d be starting anew with a colleague might make the concept of RESET more appealing to some. #leadupchat
A3: Allow the "resistors" to have input on what you want to reset. Explain the reason behind the reset, and how we must reset to serve our current student body. Providing the "resistors" a voice to support in the reset, most often is a great way to lessen the heat. #leadupchat
A2: “let’s just look at what we can do different to improve what we are already trying to do.” Might be small adjustments or a complete transformation. #leadupchat
A2. I’ve also found that shared vulnerability works wonders for leadership. Taking the full responsibility for failures and giving away full credit for success is what people want from their leaders. It takes courage to do this and I don’t mind doing it at all. #leadupchat
Thanks #leadupchat for the early morning motivation! The mountain trails are calling for some early morning exploring! Go be awesome you beautiful people
A3: How do you know you’re right? What’s holding you back from a reset? Continue to question and push back. If their responses are about them and not the team, it’s time to move on. #leadupchat
A3. It starts with modeling a sense of urgency. Then framing efforts with a framework that describes WHY the work/reset is important, WHAT can be done about it, and working collaboratively to design HOW it can and will be done. Monitor and measure what matters! #leadupchat

A3: We all have something that is a barrier for us to becoming better. It is more comfortable to share roadblocks w trusted colleagues, so investing in a culture of safety & vulnerability is crucial for building leaders. It is at the heart of a healthy organization. #leadupchat
A3: Asking reflective questions in effort to understand their reluctance to change. Partnership in moving forward. Helping them to change lenses #leadupchat
A3: I don’t think you should raise the heat on a teammate. Accountability comes in the form of:
1. Norms
2. Shared Goals
3. Conversations
4. Results
5. Look Fors
6. Rubrics
7. Coaching
8. Visiting other classes/schools

A3. A team will never work harder than its leader. Leaders set the tone. Model the work ethic you want to see in others: slackness breeds slackness and excellence breeds excellence. #leadupchat
Reset reminds us that change is messy, but necessary to get where we want to go. Wow, Apollo 13 would still be "up there" without reset--"Houston we have a problem!" Resetting is a pathway to collaboration & creativity. #leadupchat
A3 An intentional process to “rumble” with the need to reset or abandon an idea or project should already be in practice. Trying to establish a feedback culture in the midst of chaos, dissent or high emotion is difficult #leadupchat
Q3: Simply asking those teammates to provide their input in the process increases their accountability in helping to discover a resolution! #leadupchat
I think these are GREAT tools for respectfully raising the heat or refocusing a reluctant resetter. Raising the heat is a push but done with respect and team-oriented intent. #leadupchat

A3 I think we have to create a culture of learning from our mistakes & not being afraid to try again. This comes from top down modeling. Admitting our mistakes openly & sharing what we've learned from them alows Ts (and Ss) to do the same. #leadupchat
A2: I’m in constant competition e myself...I enjoy the work of self-improvement and the challenge of trying something new...I’m honest w trusted colleagues when I’ve tried something that didn’t go as planned & love collaborating around next steps #leadupchat
A3: Is it the campus culture to ask Energy vampires to step aside until they are ready? How long can we wait? Is it ok to have this as an intervention for resistence? #leadupchat
A3. A team with the right cultur and climate will inspire others to deliver results because that’s the “way the team does business”. The heat is in the culture and climate. If you don’t deliver, you don’t fit. #leadupchat
A1: Sometimes it can be discouraging to the morale for the work and effort that has been put in. So rather than reset completely, I think it’s good to pause and analyze where you’re at and figure out the very next step forward. #leadupchat
This year the question is- how do we know? I ask this when a teacher tells me something is/is not effective. It is causing teachers to reflect on what they are doing and how they are doing it. I’m working hard to be right next to them in this process. #LeadUpChat
A3. A team with the right culture & climate will inspire others to deliver results because that’s the“way the team does business”.The heat is in the culture and climate. If you don’t deliver, you don’t fit. #leadupchat-When is @Twitter getting an edit button? Culture not cultur🙄

Yes. They are parked cars. Everyone else is gassed up and ready for the adventure. The invitation is theirs to seize, but we gotta move! I'm with you 100%!!! #leadupchat
A3: Is it the campus culture to ask Energy vampires to step aside until they are ready? How long can we wait? Is it ok to have this as an intervention for resistence? #leadupchat
A3: A wise colleague of mine used the phrase, "Gentle pressure, relentlessly applied." I think that gentle pressure often comes in the form of conversation, seeking to understand, and meet their needs (not wants) and the gently nudging their thinking thru questioning.#leadupchat
A3: I model resets in my own teaching...I try new structures and give honest feedback...I open the door to observations in my classroom and seek positive, goal-setting feedback from colleagues based on what’s working/not working in their teaching #leadupchat
A4 Our wellbeing matters. How we currently experience life impacts our performance. When we are thriving we live our strengths in a healthy, productive way. Including the five elements of wellbeing as a cultural norm allows us to get ahead of the “blues”, take action #leadupchat
A3. A team will never work harder than its leader. Leaders set the tone. Model the work ethic you want to see in others: slackness breeds slackness and excellence breeds excellence. #leadupchat
Simple but effective. Ask "how do you know" when criticism is dropped on an effort. And if ample evidence is provided, then it may take a mirror check and reset! #leadupchat

A4: Never let someone utter the words "October Blues" in your school. . . Re-frame the mindset to October Opportunities! Especially when we work together to create opportunities for our kids! #leadupchat
Idea has not really fallen short, the "idea process" evolves. The brainstorming, "mistakes" r part of the process. We should celebrate th exchange of ideas. This is where leadership is critical, reminding folks that change is a process, valuing patience, 2 help S & T. #leadupchat
A4: The excitement of opening day is behind us and we know the challenges that need to be addressed.

I so agree...we’re all vulnerable...especially when trying something new...by putting ourselves in that place of vulnerability w trusted colleagues, we’re also giving ourselves a chance to experience what our Ss often feel #leadupchat
We are all going to have those moments, you know? We have colleagues and friends in this boat, too. It's important to know how long are we willing to wait when Ss are the focus. #leadupchat
THIS! I'm helping our teachers to stay focused on student-learning! Are your students learning at high levels and how do you know? What's the evidence? The shift from teacher-centered to student-centered is a reset button. #leadupchat

I’m reflecting on this. On one hand I understand, but on the other, shouldn’t we validate people and their feelings so they can feel human and normal? Telling them they shouldn’t feel blue seems to send the message they shouldn’t be human, doesn’t it? #leadupchat
A4: you are fun enough into the year to kind of see what is working and isn’t. What changes can be made to positively impact our schools students and staff. Could add to the morale if it is wanted positive change. #leadupchat
A4: this is fascinating to me...I’ve always felt Oct is a fab month in school...you’re into an established routine and making daily strides...yet you’re still fresh enough in the year to feel the excitement #leadupchat
I see the difference between feeling blue and the attitude around it, but I am also wanting to develop a culture where people feel human. That means sometimes being blue or stuck. #leadupchat
New opportunity is always exciting. If you feel like everyone is resetting that excitement is brought back into your job. Atleast for me, resetting is exciting and an opportunity so things aren’t the same all. The. Time. #leadupchat
A4: As leaders we must reflect on our WHY & be cognizant about living it deliberately more during these times. As we reflect on our WHY we must be intentional about celebrating Ts for implementing their why. Be extra about acknowledging them; the culture will shift. #leadupchat
Q4: a great cure for October blues is to focus on the evidence of growth you are seeing. Data can both reinvigorate your energy noticing where you’ve been & next steps of where you’re going. Will include both celebrations & resets. #Microgoals#ShortWins#leadupchat
Great point, in their important research on "Relational Trust" in schools Bryk and Schneider stress the importance of vulnerability. Leaders need to be vulnerable as a sign of strength. Thanks! #leadupchat
A2. I’ve also found that shared vulnerability works wonders for leadership. Taking the full responsibility for failures and giving away full credit for success is what people want from their leaders. It takes courage to do this and I don’t mind doing it at all. #leadupchat
Stole the verbiage from @heffrey . Blaming him. HAHAHA! Nah, I'm not afraid or above the humanness that people get in a funk.We aren't bullet-proof, people, nor should we expect others. And if you believe in October Opportunities, you better back it with behavior #leadupchat
A4: Never let someone utter the words "October Blues" in your school. . . Re-frame the mindset to October Opportunities! Especially when we work together to create opportunities for our kids! #leadupchat
Q4: Resetting has the unique opportunity to bring in some “fresh” air. One of the practices that must be coupled with resetting is the constant celebration of successes- even the smallest ones!! This will support a positive school climate and combat October Blues. #leadupchat
A4: Mindset is so important, along with support and validating people for what they do. High expectations definitely cause discomfort, but keeping them at the forefront and checking on our people will provide balance.
#leadupchat
Mindfulness moments. Being blue is one thing--let's work together to get out of it. Staying blue or accepting it as a norm for an entire month is an entirely different thing. #leadupchat
I think it's important to LAUGH together! It's a great stress reliever. The laughter can often come from the other things you mentioned. Great list! #leadupchat

Hard to raise the heat until TRUST is part of the culture. It takes time. Folks need to see that the leadership accepts "Mistakes" as long as r hearts are in the right place--focusing on student learning and teacher success. #leadupchat
Yes. Enthusiasm and optimism are two core values for me and my teammates know this. I do have to balance both with empathy for others. I've been in a funk before myself. I'm glad I had teammates listen to me instead of "sunshine and rainbow" me to death. #leadupchat
I’m reflecting on this. On one hand I understand, but on the other, shouldn’t we validate people and their feelings so they can feel human and normal? Telling them they shouldn’t feel blue seems to send the message they shouldn’t be human, doesn’t it? #leadupchat
Q4: As a leader, I try to help my team thru especially challenging times of the year by acknowledging their efforts and the progress being made. It's hard to see progress for some when you're right in the middle of it. They need words of affirmation! #leadupchat
A5 We are all working on mindfulness for everyone-staff, students parents. My reset is to slow things down intentionally for our staff and spend more time celebrating and enjoying each other. #leadupchat
A5: It is easy to think of things I will reset and how to fix schools or teacher teams. This book helps leaders look in the mirror. The reset begins with the Leader (you). Highly Recommend this book! #leadupchat
A5: I have to reset how I take on the trauma of my kids at school. I struggle knowing some of their circumstances-not being able to have control over those. It makes me lose sleep, consumes me at times. I need to remember the circle of influence, circle of control. #leadupchat
A5: I like the idea in October & November of really using thankfulness as our basis of teamwork. We can look at data & be #grateful for where we’ve been. Gratefulness always changes the mindset & can be a foundation for continuing the hard work in 2nd quarter. #leadupchat
Unless having a term validated my feelings; “October blues” might be what I need to know I’m not alone; that this is normative. I can now be mindful and work to move forward as opposed to thinking about “what’s wrong with me?” For feeling down. #leadupchat
A5: Stay focused on the positive...change is hard, but when viewed through the lens of discovering best practice for kids...change is critical. Surrounding myself with goal-setting, positive thinkers has been key to my own growth 🗝 #leadupchat
A4 An idea that was shared in #bfc530: give teams of Ts a full day to do in depth planning together. Sub their classes for them. I thought it was a great idea & set it up next week. It's given our Ts such a positive boost. They love it! #leadupchat
Shifting from teacher-centered to student-centered classrooms has been happening for awhile now but seems so new to so many. I'm committed to helping myself and others to focus on student learning. How do we know students are learning at high levels? Great question! #leadupchat
A5: Continue to manage MY calendar! I carve out time for productive tasks, however, life happens. Too much gets in the way of accomplishing daily goals at times. I reset, pick a "I have to complete" goal and keep moving forward. Smiling helps!! 🤗#leadupchat
Q4: Know your people and speak their love language. How can you express to them that you value them? May be different for some. Acts of service, gifts, quality time, a pat on the shoulder. Speaking their love language helps them get thru challenging times. #leadupchat
Q4: As a leader, I try to help my team thru especially challenging times of the year by acknowledging their efforts and the progress being made. It's hard to see progress for some when you're right in the middle of it. They need words of affirmation! #leadupchat
A5 As a partner with school leaders I can too often get pulled in directions that are not essential to the work and outcomes. My reset is to stay more focused for myself and my partners on what works and what matters. #leadupchat
Fun is vastly underestimated as a culture-boosting reset tool! Fun is a core value for me. If I didn't have fun at #UVlearn and in @BuhlerUSD313 I wouldn't be there. Seriously, when fun is nonexistent, it's time to go. #leadupchat
Personal example is critical.Colleagues need 2 c the leadership raise the heat on themselves. Folks need 2 c the leadership struggle w ideas, b willing 2 do the research, share articles, examples, network, celebrate ideas from others. Does r culture welcome resetting? #leadupchat
I ask my students "How do you know?" a lot. This gets them to go back to the text for reading questions, evaluate their writing with rubrics, and show their work in math. #leadupchat
I stayed up to 2:30 this morning reorganizing work schedule to flow. I was missing being with students & getting into classrooms (like I wanted to). So I purposely put my reset I wanted my day to go. I know our days change, but I wanted a plan. #leadupchat
A5: It is easy to think of things I will reset and how to fix schools or teacher teams. This book helps leaders look in the mirror. The reset begins with the Leader (you). Highly Recommend this book! #leadupchat
I started gratitude walks a few weeks ago. I am not consistent yet, getting there though. I walk around and, greet whomever I see and focus on what I am thankful for. I always remind myself, I could be that person...#leadupchat
Q6: Resetting is hard work! You need teammates in this process. Mention three teammates who will help you reset and move forward as a leader! #leadupchat
I started gratitude walks a few weeks ago. I am not consistent yet, getting there though. I walk around and, greet whomever I see and focus on what I am thankful for. I always remind myself, I could be that person...#leadupchat
WOW!!!! Just had this conversation with my team in #313teach. @johnschulte84@KennedymMelissa and @Rantime have all been brainstorming ways to get back to FLOW with getting into classrooms! This week was a good week for me in this regard. #leadupchat
I stayed up to 2:30 this morning reorganizing work schedule to flow. I was missing being with students & getting into classrooms (like I wanted to). So I purposely put my reset I wanted my day to go. I know our days change, but I wanted a plan. #leadupchat
Q5: My reset will be the intentionally planning of my day down to each minute. The “why” has to supported with intentionality of my intended outcome. #leadupchat
A5 Wow! So exciting to read how many responses to this question are about wellbeing. It matters and it’s not a “soft skill” (I don’t use that term.) Thriving Wellbeing is a precondition to maximizing our performance and achievement. #leadupchat
A6: Voxer Groups hold me accountable. You connect with educators in multiple states and share your goals. Voxer is a Game Changer for Leaders. #leadupchat
You do Voxer, Steven? That's a joke, folks. I connect with Steven on a weekly, sometimes daily, basis on Voxer. He pushes me, encourages me, and coaches me with every Vox. And I've never met the guy!!! #leadupchat

Definitely. But I think it will be worth it. The subs will be principals and coaches - it gives us the wonderful opportunity to be back in the classroom! #leadupchat
I like the analogy in "Move your bus" by @RonClark@ronclarkacademy. Invest in your runners and joggers, not those energy vampires who are just their for the ride. #leadupchat

"Blues" r always an issue. The school culture must embrace the idea that any day might b the special day, that moment 2 turn a child's life around, or b the day when an "aha" changes one's life. We can't fall asleep on any day--this needs 2 b embedded in the culture. #leadupchat
A6. I have a whole team of folks that hold me accountable, but I’m most held accountable by God and the children of South Carolina! I don’t ever forget that! #mamaraisedmeright#leadupchat
A6: there are staff members and students I will ask to help me to stay on track this week with my goals. Might as well go all the way with the commitment to meet my goals with transparency!! #leadupchat
Best relationship building strategies?? #genuine#leadupchat@PrincipalPaul I have a tendency to be highly critical and obviously annoyed or surprised with crazy & lazy!
