Loving the fact that the vast majority of educators at #edcampbullcity are attending their very first edcamp. Love that the movement continues to grow!

Thanks for collab sesh @AubreyDiOrio#EdCampBullCity
Heard at #edcampbullcity “Until I know you have my best interest at heart, all your strategies mean nothing.” How well do we know our Ss, what they need, and what matters to them? Do we value them as people?
LOVING this discussion on #equity at #EdcampBullCity. It's great to have so many educators speaking up for student inclusion, respect, and empathy. @EdcampBullCity
Talking about how we invite parents and community into conversations about race. We all have biases, and one of the best ways to do that is to learn and grow with others who are different from us. #EdcampBullCity
Hey, #EdCampBullCity! Enjoy your day of learning and growing. I'm with you in spirit today. So many strong edu change agents in the room today - you have true power to make positive change and strengthen public education. Make it happen. #ncedhttps://t.co/mzoQy5KGKJ
Dialogue happening about how all educators should be on Twitter. Why? To continuously grow to support Ss. Balancing choice & district requirements. #edcampbullcity

“In my mind, I’ve replaced “blended learning” with the idea of “balanced learning. That way I’m not the only source of information.” ~~@synergyined#EdcampBullCity
#Whatif school districts or counties had a baseline of expectations--What we "have to learn," and then from there we springboard our own differentiated, personalized learning to earn badges in what we "want to learn." #edcampbullcity
Are "have to" and "want to" always different? How do we personalize our professional learning while still meeting accountability requirements? Great discussions at #EdCampBullCity!
Interesting teacher conversation about student agency this morning: Teachers are fearful of taking risks, worried about rocking the boat + have a difficult time letting go of a testing mentality. It’s so important for us to give them permission to fail forward. #EdCampBullCity
Talking “Rethinking PD” at #EdcampBullCity has led to a wonderful discussion about equity. It’s all about beginning to know what we don’t know. #checkmyprivilege
Educator Perspective: Technology and Digital competencies can empower students to see the classroom as a window, enabling them to see how their learning relates to the outside world. Relevancy Matters! #EdCampBullCity
#EdCampBullCity Take away from first session on equity - Relationships
Take a way form second session on Rethinking PD - Relationships
hmmm.... I'm sensing a pattern....
We encourage student learning with voice & choice in our classrooms - have we considered developing teacher/admin learning with voice & choice in PD? Going to start this! #EdcampBullCity#dodea#ncdlcn
"Sometimes it's: 'I'm not trying to change YOU, I'm trying to change learning for the students.'" @nathan_stevens on effectively encouraging educators to pursue new things in professional learning. #EdCampBullCity
Valuing simple truths from @synergyined @ #EdCampBullCity:
"I'm into grassroots PD [...] find the influencers in the building and allow PD to naturally grow from there. [...] and have a relationship with people - THAT is what PD needs to be about." YES!

I'm in an #EdcampBullCity session about how to get better at grading. I'm recommending @mssackstein's book: Peer Feedback in the Classroom: Empowering Students to be the Experts. Check It Out! See: https://t.co/npQ3gq0YzL
Talking grading at #EdCampBullCity: "I am sending mixed messages because I am telling them that the PROCESS is valuable... but then I place so much value on assessment scores." Sad truth.
PBL/PBL/IBL? (Project/Problem/Inquiry-Based Learning) - Project Based Learning is the vehicle, Problem Based Learning is the driver, and Inquiry-Based Learning is the engine. Good Conversations happening at #EdCampBullCity
#EdCampBullCity - How do you feel about rearranging your classroom library, ripping off the reading levels, & arranging your library by topic and interest?
And there are others that have genrified and then moved to a more balanced approach w/ some sections that are & others that aren't. It's interesting to see the pendulum swing back and forth.
Hey, @AubreyDiOrio! Great to see you at #EdcampBullCity! I like to invite collaboration thru what-if questions posed rather than more demonstrative methods. Also, I'm a huge fan of @iste, and DYK? #ISTE began with a #Whatif conversation. Check it out: https://t.co/y4zZrVrCKi...
People don't know what they don't know...but that is NOT acceptable for some topics. Let's initiate talk about cultural awareness in our schools and lives...edcampstyle @MsKDMcCollum
