A1: As a coach, we should prepare them the best way we can, be honest with them about their opportunity, and promote them
-
A.1 Encourage them that they can make sure they put in the school work, make them real about what level they can play at
-
A1: personally I believe you do everything you can. The more you send to college the better future your program will have
-
Tonight's Qs are coming from Give them a follow and always click on the hashtag!
-
A1) Give kids on and off the field the knowledge, tools, exposure, and opportunity to play at the next level if they wish to
-
A1: Our role is to showcase kids to schools that are fits with their academic and athletic ability. Can't create great film.
-
A1: Push them academically, don't let grades be the reason they don't go on to the next level.
-
-
And you can't change a bad transcript...they go hand in hand...great point, coach! https://t.co/EFrZVevxjp

A1: Our role is to showcase kids to schools that are fits with their academic and athletic ability. Can't create great film.
-
A1- 1st, educate kids on academic requirements & the recruiting process as a whole. Then I organize all info on our kids and...
-
A.1 More, Shield them from BS Recruitng Cos with expensive film package, tell tehm know what you want to go to school for.
-
we send their film to the coaches and schools at the level where they have the best opportunity
-
A1 (cont).. have copies of transcripts & ACT on file and on computer. Send info, film, and transcripts to every school we can.
-
we talk to coaches that come by, that call, however we can to get the word out about our kids
-
-
-
A1 - ultimately, I tell our kids that we can't promise you a scholarship. I can promise I'll get your info to every college in..
-
we also use Twitter to send out highlights...if there is a way to contact a coach, we do it
-
A1 we have to promote them to coaches, hold them accountable in classroom, educate them on the process, and guide them all way!
-
A1 cont: Educate them on the process & be honest about their level of play. Develop relationships w college coaches is huge.
-
A1: curious about how specifically HS coaches go about promoting their players to colleges. What tools do you use?
-
A1 (cont).. in our region + others they put on a top 10 list. They'll have your info & shake your hand. The rest I can't control
-
A1: start young. Without good grades good luck. There also has to be talent. But determination can still be a walk on
-
A2: Hudl, Twitter, emails and texts to coaches/schools. We have info, film, and transcripts ready for coaches. Make it easy!
-
we use google docs to create an individual player profile that we send via email and will print for visits
-
Q2: For those that have talked to college coaches. What do they want to know about? What seems important to them?
-
-
RT -->Q2: For those that have talked to college coaches. What do they want to know about? What seems important to them?

no
Q2: For those that have talked to college coaches. What do they want to know about? What seems important to them?

A1: Twitter, text, Email, HUDL, Recruiting Fairs.. All of these are used https://t.co/vw9AZK14uL

-
A2: Size, grades, and year in school
-
A2) Are they multi-sport, grades, attitude, height/weight, are they a good teammate, leadership ability, do they love the game?
-
A2: The D1 coaches know if the kid can play already...they ask about grades, other sports, off season numbers, and character
-
A2: grades, other sports, character and NOW PARENTS. Is he a captain for us https://t.co/C3iVX9AbS6
-
-
Q2: For those that have talked to college coaches. What do they want to know about? What seems important to them?
-
-
A2: what type of kid is he. Grades/work ethic/character/commitment. Without those they won't even bother calling back
-
A2:
1. Grades
2. Character
3. Ability Level
4.'who else has offered/is interested'
-
Coach, what r they asking about parents?
-
-
A2- never once been asked about athletic ability. That's their job to evaluate. They ask: grades, home life, work ethic, etc..
-
Q3 Are your players going to exposure camps/combines, trainers, or paying for recruiting services? What's your opinion of them?
-
When I was coaching college ball I wanted to know about grades, work ethic, and character. We already knew kid could play ball.
-
Involvement, r they making the decision, if u needed to talk with them about any issue r they receptive https://t.co/U5jv4wo0B1
-
-
Coach, what r they asking about parents?
-
Q3 Are your players going to exposure camps/combines, trainers, or paying for recruiting services? What's your opinion of them?
-
Basically a lot of schools r becoming weary of a parent they perceive to be a helicopter 1 https://t.co/U5jv4wo0B1
-
-
Coach, what r they asking about parents?
-
A2- remember, a lot of college coaches make lots of $. They can evaluate athletic ability. But they'll lose that paycheck and...
-
A3: our kids that can afford it go to camps. No to recruiting services, they do what anyone can do - send highlight film.
-
If it involves your credit card or debit card don't do it
-
A3: Yes to all. We just want them to be smart about it, but it's their money. Get mad when kids are lied to/they bash our staff.
-
A3: My kids have been attending college and satellite camps...IDK if they use a service
-
a3: Camps n front of schools r the best. Love those. But a lot pay 4 trainers, r combines, etc. https://t.co/sNqq68I5u4
-
-
Q3 Are your players going to exposure camps/combines, trainers, or paying for recruiting services? What's your opinion of them?
-
A2 cont- ..have to uproot family if guys they recruit can't meet demands of college. They won't gamble that on athleticism alone
-
A3: camps mostly. Still doesn't show what the kid can do when the bullets start flying. Seeing them live shows you everything
-
A3: kid may catch every ball in a camp but one good shot from a LB or DB he may not run that route again.
-
Many colleges want your opinion on a kid. You can add subjective notes on players in our app. https://t.co/fa17XwqRwU
-
Let's change gears as there is much more to offseason than recruiting.
-
A3- Camps give coaches a chance to evaluate players, but they are not the be all end all. Kid has to be able to play in fall
-
Q4 How does weight lifting & athletic/speed development factor into your offseason plan? What has been most beneficial? Advice?
-
Q4 How does weight lifting & athletic/speed development factor into your offseason plan? What has been most beneficial? Advice?
-
Side survey: Which lift is most important in off season?
-
A3- a camp promotes "exposure" & "scouts" but no current NCAA coaches are there = wasted money. Donate it to our team instead 😆
-
A4: Strength and speed improvement is huge for us. Once a kid is seeing results they are more confident on the field too.
-
Side survey 2: Which combine event do you care most about?
-
a4: Yr round development. Biggest thing u can do 4 ur program. Advice: Find a system that works 4 u! https://t.co/piyf8rDNn6
-
-
Q4 How does weight lifting & athletic/speed development factor into your offseason plan? What has been most beneficial? Advice?
-
A4: Weight lifting & speed is what we focus on for the majority of our off-season and summer. A combo of both is needed
-
A4: as SC it's where we make our money. Constantly varied functional movements at high intensity
-
Combines where you have to pay $$ are not a good investment. College coaches can't attend and rarely look at the results.
-
Q5 How do you motivate & educate players in athletic development? Do you have tests, goals, awards? What role does data play?
-
-
Lift - I like the explosiveness of the power clean
-
A3: I require our top kids to go to a couple of camps to promote themselves. Ultimately, they must have good film in the fall.
-
A4: train in the offseason for what you want on the field. We run up tempo so we have to train in the weight room for it.
-
RT Q5 How do you motivate & educate players in athletic development? Do you have tests, goals, awards? What role does data play?
-
A3. Tell guys & parents about camps in New England few attend I have dissuaded few frm throwin $$ @ recruit cos I will make film
-
A4- Strength, speed, and agility are vital in winter, spring, and summer.
-
self promotion is a big part as well...as much as we do, the kid has to do his part
-
A4: our line is lean and mean, so they can get up and down the field. We're strong but we don't win many tug-o-wars
-
Equally important is building mental toughness and team building. Both MUST be incorporated into strength programs
-
Q4: Explosive lifts are the mainstay of our strength & conditioning program. Speed & Power development!
-
-
A5: explain the why. Relate it to their goals. We have of the week and various stuff throughout to be competitive
-
-
A5: We track all measurables. It helps us tweak our workouts if athletes are plateauing.
-
A4 WR 4 nights /wk post FB season, wk 1 school closes agils every night ladders/chg of dir drills have seen def pwr imprv & feet
-
A5: We award kids with total lifts over 1000 lbs with the 1000 lb club...We talk about putting forth their best effort every day
-
A4) We can pick our player, so we have to make them. Strength, speed & agility are skills that can be built,
-
coaching in Australia problems-having 2 sub 4.5 WR's who can flat out ball, not show what they got - suggestions to help them?
-
A5: training is relative. Mindset is different daily. I don't use % idk what Im getting daily. One day great next can be bad
-
A4) We can't pick our player, so we have to make them. Strength, speed & agility are skills that can be built,
-
Q5: we use data in every way possible: by position, by unit, by O/D, by team, strength, power, speed, quickness, never enough
-
Really appreciate all that joined the tonight. Hopefully you were able to benefit in at least one way.
-
Q5 I constantly study then distill info to our FB page along with motivationals, hard to get data too many multi sport players
