#122edchat
A2- I can say our building admin understands the importance of family. Our admin's door is always open. They are willing to listen and figure things out as a team. I enjoy working with @Flood1Tracy@dsimpsonsimmons and @TheDeanSMS#122edchat
A2: I come up with some really, amazingly bad ideas, but they are always kind in helping me to reframe my approaches to help me close the deal. They want to say "YES" so they help me rephrase my questions to receive that answer. Honestly, they are incredibly patient. #122edchat
A2: I’m appreciative of my upper administration because of their humanity. They are good people at heart and always do their best to help people. That’s sometimes a tough quality to maintain in tough times. #122edchat

A2: The administration goes out of their way to have a connection with Ss. You can see this in the relationships they build throughout the 3 years our Ss are here. #122edchat
A2: The shine the spotlight they don't try to stand in it. Celebrating the staff success and giving them the chance to enjoy that is one of many reasons I appreciate mine. #122edchat
A2 our admin gives us or trusts us to teach the way and with what materials we think are most appropriate for our kids. I wouldn’t work at a school if I had to be on the same page on the same day. Kids don’t work that way (nor do I). #122edchat
A2 The Leadership in our district is amazing, they are innovative & open to change because we can’t keep educating kids the same way we did back during industrialization, so they are supporting & taking our campuses through School Redesign @patricia_kassir#122edchat

A3: I have a newfound appreciation for working moms! I have some amazing role models within the @Simmonsknights1 family and am so grateful for that support system. Cat moms count, too, @mrs_norkus247! #122EdChat
A2: Well I work at a VA hospital. We're not exactly reputed to have effective or efficient administrators. We do have a lot of redundant layers of admin across the system, so I guess that means is easier for them to find coverage? Sorry, that's the best I can do. #122edchat
A3: I have a newfound appreciation for the positive power of social media to be able to tell our district's story in a positive, productive way. #122edchat
A2: I love the support they give not only to us but also the students. They talk to them, observe, and interact in positive ways. Respect goes both ways and they model those types of interactions. #122edchat

A3: This school year I have a new appreciation for how accepting and caring our Ss are. All the Ss, go above and beyond to make sure that all others are included. It makes me one happy teacher to see these friendships blossom over the school year! #122edchat
A3: The question "WHY?" I always felt like I had to have the answer for everything. I have learned very quickly that when I let the kids do the research, they appreciate the answers more and retain the information longer. They have a greater connection to the content. #122edchat
A3-The power of gratitude. We made it a mission this year to say thank you whether in a note or face to face.I know it has made a difference. Our kids are more conscious of using those 2 little words. The lunchtime workers appreciate it for sure. #122edchat
A3 amazing impact that frequent positive communication home can have. I’ve always strived to send positive feedback home but until recently I did not consistently, every week make The phone calls or send emails. #122edchat

A2 The Leadership in our district is amazing, they are innovative & open to change because we can’t keep educating kids the same way we did back during industrialization, so they are supporting & taking our campuses through School Redesign @patricia_kassir#122edchat
A3: My newfound appreciation is for the quiet time that is needed before the second half of the day. Getting reenergized, revamping the lesson if needed, adding information that I may have missed a few times through, being better and just breathing. #122edchat
Joining via Tweetdeck due to grad class tonight. Apologizes for any timing issues and I look forward to reading all the great responses later on! #122edchat
A2: Their unwavering support! The fact that they INCLUDE me in their decision making when it comes to the library. Also, the fact that I know I am trusted by them to make good choices for our campus, students and library. #122edchat#punkrocklibrarian
A3: Using the definition of Appreciation as Understanding, I have a new found appreciation this year for the trials teens go through we don't see and how it impacts their learning. After today I appreciate See's Candies. Where have they been all my life #122edchat
You guys are doing amazing things down there in FLA. Wish that @CaldwellElemen was closer to Chicago. Might have to tell @Flood1Tracy that I am going out to buy coffee one day and sneak out there. Just might work! #122edchat

Yes! My school recently just got their second ever crossing guard after our old one retired last year. The fact that she yells across the street good morning to me each day is such a small but meaningful gesture! #122edchat#walelm#mymisd
A3 given the circumstances I believe it’s more affirmation then anything knowing but know how important ALL stakeholders play in supporting the #WholeChild our community came together after Hurricane Harvey to help one another #122edchat
A3 I have a newfound appreciation for teaching the whole child... after teaching intervention, caring, being flexible, holding kids and their parents accountable, and giving snacks come before reading & writing #122edchat
A3: I have a newfound appreciation for Twitter & being a connected educator! I have made amazing connections with my PLN & even met some in person! These people are my tribe! I’m a better T because of them! Don’t know what I’d do without them! #122edchat
A4 "...that I am in control of my future" Teaching is not just teaching content but developing Ss independence to take control of their lives & follow their aspirations #122edchat
A4: "...to persevere, ALWAYS." We have faced many challenges this school year, but we have not quit. Each obstacle in another opportunity to grow in leadership, communicate with those you love, collaborate, and problem solve your way to a win. #122edchat
A4: My teacher has taught me to believe. Yes, I've learned the content too but, even more powerful, I've learned to believe in myself completely and those around me. I've realized this believe can lift everyone up!
#122edchat
A4: My teacher has taught me that history can be a fun subject to learn! A lot of my students come into my class with the mindset that history is boring and just memorizing names and dates. My goal is to change that perception!! #122edchat
A4 that school isnt about a test or a grade, its about learning how to work with what you’ve got with the people around you and making the most of your opportunities #122edchat
A4: My teacher has taught me to always have passion in whatever I do! My teacher has taught me to have a #GrowthMindset and be a problem solver! #122edchat
My daughter is 14, finishing her last few weeks of middle school. I hope at least one of her Ts would answer this Q the same way as you! Love this reply so much! #122edchat
Q1: Teacher Appreciation Week is upon us, and (most likely) educators everywhere are being told how much they're appreciated. Name someone YOU appreciate who is NOT in the education field. #122edchat
A5: The kids. There is nothing that I wouldn't do for them. Any time of day or night, I am available. Middle school kids are the most underrated human beings on the planet. #122edchat
So essential, Dr. Orzel. It's how people communicate these days. We need to be the tip of the arrow, writing the story of our schools. We must own the narrative. #122edchat
A5-I thank the kids often for completing assignments and good behavior etc.I think they can generally feel my appreciation for them as people. I try to make an effort with staff to say hello. I try to let people know I'm thankful for what they do everyday. #122edchat
A5: I love that each day is full of the unexpected. I tell my husband that Monday mornings are my favorite part of the week. I love spending time with Ss and talking about what they did that weekend and taking some time to reconnect. #122edchat
A5: I love helping others. Whether its Ss or Ts or even admins, the great feeling is the same when others finally breakthrough to realizing their belief in themselves and others was well founded.
#122edchat
A5 No matter what the struggle, I still get to be with 171 students every day and shape their lives in partnership with them and their community. #122edchat

A5 that many of my students actually realize that school is not the enemy. I love that every day is a chance for me to make 44 kids have the best day ever that did not involve a video game or movie #122edchat
A5 #122EdChat I love teaching #read180 ! I LOVE the program and believe in it 110%! I love that they provide such rich text to struggling readers. They make reading fun!!! I love my students & the effort they give.
A6: I try to never miss an opportunity to support Ss, Ts, and admins. in our district. I've co-presented at conferences, gone to sporting events, authentically praised student work and support of other Ss, and created virtual ways to reflect and collaborate.
#122edchat
A5: I love empowering others, whether they are my patients or colleagues. I love putting possibilities in their hands and watching what they do with them. #122edchat
A5- I love that every day is different & that I'm leaving a footprint on the future. Even if my Ss only remember 1 thing that I taught them, I know it was worth it. #122edchat

A5 love connecting dots for campuses, families, & communities. I enjoy the team of folks I get to serve each day so that they have all the tools they need to be successful in their schools, most importantly love that we are making a difference in kids lives daily #122edchat
I agree! We are blessed with the students we have from @Simmonsknights1. My wife told me that our oldest (6th Grade) is afraid to go to her school because the climate among students is so harsh. Broke my heart. Wish she could work with our team. #122edchat
A6: I try to always let my students know how grateful I am to have them in my classroom. Even on MY hard days, they need to know how much they are loved. #122edchat
A6: I try to make my classroom a safe and respectful learning environment where Ss can be themselves and be proud of who they are. With my colleagues I try to get to know everyone and be a positive influence in the building. #122edchat
Q6: When people feel valued, they will do almost anything to succeed. What are you doing to create a culture of appreciation in your class and with your staff? #122edchat
A5: At my age, I love to be reminded of how it was to be at that awkward age. I enjoy making them laugh, oh, and I'm pretty sure they're learning something too. #122edchat
A5 -
1. Helping kids see their potential.
2. Greeting them everyday.
3. Enjoying their company.

5. Teaching them about being passionate about learning.
6. Getting them hyped for school. #122edchat
A5. Seeing the Ss grow in learning as they are investigating the phenomena, conducting their tests, exploring, reflecting on questions and what they have observed, and finding out the why behind the problems. #122edchat

Q6: When people feel valued, they will do almost anything to succeed. What are you doing to create a culture of appreciation in your class and with your staff? #122edchat
A6: Look people in the eye and tell them SPECIFICALLY what I love about them. General, blanket statements are nice, but lack a personal touch. Being specific takes time, but shows care. Shows that you notice people. It shows others that you value them as an individual. #122edchat
A6: We created a music video that included Ss and Ts. You can truly see how much the staff and students care and appreciate one another. Truly the highlight of my year! #122edchat
A6 Don't overlook the small things that people do that give me the ability to work with my Ss My teaching assistants are awesome & help me in more ways than I can count #122edchat
A6 We worked on #Gratitudesnaps early in the year, sharing people and things we appreciate. It definitely helped build a culture of appreciation #122edchat
A6: This is an everyday thing. Appreciations are through continuous actions. People can get a moment of joy from a trophy or an announcement on the PA but being valued and being pointed out are different. #122edchat
Q6: When people feel valued, they will do almost anything to succeed. What are you doing to create a culture of appreciation in your class and with your staff? #122edchat
A6: I like that my job respects my view of what Ss with disabilities need. The respect that is shown for the battles that they fight daily is apparent. #122edchat
A2: I appreciate my friend and principal @O_L_Mayers who pushes me, motivates me & inspires me daily...and she makes me laugh. She makes me a better teacher and person. Got nothing but love for her. #122edchat
A5: I always have trouble fitting that into a tweet! I love the 💡moments, the hugs, the joy when a Ss FINALLY discovers which 📚they ❤️, the Disney music I've been playing in the background this week, the coffee.... I digress... #122edchat
A6 I know it’s not quite what we’re going for with this question but the bingo board then @megan_hacholski tweeted out has been a massive success at my school with teachers reaching out and being celebrated #122edchat
A6 it’s about the little things & supporting all areas for our staff. The famous saying goes “kids/adults don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care” it’s about being visible & building authentic relationships w/all stakeholders #122edchat
The feeling is completely mutual, Phil. The impact that you have had on the people that you may never meet. Think about that one tonight, Phil. YOU ARE CHANGING LIVES. One tweet at a time. #122edchat

A5: The interactions and relationships I build with my faculty and students! I get to see a different side to them being a librarian, and it's 99% positive! #122edchat#punkrocklibrarian
A6- Shoutout board, writing thank you notes, personally thanking Ss when they leave class, post cards home to parents.... a smile & a simple thank you go so far! #122edchat
A6. Welcoming Ss everyday, sharing smiles, sharing storing, listening to them sharing their stories, believing in them, encouraging them to take risks, celebrating their successes. #122edchat
A6: I have tried to incorporate #choosekind into so many of our LEQs and UEQs this year. I try to randomly reward my Ss whenever I can. We do "Yahoo's" for small Ss appreciation and "red cards" (positive calls home) for big ones and I try to fill out lots of both #122edchat
Q6: When people feel valued, they will do almost anything to succeed. What are you doing to create a culture of appreciation in your class and with your staff? #122edchat
A6 #122edchat My Ss are split into 3 groups, 3 rotations. There are jobs in each rotation. It gives every student the chance to have a job. I ALWAYS thank them for completing their job. I find that it helps them know they’re appreciated and a vital part of our classroom family.
Q6: When people feel valued, they will do almost anything to succeed. What are you doing to create a culture of appreciation in your class and with your staff? #122edchat
A6: I ask my students questions and listen. I also use their feedback on lessons and assessments to guide instruction. This makes them feel heard which motivates them to work! #122EdChat
Q6: When people feel valued, they will do almost anything to succeed. What are you doing to create a culture of appreciation in your class and with your staff? #122edchat
A5 The kids! The creativity in always thinking on my feet! Constant problem solving! Singing! Dancing! Rolling my eyes back in my head so many times at the weird things kids do (yet they never get stuck)! There’s no other job like teaching! #122edchat
A5: What do I love about my job? Well, I don’t have a job. I have a calling. Teaching is my calling. I know down deep in my soul that this is what I am suppose to do in this life—even on the most challenging days. It’s all about the kids...and I truly ♥️all of them. #122edchat
A6 I am "a lot" for some colleagues to handle, lol... so I try to stay quiet & out of the way when I can (for their sanity), but there are a group of us who have a tight #PLN based around mutual respect and a love of #inquiry that I value highly. #122edchat
