The chat starts NOW!
A1: Technology allows increase student engagment. As a technology teacher it meets my learning goals as students learn about using the technology. #Satchat
A1. Tech can amplify learning by connecting Ss to the world. Can provide opportunities for an authentic audience and can help differentiate to meet individual Ss needs. #satchat
A1 Technology is a tool that makes things easier for students - easier to collaborate and get teacher feedback, easier to gather and organize information, and for some students, easier to stay interested #satchat
A1- I think it gives us away to meet more students needs. If you don't like to talk in whole group using something like @Flipgrid could help because you can do it 1-on-1. #satchat
A1: Tech allows me to be in two places at once. I can create scaffolding through online videos or online activities while still being present for students who need human interaction. #satchat
A1: tech provides my Ss opportunities to take more ownership of content exploration and develop the soft skills that I believe they need going forward - communicate, collaborate, create. #satchat#houseofedtech
A1 Technology provides a vehicle for students to create a community of practice beyond the classroom: learn from experts in the field, share thinking products w/ peers for review+ feedback, co-create+ collaborate on projects #satchat
Good morning #satchat I'm Jess from NJ, starting a new job as a Coordinator of Integrated Instructional Technology and Looking forward to talking edtech this am.
A1: Tech helps enhance the creation of S generated content by providing choice, information, and tools. Tech supports Ss in learning to evaluate the quality of resources to develop scientific literacy and digital citizenship. #satchat
A1 - #edtech supports and enhances learning for our students by being a learning tool and resource, It's integration should enhance the classroom experience, interactions with students, and information gathering/organization / understanding.
#satchat
A1: Technology allows students to collaborate and see learning in action increasing student engagement. Technology helps meet learning goals by differentiating content and levels to meet individual student needs. #satchat
A1: Tech integration allows students to become more adapt to using new tools to solve problems. The edge they’ll need to run the planet one day soon #satchat#edtech#njed#technology
A1) Integrating tech to support strong curriculum is critical to engagement in today’s classroom. Students learn standards + how to use them in real life. Tech makes learning relevant! #satchat
A2: We are moving Ss learning towards using tech as a tool to engage in conversation, explore, experiment, advocate, find answers rather then using it to create a product. #satchat@plugusin
A1. My "students" are now all adult learners who have, over time, developed a very strong #PLN thanks to having technology. I remember how challenging PD learning was before tech = not fun! #satchat
A1 Technology can help even out the playing field for students who need extra support or who have outside of school needs. Translation, collaboration, and research can be done without leaving the home. #satchat
A1: We are moving Ss learning towards using tech as a tool to engage in conversation, explore, experiment, advocate, find answers rather then using it to create a product. #satchat@plugusin
A1 Using the right tech with some pre set guidelines Ss can discover info on their own and self direct their learning. They can really explore what interests them. #satchat@The_Tech_Lady
A1. Technology for me is another area for differentiation. While many students are quite tech savvy, some are still learning. Technology allows another avenue into reaching the Ss. #satchat
A1: Technology is anything that makes a task easier; ed tech is so much more than websites, Chromebooks, and tablets. Ed tech, when used purposefully, gives students access to more differentiated instruction and learning. #Satchat
A1: Tech is a the teaching supplement that makes the world smaller and opens up possibilities that wouldn't necessarily be easy or even possible any other way. #satchat
A1 Tech is a tool - see tech if any kind whether a hammer or a tablet as helping kids accomplishing something they want or need to do as learners/ formally or informally. #satchat
A1.1 - #edtech can not be seen as the solution to student learning. It needs to be seen as a part of the equation. It's efficient use and implementaiton in the learning environment should enhance learning and teacher. Not replace it. #satchat
A1 So much as tech makes the world more available, it can be useful--but as a science teacher, I need to be careful it is not a barrier to the larger, natural world. #satchat
A1. Strategic use of ed tech is helping @OConnellHS welcome students into the world of their summer reading with our “Novel Approach” to assessments! Small teams working asynchronously to solve puzzles w/ instant feedback while teachers get more time with each student! #satchat
A1 Many ways to remove obstacles to learning using #edtech across the curriculum. Check out: Free Technology Toolkit for UDL in All Classrooms (Awesome!) https://t.co/S5ALYfu88b#satchat
A1. Tech can amplify learning by connecting Ss to the world. Can provide opportunities for an authentic audience and can help differentiate to meet individual Ss needs. #satchat
A1: tech changes the power dynamic for some Ss in a realm where they are much more comfortable than other Ss. Giving students different venues to shine can provide opportunities for different Ss to build confidence. #satchat
A1 Technology allows me to multiply myself and my time with my students. It allows them to work independently and at a level appropriate for them while all moving toward the same goal. But it is the pedagogical practice and NOT the tech that guides the kids. #satchat
Good morning! Kelli, elementary principal from NJ. Technology in the classroom helps us meet our ultimate goal which is to prepare students for college and career readiness - no one is writing "sloppy copies" in the "real world. #satchat
#Edtech has the potential to be a tremendously effective resource to engage students and improve efficiency and learning. For this we need quality planning, instruction, and reflection. It still comes down to good teaching #satchat
A1 (cont) Tech enlarges the world when it enhances our understanding of it. I'm pretty deaf--email/subtitles are huge for me. Many of us are nearsighted. Edutech should be as seamless as a pair of glasses.
#satchat
A1: Joining a little late here. :) Technology provides a means of personalizing learning for ALL students. It helps present the content in a different manner affording for higher engagement, more real-world explorations, increased collaboration, and student choice. #satchat
A1: Technology give Ts and Ss opportunities to collaborate and be creative! It also provides us with endless resources for meeting the needs of our learners, meeting goals by increasing Ss engagement which helps everyone achieve learning objectives. #satchat
A1: Just had this conversation yesterday with Ts.
Tech should be used for Ss to CREATE, for Ss to give FEEDBACK, & for Ss to have instant access to RESOURCES. #satchat
Love it. The 21st century classroom needs to strive to offer iterative design and growth mindset in action. Timely feedback is critically important, and “the old way” just doesn’t get the information back to our students fast enough to make an impact. #satchat
Educators! If you aren't using Ibotta you're throwing $$ away! I use the cash back to pay for my running habit (you get $ back for the regular grocery and other shopping you do already!) https://t.co/7ALdmXp4tm#satchat#EduGladiators
Q2: How do you plan your lesson when thinking about technology integration? Do you think of a backward approach, ie: what the end product will look like and what skills you want your students to learn? #satchat
#satchat A1: Tech tools enance and support the learning of students when they support the academic outcomes and instructional strategies (the higher the effect size the more bang for your buck). #boldschool
A1: It's what our S's love to use, so it's always more engaging if we can incorporate tech! Especially when leveling the playing field with #udl strategies, tech makes it possible! @gsuite is my go-to! #GoogleEDU#GsuiteUDL#satchat
A2: When planning with technology working backwards usually works the best. I figure out what I want my digital skills I need my students to learn. Then pick the tool in which the students will learn. #Satchat
A1: Technology alone can't help meet learning goals, the proper use of teaching methods combined with technology can. Technology has to be the cherry on top, not the whole cake in my opinion! #satchat
George will definitely make you hope he is nitnthe last! Great to see you here @kruevans! Feels like it has been a while since our digital paths have crossed! #satchat
Q2: How do you plan your lesson when thinking about technology integration? Do you think of a backward approach, ie: what the end product will look like and what skills you want your students to learn? #satchat
A1 #SatChat let's define first "technology." Technology is everything in a learning space made by humans. Walls, lights, furniture, old and contemporary tools.
A2: As an administrator, I try to strategically use and model technology use with staff to help spark innovative ideas to integrate into classrooms. #satchat@gcouros
A1: tech provides many opportunities for research, connection, collaboration & creation
I think they key to meaningful tech integration is having clear intention when using it. Why am I using this tool? How does it enhance students’ experience? #satchat
A2 I think about what I want the students to learn first, then I decide how they’re going to get there - what they’ll read, what activities they’ll do, whether they’ll collaborate. Lots of choice in finished product! #satchat
Hey #satchat! Isaac from the mountains of North Carolina - Former teacher & coach, now Assistant Director of Professional Learning with the Core Collaborative @TheSocialCore Excited to learn with the #satchat community today.
True. The question for me is always “Why do I want my students to be able to do?” It’s about skills and understandings. Tech amplifies, accelerates and authenticates, but it shouldn’t determine limits. #satchat
a1 (cont): Having said that, it is critical that we see how edutech blinds us as well, and separates students by their level of access. Far from leveling the playing field, tech has, so far, exacerbated our differences. #satchat
A2. Important to plan with the learning target in mind. Can tech help reach the goal or not? Can tech enhance the experience or distract from the intended outcome? #satchat
We will be talking empowerment with author @LaurenPorosoff in the August 19 #HackLearning chat. Join us for 30 solid minutes of sharing and information from 8:30-9:00am EDT. #engagechat
A2: I think of it like I'm working on my truck. I think about the challenge first, and then I go to the toolbox o' tech to choose the tool that will meet that challenge. Never the other way around. #satchat
A2: I imagine or create a final product myself, evaluate the tools/resources that will get them there. Then after exploring the tools myself, I identify what they will need help with through modeling, screenshots, or quick notes to put up as a shortcut or helpful hint. #satchat
YES. One of my favorite things about using small group-based centers instruction or “menus” is that WE (the teachers) still get to choose what items to include as options - so much power in having different options. Sometimes, even the feeling of choice is enough! #satchat
A1: Joining a little late here. :) Technology provides a means of personalizing learning for ALL students. It helps present the content in a different manner affording for higher engagement, more real-world explorations, increased collaboration, and student choice. #satchat
A2: I think about what skill or knowledge I want my students to demonstrate. Then I think about the end product or assessment. Sometimes technology is an appropriate tool, sometimes it's not. #satchat
A1) Technology will always be a tool. We still have to rely to the instructor to inspire & model how to use the technology wisely. Technology can be a wonderful partner when leveraged properly. #satchat
Q2: How do you plan your lesson when thinking about technology integration? Do you think of a backward approach, ie: what the end product will look like and what skills you want your students to learn? #satchat
A2 I slowly build in the technology use during the school year. At first using it as a substitute to pen a paper then using it increase student creativity and class share and collaboration #satchat
Exactly. Too many Ts think they must have it out in the classroom because admin wants to see it. Admin wants to see Ss learning & moving forward. Focus must be on how can tech help them do that. #satchat
Agreed. Several years ago I tried having a class almost entirely based on tech, websites, etc. It was a fail for me. I adjusted and used tech as one of many resources in my class. It was still the base, but I needed more person to person convos. #satchat
A2- I think the biggest thing is to think what do my students need to know and be able to do at the end of the lesson, unit, ect. Then say now how can tech help us get there. #satchat
Curriculum needs to be at the center of tech integration. How can the learning experience benefit from tech integration? How can this tech be integrated in a way that improves the learning experience? #SatChat
Q2: How do you plan your lesson when thinking about technology integration? Do you think of a backward approach, ie: what the end product will look like and what skills you want your students to learn? #satchat
A2. I think about how to use technology to aid/extend the learning of adults who frequent #BookCampPD by adding a website https://t.co/S5pzTtgW6A with resources. It is one thing to read a book, quite another to assimilate and implement the content. #satchat
A2 Start planning with the end goal/ outcome for Ss in mind and then think about how they can get there. The use of tech should just organically fit in where appropriate. #satchat@The_Tech_Lady
A2: As a Superintendent, I would like to see my staff integrating technology into their lessons from a "student first" perspective. How will technology engage the students, assess the students, facilitate the instructional outcome, enhance the lesson, etc. #satchat
The tech tool @Flipgrid can help build culture in your school. This activity 👇🏻 helped connect Students,Parents,Teachers, Comminity in ways we couldn’t have before tech. #FlipgridFever#SatChat
Beg of the year activity for staff: 1️⃣Create @Flipgrid - Staff introduces themselves to Ss/Ps/Community 2️⃣Create QR Codes w staff selfie pic 3️⃣Print QR Code+Pic -display on Bulletin in central area for open house 4️⃣Post @Flipgrid link on school Website #FlipgridFever
A2: I like to start with the end result in mind. What do I want the students to understand, what skills do they need to learn, what do I want them to create? What are my overall objectives? Eye on the prize! #satchat
A1 Late to the party, but…one of our big goals is to help students own their learning. Access to tech allows for creation of different products and exploration of different ideas. #SatChat
Q2: How do you plan your lesson when thinking about technology integration? Do you think of a backward approach, ie: what the end product will look like and what skills you want your students to learn? #satchat
#satchat A2: I use @Wes_Kieschnick#boldschool framework: identify learning outcomes, select instructional strategies, choose digital tools, plan blended instruction and self assess!
A2: What do I want my students to know or do? How will they show what they know? Why do they need to demonstrate it? What tools and resources can I provide to help them? This last question is when technology integration comes into play. Always start with the end in mind! #Satchat
A2. I plan the end-goal of learning, then consider the tools needed to acquire the info or needed to make the end-learning organized and visible. #satchat
Q2: How do you plan your lesson when thinking about technology integration? Do you think of a backward approach, ie: what the end product will look like and what skills you want your students to learn? #satchat
A2- I also wish people would stop saying we need you to use tech in your classrooms, if they aren't going to show resources, and give help on how. Tech can be really overwhelming. #satchat
A2 Lessons should incorporate technology regularly. 21st century learning must use that tech to transform learning in the classroom and be purposeful, not just replace paper or chalk boards. #satchat
A2: The question to ask is now that I have an awesome lesson, how can I keep all of the learning opps in place while blowing my kids mind by making it authentic! Oh yeah, and don’t forget #TPACK#satchat
A2: I consider both the end product and the skill. I think it's tough with math not to consider the skill. The technology sometimes fit and sometimes it doesn't with certain skills. #satchat
Technology doesn’t “do” anything. Tools are taken up and used by people. Tools do not decide to build things or take things apart. People do that.
We get into trouble when we forget that. #satchat
A2 #SatChat so, don't plan your lessons with technology in mind, build students who know how to apply 'Toolbelt Theory" and can make informed choices https://t.co/kcIWj2XrKq
Q2: I use the backwards planning approach as well as the SAMR model. You have to ask yourself "how is the technology benefiting the students?" And the answer shouldn't just be "higher engagement." #satchat
If the curriculum focuses on what students will be able to do & create to demonstrate their growth & learning, tech integration is natural & authentic. #satchat
A2 P1 Begin with the learning progression & imagine together what an excellent product would look like, use that vision to create clear success criteria & a rubric. Plan back from there THEN decide how tech can help Ss go deeper & farther. #satchat
A2: As an admin, I try to work ed tech into my PD that Ts could use in their classroom - I don't do a PD on Kahoot, but I use Kahoot in a PD to show how technology enhances a lesson - it isn't the lesson. #satchat
A2: Start with learning goals- In science/STEM those goals naturally integrate technology standards. In addition, I look at tech as support for students making sense of the world AND communicating their thinking (tech as scaffolding & product) #satchat#NGSSchat
Something I’m chewing on. Technology is just a way to move information from inside one brain into another (or many) brains. At our core, we are talking about communication. Tech is good at making that process efficient. It can also be meaningful. #satchat
A2: When I need to see better, I put on my glasses. If I want to put something on the wall, I grab a stapler. Our relationship with our edtech machines and their role in ed borders on fetishism. #satchat
A2) Ts always need to start by aligning standards. Then think of the tech that compliments it and will allow mastery/creativity/practice/application. Final products don’t necessarily have to be “techy,” but tech should always be an option. ⬅️ also works backwards...#satchat
A2. As a language teacher, the guiding question is “What is a real-word application or extension of this unit?” Interview, documentary, skit, research project, podcast, visualization, op-ed, etc. The answer determines the path or project. #satchat
A1 Tech helps Ss become content creators rather than just content consumers. The likes of blogs & apps such as @Seesaw & @Flipgrid allow Ss to take ownership of their learning. Tech is also great for giving & receiving feedback creating a cycle of reflection & refinement #satchat
A2: We have to think deeply and strategically when planning by shifting our thinking about effective ways to support learning. Technology has the power to foster the types of creative and interactive learning experiences that will help our Ss grow. #satchat
A2: Always ask WHY?
Why would tech help make this class more engaging?
Why would tech help Ss reach learning objectives?
Why would tech distract from lesson/learning?
#satchat
Agreed! And I believe this is where we are really falling short in education. Stop buying me tech and not helping me figure out how to use it. #satchat
I like this because it becomes part of the lesson rather than it being the lesson. @web20classroom taught me this at the first @TMNashville many years ago. #satchat
A2 brainstorming w librarian for choice curriculum shift we chatted foundational floor is 1) making learning personal, 2) how do tools allow kids to express themselves thru reflection, response, and making evidence of learning #satchat
I try to do the same thing when I give PD workshops. It’s a practical and hands on way to introduce tools. Then creative juices flow and the start decide if it’s practical for their classroom #satchat#edtech#professionaldevelopment
A2. Every lesson starts with “How do I want my students to FEEL?”
Then: “what do I want them to LEARN?”
Then: “what do I want them to DO?”
99% of times, there’s an app for that.
Example:
INTRIGUE & Adventure!
Explore the school building.
Take a tour.
QR codes.
#satchat
A2) With tech, I think it has to be a backwards approach. There are some many new advancements in tech that if you don’t know what you want to get accomplished you can spend days finding the right tool! #satchat
What if I told you for many Ss, the technology world was as real as the fade to face world? I think tech is causing us to look at “what is real?” #satchat#thematrix
Are we struggling to convince Ss (and others) that the face to face world is “better?”
A2: As an admin, I try to work ed tech into my PD that Ts could use in their classroom - I don't do a PD on Kahoot, but I use Kahoot in a PD to show how technology enhances a lesson - it isn't the lesson. #satchat
A1 Tech helps Ss become content creators rather than just content consumers. The likes of blogs & apps such as @Seesaw & @Flipgrid allow Ss to take ownership of their learning. Tech is also great for giving & receiving feedback creating a cycle of reflection & refinement #satchat
@The_Tech_Lady A2 When we design professional development We use it as a chance to model key elements of our district vision and use technology to give our teachers more ownership over the process. #SatChat
A2: We have to think deeply and strategically when planning by shifting our thinking about effective ways to support learning. Technology has the power to foster the types of creative and interactive learning experiences that will help our Ss grow. #satchat
A2. When planning for tech integration always begin with the end (enduring understandings, essential questions, essential knowledge, learning objectives) in mind #satchat
Tech just falls into a list of bad integration in education.
Here's a new curriculum. Good Luck.
Here are some new strategies. Good Luck.
Here are 30+ Ss in your classroom. Good Luck.
We all need to make this change, not just admin. Support Each Other. #satchat
A2: What do I want my students to know or do? How will they show what they know? Why do they need to demonstrate it? What tools and resources can I provide to help them? This last question is when technology integration comes into play. Always start with the end in mind! #Satchat
A question worth asking. I think teachers should try to a) understand where Ss are and integrate productive elements of these platforms (empowerment) and b) recognize the potential downsides and dangers (digital citizenship). #satchat#digcit
Can you say more about the type of PD you want? Some teachers just want to play in the sandbox and figure it out on their own. Some want a brief overview of features. Some need someone to demonstrate while others need to do it with the trainer. What works best for you? #satchat
A2 P2 Then plan tech goals together: What skills would help Ss do ___ more efficiently? How could this product be shared online? What skills is necessary now for Ss to complete this project? How can tech help Ss interact more? @The_Tech_Lady#EmpowerEDLearners#edtech#satchat
Innovations and new uses for tech are happening constantly and it's hard to keep up. In my previous job, I worked with Ts to support tech in their classrooms, shared new ideas, gave PD, co-taught with them. It was a great model. There were ALWAYS Ts who needed help. #satchat
A3 I’ve been in schools that had almost no tech, and schools that had a ton… and that still was not enough once state testing began. Leveraging student devices helps, and planning with others so tech can be shared effectively. #satchat
A2) With tech, I think it has to be a backwards approach. There are some many new advancements in tech that if you don’t know what you want to get accomplished you can spend days finding the right tool! #satchat
This is the major question. When we start “talking tech” how do we navigate a landscape in which some students (who have more access to tech) are given an advantage over other students who have less? #satchat
A3: I have access to Chromebooks for my students, and they may also use their own devices. I was lucky to find some very cheap VR headsets to use this year! #satchat
A3: We are lucky to have 1 to 1 in our school. Chromebooks have been an awesome addition to our classrooms. #satchat It can make their learning experiences so much better!
A3) Our district has rolled out a 1:1 initiative each year, thanks to @ccsbladeproject! Each year = more devices. Ts can also write grants, ask for community partnerships, and ask admin. Multiple avenues must be available! #satchat
A2: It's important that we keep the focus on teaching & learning - tools like TPACK & SAMR help us do that. It's important for us to not get caught up in the newest app or shiniest device. It's all about the pedagogy. #satchat
I love that. I think we need to be better about pulling the resources in out buildings. Someone is doing something really cool, who would like to learn about it. Okay, lets figure out how to get you in their room to see it. #satchat
A3: You get technology into the hands of students by ensuring that you allocate funds for tech purchases, allowing BYOD in your school/classroom & providing staff with the training, support, and encouragement to use tech in their classrooms. #satchat
A3 Provide learning opportunities in your class that regularly incorporates technology and engages learners. They will want to bring and engage with technology in school. #satchat
Love that .. we humans are tool users .. learning to figure out what tools we need and how to use them to accomplish what we need or want to do is essential. A sewing machine for example #satchat
A2: As an admin, I try to work ed tech into my PD that Ts could use in their classroom - I don't do a PD on Kahoot, but I use Kahoot in a PD to show how technology enhances a lesson - it isn't the lesson. #satchat
GM all. A2: I’d definitely think in the sense of an airplane taking off but reverse the process. How is what I’m planning going to raise the power of my Ss thinking? As we fly through the cloud (standard) how can my Ss challenge their way of thinking? #satchat
A3. I began in education before there was even one computer in the schools. It is interesting to reflect back on how different education was.
I worked all day and came home and wrote grants at night to be sure students had the technology they needed. #satchat
A3: Planning for its use will determine how #edtech needs to be in students hands. For example at our #Edadmin PD this week we saw a video of a K teacher using #Chromebooks with groups of students using one. Doesn't have to be 1 to 1 to be effective or productive. #satchat
A3: It's hard not in a 1:1 district. We don't have access to tech everyday so your planning way in advance for where you think you'll be or scrapping awesome lessons. Never truly planning in the moment using formative assessment data. #satchat
Hey Patriots, thought you might enjoy this clip from the speaking engagement I did tonight in NYC talking about US and the campaign. Several NYC #WalkAway Patriots who’ve made testimonial videos showed up!! Awesome night!!
#WalkAwayCampaign
#satchat A3: Lucky enough to have chromebooks in my CR; however, not enough for all my Ss. I take full advantage of my school's BYOD policy. I encourage Ss to use their own devices for educational purposes not just "social media" and "gaming".
A3: In addition to the physical technology, we plan, collaborate, and seek professional development that will provide us with the tools to understand how to use tech effectively. There are new things EVERY DAY, but we need to decide what our Ss need and plan accordingly! #satchat
A3. @OConnellHS is one to one for our freshmen and sophomores, while juniors and seniors have the option to use their cell phones. Tech can be SO immersive! Tools like @Flipgrid, @gimkit, @quizizz, @Twitter, @edpuzzle & @hpreveal are staples of a 21st century classroom. #satchat
"When someone you love deeply dies, the calendar of your life is altered forever. It gets divided into the time before and after that moment."
#SaturdayMorning#SatChathttps://t.co/t4RZOQWtgI
A3 Make the technology available and meaningful in places besides the main classroom. Can we use it in specials like art and music? Can it be part of an after school club? Can it be used at home? #satchat@The_Tech_Lady
Something else this mornings #satchat has been causing me to chew on. Are we using tech primarily as a decoding device for Ss to receive knowledge, a coding device for Ss to create content, or a reciprocal device for ENGAGEMENT?
A3. I began in education before there was even one computer in the schools. It is interesting to reflect back on how different education was.
I worked all day and came home and wrote grants at night to be sure students had the technology they needed. #satchat
A3. Our school had an amazing partnership with the gentleman who wrote the operating system for the first Apple iie - remember floppy disks? - He and Steve Jobs sure made a bundle out of their relationship. We were fortunate to have his assistance. #satchat
It's still a work in progress. There are some Google Expeditions that mesh with what I teach, but I haven't had time to do a lot of planning yet! #SatChat
The Weekend is here🎉And so is #satchat😊
I have so much to do this Weekend, how about you😇
You can search all over the World🌏🌍🌎
But believe me Baby, I'm all you need❤️
And yes, I'm much better than all the boys that you Loved Before😝
Great reminder that all #tech is a #tool to accomplish the #goals we already have. Love the pics! What do you want to accomplish? What can help along the way? #EmpowerED#edtech#satchat
Providing home WiFi is a big deal when talking about access to tech. A chrome book won’t do much if it is going home where there is no access to the internet #satchat

I try to do the same...we've rarely had a PD on a tool, but rather I try to model how tools might be seamlessly integrated into teaching and learning. #satchat
A3: How do you get tech in the hands of your students? Don't wrestle the tech out of their hands that they already own! Teach them to use their cell phones for good and not evil. :) #satchat
A2: At times I think about why we talk about tech integration so much. Years ago did they debate textbook integration, or markers& highlighters vs. pencils&crayons, or whiteboards vs. chalkboards? It is a tool that allows us to let Ss learn more and reach further. #satchat
Q2: How do you plan your lesson when thinking about technology integration? Do you think of a backward approach, ie: what the end product will look like and what skills you want your students to learn? #satchat
A1: Tech can simplify assessment, enable the use of multiple means of expression, and expands student choice. It can also do the opposite of all those things. Must be used judiciously. #satchat
Thanks for a good #satchat everyone! I love starting my weekend this way. Also want to share, I'm celebrating a #BookBirthday this week. My second book just came out. https://t.co/vDKyOEvkp5
A2 brainstorming w librarian for choice curriculum shift we chatted foundational floor is 1) making learning personal, 2) how do tools allow kids to express themselves thru reflection, response, and making evidence of learning #satchat
A3 Ts need to feel safe to take risks in using tech with kids and to feel they have a good Why as to purposeful use before putting it in their hands -coaching helps,an admin who models use matters, understanding there will be challenges,,being flexible is essential #satchat
I think it starts with showing the basics of things a teacher could use in their room. Then help set up a lesson using it, go in a co-teach. If another teacher is using something ask staff who has interest in learning about it and get people together. #satchat
A3: Pilot programs and grant funding have been helpful in bridging the disparity between Ss that have access to tech and those that don’t. More needs to happen for all Ss to have both accessible devices, as well as internet access to be able to use the devices. #satchat
