The growth mindset might just be the ticket to all of school reform. Let us not forget that admin need to have the same approach with their teachers. Failure must be allowed. #growthmindset#edchat#schoolreformhttps://t.co/Pfc4OWfIJ9

Are Emoji a 'universal language’? Today is #WorldEmojiDay so let's 🤔 about it https://t.co/ekI6kYTZHW via @IOE_London
'The incredibly rapid take up of emoji as a form of communication has led researchers to wonder what status to give emoji as a type of language.

A literacy coach has many roles in schools: a mentor, an observer, a teacher of teachers, and a researcher. It is important than admin provides what they need in a coach. This coincides with expectations. Again coaches need to know what is expected of them. #edchat
Currently, less than 40 percent of fourth-grade students in U.S. schools are proficient readers, and the literacy gap becomes harder to close in higher grades: https://t.co/yKUipEQKIL#literacy#equity#edchat
My students love using movement for their discussions. We use Kagan strategies such as "Stand Up, Hand Up, Pair Up" to get them moving around the classroom and discussing their opinions. #edchat

This chart is CRUCIAL to my everyday teaching. It’s a lense for getting Ss to see the world. We use this for articles, pics, stories, videos, and beyond. So many powerful conversations, questions and pieces of writing have come from this chart! #AHSWI18#JSMules@AHISD#edchat
Unfortunately, I see this in my school as well. As many students get older, they struggle as readers. The gap grows as they head to middle school. They need to be proficient in reading in the early years, and if not, we need to determine ways to support their success. #edchat
I think the most important role is the "teacher of teachers." Coaches need to support their educators in the best way possible. They could model lessons, provide feedback, observe, and meet with teachers individually or with the whole team. What do you think? #edchat

My students also enjoy using movement for discussions. It makes them remember what we are learning and students at such a young age need to be up and moving! We also use Kagan strategies in our classroom and my hope for this coming school year is to implement even more! #EdChat
100% true! What's your brand? You have one.

I fully agree. If coaches are involved in the development of teachers, then they help create more effective teachers, who will in return create more effective learners. #edchat

I love using Kagan strategies to get kids moving and to interact with one another. What are your favorite Kagan strategies to use as team builders? And as learning activities? #edchat
I like this model! It promotes further learning for students, one that is on a deeper level and not just on the surface. It gets students thinking past what they have already read/learned. #edchat
Ignorance is our weakness. Know and exercise your rights, study up and learn about our democracy. Don't let self-serving leaders topple your freedoms, rights, opportunities and life, liberty and pursuit of happiness. #wecandobetterhttps://t.co/xOQBYR5iYd#edchat#vote
Technology is growing and our students are professionals at using iPads and iPhones. To prepare for jobs in the future, we need to teach them how to type, research, and explore using computers. There is such a shortage of computer experience in learning in our schools. #edchat
I fully agree that coaches have so many different roles and being a teacher of teachers is one of the most important. I also feel that it is important that they are a mentor because then teachers feel comfortable expressing concerns and asking questions. #EdChat

Agreed! Most of my students don't know how to touch type because keyboarding isn't being taught anymore, yet we still require them to be digitally literate. Ironic or backwards? #edchat
My kids like to do "Find Someone Who..." for team building especially after a long break! They also like Quiz, Quiz, Trade and ask to do it after almost every Science/SS unit to review! #edchat

I like this model too. We need to encourage our students to think deeper. Many believe that there is one obvious answer, but never question or wonder. I think this model would help with that. #edchat
This model is great for students to reach that higher level of thinking! I like how it is extended past just the typical KWL chart. I would love to implent this in my classroom! #EdChat

Absolutely! I am a primary teacher and during literacy centers, we use some programs in which students have to type in a username or password and most times I have to stop teaching my small group because they are struggling to find the keys! We need keyboarding classes! #edchat

I love both of those! I love using "Find Someone Who..." after several days off or on a Monday. I love QQT because it really got my students into coaching last year. Many of them could support their friends into finding the right answer instead of just telling them it. #edchat
Anyone have any (shorter) videos of a traditional teacher professional development session on any topic? I'd like to have my class critique it. #edchat#cpchat

These revolutionized the way I grade projects & speaking, etc in Spanish class. I am able to give solid, quick feedback and students aren’t stuck in a giant swampy rubric grid. Worth a look! I actually look forward to grading with these. #TrueStory#EdChat ❤️@cultofpedagogy❤️
I may have to get a copy/take a picture of that from you. A highlight from last year...kids were playing QQT with words from our blending lines and I walked one of my students with a LD coaching a friend on how to break a multisyllabic word. I love seeing those moments. #edchat

Effective technology integration is not giving kids an iPad and putting them on an app. It's considering how technology can fundamentally change the way you teach and students learn. #TeachBetter#EdTech
What I've learned this summer:
Teaching is my passion, but it's not my life. Being a teacher is the most rewarding experience I've EVER had, but it's not my only identity. My students' well being is my priority, but my well being is also my priority.
All things they teach us as a undergrad and PD’s for free but the Gates and other corporate shills want to profit off of EDU so now they going to sell us on the idea we need 🛑curriculum reform🛑.💰💰💰💰 #edchat#satchat#teachers
Do you find that they have no trouble speed typing with cell phones, but can't type effectively on keyboards? I've noticed that at the high school level this is especially bad. #edchat
